If you tint the front windshield, you are a tard.

Inevitable_Ad_711 2026-02-21 03:43

Windshield looks good 👌🏽🔥 I went 15 on mine and 5% on windows

coffeebeanie24 2026-02-21 03:56

Good luck with your future accidents

Yep, have fun explaining that to your insurance company when they deny your claim.

PuzzleheadedEscape20 2026-02-21 04:13

😂

andrewjphillips512 2026-02-21 04:15

Had to go with 70% on the windshield by law.

7venhigh 2026-02-21 04:20

How do you see out of the front windshield?

coolj34 2026-02-21 04:23

Yall act like every other vehicle on the road doesn’t have a tinted windshield. Start looking at the oncoming traffic and you’ll notice at least 50% tint is on half the vehicles anymore.

teckel 2026-02-21 04:26

70 ceramic isn't noticeable and blocks a ton of heat. 35 is reguarded.

Slight_Wasabi4308 2026-02-21 04:29

Did they do the whole rear window or half?

Main_Yak5601 2026-02-21 04:37

Thats the perfect amount i did 50% windshield tho

razle_dazle 2026-02-21 04:45

Cool. So those idiots jumped off a bridge, why don’t you do it too?

Schnitzhole 2026-02-21 04:45

Let FSD take the wheel 🙌

TaxFraudCPA 2026-02-21 04:49

I have 35 windshield, 15 every other window and it’s not an issue whatsoever. Living in a rural forest with no streetlights, the headlights are bright that it doesn’t cause issue.

Omacrontron 2026-02-21 05:11

Half, it’s already tinted on the upper portion.

Doppio914 2026-02-21 05:32

Sickkkkkkk

nachos3 2026-02-21 05:42

Looks super tacky too

CJdawg_314 2026-02-21 05:56

50% is not a visual impairment by any means

razle_dazle 2026-02-21 05:59

You can lie to yourself all you want, but if you wanna sit here and say that blocking HALF THE LIGHT from coming into your windshield at night wont hinder your driving ability, I don’t know what to tell you.

Why is everyone so mad about this lmaoo

1blty 2026-02-21 06:14

Having 50% on the front windshield makes no visual difference from the inside. Had it and saw perfectly fine at night lmao.

Jimmy_Durango 2026-02-21 06:16

People can’t just let others enjoy their own version of life.

CJdawg_314 2026-02-21 06:19

I don’t think you’ve driven a car with 50% windshield so there’s no point arguing this. Live with a car with 50% for a week.

Jimmy_Durango 2026-02-21 06:20

I have an appointment coming up soon for exactly this same scenario. Quicksilver Highland with 5% everywhere but the windshield (35%) and the top I’m leaving stock since it’s already heavily tinted. It’s kind of crazy to me to see this post! Looks great 👍🏻

dreadstardread 2026-02-21 06:35

35 isnt really an issue

wasdesc 2026-02-21 06:44

I did 50% as well.. also so as to not draw too much attention by law

coolj34 2026-02-21 07:12

Jesus doesn’t require a subscription! 🙏

coolj34 2026-02-21 07:16

Have two. You must have bought cheap dyed tint and that could have been your issue. High quality ceramic isn’t a visibility issue and makes a large difference on cabin heat. Notice OPs interior picture in the comments for all the proof you need.

ErmaGherd12 2026-02-21 07:43

actually... interesting point; if there's tint on the front windshield, which covers the forward-facing cameras, does that impact the camera's visibility / FSD's visibility?

949mtb 2026-02-21 07:51

Did the same combination on my M3. Frankly, it makes the entire car so much better. Looks great from the outside, and is so much cooler on the inside. Now I need to get the gallery lights in my garage!

coolj34 2026-02-21 08:02

They don’t remove the cameras to tint. It’s cut around it.

