Permanent fix for satin door trim

GerardoSacco4 | 2026-01-08 12:24 | 30 views

Hey everyone, i just bought an used model 3 and while the car is perfect, the satin black door trim looks exactly like the one in the picture (which isnt mine). I found some "permanent" solutions online, but i only found US products which arent shipped in the EU. Does anyone have an advice for products to clean it with products available in Europe. Thanks!

WD-40 on a rag, and stop taking your car through the automated car washes.

I would NEVER take my car at an auto car wash, unfortunately i bought it like this. I always clean my car by hand

These worked for me. Once you get it off the trim, immediately have it ceramic coated to prevent it from coming back. Alternatively, you can just vinyl wrap or PPF. https://amzn.to/4qJjl8v

WD40 is a temporary fix. It only masks it and once it’s all rinsed off, the marks will still be there.

Bummer!

You can polish the stains off, but it will gloss up the trim. Best bet now would probably be to be to just vinyl them

Is it easy to diy or do i have to go to a professional

Saw a post dated awhile back, they took their car to Tesla service and they replaced it via warranty. Maybe you might get lucky.

Unfortunately its out of warranty, its from February '21

It's not a warranty item, it's just wax build up.

Don’t over clean as you can actually wear it down to a silver color behind (then I had to buy vinyl matte strips to wrap and fix) but wd40 on a clean microfiber rarely as you see that should bring it to a decent black again.

This is going to sound silly but sunscreen the spray on type that's waterproof or sports version. Don't spray it on the car, spray it on a microfiber and wipe down the trim with it. You will have to reapply probably within a week but every time you reaplly it lasts even longer eventually lasting for months.

I put ppf on mine from tesbos. it is matte so hide things like this. tesla should change the material
