S3XY Phone Dash + DIY Mount is a fantastic upgrade to my driving experience.

Suvi2k | 2026-03-14 17:41 | 52 views

I wanted a small driver display in my Model 3 mainly for things like turn signals, brake lights, and RPM/power data, but I didn’t want to permanently install another screen in the car. I ended up using the S3XY phone dash with a custom magnetic mount solution and it’s honestly worked out better than I expected. Here’s my setup and thoughts after using it for a while. Why I Like This Setup • Convenience Once the mount is in place, attaching the phone is quick and natural when I get into the car. • I don’t use my phone while driving One thing I like about this setup is that my phone effectively becomes a dedicated display while driving. I’m not interacting with it, it’s just showing useful vehicle info. • Useful information The phone dash shows exactly the things I want in my line of sight: \* Turn signals (see photo) \* Brake light indicator (see photo) \* RPM / power data \* Other driving information • Very strong magnetic mount The magnet is strong enough that the phone never moves, even during harder acceleration or braking. • Foldable / tuck-away mount My mount folds down and tucks away cleanly when I’m not using it, which keeps the interior looking stock. • Non-invasive install No drilling, no permanent modifications, and nothing stuck permanently to the dash. • Active development One thing I really appreciate is that the developers are still pushing updates. I included a screenshot showing a new update released just this week. • Theft safety Since it’s just my phone, I can remove it instantly when I leave the car. Nothing valuable is left visible inside. Compared to the Official S3XY Dash - I’ve looked into the official S3XY Dash and while it looks great, my setup accomplishes almost the same thing for a fraction of the cost. \- The information displayed is essentially the same data that I actually care about. \- The official S3XY Dash isn’t even available yet, while this solution works today. \- I like the shape of my phone(iPhone) next to the factory screen in the car as they match and look like they are oem. So for now this feels like a really good budget alternative that still delivers most of the functionality a standalone dash does and works for existing s3xy commander owners.

Very neat option! I may install this in my wife’s m3. Sometimes the phones gets too hot on the wireless charger. This charges the phone too right? Sorry if you mentioned it already in your post.

This really looks clean. Can you share the parts list and how you installed it? If you make a YouTube video ppl would watch.

SubieSTI360 2026-03-14 20:11

It looks great and I’ve seen that mount before. Personally I could not use it because I drive with my left hand at 12 o’clock.. I wouldn’t be able to see it.

What phone app is this? Searching for “S3XY phone dash” isn’t finding it for me. Thanks

13300c 2026-03-14 20:45

Probably the regular S3XY app.

lanamakesart 2026-03-14 21:00

s3xy app but you need a Commander from enhauto for it to work

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 21:02

Thanks, I chose not to do a wireless charger installation because it adds overhead to the install and won’t be as seamless when you want to fold it down. Also the charging cables I have in my center console area can easily reach if needed.

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 21:10

Not planning to make a YouTube video due to time constraints on my end but the install is very straight forward and I can try to explain here. Step 1:The mount comes with what appears to be a thin circular piece with non damaging adhesive pre applied. You need to mount this to the car once you position it to your viewing preference. (With everything attached for testing) Step 2: The foldable mount itself, they expect you to attach to that circle in the step above via magnetism and use the whole mount as a removable option. In my approach, I used the adhesive they provided to attach the piece in step 1 to the car for the least invasive long term effects. Then I used super glue to attach the mount piece (step2) on top of that so it does not budge while moving the mount back and forth as needed. Link to the mount on Amazon: https://a.co/d/02R9iUw9 Hope it helps!

Hmm I use my left hand to drive as well but in general prefer the sides or bottom of the wheel unless turning. You’re right about visibility but all solutions available including a factory dash will suffer from this exception/problem.

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 21:11

https://a.co/d/02R9iUw9 I’ve shared the steps in another comment here.

The phone app is called S3XY. You would use your commander which is used by most other enhance products already to enable this. My settings are such that, as soon as this app is opened, the dash pops up in horizontal mode.

Potential m3 owner here, love the simplicity of this. Is your ambient lighting stock, if so, is it specific to a certain trim?

Swang007 2026-03-14 22:01

How does compare to Teslogic?

Flakarter 2026-03-14 22:05

In an accident, that will be a flying projectile. But perhaps the air bag will open before impact.

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 22:25

All highland models come with ambient lighting that can be set to the colors of your choice. Enhance S3XY products(commander specifically) further improve their usage functionally. Eg: blink with turn signals green on either side of the car( this includes door ambient lighting too if you choose it) , blind spot monitoring. One of my favorite features!

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 22:27

I like my iPhone screen better than any 3rd party screen tbh because my usage as such is just for a speedometer, signals and battery. The fact that it is free (as long as you use a S3XY commander) makes it more worthwhile for me.

