LOL
Not worth it
I hope you watched all richrebuilds especially his podcast guest appearances go have an idea what you just did and what it requires
I think it’s fucking sick if you can do some of the work yourself
Wow. That is a big project. But I guess you wouldn't take it on, unless you didn't know what you were doing!
tesla does sell paint repair kits for “ultra red”; you’d probably only need ~60 of them for this job and it’d be good as new
Ultra wide body kit coming soon !!!
depends on how much OP can do themselves. that’s easily $30k worth of damage at a tesla authorized body shop but with 3rd party parts and all your own labor, could potentially be a steal.
I'm rooting for you.
Oh snap! <insert congrats I hate you meme>
At $75 a pop lol might as well get a sweet wrap on it and don’t even bother painting all the new pieces
228 miles only on a such a beautiful machine, it’s a shame
Looking forward to the final shots
The battery alone is worth more than that. Good deal and it looks fixable.
Hm, I reckon the battery (this would be an essentially brand new 82 kWh Panasonic NCA pack) is basically worth that price alone… A lot of work though if you want to DIY this up to a drivable state again though.
Rich will buff it out with a Magic Eraser and pull out the dents with his favorite butter knife.
An argument could be made that someone who didn’t know what they were doing could buy it just as easily
Looks like an awesome project. Please keep us updated!
Worth it, the battery and both motors are good interior looks to be ok. Those things alone are possibly worth 45k
Grind it into “super high grade ore”
Keep us updated please
Just my two cents; mine was backed into and only the front corner of the car was hit (picture 2 here looked almost identical to my damage). Insurance paid 13k just to repair that and the wrap. Hopefully to get this fixed up you aren’t spending 30k+. Best of luck and hope you can make it work!
Buy a wreck. Whatever!
Wow complete side swipe this is At least $25k
15k + 30k in repairs…. for a salvage tesla with no factory warranty? Call the cops!!!
i thought you were serious for a second
This makes me sad… what a shame…
Hopefully the battery hasn't been removed or emptied... like happens to a lot of salvage Teslas
This is proof that M3P’s are way too much car for most people.
Exactly. This is my 100th salvage Tesla lol
It actually wasn’t a side swipe. Another Tesla caused it to crash and it flip on its side. I have the dashcam 😂
Cars never sound the same after an accident and this doesn’t look minor. Getting ultra red to match is also hard so it’s likely going to need an entire paint job too.
The only thing I would worry about is the battery and coolant line. Did that front wheel damage the coolant lines behind the fender liner?
It’s just a minor flesh wound
Dayum. Thru a business or just personal projects?
My dream is to find one of these and turn it into an off-road capable vehicle.
Post it!
No it did not. Only thing damaged was the strut/knuckle and rods https://preview.redd.it/9mq3tpx835og1.jpeg?width=901&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7103fd5247d29a8caed4c5ad035b001c58abbdb
Both. I also have a cyber truck in the works lol https://preview.redd.it/jjsic6vl35og1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23d028f6a73ee5293acc2fe29cf4a9b947df4ca5
You got it! Keep an an eye for it lol
No, it’s not
More power to ya, I got pissed off just changing the air filter😭
Anything is fixable. You and me just don’t want to spend the time & money on parts (apart from probable lack of technical abilities)
Love it working on a X rn but damn parts are expensive
Have you checked with EPC already? You can order 80% of parts now.
I have a shop account but some parts were cheaper from ebay
Right, gotta check on both ends. A lot of stuff is cheaper from Tesla mainly suspension/srs
I know someone that had a 2025 meet it's demise with similar miles on it. Booze and behind the wheel are not a good combination.
Dude! Tell me about it. 😂 These cars have one of the most advanced car technology but man, the location of those filters or the design is just unbelievable 😂😂
What? 🥴 I just said the battery alone is not worth more than $14,500
why they sold is so cheap, battery + interior alone would be more than 14k.
Good to hear these are being saved by capable people. How’s your experience with them getting taken ofd supercharger network because of the salvage titles?
2 sentences, both with a statement. 1 bold response without naming the statement. Apparently the response was to the first sentence…. Confusion all over, reaction incoming…. Ps agreed. second hand battery, barely damaged, seems like a stretch to value it at 14k.
