I drive my Model 3 quite a lot as well. Once I installed my level 2 charger at home I was set. Coming from BMW I have to say Im really enjoying my Tesla

Agreed! I got the same model in November and I’ve never enjoyed driving this much. I finally decided to give FSD a go last week and it is so amazing. If it’s even better on HW4 then that’s saying a lot because I’m completely satisfied where I am.

Gorgeous car! When you get the home charger, just plug it in every night and start every day with a full tank. My normal day never exceeds 50%, so I just charge mine to 70% overnight. For trips, I just get in, set the destination and let it figure all that out.

Thank you for giving me hope! I’ve been running the calculations and yeah, range shouldn’t be nearly as big of an issue with a charger at home! So far though, I’ve been driving 20 mins each way to my local supercharger every day, sometimes multiple times a day 😭 My local charger was actually closed for 3 days (over the weekend thankfully) and I was sweating bullets!

Honesty, charge it to 90%. It makes almost no difference to battery health.

Why does everyone and Tesla say 80?

Why are you charging multiple times a day? What range are you getting currently?

Also coming up on a month and I wish I had made the switch sooner.

Really not worth the time. I spent nearly a year mostly supercharging locally and it got slower after 80%. Since I was sitting in my car, I generally stopped at 80. You don’t get any extra points for coming home at night with 40% instead of 20%. Or 1%, really! (Done that a couple of times - though it gets a bit nerve wracking). On trips, I just follow its recommended charge stops which typically keep it in the lower range for faster stops. I don’t baby my batteries. I found out the hard way, you don’t own a battery pack, you own a warranty. Most packs are replaced for failures that have nothing to do with the battery health. Something in mine malfunctioned after 4 years and 67,000 miles, and they sent my pack off to get fixed (“refurbished”), and replaced my carefully curated batteries with someone else’s “refurbished” pack and their batteries. It’s why I refurbished my warranty last year. I never go to 100% because it messes with regenerative braking and the car drives funny. (I also spent awhile on a mobile charger at 24 amps, and it got so slow towards 100% it actually gave up and stopped before it got there.)

It gets slow at 100% because it's balancing the cells. This is a good thing to do every once in awhile just don't leave it sitting there at 100% after it finally finishes. This is what keeps packs from failing with BMS errors is not charging to 100% and balancing all the cells.

Also, tilting center screen is a game changer by far my favorite mod. I got one for like $25 on the AliExpress and it goes all for directions. It’s great.

Yes I had a 2021 model loved everything about it but the range. Finally this yr I traded in that Tesla for a 2026 model 3 with the upgraded range so now I have plenty of range and I’m happy ☺️

I love the new model 3’s! The ambient lighting is so sick!

2020 purchased in late 2019. The point most people miss is that the battery pack is a complicated thing which has components and wires and cooling systems. The batteries are probably the most reliable parts. And when a capacitor inside goes phhht, or a wire comes loose, your service department doesn’t try to fix it - they just swap out the whole pack. Including all your batteries. So don’t abuse your batteries, but don’t baby them either. Like children, they might leave the nest before you are ready.

No, unfortunately I was already at the high end of my budget.

I understand that. I wish I would have done a bit more research before I pulled the trigger on my 21. If the car was built literally one or two months later, it would have the ryzen mcu. Legit one of the last cars with the Intel atom. While i still love the hell out of my car, there are a few features I would like to have. It's honestly bothersome that the Intel cars won't do a full screen car display in park!

Once you get charging for your home, it becomes a nearly perfect car. If you have to supercharge exclusively it carries about the same pros and cons as an ice car at that point.
