Buying My Very First Car!

SP259 | 2026-02-18 16:52 | 215 views

Super Excited!!!!! I picked up a Model 3 2023, 23k Miles for $25,000. Standard range. Warranty expires in Dec of 2028 (dec 2027 for the 50k Standard plus the 1 year 10,000 Pre owned. on their website) I think. I have been driving a 2015 BMW 328I hand down from my parents while I was in school, but now with my big boy job I can afford something nice! (also the BMW decided to kick the bucket) I went used as lately new EV's Depreciat really fast. Is there anything I should know. I read getting mudflaps and floor mats are a good way to protect the vehicle. I was also concerned about the Intel vs AMD system on chip. How did I do!!

The best thing to know is to just enjoy the car. It's a very fun car to drive. In all seriousness though, you'll have lots of people tell you that you should get A or B for the car, but ultimately you don't really need anything special. Congratulations!! You got a good deal. Edit: changed X, Y to A, B as it looked like I was referring to the Model X and Model Y.

Good to know! Thanks! I think it going to be a super fun car!

If it’s a 2023, then you should have the AMD Ryzen, which runs best on Tesla. It’s the one most recommend. 👍🏼

And it’s a mighty fine first car indeed.

I’d actually say my model 3 has very little deprecation. Depreciation on the other hand…

Whoops lol

The BMW F30 was my trade in too. Ended up getting the exact same Model 3 as you because a new pope was elected in my BMW lol. Enjoy the car it's amazing!

You must be so excited 😆. My first car was a thousand dollar hooptie in 1987. Leaked almost a quart of oil every two days.

🎉 Congrats 🎉 Enjoy the new way of driving After a month or two, if you happen to drive a gas car, you are likely to leave it running or leave it unlocked with keys inside 😆 (I've done both)

Im thinking of trading my mazda cx30 for one but im unsure if it'll have less space LOL and worried about if it rains because in california it was flooooding and people were swerving on videos

Im in the same spot as you, but i have a cx5. I will say I've been in my brother's 23 model 3 and you definitely have more cabin space in the but you will lose a little bit of trunk space. Don't forget you have the frunk on the tesla so its a little added space.

Test drive one and wile you have it at your house put all your stuff in it and see how it fits.

The insurance quote is gonna be the deal breaker. Though the car is gonna be less than $5k to get... if insurance is high then I cant get it. Ive been having my license since 2021 with clean record in socal but my insurance being wawanesa ... its supposed to be the cheapest there is and its already pretty high

I've checked around and erie and progressive has decent rates. The rates will definitely go up atleast $40. Also depending on your srate you might have an EV tax with your tags. Tennessee is about $100 atm.

labubuking 2026-02-19 05:35

Did you check before buying the car so I'd just give a vin from tesla site? I read I cant see teslas insurance rates unless I already have a car

Personal_Carrot2725 2026-02-19 05:38

Have the same car 62,000 miles. Good post to show somewhere around my value

LFP battery chemistry should mean much longer charge cycles. They started in 2022 standard range so maybe not enough data yet. Theres videos just on LFP vs NMC… mostly about safety benefits, NMC has better energy density. Ryzen is a much snappier infotainment experience. It takes forever loading videos on the Intel chip. You can run Grok! When I bought my Model 3, I tested a 2022 Rebuilt LFP with very high mileage and a 2020 Model 3 RWD with low mileage and original owner, the 2022 was noticeably quieter the suspension felt tighter even though it had more than double the mileage and rebuilt.

Called my agent with 3 different vins and he gave me pricing for all 3 cars