👀
The Tesla parts catalog literal has the 24' M3 Long Range battery listed for $14,500....
Well my boy, this is not a long range, nor is the price you gave more than the price listed 😉
After you’re done, sell it to me for $25k-$30k! 😂
Now Dad, do you think you're being a little difficult. I think that we can extrapolate that a newer model in a performance package would most likely be more expensive. Also the 24' M3 AWD listed in the Parts catalog was listed at $14900.
Eh.. maybe I have been a little rough on you. I’ll sit this one out
20-30k worth of damage easy. That's if the battery isn't damaged.
It’s not bad. Level 2 charger works fine. They can also be inspected by Tesla and once it passes it’s back on the sc.
Replacing the high-voltage battery on a 2026 Tesla Model 3 Performance, outside of warranty, is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $20,000, with many estimates landing around $13,500 to $16,000 including labor. The Performance trim uses a high-capacity, nickel-based 2170 cell pack, often around 75-82 kWh. Source: Find My Electric (https://www.findmyelectric.com/blog/tesla-battery-replacement-cost-explained/) Tesla parts catalog for 2024 AWD battery which isn't the same as the 2026 performance one (which would cost more) is $14,900: https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/8d917dc8-c246-44ab-9a0b-069127b4262c/categories/e04bc33f-f79e-42f7-95c4-fbb05d488151/subcategories/9a7eedf2-86b7-4c9c-8182-54f64fbc8f2d/systemGroups/85b4ca5e-a17c-4292-bb87-bff9dbefe35c He got a great deal. Even the headlights are over a grand each. The tires and rims look ok and could easily sell for a few grand. The FSD computer is likely undamaged which is also worth a lot of money as are the cameras. That's not even including the interior yet or miscellaneous parts. So he could part the car out and turn a very nice profit. Also, even if it is a gigacast frame, it is fixable.
That’s a Google response. You can get it done for 8-12k. But obviously, like anything, you could pay much more if you wanted too
You're never getting a 2026 M3P new battery for less than $15k.
2024-2026 battery. It’s not new to this year making it somehow way more expensive…
oh nice, I always read it was just super risky and tesla tended to not approve them again. I'll definitely consider buying a salvaged Tesla next based on this. I've done a lot of work on cars in the past and don't mind if my car has some body damage. Also you gotta love those workshop manuals Tesla has for free right? Best step by step breakdown instructions I've ever seen. I read a bunch of them just for fun
The cost of a new pack is not the same as the value of a second hand pack that has been in an accident
Yes. It’s simple. The public can even buy parts now
Just wrap it and replace the mirror.
that’s only ~$4,500 (60x$75) though…. $19,000 all in ($4500 for the 60 individual paint kits + $14500) for a brand new Tesla is a steal ! he can probably even sell the 60 microfiber cloths that come with the paint kits on ebay to reduce the costs even further
😂
Thats a big reason these “salvaged” teslas are getting scooped. People are having one quarter panel hit and it’s 17-20k worth of damage with no frame damage. Insurance writes it off but in the future this won’t be a problem
Half way through changing it I was wondering why the hell I didn't just pay Tesla to do it
Imagine that while in a car for 100$ can drive itself for a month
It looks like the main screen is on in the photos, unless they removed it after taking them...
Eff painting this thing. Just wrap it
I don't drink and drive, but I figured if I even found myself in a situation where I had to, I'd just pay the $100 and trust it'd probably drive better than I would.
That’s a long M3. Will it even fit in a garage? What year did Tesla start making 26 footers?
Believe it or not, the driver claims to have turned it on; the couple definitely bought FSD with the car. Tesla disagrees though.
That pass front is going to be a lot of work especially. Could just be control arms, but could be some subframe damage too. Too risky for me.
Use some common sense bud. An AWD battery is $14,900. You somehow think a performance battery will be cheaper? Take the L and move on.
As long as it took no damage, which it likely didn't, this thing is nearly brand new. It's not hard to verify.
It was just the knuckle, arms, and shock.
🤦🏻♂️
Facebook marketplace is flooded with salvage Teslas. Who buys them?
Yea me too, saved maybe $20 on the labor 🤣 If you have a shop vac I do recommend cleaning your own radiator, it’s VERY easy and there’s a few tutorials online to make it even simpler
Since he said this is his 100th salvage Tesla, I feel like your “help” is unnecessary.
