2024 Model 3 Performance with 27,000 miles on it.... still just as fun as day 1.... though a little less so right NOW because of having snow tires on it rather than the factory summer tires. Haven't tested my theory... but pretty sure Insane acceleration mode would not like the snows if I were to floor it.
My 2022 MP3 didn't come with a staggering set.
The M3P has come with a staggered setup since the Higland M3P dropped in 2024.

What difference are you noticing? I was thinking of getting all season Michelin for mine when the time comes but I live in California where you can use summer tires all year long.
Yeah.... for you it's probably not a huge deal to leave the summer tires on. I live in eastern Pennsylvania. Summer tires wouldn't like the snow..... or the cold temperatures. Had I known that basically within my first year of owning it, I'd have already replaced all 4 tires, I might have gone with all-season tires instead of summer.... partly due to them being better with colder temperatures (summer tires aren't recommended when the temperature drops below \~45 degrees), and they seem MUCH more affordable than basically $1,700 for a full set. One rear tire got a screw through the shoulder right by the sidewall, and then I started to notice an odd vibration at times, which ended up being a weird flat spot in one of the front tires. Threw the snows on the front temporarily to see if that was what caused it, and IMMEDIATELY noticed that it was driving smoother.

Love that fat ass. She looks great. Just like my MYP. Believe me now, listen to my later. Go purchase a set of Mountain Pass rear adjustable camber arms. Easy install and will save those rear tires premature inner tire wear.
No. 2018-2023 M3P had the same tires/wheels all around.

Your joking right? I thought this was extremely common knowledge, back in 2024 when the new performance first came out I bought one knowing even then it was staggered as it was talked about for probably 6 months or more in 2023 that it would be like that

That's going to suck big time when it comes time to replacing those tires. For reference, Michelin Pilot Sport 4s will be around $443 each for the rear tire in 275/30/20 and $387 each for the front in 235/35/20. And you won't be able to rotate the tires That's actually the cheaper ones that doesn't have the accoustic barrier. If you actually want the OEM ones with the accoustix barrier that come with the car, the prices are $512 each for the rear and $399 each for the front.... The tires are 300 rated tire, so that will last you around 30k miles for a normal car. With an heavier EV... closer to 20kmiles. You've never floored it with the snow tires? I do it every day. It's fine. The traction control handles any difference in traction with virtually no slip.
There are certainly cheaper options if you aren't tracking the car. PS4s are spendy in all sizes. If you are tracking the car, there is no way you'd get 20k miles out of the tires. I destroyed my first set in only a few autox sessions. After destroying my second set I realized the stock 235s on the first gen are just not wide enough without adding some negative camber.

I‘m planing to use a squared setup on my 26‘ M3P (19x9.5 +34 on 255/35/19). Is that doable or do you recommend staying at a staggered setup because or the decreased front bar and increased rear bar?
That's not "for years" that's "recently". People don't upgrade cars as often as they do say phones.
Yeah ... But I'd rather not put that much stress on tires not necessarily designed around it.
The model 3 performance refresh has had staggered wheels setup since its inception in early 2024.

you sacrifice a lot doing that. 1) road noise. Part of the reason why the tires are expensive is the acoustic barrier specifically for tires. 2)I wasn't even talking about tracking a car. Even with the everyday use, heavy EV car on low profile tire is bad news for treadwear. You can go cheaper with Pirelli, but in my experience pirelli's don't last nearly as long so you aren't really going to sav money doing that. 3) There's a limit on how cheap you can go with these tires given they are low profile. You go too cheap, they will easily pop hitting pot holes or even uneven surfaces. Thats the thing about driving thin tires on the street., especially here in SoCal where the roads are terrible. That's the double edge sword about running low profile wheels/tires on a car that will primarily be driven on the street. I had a buddy that a BMW 330 with these ridiculous 21" tires. They looked cool, but man the tires, only Pirelli made them, and they were $450 each and he was replacing them every year. On a run of the mill 3 series that never saw track days. He was paying more for tires than I was for my McLaren. Lol. He ended up getting so frustrated that I told him to buy a set of 17 or 18 wheels on offerup/craiglist and stick a 17/18 wheel+tire on them provided they clear the brake calipers....And once he did that he was like "man, the road comfort is so much better and now my tries are lasting 4 years".... lol When it comes to street cars that one plans on keeping for decades, tire and wheel, I try to go the opposite direction by going smaller. I bought my GF an RX350 back in November, and we talked about it, she wanted to downgrade the wheels to 18" just because the running cost of tires on something she wants to keep 10-20+ years just to run errands. For autocross/track I just keep a separate set of tires+wheels for my miatas and mac.
Yep, smaller wheels is what I did as well. I recommend it to everyone: track, daily, or winter. All are better off with smaller wheels.

This is the exact reason I'm replacing my 2023 M3P wheels with 18" wheels. Ridiculously unnecessary tire prices. Plus 20"s are less efficient. After using FSD pretty much 100% of the time now, and the acceleration correlating to wasting money on tires, it just absolutely doesn't make any sense anymore. I'm glad I don't have to deal with the staggered setup too, I'd cry and sell for a Long Range AWD M3, or, even the RWD, like my original 2018 LR, which I miss because of the 18" wheels. I just couldn't resist the FSD transfer since they said they'd never do it again (lies!).

Yes, it’s not a car for poors. But compared to an ICE sports car, you’re still saving a ton of money on maintenance.
"poors" is relative. People who can afford exotics arent fucking around with a 4 door porker that weights over 4000+lbs pretending its a sports car on a budget. Just saying.... Dont get me wrong, i love EVs. And there is a place for them. But theres a difference between a model 3p and an exotic with an electric/hybrid drivetrain. And yes its expensive... for the "poors"...

I wonder if it's possible to buy another set of rear wheels and use them in the front.. That way all 4 wheels have the same width.
