Maybe you could find it on Turo or some other car rental website to rent for a day?

Great choice. I got mine in August. I wasn’t able to test drive one until after I ordered it. They eventually got one at the showroom and I was able to drive it before taking delivery. Good luck with your choice for me it was worth it.

I share this opinion.
It's a nicer car to play with, the tradeoff is slightly less comfort due to the 20" wheels and the lower suspension.
To be honest, I won't take another performance after this one. I feel like I'm done playing, and would rather save money to buy a proper track toy.

There was only one place in my state that had one to test drive, and it was in a wealthy area.

Each point above is right on the money. What u/Mike_Stone_ says here are the reasons I just got the M3-2026-AWD after selling my 2018 M3 Performance. Love, love, LOVE it.

Thanks man. Youre making me reconsider. Between the price difference, the suspension, wheels and range, maybe the premium makes more sense.

Find one on turo. That how I got the Tesla bug. Rented a plaid and decided I needed one in my life. Albeit I settled for a model 3 because I already have a race car.

I had the same issue back in November when I was looking into getting a M3P. Tried to schedule a 48 hour test drive but didn't see any - not sure if they were all booked or if it wasn't a thing. So I ended up going to a Tesla delivery center and asked to do a weekend test drive - went through 3 and they didn't have any to drive, just one in the showroom to look at. Finally at the 4th delivery center, they just got one delivered and they let me drive it for 20 minutes but I basically sat in traffic the whole time due to rush hour.
When I got back, I told them that it wasn't really a test drive because of traffic and asked if I could take it for a weekend. Originally they said no, but a manager came by and asked if I was a current Tesla owner - and I am, so he opened my account and removed the 200 mile restriction and the 85mph speed limit, then handed me the keys. Ymmv.
It's dangerous, I feel like the M3p is better than the long range in every way. I didn't feel that way with the model Y.

My local Tesla store use to have them, but got rid of them all 3-4 years ago. I asked last year about them and they said the insurance on the performance version was unreasonable so they no longer test drive them

I bought my 24 M3P without a test drive too. It’s understandable they don’t have them available for test drives, because it’s a bit much for some people to handle when floored and people would be wrecking them regularly.
The performance is an amazing car and outperforms cars that cost 3x its price. It’s a 4 door sedan that eats exotic sports cars for lunch.
Only drawback is you’ll spend a bit more on tires when the time comes because they needed wider ones in the back to handle all the power it’s putting down. Tires on a ferrari would cost even more, but the tesla doesn’t need oil changes.
If you’re worried about tire cost or purchase price then practicality outweighs performance for you. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe you should consider a Y so you’ve got a hatchback and a hitch too. I didn’t like the ride height of the Y, but I haven’t been in a performance Y either.

One of the showrooms in DFW has it. I test drove it a few weeks ago. It’s off Mockingbird near Love Field.
Though if that’s not close, I’ll say the difference isn’t that that big that I felt like I needed to. The interior differences are nice, as is the acceleration, but I didn’t need to floor it or anything.

I tested a M3P for about an hour at the San Diego Miramar location 2 weeks ago. It was great

It’s worth it. They sell demos, so someone has to have them for test drives…
