Hello, here’s a story about fixing my Tesla model 3 2020 long range AWD with 120k kms. It happened in january, and the weather had been around -10c for a little over a month. As I was driving to a third party service center to fix a broken boot light, a message popped up on the screen- powertrain requires service. Nice timing, I thought. At the time it seemed like a quick fix, 50-100€, 10-20min job. Well it turns out the front drive unit oil pump had failed. Oil pump failure on an electric car. How ironic. The exact error codes found in service mode: DIF\_a149\_OilPumpFailure; DIF\_a152\_linError Noticable things: \-No AWD, the car is now RWD \-For some reason, car and battery heats up much slower The service center didn’t have the part at that moment so I had to wait 3 weeks for the part to arrive. During that time I had an update available, so without much thought I installed the update. After that, 2 more errors popped up. The messages were: VCFRONT\_a172; GTW\_w055 Both related to “incompatible drive system software detected” It turns out when you have a problem with a module, in this case the front drive unit, it won’t update those modules. 3 weeks later, after the third party service center replaced the oil pump and reinstalled the update, everything works again. Let me tell you how nice it is to have all wheel drive again. Some say you won’t tell a difference, but yes you very much can, especially in snow. Total cost, including front and back drive units oil change, new front oil pump and labour: \~700€

My 2021LR car does wonder in the snow even with summer tires, obviously one needs to be very very very very gentle with all the controls and double the already doubled safety distances

My 21 M3LR, rear drive unit oilpump failure, cover by motor/battery warranty. Biggest PIA with it was being limited to 70mph

It gives the error when I charge my phone. It’s been like this since I got this car, but after a while it goes away.
