How do you remove the scratches under the aero caps

Sfkn123 | 2026-02-13 15:36 | 64 views

So I removed the aero caps by using a pry tool, and even though I only have 1k miles on the car, the wheels are pretty scuffed. I have tried Adam's hand polish so far and it got a lot off, but the scratches are fairly deep. What are you guys using to fix that. Thanks

Have the same issue. I think the only fix is to powder coat them

Not related to this post at all, but that color is just so sick. I'm awaiting my M3P with the standard white, but I'm thinking of going quicksilver.

Aw dang, I wonder if I need to reach out to a professional wheel repair.

I think that quicksilver looks great. My previous Teslas were gray and blue, but I've always loved silver with black wheels.

Sand, putty, prime, paint, done

Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound and elbow grease. If they don’t come out after that then you unfortunately were a little too rough with taking the covers off

Tolerance and acceptance. I have the same very minor leftover but kills me when I see it. Then I realize the only time I can see it is when I’m actively at eye level cleaning my wheels.

I curbed mine slightly and was able to effectively hide the damage with touch up paint of the same color as the wheel. You can consider that before you go ham and refinish the entire wheel

The proper way was to remove the wheels, snip the wires holding them in fro the back and carefully removing them right after pickup.

If the scratch is deep enough to catch on your fingernail it can’t be completely buffed out. This is why never bothered removing the aero inserts on my M3P. The scratches would bother me more than just leaving the inserts on

I want to see that evo

SkyCaptainStarr 2026-02-13 20:15

Quick 15 minute job no doubt

HEYitsBIGS 2026-02-13 22:23

That evo though

Worthy two car setup. 🔥🔥🔥

If you used a metal pry bar and not a plastic one, that was most likely the mistake.

waltamobile 2026-02-14 03:52

Nice Evo. Wish I had kept mine. 🫤

Exactly

I’m convinced some get scratched when they install the covers.

Quicksilver or Ultra Red on the Performance is the way to go. I’d strongly consider switching if you’re feeling this way. Not easy to change it up once delivered.

The_Soldiet 2026-02-15 14:28

Only problem is, quick and red is a 2k USD option where I live.

Jimmy_Durango 2026-02-15 22:22

They look like scratches but they polish off. I removed all mine. Paint on the wheels is undamaged. I used a microfiber and WD40 (very little) and it’s all gone.
