My 22 SR+ has been rock solid the last 4 years. I just hit 60k miles and no issues. I’ve gone through 2 sets of tires so far and that’s about it.

If you can share where you heard about these issues/recalls, that would help us to understand your concerns. That being said, I haven't had any issues with my LR AWD that I bought that year.

2022 is a sweet spot for a used Tesla M3. A lot of improvements on previous models, still has sensors, heating pump, matrix lights, Ryzen process, better build quality... To name a few.

I've got a 22 Model 3 Long Range with about 67,000 miles on it. I bought it a bit over a year ago and it had 53,000 miles on it.
No problems, no alerts, no maintenance for anything that isn't just normal for all cars (2 tires for road hazard) and a couple of windshield chips that I self-repaired.

Bought my 22 dual long range new 4 years ago this month. Love it still with 68k on my second set of tires. One warranty item was trunk lift piston replaced. A couple warnings cleared themselves. It’s a great car

I've got a 23 model 3 which is almost identical to the 22 and it's been fine for the last couple years. You do need to change the cabin filters every 9-12 months if you live in a hot climate with lots of AC use as it will pick up a smell. (I'm in Phoenix so... yeah, I'm on my 3rd pair of filters--about $30 a pair from Amazon. ) Otherwise, the only "recalls" were handled by over the air software updates. No other repairs besides tire rotations--though I do just now need new tires at 33K miles.

No issues with our ‘22LR either. Super car, lots of get up and go! (To borrow one of my father’s phases!)

Bought my 22 M3LR last April with 36k miles. Have 58k currently. Changed cabin air filter and had the original tires which I replaced. No other issues. I did have to update my preset charge limit to 90% from 85% for the winter temps. I have a 147 mile commute 3 days a week. I wanted a little extra juice in case I needed to go somewhere else.

Bought my 2022 M3LR new and it’s been great, very few problems: 1 airbag fault service call (at service center) 1 side camera replacement (at home) As others have mentioned, this year was the sweet spot. Bought it before I retired so it only has 16K and still going strong!

Same, I haven't had these issues. That being said I also know some of the recalls were addressed by software updates. I remember one was literally just the SIZE of the standard warning/icons being too small, so they just made them bigger.

2026-02-12 00:51
and I think 2022 was the year that the Long Ranges had slightly larger batteries, and had 358mi "rated" range.

Many recalls for teslas are just issues with something that can be fixed by over the air updates. So nothing mechanically wrong with the cars. Recall to make the cars stop doing california rolls at stop signs during fsd was probably one of them.?

I’ve got a 2022 M3 with 45k miles I bought brand new. Best car I’ve ever had by far. I just rotate my tires and I had my air filter replaced at the 2yr mark, probably will do so again in May (4yr mark)

I got a 2022 model 3 performance with self driving 2 years ago, 0 issues I’ve put 35k miles on it
Do have battery degradation though everyone has that, if your able to only charge to 50% around home, good for your battery long term

Often Tesla’s “recalls” are just over the air software updates and aren’t actually recalls at all, but because of bureaucracy, they get reported as such.

22 M3 with almost 84k miles, only issue so far was needing service to get the cruise control/autosteer back working properly, other than nothing to be concerned about.
Tires rotated every 7-10k miles, air filter changed every 3 months and battery gets about 305-310mi at 100% which is good enough for me considering it’s nearing 100k

Likewise. My very early 22 from Dec 21 has intel. But it also has ultrasonic sensors. I think those were deleted early 22. I was never going to buy FSD so it’s a good trade for me.

I’ve had 2 issues with my 22 M3Performance.
First, a small issue: The drivers seatback wasn’t installed properly. Simple fix I should have figured out by myself but fixed by mobile service for free.
Second a very big issue: the rear drive inverter failed at about 21 months of ownership. Car dead in the water. Towed to service center 2.5 hours away, fixed under warranty, along with giving me a free new battery and fixing a couple other small things I didn’t even ask for but were minor issues they found.
Overall very happy. Even though I spent $62K on the car. :)

On the coldest day which was a high of 32 degrees, I started at 90% and came home at 14%. This was 80mph and 71 degree heat setting. I’m mostly all interstate driving. By contrast, we hit 70 degrees this week. Started at 90% and came home at 26%. I’ll adjust my limits back down to 85% as the temperatures warm up.

I have a 2022 model 3 lr awd with matrix headlights. Best car I’ve ever owned. 73k miles never an issue. Does say my cameras are dirty. They don’t look dirty. But I don’t use FSD anyway so oh well.

I got a 2022 model 3 long range. I bought it on my birthday in March 2024 at 17,000 miles and now I’m at 52,000 miles. It’s honestly just the best car I’ve driven it across the country and back.

The main thing is you want them to make sure that it’s a ryzen cpu inside. I was asking dealerships and people to check for me. Basically the second half of the year they made them with the newest computer and it’s like way faster.

I just want to clarify 1 thing here. Not to detract from your point. But an important clarification.
Better build quality compared to previous Teslas. But still very below par compared to other makes by a decent margin.
I had a loaner 2023 a few month ago. Only 20k miles on it, and it was falling apart. Noises and squeeks everywhere. VS many rentals and loaners from other brands that are doing fine. by comparison. Even compared to my own 10 year old Kia. The newer Teslas fall apart fast if not taken care of.

The cabin air thing is definitely real. This sub has a lot of threads about it.
Unfortunately may cars that are sealed up very well suffer from the issue, as I’ve heard BMW and other owners note similar issues.
The problem seems to be how the AC coil is mounted relative to the filter. Whereby ac condensation is allowed to drip onto the filter which creates mildew smell.
The best fix is to spray the coil with some cleaner when you change the filter. I’ve done that and it helps. There’s recommendations here on the sub.