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 22:29

Yea maybe and I hope never to find out ha. I think most removable phone chargers and standalone dash’s would present similar risk.

Crazy_Apricot_6311 2026-03-14 22:30

Thank you!

Swang007 2026-03-14 23:26

Yeah I use my phone for Teslogic too. It seems similar with the app. I guess with this I would buy into the S3XY ecosystem too

Flakarter 2026-03-14 23:51

Yes they do. I hope you don't find out.

Suvi2k 2026-03-14 23:53

Oh cool, I didn’t realize any other companies were making multiple products that all relied on one wireless transmission median like Enhance does, nor did they come with a free phone app. Thanks for sharing and the engagement.

icy1007 2026-03-15 00:37

Will they be changing the name from S3XY to 3Y?

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 00:38

Not sure, are the S and X discontinued?

Splattacular1 2026-03-15 01:00

I recommended this option a year and a half ago if you have Sexy buttons. With this $25-$30 magnetic holder you’re not wasting $200-$300 on any type of dash. The one I used is called Tita Bend. If the magnetic holder isn’t strong enough, you can buy a pack of Volport circular magnets that work for $8 on Amazon. The full dash option (there’s a few companies making them) always seemed dumb to me because it’s just another thing someone would actually break into your car to grab thinking it’s something of importance.

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 01:34

I also got the idea from someone who feels the same way we do and shared their experience even further back than a few years elsewhere. The folding mount they recommended was no longer available sadly but this seems to be working well for me and very cost effective also.

bedel99 2026-03-15 01:40

Have you seen their new dash?

Splattacular1 2026-03-15 01:40

I picked up the Tita Bend version off Temu years ago (now no longer sold) and then 2 more off Tesery (which might have been the last 2) a few months ago for a few friends that recently bought Teslas. That curve in the Tita Bend version is perfect for the behind the steering wheel dash.

hidrafish 2026-03-15 02:17

How is your dash light half red and half green?

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:18

The enhance commander allows that functionality to represent when the turn signal for that side is active. More information here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/s/ey854wdPgu

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:20

I have and don’t think I will consider purchasing it because of some of the reasons I shared in this post already.

bedel99 2026-03-15 02:22

Do you mean the mount? I have that its great, but i will be replacing it with the dash (which I cant see you mentioning any where) in a few days.

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:23

Yea it’s mentioned in the description, a whole section. https://preview.redd.it/gjo6wid6d4pg1.jpeg?width=1206&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5f0aea8e09cf0b539523f9ca09608724444d7d6

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:28

That’s great you found a solution you like! 👍🏽The feedback which inspired me was from 2022 in the tesla model 3 forums. I shared a link. I still like the color and material of that one and how it blends into the factory plastics even better than my current setup. Though, it doesn’t provide as much movement, flexibility, adjustments like mine does. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/cool-magsafe-iphone-holder-behind-steering-wheel.281902/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

bedel99 2026-03-15 02:36

Aah, I pay a lot less for the dash than you might, and I have had the thing you have for a few years now. I believe the first round has gone out, and the second batch (the one I am in) goes out this month. I only live an hour away from where they ship from, and they tend to priotise us here over the international sales.

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:43

That’s cool, if it’s useful for you and comes at a good value, it’s great you bought it and I hope you enjoy the experience. 👍🏽 I just don’t see any benefit of it for me personally except for some minor convenience. I really like this company so I’m sure the dash will be a solid product. I’m really glad the company continues to push updates for the phone app though. (Like my last picture shows. Btw , it looks like the company somewhat modeled their new dash mount design from this Etsy seller I shared a link for below. So for some people, they may even consider just buying this Etsy mount and still using their phone with the added benefit of wireless charging at a fraction of the cost. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1896576317/dashboard-charging-mount-for-updated?ref=share_ios_native_control

bedel99 2026-03-15 02:46

I leave my phone far too often in the mount when I get out. I never used to leave it before on the charger. You would think, right in my face would work, but no. What do you have then? the buttons?

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:47

I have my phone using the sexy app connected to a cheap retractable mount I found on Amazon and retrofitted to my car. It serves its purpose well. I also use S3XY buttons and the left stalk, with their commander.

bedel99 2026-03-15 02:47

but you have a commander?

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 02:49

Yes, otherwise I wouldn’t have access to the mobile dash app I shared in this post.

Mount_devine 2026-03-15 03:22

what is the app called. i cant find a s3xy app in my appstore

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 03:51

Orpheus31 2026-03-15 13:32

How do you charge the phone?

Suvi2k 2026-03-15 16:20

This isn’t a wireless charger setup. I have a wire close by that I can use if needed.

dglawyer 2026-03-15 16:59

In most collisions the phone would go flying forward or to the side, away from the driver. No?
