Appreciating the beauty and fitment

Edouard-Kikis | 2026-02-12 21:24 | 144 views

Just saw this and it really captured me, planning to do this with mine. Anyone here with the pros and cons of this type of mods or setup

As long as you know that this car is on air suspension and what I suspect are pretty heavy wheels

Edouard-Kikis 2026-02-12 21:30

Do you think this could affect some system functions when it comes with having an air suspension?

Fabulous_Scale4771 2026-02-12 21:31

I’m honestly been meaning to ask people what reputable wheel shop do u guys go to get your aftermarket wheels? So far I’ve been exploring fitment industries but not sure if I can trust it

ogmoochie1 2026-02-12 21:32

Slammed n' clean.

DarthChimpy 2026-02-12 21:35

Awful

Edouard-Kikis 2026-02-12 21:35

Yeah, I'm on that pace too, making sure that we find the best aftermarket parts for our units.

keithspexma 2026-02-12 21:36

its on air suspension and that has a clean fitment, nicely built

mmMOUF 2026-02-12 21:36

Stretching tires hurts performance and your ride quality will be worse. That is bags, not static, depending on where you live you might run into problems if it gets cold enough to cause issues with your air lines and you need to do maintenance on your air ride system regardless of where you are at. If this is static you are driving around with a giant lithium battery and basically your entire cars livelyhood a couple inches off the ground, on an ICE car you can just screw up your oil pan and your exhaust, on an EV you could burn it to the ground. If you have to ask you shouldnt do this

lordbancs 2026-02-12 21:38

No. It just means you’ll need a fairly extensive install (if you can’t do it yourself) Fwiw I will be putting air suspension on my 24 M3P (but I’ll be installing myself) It means additional maintenance (clearing water out of air lines periodically) and there will be some extra noise with the air compressors coming on (depending on how much you lift up and down) I’m honestly more concerned about the wheels, they look like range killers

Morpheus_blue 2026-02-12 21:39

Gorgeous !

Moistinterviewer 2026-02-12 21:40

The owner of that car works for signature wheels, really nice guy and he had a few different sets on there.

Edouard-Kikis 2026-02-12 21:43

Really appreaciated this insights. So I guess this is one or two of those many cons for having this setup. Probably will take this into consideration now. Thank btw

keo4real 2026-02-12 21:49

Slammed proper 🔥

mmMOUF 2026-02-12 21:52

its a large commitment google "tesla f140 avant garde", I really like that set up, those are about $2K a piece for the wheel -- $4K for the complete air system before set up/install, with tires, you are approaching the price for that old gen model 3 pictured

Suvi2k 2026-02-12 22:06

Air suspension is a pain in the A maintenance wise and noisy. Don’t do this if you live in colder climates. Also they have to run lines which will likely involve drilling holes etc in your car. If you don’t care about any of that, air suspension has the benefit of raising the car when trying to avoid obstacles and a particularly beautiful stance if done right. I had bags on one car and hated the hassle.

HondaHighway 2026-02-12 22:34

I’ve pretty much maxed out static fitment on my car. A little over 2” lowered, 5mm spacers all around, 18x9.5 all around with 275/35/18. She rubs pretty bad with anybody in the back seat just because of the meaty tires. Definitely know the car you posted is on bags lol. https://preview.redd.it/1awijx8055jg1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=198ddd56dc22a1b479a9a768bd015b6e48babbc2

Hushed_Rl 2026-02-13 00:36

Pros: adjustable ride height Cons: expensive, looks goofy (subjective ig)

hmspain 2026-02-13 00:54

I'm curious. Do people come up to the car wanting to buy a dime bag?

exgokin 2026-02-13 02:06

Car looks clean. The rear fender also looks like it’s been rolled/stretched.

Scuffedpixels 2026-02-13 02:09

Love the ride height. This is dope. Nice job!

filmagnoli 2026-02-13 09:16

Love it. I’m sorry, but I love the chrome much more than the black out current offerings. Mine is a 2019M3P and I like the chrome. Great pic!

Rollenopfer 2026-02-13 09:50

Looks cool. Was there still room for putting air in those tires?