He did?
What are your typical buyers? I would be to concerned about the deactivated super charger access and liability in general. But tbf, here i Germany people, including myself, might be too liability and safety oriented.

There’s always a buyer
Yeah saw it shorty after you posted. Guess it wasn‘t there when I originally posted mine. Thanks for the effort :-)
Tesla does an inspection of the battery and reactivates the supercharger if the car passes
I got a 2025 (legacy) model y long range rwd with 900 miles front end damage. Simple parts replacement with no frame damage. Was even able to find color matched parts so didn’t have to paint. All in for about 23k including the Tesla HV inspection and registration.
Nice, then I hope this is quite a good business
For the businessmen I’m sure it’s fantastic! Haha. I just have experience with fixing cars and salvage title cars don’t bother me so I wanted to get my wife a model y to commute to work on. Actually my first Tesla I’ve done and I looked for one that had minimal damage.
Damn i will buy from you if you are in California
This is a great find
I’m in Los Angeles. Bring me 25k 😁
I might actually. Can i DM you?
Wtf. And yet CarMax offered to give me $16,000 for a 2022 Model 3 in perfect condition
I mean.... I don't think ANY manufacturer really puts the cabin air filters in a reasonable place. Doesn't help that there ISN'T much of a "reasonable place" to put it that's easily accessible anyway, since all the HVAC hardware is typically in the middle of the dashboard.
Feel like this is one of those "Hope that TeslaCam captured its final moments prior to the major oof" situations. I mean what the hell happened to that car after not even 250 miles?
This is what I wanna do. I wanna get an X so bad
I mean, if you can hang a TV on a wall yourself, you should be able to fix that
Man, I have the dash cam but the mods here didn’t let me post it lol
The values have gone down drastically
Well.................. That sucks
Dang, that owner didnt even get to charge the car 💀✌️
After you fix it, do you get back it to Tesla charger network or not? Can you explain the process a bit? Does it stay Salvage title or you do rebuild? Because i had idea to do the same.
Tesla allows inspection to use the supercharger again after it’s fixed. 90% of cars pass and can charge once again. I don’t do this to all cars since most people charge at home. In the end it will be a rebuilt title
In numbers what’s typically purchase price compare to money invested to fix them? Without labor cost since you are fixing them yourself correct?
Carvana can pay better
For that price I would consider buying it swap panels, doors etc wrap it and make it a track car!
Or at least that person. My 16 year old daughter handles my M3P just fine.
Sooo. Did it come with the USB drive?
The filters are also much larger on teslas compared to most cars, especially the HEPA ones. But also my old Honda accord was really easy, just pop the glove box off the hinge and it drops down to reveal the filter
The HEPA filter is massive, yea..... but it's also quite easily accessible under the frunk panel. And the main thing that makes the interior cabin filter such a pain is not only the location, but also that it's two filters stacked in a slim area. And yeah, an "old" car will have a bit of an easier time with filters. Or just a car with a smaller dash in general. The filter in my 2016 Smart ForTwo wasn't too terrible to access from what I remember, because there wasn't a lot TO the car to get in the way of anything.. The car I had prior to that... a 2013 Dodge Dart... same as the Tesla, but had to remove the side of the center console, then the trim they had under the dash to gain full access to slide the filter out (Model 3 you need to remove the trim under the dash then the side of the center console).
All day! As long as you have $20k extra
https://preview.redd.it/378rvtaotqog1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c0d5a1ef4b4c048423c505571a468a6845fb9fa This is me removing that screw to get into those filters 😆
On my 2018 model 3 it was so damn tricky, on my current 2023 model 3 it’s a lil easier because it’s on the bottom instead of the top. Still in an awkward spot but I won’t break my wrist trying to unscrew lol
Hi Op, I see you have a business in fixing salvaged vehicles. How much do you estimate it takes to get this in proper shape? (Parts only and then parts with labor) Thanks in advance for any insights!
Bro totalled it before he got it home lmao
Well the car that caused it to crash was another Tesla. lol it came into its lane and smashed front right and flipped on its side
Wow, what would you charge me to make me a Roadster?
