That's Ryzen only feature AFAIK. Is your car older Intel Atom?
VitelTonnato
2026-01-05 10:48
Ahhh yes Intel Atom, March 2021, that could be the reason..
ParaIIax_
2026-01-05 10:49
ryzen only atm

You can normally just swipe it to the right and make it full screen.

Sadly our intel atoms are mostly EoL, the only updates we get are now « minor bug fixes » only

This is the reason 100%

That's too bad I've just purchased a 2nd hand M3 :(

Thanks

It’s still good for most things, but personally anything I’ll do in the web browser (Waze-like called incarweb or Tesla theater) just crashes back to the gps view after a few seconds / minutes, there is no 3d view of the car (not really an issue), cameras are much lower res than ryzen (plenty usable). But at least I have USS plus Tesla vision

I see thanks for your reply, those are certainly downsides for older M3s :/

Sucks I didn’t get the 2022. Mine was made early November and then they switched late November 🥲🥲

This is completely false though. Intel got nearly all the features AMD cars got during the holiday update.

2026-01-05 15:40
lol what an holiday update, it was complete crap this year
-SUBW00FER-
2026-01-05 15:55
The features Intel got:
- Dog Mode Live Activity on iOS
- Dashcam Viewer UI with vehicle telemetry (the biggest features imo)
- Navigation Improvements with pin selection on map
- Automatic HOV Lanes Routing based on passenger count in car and posted times.
- Paint shop to customize your wrap
- Phone left behind feature
- Can turn off wireless chargers
- Save Charge Limit by Location
- Car Wash Mode Redesign and other random QOL edits in the UI
The only major feature it didn't get are:
- Navigation commands with grok
Intel got nearly every update as AMD got, how exactly is it EoL and minor bug fixes? You are just moving goal posts now claiming it was a crap update.

It's a dumb feature I absolutely hated in my 2025 rental lol

Damn and you got Atom? 💀

Don't sweat it, it's not life changing. The AMD is nice and all but it's not that big of a thing.

I wish I got the 22 instead of the 21 as well. Bought in Feb. 2024, 24k miles, 34k + tax otd. Insane buyers regret now, really wish I just waited but now I know for next time!

How did Intel get phone left behind when they don't have the hardware for it?
-SUBW00FER-
2026-01-05 21:04
It uses the wireless charger for the phone left behind feature. That's were most people place their phones anyway so it works out. It still works when the wireless charger is shut off.

What? Intel got most of the features from the holiday update. I’d definitely not call it “minor bug fixes”.

Yeah they pushed a few updates. Now my dashcam viewer crashes every time I try to use it 💀

I don't like how we can't upgrade it.....smh as a man who built my own PC, it irks me that I can't just open it up and upgrade it........ Seems like the apple of cars, I bet if I asked they'd tell me to trade in and buy new 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Hey man you probs got a great deal! And way more worth of value than losing thousands on depreciation. I'm in the same boat as you.

Just the first 4 years of Intel that won't have it then.
At least they had a solution for the later cars, which is nice.

It’s definitely something… I just came from an atom

I have two theories, 1.) is it’s simply just too difficult to do either because of what would need to be taken apart to replace the chip, or that the Ryzen chip would be incompatible with older motherboards and ram and things. Or 2.) Tesla just wants people to buy new cars

From what I understand it would mean completely upgrading the battery from 12 to 15 so it’s not just a simple upgrade to the cpu.

I have a 2022 model three long range and mine was made in the batch right before they switched to Amd. So sad
ZealousidealDraw4075
2026-01-07 11:22
Im not sure why it would be different for intel and Amd
But i do not mind the car only being on the left

What year did they upgrade the chip?
Gullible_Bend_9596
2026-01-07 13:47
Man, I am in the same boat, I didnt know about the cpu being changed in late 21/early 22 and I got a 21 Model Y Long Range late last year that was made in October 21 which means it almost had ryzen cpu.

Some still have telsa warranty from new, kind of annoying
