Mouse in the trunk!!

Routine-Travel7437 | 2026-01-27 23:22 | 21 views

I had left some groceries (oats, birdseed etc) in the trunk, hoping to carry them upstairs at a later date and to my surprise they had been gnawed/chewed on by a mouse!!! How on earth can a mouse get access to the trunk!! Has anyone else experienced this.....

I have not had one in my trunk but I think a rabbit may have climbed under my frunk. If a rabbit can crawl in mine, I'm sure mice can too. You may want to try some of the things I did to keep rodents away: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/1hi8bjh/rabbits\_or\_mice\_chewed\_through\_my\_wiring\_harness/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/1hi8bjh/rabbits_or_mice_chewed_through_my_wiring_harness/)

Air extractor. All cars have them and rodents can get familiar with gaining entry that way.

Your comment made me look into where they are located. I found this: [https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/2024/en-us/GUID-046B2C14-0941-4C70-9C0F-7AEA1B18BBC9.html](https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/2024/en-us/GUID-046B2C14-0941-4C70-9C0F-7AEA1B18BBC9.html)

Yup. Basically in the corner behind the rear fascia. Short trip from there to the trunk

It is important that you get it out. Rodents really like chewing wires, and that gets expensive to repair quickly

Mice get everywhere and are especially motivated in the winter. Obviously you don’t want to leave rat poison in your car, nor any traps that try to lure them in. If you park outside, get natural repellents, and replace them monthly. Your car will smell like cedar and pine, but better than finding mouse poop in your trunk or frunk. Or cabin fan.

We just spent $1000 getting a wiring harness replaced that mice had chewed through at our rear driver side tire area. I was very upset!