Sampsa96 2026-02-21 08:41

When are they going to release the Tesla Roadster globally? 😴

betteroffdyiing 2026-02-21 09:04

c0nstant 2026-02-21 09:44

Half looks weird when looking from the inside and then you’re missing out on the benefits of ceramic

-eccentric- 2026-02-21 10:22

I am so glad that you're not allowed to tint the windshield and front side windows at all over here. Shits dangerous. The only thing more stupid is tinting lights, especially tail lights.

Away-Scar7754 2026-02-21 11:22

She looks great

Away-Scar7754 2026-02-21 11:25

I put 70 Ceramic on my windshield for exactly the purpose of reducing heat. No issue with sight or reflection

Away-Scar7754 2026-02-21 11:26

I did half and you are right there is a noticeable line from inside the car, but it doesn’t bother me in the least. And in the hairiest days of the year I use a roof sun screen/shield to really knock down the heat

rattler843 2026-02-21 12:00

IttzAngel 2026-02-21 12:02

ELLLI0TTT 2026-02-21 12:08

Tesla sees for him so he doesn't have to worry about where he's going 🤣

Abject-Yak4457 2026-02-21 12:41

Did you check to see if the windshield is legal to tint? Most states don’t allow

amoeba1126 2026-02-21 12:45

Probably because it makes the car less safe. It’s like tinting headlights where you are lowering safety purely for aesthetics. Usually the folks that make these decisions are only thinking about their own perceived safety (I can still see so it’s safe!) and not realizing or ignoring that safety isn’t just a personal thing but something that usually affects those around them too.

amoeba1126 2026-02-21 12:46

When it comes to cars, their version of life overlaps with the rest of us. You and OP might not care but most of the rest of us certainly do.

Mctoasty710 2026-02-21 13:19

With his eyes

Kooter37 2026-02-21 13:45

It’s easier to see out of the car than many think it is. The more external light you keep out the easier it is to see out of the car from the inside. I will say this setup will make it difficult to see out of your back glass at night. But I guess that’s what cameras are for.

JFreader 2026-02-21 13:52

Not allowed in most places in the US, but yet still done.

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 14:36

FudgeYouPaMa 2026-02-21 14:38

InsertShortName 2026-02-21 15:00

Not being able to at all seems like overkill. In Texas the limit is 25% on the sides and 70% in the front. Just got mine tinted a few weeks ago and it’s been a lot better. No visibility issues at all but a lot of extra protection.

Redrix_ 2026-02-21 15:09

I wish I left my roof glass alone. Its too dark now

Jimmy_Durango 2026-02-21 15:11

I really cannot understand how you’ve come to this conclusion. I know many people who have had tinted cars for years. I don’t know of a single crash that could be contributed in any way to having tint. You’re reaching with a conclusion that only makes sense to you and maybe a couple other people. The reality is that you’re wrong and that the very small percentage of crashes somehow related to tint aren’t even known and only theoretical.

nachos3 2026-02-21 15:28

You can have normal tint without it being hood

nachos3 2026-02-21 15:29

Tint is the same price regardless of darkness

nachos3 2026-02-21 15:29

This is a myth. 5% is still 5% regardless of what type of film it is

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 15:29

It’s a 45 thousand doller car, I think he’s fine, and anything below what he got and just about anyone driving on the road can see straight into your car. I’m trynna get road domed by my chick in traffic

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 15:30

Literally tint cars for a living, ceramic and higher quality tints are easier to see from inside out, especially at night

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 15:30

High quality tint is not the same price as the 200$ tint job on an Altima you’re referring to bud

nachos3 2026-02-21 15:32

Right so the Nissan altima stereotype. No one's looking in your car

nakedskiing 2026-02-21 15:41

This guys based.

r3000 2026-02-21 15:44

I think what people are failing to realize is that the tint may not be unsafe for the driver seeing out, but it’s unsafe for anyone trying to see the driver. If I’m walking or biking and waiting to cross the street at a light or a cross walk, I can no longer see the driver to tell if they see me. With the amount of distracted drivers these days, this causes big safety issues. You basically can’t trust anyone with overly tinted windshields and front windows.

