Ordered Used 2024 Model 3 from Tesla.com on Jan 4 – Silent for 4 Days…

Bxbybeartd | 2026-01-10 15:55 | 28 views

Ordered a pre-owned 2024 Model 3 directly from Tesla.com on Jan 4th. Financing got approved quickly, but the app’s been dead silent for 4 days—no VIN, no shipping update. Local Tesla said delivery is scheduled for Jan 12th. The car’s only ~200 miles away in TX… how does it take 8+ days to move it Trying not to spam the advisors, but I need app updates to finish the down payment/final steps. Super excited, but the wait is killing me! Used Tesla buyers from tesla.com: • How long from order → delivery for you • When did real app updates (VIN/shipping) start • Any Texas/short-haul experiences or tips

That’s normal.

CounterSea2110 2026-01-10 16:10

Probably they are coordinating transport, even though it is only 200 miles away they aren't going to drive it there they need to find a truck willing to haul it.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:11

Okay, what has been the experience for others, I’ve been reading my Google reviews for my local Tesla and they’re horrible so I am worried about that.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:11

What have others experienced ?

Commercial_F 2026-01-10 16:15

Don’t over think it, ppl were giving Tesla dealers 1 star cause you know Elon lol

Round-Bet-9552 2026-01-10 16:15

A couple weeks.

FixyFixy 2026-01-10 16:19

That's one of the many reasons I didn't go through them to buy a used Tesla.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:20

This is true

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:20

Couple weeks!! I gotta be able to get to work… been taking Ubers for the last 5 days

Weezthajuice 2026-01-10 16:32

I don’t quite remember the timeframes with my order but I do remember being super excited and the app steps just on pause for a few days. Before you know it the delivery date pops up and the rest of the steps are open and can be done instantly. Then you have to take delivery within 3 days. Congrats!

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:38

Thank you!! Appreciate the advice, just worried about my local teslas dealership bad reviews with delivery day.

ilikedogs4ever 2026-01-10 16:38

I ordered model y probably silent for at least 10 days before I suddenly got a delivery date

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:38

It was just a good deal and came with 3 mo of FSD and 3 mo of Supercharging.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:39

Appreciate that, it’s been 6 days now so I’ll just continue to be patient with it. Stressed about my local teslas dealership - they have bad reviews.

ilikedogs4ever 2026-01-10 16:43

How come no VIN? I also bought used, all the cars have VIN if I remember correctly

FixyFixy 2026-01-10 16:44

3 months of super charging is a good deal. It's a great road trip car. Make good use of it!

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:45

I have a VIN now, just no update on delivery for the past 4 days. I’m prob gonna call them again, I need this Tesla bad lmao

ilikedogs4ever 2026-01-10 16:46

Oh ok. Yeah I too got concerned, but the moment it arrived at the Tesla dealership in Dallas, I had a great experience

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:47

I’m in Dallas as well, going to the Cedar Springs location. Praying for the best.

NilocTheWarrior 2026-01-10 16:49

Might be worth finding a ride to go get it yourself!

TheGodOfWhovian2 2026-01-10 16:50

Used vehicles are slow to transport, finding carriers takes a while, could have an issue on it on lot. PM me privately

PaperTop9983 2026-01-10 16:56

They had me waiting for 3 months and then just cancelled the order.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:58

Replied to DM

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 16:59

That’s crazy, I called an they said Jan 12th. Just want to schedule pickup now lmao

PaperTop9983 2026-01-10 17:06

Nice! To me was pretty awful experience, they had promised that I was going to be only 4 weeks max ( October 4th) and this week they could explain what was the problem.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 17:07

What was the problem ?

andrewjphillips512 2026-01-10 17:12

Ordered a new M3P on Dec 15, it was available on the 19th (Austin TX). Unfortunately I was out of the country, so the order was put on hold and new car assigned. Released the hold on Jan 2 and picked up on Jan 9. This seemed really quick to me considering that the wait was listed on the order page was 3-5 weeks. Since you ordered a used car, probably coordinating the logistics of transfer.

