Probably around $100-150 USD. It can be welded but a proper repair won’t look good. They weld new material, multiple passes for extra strength. Grinding it down for cosmetics won’t be as strong as you can imagine. Generally not worth it, but it can be done although some shops will turn you away due to liability.
I've had this type of crack repair done to an Audi A8 Turbine wheel before. They set it round, tig weld it back together, set it round again, grind it smooth, and potentially repaint. (Turbines are clearcoated machine wheels, so only clear in my case.) This procedure is so dang expensive though that it's probably cheaper to replace the wheel. It was $200ish 10 years ago and I wouldn't do it again.
kerb?
Thanks, with that price tag, I’ll pass
Got it, thanks for sharing. Yeah, with that price tag, I’ll pass
I don’t think so, because it was on the inside rim. Probably the potholes, the roads are shitty here
If that is factory wheel it can be repaired, more like $250 but it will just crack again. The factory Tesla wheels are pretty weak. I cracked 2 on my 2022 M3P. Had first one repaired and it cracked again within a month. Buy some after market wheels. I got some from Atomic Wheels, best mod I’ve ever done on the car. Should have done it when I first got it. Wheels are lighter and stronger. Got 4 wheels and titanium lug nuts for $1400. Then sold my Uber turbine wheels for $300.
Thanks for sharing... glad I did the post and asked first, was thinking might worth the shot. Now, it will most likely be a night stand holder...
How'd you get those for 1400? Everything I see on their page is $2000+
yeah, me too
I got the AW21 which are flow forged wheels. Not as expensive as forged wheels but better and stronger than cast wheels. The in stock wheels were $280 each for 20” wheels, I pre-ordered a Color that wasn’t in stock and the price was $240 each. I just looked, they raised their prices but the company and customer service is awesome. They answered all my questions. https://preview.redd.it/37xdu29fqdcg1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca6054739b21e214b9e6300445e718efa05e5147
I had mine welded very economically in Brooklyn. Never leaked again. So far
Thanks for sharing, fingers crossed. I searched on FB marketplace and found that Brooklyn had the most rim inventories for some reason
I have a Dallas area shop that repairs for $100 if possible. I’ve cracked three rims so far. (ps I live in a small town with lunar training roads.)