ScaredPatience2478 2026-02-21 16:17

Tint is applied on the inside of the windows and cut around the camera, camera can see fine as long as the front windshield is clean

More_Length9991 2026-02-21 16:19

Chill big man. It’s really not that stupid, let alone dangerous (unless you’re hard of seeing tbh, aka to each their own if you can’t see just don’t do it). My front windshield is 20% tinted and I see just fine in pretty dark environments. It also depends on what material the tints are made of. Ceramic film (which I use) is pretty see-through from inside but much darker outside.

Away-Scar7754 2026-02-21 16:37

Admittedly it is technically illegal in my state. But, 70% VLT ceramic is a nearly invisible and blocks 99% of UV rays, reduces glare, reduces heat noticeably

mrandr01d 2026-02-21 17:03

I've never thought about tinting my car until very recently. How do I pick a good place to get tints done and how much does a good one cost? I do a lot of night driving so excellent visibility is a must.

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 18:22

Any reputable tint place will warranty your tint, I would look around your area and just find a place with decent reviews, look into ceramic or nano ceramic tint both are higher quality and most places will give a lifetime warranty for those just because the odds of you having to repair or replace is so low. I wouldn’t pay more than 600-700$ and no less than 400$

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-21 18:24

The prices I mentioned are for all windows btw, and teslas tend to be slightly more because most people want atleast a slight sunroof tint

-eccentric- 2026-02-21 18:47

There's an obvious reason why tinting them is illegal in most countries and states.

More_Length9991 2026-02-21 18:54

I get what you’re saying. It absolutely can be dangerous if the wrong tint is used or if someone already has poor visibility. But that’s probably not the primary reason they’re restricted. It seems more about law enforcement being able to identify who’s inside a vehicle, since heavy tint can make it easier for criminals to avoid detection. There’s a reason I’ve driven Teslas for years with full tint and almost never been stopped, whereas my experience would likely be very different if I was driving a beater or a less subjectively "high-end" vehicle

teckel 2026-02-21 21:12

My Subaru Outback has factory 70 tint on the windshield, 35 on the front side windows, and 20 on everything else. That's factory straight off the lot. While technically illegal in some states, I don't believe anyone is getting pulled over for 70 on the shield.

Ok-Sherbet4479 2026-02-22 02:51

I would stay away from anything less than 400$ because I wouldn’t trust the quality of the tint but it’s your money not mine, and anyone charging over 700$ is overcharging you.

betteroffdyiing 2026-02-22 02:57

Schnitzhole 2026-02-22 06:38

But wouldn’t there be a gap in the tint if the cameras were not removed to add the tint on the inside? I don’t see anything hinting at that in the pic

Last i checked it was 10% of your income. I’ll keep my cheaper FSD Chauffeur without making it awkward.

I have 5% all around but the front windshield is not getting it that dark my interior is black. Like someone said in the thread. My FSD drives for me most of the time. ScaredPatience2478 2026-02-22 13:10

Not sure why there would be a gap, professional tints are cut by a machine and are perfect so it’s flush to the camera module. Most tint techs don’t know how to remove the camera module anyway when you add tint the entire windshield will look dark you wouldn’t even notice that there is a part that wasn’t tinted. Plus camera wouldn’t be able to see if tint was applied and the moisture build up would ruin everything

SnooSquirrels9064 2026-02-22 15:23

It doesn't depend on what material is used. The percentage says how much visible light makes it through the tint. The material affects the amount of HEAT that makes it through

AcidKarp 2026-02-22 15:47

If you get a tint exemption you should be fine.