Khelics 2026-01-10 17:18

Could be slow transport or they may have found an issue with it and are resolving it

PaperTop9983 2026-01-10 17:20

Was supposed to be the newest testa 2026, new battery pack and new extras, and seems like they calculate wrong the delivery

msb06c 2026-01-10 17:24

It took forever for them to transport mine 250 miles. I think it was closer to a month rather than the quoted 2 weeks. It would have been faster and cheaper if I flew to where it was (the city it was in had an airport) but I had broken my leg and ankle a few months prior, so I took the easy route.

hello_fellow_human_0 2026-01-10 17:31

Same ordered on 4th. Was told estimated to be 14th. Yes tge wait is killing

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 17:34

Yeah I’m so excited for the new vehicle and currently am carless so, we shall see.

Ok_Description_ 2026-01-10 17:40

Get in touch with them, I did and actually arranged the collection via the chat and then it popped up.

Weezthajuice 2026-01-10 17:42

It’s definitely different. They really streamline the process through the app. Great for some, not so great for others. I was on my way to the dealership, about an hour+ away, and 40 minutes in got a text saying they had to reschedule because a safety inspection wasn’t done. Blew me away. I text back and told them I took the day off and am in an uber halfway there because I had 3 days to accept delivery. Got a text back saying ok, we’ll have someone knock out the inspection today. I get there, and mind you I bought the car without ever having sat in one 😂, I check in and a guy walks me out, sets up my car key, hands me the key cards, says congrats, and walks away. I was like is that all? I don’t even know how to run this thing! 😂 so I just said I’m gonna hang out here with Google and figure it all out. So it definitely is more of a hands off approach on their end. Service can be the same way. In the end, they are helpful if you bug them, sometimes you don’t have to. But it all gets done and the cars are well worth it

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 17:59

Thanks for the response, nice Reddit Tesla employee looked it up for me

RelativeIndustry8787 2026-01-10 18:06

I’m curious if the car is only 200 miles away could you not just go pick it up from that location? I’m not sure how it works because I’ve never bought a Tesla.

Bxbybeartd 2026-01-10 18:41

I definitely could have, just had to work during the week so didn’t have time after I ordered it on Sunday

Mexkan 2026-01-10 18:57

Tesla told me I couldn’t go to Cali and get it. It has to be shipped

Ekim-Grublit 2026-01-10 20:26

Took 3 weeks. But i brought the car back within 5 days for a full refund. Please thoroughly check your car on pick-up, and bring a flashlight to check the paint! Hope you are luckier then my experience!

8portswitch 2026-01-10 22:10

Good advice. My personal rule is never take delivery of a car after dark.

Ekim-Grublit 2026-01-10 22:12

Yes for sure. I did in daytime but the lights in the delivery factory are designed so blemishes are less visible. I brought a bright white led

JuJuBee- 2026-01-11 02:42

I got ours delivered at night, and had them pull ours into the service garage with all the bright lights so I could properly check it

JuJuBee- 2026-01-11 02:48

They never notified me through the app of the remaining tasks until I finished the final payment through the app. But I had already scheduled delivery the day I bought it (local.) I think I was stuck on step 5 or 6? of the 9 steps and was stuck on the final payment screen. I couldn’t even get updates on our delivery appt until that part was finished. I could not make any split payments via the app either. We paid cash and had to move all our funds into one bank account in order to complete the payment via the app. After we did that it then got stuck on step 7 or 8? 🤣 Luckily we bought locally and the car was at a dealer within 1/2 hour of our house so I was able to take care of things directly with them. The app was a bit confusing for some things and was t really reliable for anything but making the payment.

TransportationOld902 2026-01-11 03:11

I ordered a preowned 2023 on December 23 and was able to pick it up on January 8. I get your frustration but I don’t think there’s much you can do. Anyway all the best and congrats

Coolsudz 2026-01-17 06:04

Hey! Any luck on hearing back from them about a date? I’m in the same situation, ordered on the 1st and was told 1-2 weeks for delivery. App still says they will let me know when it’s ready. Mine is being shipped roughly ~200 miles from VA.

Grand-Latter 2026-02-11 01:36

I ordered mine Feb 3rd, I’m in Rockville, car is in Rockville,’app has been silent ever since 🤦‍♂️

Grand-Latter 2026-02-11 01:38

Same, I ordered mine Feb 3rd and the car 1 mile from me. Still says it’s waiting to pass state inspections and then it’s good to go