TheLightKyanite 2026-02-13 10:01

Hi, I have a model 3 with air suspension. None of what you said is true. There is zero holes you have to drill to run lines and in colder climates, you just have to empty the tank and pull the fuse or empty your water trips every week or so. When was the last time you had bags and what brand for everything? You can also put air brake antifreeze in the tank and there’ll be no issues in colder climates. I know plenty of people who run them in places like Vermont

Suvi2k 2026-02-13 15:12

How is none of what I said true? Try using any search engine to post this same question and see what results you get. You literally described some of the annoying maintenance that comes with air suspension in your rebuttal. I lived in the north east and tried both accuair and air lift which are top rated companies which were also installed by professionals. The risk of air leaks is very high and typically caused by bad seals and poor fittings, more so in changing climates and it’s a real thing because it happened to many people I knew and not just a personal experience. Slow leaks are more common. Compressor burnout and height sensor issues come up as well but usually less often. You are right that not all cars require drilling holes but it is very common in many. You didn’t discuss the noise either. Overall, compared to coilovers or springs, aftermarket air suspension is more of a headache and simply not as reliable or have the same level of long term durability under normal usage despite what the manufacturers claim. Even oem manufactures of luxury cars have failures albeit its its at higher mileage(80-90k). How long have you had yours? I’m happy for you if it works out well but OP should know the risks and what to expect given the cost.

TheLightKyanite 2026-02-13 16:35

It’ll be three years this upcoming fall in September, and i’ve put around over 40k miles on my car since then. I’ve legit had none of these issues that you’ve described, except for the maintenance that you said that’s required for colder climates. Which IMO (this is subjective to everyone) isn’t that annoying, cause it doesn’t take very long especially with a car that requires no maintenance. Takes me about 2 minutes to empty my water traps, and a few minutes longer to completely empty the tank. Also noise wise, are you talking about the compressors? They are slightly noisy, but I haven’t really experienced it cause I have silencers on my compressors. I have the airlift system and the bags I have are bagriders super lows which are 75% thicker than everything on the market which is probably why I haven’t had issues. You are right though, coilovers or springs are generally more reliable and you don’t ever have to touch them or maintain them. The installation for bags is the most important part

Suvi2k 2026-02-13 16:54

40k miles without major issues is great. I’m glad to hear about your positive experience and appreciate the discussion genuinely. Keep an eye out as you approach this milestone for any issues or preventative maintenance through inspection if you haven’t. It was around the time I remember dealing with leaks.

TheLightKyanite 2026-02-13 21:38

Thanks man, I’ll definitely do a look through and make sure there isn’t any issues or anything else wrong. Sorry if it seemed if like I was coming at you btw I just haven’t experienced what you have Also another thing I want to mention for people like OP and other people reading this is that make sure you also buy new control arms, camber arms and toe arms if you do go with bags. Teslas stock suspension isn’t meant for aftermarket applications like air suspension and will fail. Aftermarket is more durable

Suvi2k 2026-02-13 21:43

All good and I always appreciate a healthy dialogue while hearing about other subjective experiences. Only fools deal in absolutes in something like this hah. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I enjoyed my air suspension for aesthetics even if (for me) the cons out weighed the pros at the time. For sure you need different suspension parts with this application but just as well for any type of lowering. At a bare minimum rear camber arms so you don’t eat your tires up once lowered.

TheLightKyanite 2026-02-13 21:46

Yep, gotta say I love my air suspension haha. I can slam it when it’s parked, and have it risen up anytime I want. Definitely not for reliability but can be if you maintain them. That’s completely fair though, you wouldn’t want to buy air suspension every time something went wrong. Always better to just get static parts like coilovers for reliability

HistoricalJob2807 2026-02-14 15:44

Lots of cons, but the pro is just too sexy. Fenders need to be rolled, the fronts can. The rears are difficult if you go very wide. You will need additional bars (camber, toe) and an alignment for your drive height. It’s worth it if you’re a car guy and don’t mind the angled driving and slow creep over bumps (because your battery is literally inches off of the ground). Being that low also will eat your tires up as there is only so much you can correct being that low. You gotta find a tire shop that will put on stretch tires, but also willing to rotate them for you every 5k miles. It’s a fun hobby and you will get a lot of attention. Oh, and expected to drop a lot of coin.

Substantial_Fold9815 2026-02-15 17:10

Looks dope, seem like no one around my area customizes their teslas, im afraid to change wheels to mess with range lol