Ok_Establishment4346 2026-02-22 16:19

Radiant_Setting9172 2026-02-22 20:12

Really would you get a Tesla wrapped in the States for like $400-700? Prices in Romania are much higher. I’ve heard shops asking for 1500-2000€ for a full wrap, panoramic roof included

More_Length9991 2026-02-22 20:20

Darkness determines how much light enters. Material determines not only how much heat makes it through (you’re 100% correct) but also how CLEARLY that light passes through. We’re not debating opinions here, this is just how tint materials work. Yes, different films absolutely affect heat rejection. No disagreement there. But they also affect optical clarity, not just darkness. Higher-end films (ceramic) are designed to maintain better visibility because they produce less haze, less internal light scatter, and better glare reduction than dyed or low-quality films. That is LITERALLY why installers consistently describe ceramic as having superior clarity from the inside. Do a quick google search and you’ll see what I’m saying😭. Now obviously VLT still matters. A 20% ceramic tint will still be darker than a 75% cheap film. No one is arguing otherwise. I’m not even saying anything controversial lol this is basic tint physics and something any professional installer will confirm. Now if I’m wrong on this, I’d love to be corrected with some evidence people.

7venhigh 2026-02-22 20:27

Anyone think FSD subscription will go down or up since you can’t buy it outright anymore

enpixelate 2026-02-22 20:35

Why is it dangerous? I can see perfectly fine through tint. That also only matters for 3% of my driving anyway since according to my Tesla, 97% of my time in the car is with fsd.

benjamintua 2026-02-22 21:10

_Reduxious 2026-02-22 23:49

I have 5% all around and 35% front windshield. Idk how "shits dangerous" lol. Just use your eyes. Yeah in a dark ass road at night its a bit harder to see while in reverse but driving forward is practically the same and I enjoy the benefit of not being flashbanged by oncoming lights/other lights.

_Reduxious 2026-02-22 23:54

Have you ever once been in a car with similar tint setup? If not maybe dont say its completely obvious why its illegal. I have this tint setup myself, 5% all around with 35% front windshield. Its easy to see at night and day. I parallel park daily. It protects my leather interior, gives me privacy, helps me see when someone has their brights on or ive been in my non-windowed office all day but its sunny outside. It has benefits if you dont just immeditaly shut them down. Not everybody needs a fishbowl in order to not crash while driving lmao

_Reduxious 2026-02-22 23:57

The amount of people on this post complaining about the setup have clearly never ever stepped foot into a modern tinted car nor have any clue what theyre talking about 🤣 Nice work OP, looks great 💪

Idk. Dark tint comes off as tacky to me.  Dangerous and inconsiderate on the front windshield, but to each their own.

MrBojangerangs 2026-02-23 19:55

Certainly not allowed in any state. The lowest allowed by any state for the full windshield is 70%. With most states only allowing the 6 inch bar or "1" line.

Slava_Ukraini2005 2026-02-25 15:47

I tinted my windshield but it’s very high. I want to say like 95% or something. The intent wasn’t to black it out but to have the same heat rejection and UV protection that the rest of my ceramic tint offers. I have it written down somewhere but I think it was like 20% for windows and rear glass, 50% for roof and 95% (or something practically clear) for the windshield.

Jumpy_Salamander1192 2026-02-26 00:55

Maybe they’ll stop bugging people for tinting their windshields after seeing this…. I asked about tinting headlights once and Reddit made it seem like I just dropkicked a puppy

Windshield ceramic tint is a must here in Arizona. Almost no difference in visibility from the inside too.

Looks perfect man!

Uhhhh idk if it’s just me but did they tint in front of the windshield cameras? ☠️

Arctic_Ducky 2026-02-27 22:45

Yeah I can’t tell but if they tinted in front of it, damn. Imagine Tesla reviewing training footage and it looks like midnight during the day

If you dont know tint is put on the inside not the outside also theres cut out from where the rear view mirror housing and camera are.

I know, it’s just that from the photo it looks uniform.

I had 25% on the whole windshield on my old dodge challenger rt and I would absolutely never do it again. It was so unsafe to drive after dark.
