Rattling sound coming from the center display (fixed)

I’m sharing this issue to help others. Our model 3 (EU 2024) was making an annoying rattling noise. First I assumed it was coming from the airco or ventilation. The noise pitches up or down depending on the fan speed, but also depending on driving conditions. It turned out the be the fan cooling the center display. After reporting it as an issue in the app and going to the local service center, they confirmed it and ordered the part. In the second appointment a few weeks later it was fixed within an hour.

Open up that cover below the screen. Perhaps there a loose wire rattling around.

The rattling comes from a failed fan... Seems like they used a bad batch in 2024.

So it’s covered under warranty then?

The in cabin air filter is sort of back there. Maybe something got sucked in there?

It was!

It was an easy fix by the service center. After reporting the issue and giving a clear description I got a service appointment. They then confirmed the diagnosis and asked me to schedule a second appointment a month later, to actually fix it.
