It's highly unlikely and they'll keep refining it. What is unlikely is that it will ever get unsupervised capability.

There’s been some pretty heavy rumors circulating of a V14 Lite eventually coming to HW3 and if those rumors are true I’d say HW3 is gonna eventually get a bit of an upgrade. I still don’t think it’ll be unsupervised but it might get us a little closer to some HW4 capabilities.

I think what happens is HW3 continue to pay $99 for supervised FSD plus YoY increase. HW4 if it ever happens goes unsupervised FSD for a whole lot more money. No discount for anyone, everyone pays more.

I think it is a real concern, because it is an extra cost to maintain 2 version of the software. But they will have to find a solution or they have to pay money back to the people who purchased a HW3 car and paid to buy FSD. The solution may be - as Elon has hinted - that if you purchased FSD on HW3 they will offer to upgrade your hardware. However, they will push the decision for as long as possible, because for each year they wait, fewer HW3 cars are still on the road. It could easily take 3-5 years before they have FSD approved for general use. Even when they have it done from a performance standpoint, they still need to tackle the legal/regulatory jungle throughout the world.
