2022 might be missing matrix headlights which is a downgrade. 2023 will be missing ultra sonic sensors as well.
Middle of 2022 they did introduce the ryzen chip though on some cars. 2023 got dual pane glass front and rear.
I don’t think this is an upgrade worth making at all

Go highland mate. While there are differences between 2021 and 2023, the are minor compared to a 2024 Highland.

2022 and 2023 both have double pane glass in the front only. I think all 2022 have matrix headlights but I could be wrong about that.
2024+ has front and rear

Are there issues with your 2021? IF not then I'd wait another couple years and pick up a used 2024.
The only real difference to note is moving from an AMD chip (2021-early 22) to a Ryzen chip (mid 2022+). All pre-highlands as I understand it only have HW3, and generally 2021+ generally have Matrix headlights though that is easily corrected if not.
Unless you have high mileage and wanting to move to a lower mileage car, or you ran across a screaming deal for the 'exact' color combo you've been dreaming of, I'd NOT make the upgrade.

Buy 2024 later this year. I love my AWD highland but most of my driving is done with FSD and I’m sure my driving experience would be very similar if I had a RWD. if budget is really a concern, single motor is a great option!

I have a 22 but regretting it a bit that I didn’t go 2024. I’m hoping PowerShare comes to the hw4 teslas since I have 2 powerwall3’s at my house. Be nice if it was here in time for summer…

Matrix headlights began in 2021 IIRC, as did some double pane glass. Mine is a 2021 and has both. BUT also has AMD and non-global taillights

2022 and 2023 are same = matrix headlights, double pane glass in front, new ryzen chip hardware, new battery, better axle and suspension, BUT with no USS
You will get for sure an upgrade, the only question is if is worth. Probably I would still wait a bit and get a 2024 highland.

If you get a ‘23 RWD you will get an LFP battery that will probably last decades, plus Ryzen, Matrix lights, Grok. This is the best decision if you can’t wait for a ‘24.

The differences between the 2021 and 2023 model 3 are so minor as to be insignificant. As other posters have noted, if you really desire an upgrade, go for the 2024, or better yet, 2025.

Jeah, I have had 6/2021 SR+ (Shanghai) and 2/2021 M3P. Both of those were double glass and Matrix headlights as well as wireless mobile chargers. I think it was very late Dec 20, when those were rolling out. My SR+ had a boombox, but my M3P didn't.
