At 23 I was getting quoted $350+ a month from regular insurance companies, i ended up going with Tesla insurance who started me out at $100/mo, but it went up every month and my first renewal was an 80% increase from my original premium. Score was 94-98 the whole time. My 40-something coworker has a model x and he pays $95/mo on it

College graduate and work in IT at a pretty big corp. Got an extremely good deal on it with the lease being 700 a month 0 down for 36 months 15k miles a year. I'd never buy this thing lol way too much money and way too much depreciation. Leasing is the way to go. Geographical location also matters a lot, I have a motorcycle endorsement 0 tickets 0 accidents as well as all the discounts that I could muster up. Being in my families plan, meaning multi vehicle discount homeowner discount etc.

In a lease you’re essentially just paying for the depreciation on a new car and then not buying the used car. It’s pretty rarely a good deal but maybe in your case the car would depreciate more than $25,000 in 45,000 miles

Lol its all a preference, and for a split second I was saying maybe I should’ve got the ultra red because when I saw the quick silver in pictures it looked more vibrant and actually like silver, but when I got it in person it looker more gray. That split second was indeed a split second because I said nah, im still happy I got what I wanted.

I got my 2018 model 3, which is also my first ever car at 33 years old. At 21 I dreamt of owning nice car. Congrats and enjoy it! My advice is to be careful, it’s a fast car. Enjoy it safely!

sure! Ive had a bizarre journey and i dont mind the public knowing a little bit. Graduated High school in 2022. Went into the Air Force with a 93 on asfab. Went home after a few months because medical issues. Started as an Engineer Tech with Tesla as the lowest level luckily. Went in with 1 friend referral. Did that until 3 months ago, when I felt like it was a dead end. While doing Tesla for 2 years, i forced my Comp Sci associates. Planned to quit and go full time school for my bachelor's, but decided to apply as a contractor at our data centers here. It worked out. Just got $2700 after taxes for my normal paycheck as a Field Engineer supporting the data centers. I bought a new RWD a few months ago, but traded it in for my all black speedy boi also new just recently

Fairly loud creaks from multiple places in the car, subwoofer rattling like crazy, and this isn’t really a car flaw technically but when I bought it, there was the peak and off peak charging so charging was .21c/kwh when I would charge and they changed it to dynamic pricing so now it’s .36c or .40c/kwh. I was saving a lot of money over gas and now it’s almost just as expensive as my gas car but WAY more time consuming (if I charged at home, that wouldn’t be a huge concern though). As far as my somewhat “realistic” dream car, I would really like a 2026 MSP before they discontinue them. My somewhat unrealistic dream car is a 992 911 turbo s (or whatever the newest/ best gen 911 at that time is).

That's about what I paid for this exact same car with the same feature set toward the end of 2024 new (\~51). Awesome car, awesome deal. 10/10 would buy again.

It just wasn’t the car for me. I work from home so I don’t need a commuter, i couldn’t modify it, I didn’t really enjoy driving it, i couldn’t really travel with it, insurance costs were unpredictable, and it was just a big monthly payment which I didn’t feel like I was getting ROI from. I bought it impulsively, bad idea and unfortunately cost me about $11,000 in 7 months. Right now I’m driving a 20 year old Land Cruiser. I maintain it myself, it’ll run forever, I can take it anywhere, parts are easy to get. Gas mileage sucks ass though. I wanted to get back into a Tesla if/when I get a job that has me commuting to the office, but with the direction they’re going in I don’t think have a lot of confidence in Tesla. I’ll probably be going with the Rivian R3X when it comes out,

Congrats on your 3P. When I bought my first “dream car”, I was 22 years old. I saw it at an auto show at a convention center, sat in it and fell in love. It was one of the fastest cars on the road at the time, with tons of toque and acceleration. I had been saving for more than a year and had enough to pay cash for it. I hated the idea of paying interest. I also had my own insurance policy. I’ve owned 9 cars since then, still own 2, one my 2024 Model 3 LR AWD. My Model 3 has twice the HP and 70% more torque than my first dream car. Your 3P has more than 150% greater HP and over 100% more torque than my first dream car. My Model 3 is also my favorite car I’ve ever owned! I tell you this because you’re young, your life priorities will change over time and you will likely own many vehicles over your lifetime, and hopefully a few more “dream cars”. You own one of the fastest production cars ever made, as I did. Don’t take it for granted. You have a responsibility to be safe for yourself, your family and everyone else on the road. Also, I owned that dream car for 7 years and over 120,000 miles. No accidents. Kinda wish I kept it. Good luck with your car, stay safe and I hope you enjoy the hell out of it!

So i started at Tesla in 2023, roughly a year after High school graduation and my Air Force attempt failed. Once i started Tesla, i started college. Zero experience going into Tesla, just walmart (and of course to data center, just Tesla)

Went through the same thought process when I got mine. In the pictures it looked a lot more ‘silver’ but felt way closer to the stealthy gray when I got it. I still think about getting it wrapped to a British racing green.

Im experiencing the same thing with the creaks and my subwoofer rattling also! I guess it’s a defect in the 25 M3Ps. Charging at home is quite literally the only way you will “save” gas money because it’s more expensive to charge 2-4 times a week than filling up every 1 or two weeks. Even then the charger itself and the installation is basically one year of filling up with gas lol. As for your dream car I’m not really into porches but I pray that you will be able to achieve your dream of having it! If you think it’s unrealistic you wont get it, change your mindset to how you can get it.

I have statefarm Just practice defensive driving. At fault should never happen unless you are getting old age? And if you are young and scared of accidents you will cause then you need your driving license revoked 😬. Always drive knowing if something happened the other person is always at fault because my driving is overreactive and defensive. For both my new cars I have only liability and I live in Florida #3 in the nations highest car accidents lol. I'm doing liability only, but even with deductibles you shouldn't anything close to 80 or higher. Per car.

Well, the good news is teslas seats have a really good coating, as long as you clean the seats often you’ll be fine. I would wear black jeans almost every day, so I would have to clean the seats about every 2-3 weeks (give it a good scrubbing with baby wipes, make sure they are water-based or they’ll damage the seat coating) they are for sure high maintenance, compared to black seats which are almost zero-maintenance, but as long as you clean them as soon as you see stains you’ll be fine. Bad news is the coating doesn’t last forever, so there’s that. Also if you don’t clean the seats in time the stains become near impossible to get out fully, like mine eventually did. But if you don’t wear dark jeans very often I wouldn’t worry too much

The problem is that sometimes things happen that you can’t control. My dad had a tire blowout on the highway, and the tires were in good condition, but a blowout caused him to wreck and it was his fault. There are things that can happen no matter how defensive of a driver you are.
