Highland Scroll Wheel Fixed! Stalk Retrofit Did the Trick

hexx0r | 2026-03-04 12:04 | 29 views

Hey everyone, For the ones having a "pre-Turn Signal Stalk Highland" and still struggling with the Right Scroll Wheel unreliable clicks: After I did the official Model 3 Turn Signal Stalk Retrofit, the issue is gone! The right scroll wheel click is now way more decisive, still has some debounce but doesn’t trigger wrong actions anymore. Double-clicks for Autopilot work perfectly, no more surprise regen. If you’re still fighting it, the retrofit is the only way. Hope this helps!

Good feedback. What model year is your Highland?

Produced in Giga Shanghai November 2024, Premium RWD Standard Range. As far as I know all the other stalkless configs suffered the same issue…

I haven't done the stalk retrofit, and this drives me nuts! Hmmmmmm

starkiller_bass 2026-03-04 23:46

Doesn’t the stalk retrofit include replacing the whole steering wheel?

What year highland and variation of the car? I haven’t had issues with either scroll wheel on my 2025 and opted for s3xy stalks as they were cheaper and offer way better functionality.

Can you explain the issue? I have a Giga Shanghai 2024 Rwd Model 3 and i have no issues with the right scroll wheel

Ours (2025 M3P) will periodically just ignore your press. It is a very apparent physical click of the wheel, but with no response from the car. Very annoying when you press it to engage ACC/FSD and release the accelerator. When it doesn’t register your click, it starts regen-braking. On the contrary, when you attmept to disengage it and it also doesn’t respond does make for some hairy situations.

Thanks for that. I had no idea that was an issue

Correct

Got it. So the solution to one button not working consistently that should be covered under warranty is to buy a turn signal stalk retrofit kit that happens to include a whole new steering wheel and all of the buttons in it. Seems sensible.

Quite… someone could argue that the individual user could be more or less subject to the issue due to personal taste and “sensibility”. Somehow I got used to it by training myself to do slower and firmer clicks, but it didn’t feel normal. The fact is that the new wheel buttons are undoubtedly superior, and way less prone to “unintended actions”.

Yeah the right scroll wheel sometimes doesn't register a click or an up/down movement. Very annoying. Really looking into getting the retrofit as I want the stalk as well for my 2025 M3 RWD LR
