I wasn’t a fan of the 20’s when I tried them on a performance either. 18’s feel great with factory sized tires. 19s also feel excellent (nearly no difference I noticed to the 18s) when paired with 245/45R19 tires. Martian wheels, apex wheels, MPP, UP, T sport line all make wheels that can support the car with a a direct hub bore size but you don’t need to stick with them. The adapters work fine. Head over to the Tesla forum to understand if anyone has specific 18s that have/had clearance issues with the calipers on the performance.

That would be great? Which forum is it? or if you can find the thread that would really help me out.. I'm hoping my Rays Gram lites are the right fitment without spacers etc.. I would go 19's, but as my post said the 19's on my STI rode like hell.. so I want a tall sidewall tire and just take the L on looks. I'm getting to old to crash over bumps.. lol

All good, go with what makes the most sense for you. A lot of people love 18s and the comfort they provide on their performance. Here a link to the mega thread for after market wheels. Hope it’s helpful and you can directly message someone.

as a M3P owner, I recommend sticking with 19"s OP

Can you explain why? Obviously 19’s and 20’s look better. I’m switching to be able to put a tie with sidewall on them.. help with less crashing over rough roads… do you think I can accomplish that with 19’s?

There are many companies that cater to teslas. I went with 18” atomic wheels for my ‘23 m3p and I’m very happy. There is also Martian as well.

I think 19"s for a performance model is the sweet spot (it's what I'm on atm) - 18s are too small and too low to the ground imho. 20's are too susceptible to damage (depending on brand/aftermarket) and reduce range.
I've found that 19's work and look great - but this is a subjective stance and understand if you rather go 18s, they are indeed the most range efficient.

Well. I’m not stuck on 18’s. If I can run 19’s with a 45 sidewall without rubbing I’d do that. I also have no desire to go staggered. Looks cool. But you can’t rotate. I’ve heard these cars cook tires fast as is. I’d like to at least be able to rotate.

Atomic and Martian are brands or models? I suppose I could google. lol.. I’ve been wanting Rays Gram Lights for 6 years now. The stick wheels on my STI were nice though so I never did it. I’m gonna drive on the 20’s for a few weeks and see if they are livable.. but I’m almost certain the first pothole is gonna chip a tooth.. lol

depends on driving habits. If you stay on Chill Mode and rotate tires periodically you'll be good.

Meh. I drive pretty aggressive when it’s safe to do so so that’s a mixed bag. I’m not racing at every stop light. But if there is open road. That Tesla is getting the sauce. lol

The reason people only recommended “Tesla Specific” brands / wheels is because the wheel could very possibly rub against the big red calipers. Confirm whatever wheel you get is made for your Tesla otherwise you can rock whatever wheel you just might need to shave down the caliper to make them fit properly. I bought AW21 Wheels from Atomic Wheels for $780, they are 18x8.5 for my 2022 Model 3 P, waiting on finishing my last tread life on the uberturbines and then I’m putting them on with 235/45/18 pilot sport 4S tires

Yes. I’m familiar. My STI had giant Brembo brakes. So that was a big factor when buying aftermarket wheels.. same type of deal hear. I’m not sure if the M3P brakes are as massive. But same issue.

lol. My friend with the Cyberbeast told me this upfront. He said “I’ve driven with you.. you need to set aside money each month for tires” 😂. Let me ask you. He said his cybertruck uses tires with sound deadening foam in them and they are super pricey. That’s just for the trucks right? Not for the cars.. or at least not needed and I can get my tires of choice?

yea you get whatever tires you want as long as they are the right fit and size. Ive been rocking the pilot sport 4S for a while now and they are super grippy. I'm getting new wheels soon, though, so im gonna have to shop around again

Michigan is tricky because there's 6 months of Winter.. lol.. I will probably stick with my go to Conti DWS+06's.... Those Pilots are sweet too though!

Rays are fantastic. I just figure they’d get stolen if I chose them. Atomic wheels, https://atomic-wheels.com/collections/wheels and Martian wheels, https://martianwheels.com/ are websites like t-sportline. They make it sound like they make them but you’ll see similar designs at both sites so there is probably some sharing of designs maybe. It’s possible they both use a contract manufacturer. I went with these https://atomic-wheels.com/products/awj6-wheels and I really like them. The ordering was super easy and relatively fast. Took them to americas tire picked out the tires and they were ready in about an hour. Took a stressful event to a piece of cake.

I'm really stuck on Rays... just gotta make sure they will fit and I'm getting them :) There has to be someone that can confirm fitment etc.. :)

Dropping to 18s is Defo the right move as you’ll feel the difference immediately. A buddy of mine daily drives his M3P in Chicago and said the same thing "18s saved my sanity.” If you want something that definitely clears brakes, people round here run 18x8.5 +35 or 18x9.5 +35 with no issues. Your Rays 57DRs would look sick on this car and the fitment works as long as you stay around that offset. Last month I wanted rims for myself and I fell down a rim shopping rabbit hole last month and noticed they had a few 18" setups way cheaper than what Tire Rack and Costco were quoting me. Stuff like Enkei RPF1 18x8.5 was showing around $289 to $310 per wheel while Tire Rack had them about $40 to $60 more each. If you price it out for all four wheels, that was like a $150 to $200 difference so might be worth at least peeking at.
