Hansshow Airbag Cover Replacement

Only-Wonder-2610 | 2026-01-06 21:08 | 19 views

I saw this browsing their website. I really want to swap but I was just wondering if anyone here would know if this would void srs warranty on my 2019 m3.

Great way to nullify your insurance if something were to happen. If airbag does not deploy because of this, you’re most likely on your own.

Looks good how easy is this to replace?

Only-Wonder-2610 2026-01-06 21:35

No idea. Can’t be that hard?

roxycone 2026-01-06 21:35

*if OP survives said airbag failure I would completely stay away from the cars safety equipment if it is used as a daily.

Only-Wonder-2610 2026-01-06 21:36

Makes sense. Why wouldn’t the airbag deploy it’s literally an airbag cover doesn’t it just snap into place?

So you would prefer running the potential higher risk of injury, disfigurement, and or death in the event of an accident and then having less coverage since you altered one of the primary safety systems of the car to be able to replace a silver T with Tesla?

Only-Wonder-2610 2026-01-06 21:42

Yes I’ve removed the other silver t’s I want this last one gone as well. I would prefer blank but they don’t sell that one here. Thanks for answering my question about voiding srs warranty over replacing an airbag cover.

https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty “Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty The Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty covers your vehicle for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.” If i’m not mistaken, your 2019 doesn’t have warranty with it being over 5 years old. Unless your warranty terms were different upon purchase.

Thanks for the answer. This would apply up to folks through 2022 as well, so that still doesn’t answer the question if replacing the cover voids warranty.

I doubt these things go through the testing the OEM parts go through to get certified… Any part can fail, clips, cover itself etc. If you survive, you’ll have to deal with all the financial burden. I would def. stay away from mods around safety related parts.

I’ve replaced many air bags and locked sealtbelts. I have a machine that diagnoses where and what airbag light is on to pass CHP exams. Replacing airbags is easy if that’s ur concern

There’s two small holes on either side of the wheel below the stalks, you stick a small screw driver in each side and pull the driver-bit towards you to pop the face plate off. Takes about 6 seconds if you know where the release levers sit (you’ll see once the levers are off and the airbag is removed)

the exact reason i decided against the yoke in my M3. ik it’s not for everyone, but i like it. just can’t take the risk of getting A. killed because of it and B. no insurance payout if i get boned because of “steering/control modification”. not worth the risk at all, car’s already beautiful

That's to remove the airbag. The product link is an "Airbag-replacement-cover." Geez... I would not want to try to remove the existing cover, and put back a new cover. I gotta imagine it's like folding a parachute. If the airbag cover is scratched up or something, you would be better off replacing the whole assembly, with something like this: [https://www.ebay.com/itm/336149522261?fits=Model%3A3%7CMake%3ATesla&\_skw=tesla+model+3+airbag&itmmeta=01KEBEXEZ5W3BBTKAAXWBBETMT&hash=item4e4412a755:g:AUkAAOSwY2pn7YfS&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fbjDORavu9h48vsaTVcZMuJW6m3da4teMG3bRl%2FIm8vUlXsKHquKfBJ58GW1j3u3NftEeya%2FQdONH9b39Rowha6RvfSxPzkDR1AUatEOlzqav8b1JnTqsMuLKJmZ%2Fe3vmaIIx79XJY0M8obWPpliDl6PmEObeuN2APbshrG%2Ba6JilmbsnuTjEGnSFPSmF5fRFtbVHdz50XBaFqgJOUCKqFHMHMf51pjZiiyjsLXG9%2BiWN4QttIObN808Jd8KhGlHb6jAlhnuLZTctW94MabhoW5YECHY8ERhoLcdNrBplgLA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMsvD17vJm](https://www.ebay.com/itm/336149522261?fits=Model%3A3%7CMake%3ATesla&_skw=tesla+model+3+airbag&itmmeta=01KEBEXEZ5W3BBTKAAXWBBETMT&hash=item4e4412a755:g:AUkAAOSwY2pn7YfS&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fbjDORavu9h48vsaTVcZMuJW6m3da4teMG3bRl%2FIm8vUlXsKHquKfBJ58GW1j3u3NftEeya%2FQdONH9b39Rowha6RvfSxPzkDR1AUatEOlzqav8b1JnTqsMuLKJmZ%2Fe3vmaIIx79XJY0M8obWPpliDl6PmEObeuN2APbshrG%2Ba6JilmbsnuTjEGnSFPSmF5fRFtbVHdz50XBaFqgJOUCKqFHMHMf51pjZiiyjsLXG9%2BiWN4QttIObN808Jd8KhGlHb6jAlhnuLZTctW94MabhoW5YECHY8ERhoLcdNrBplgLA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMsvD17vJm)

Present-Ad-9598 2026-01-07 06:27

The cover comes off with it

short_bus_genius 2026-01-07 13:22

Sure. And then how do you replace the cover on the airbag assembly?

AnnOnnamis 2026-01-07 14:25

Replacing the cover is somewhat involved, but doable. https://youtu.be/pnNx8qNft9c?si=MkYIT-Zlwbhx_Ucb
