Now I want FSD

Bananamilk40 | 2026-01-03 06:02 | 88 views

Using the standard autopilot and even with the little time I have before having to put my hands on the steering wheel is the best shit ever. I can see why people love FSD and now I want to get it 😭

FSD is great. Please don’t be on your phone while driving.

WrongdoerIll5187 2026-01-03 06:13

But how would I respond to texts?! I kid, but I am loving not getting bashed for changing the nav in 14.2.2.2

JakeLemons 2026-01-03 06:18

One of the biggest things I miss from my 3 month trial period is the view around my car on the screen seems a lot different. Going through drive throughs were super easy now it doesn’t show much for curbs. I don’t “need” it but it was nice to have.

Bananamilk40 2026-01-03 06:23

When I first got my m3 I did not car for FSD at all because I love driving but after using autopilot my perception on FSD changed completely it’s so convenient

JakeLemons 2026-01-03 06:27

It for sure is nice but I live in pot hole city and fsd does not care to help avoid those lol.. regular autopilot seems to do more than I expected so I’m happy with not paying for fsd

Bananamilk40 2026-01-03 06:29

Oh damn that’s actually kind of a bummer that it doesn’t watch out for potholes. Either way $8,000 or $100 a month is just not justified for the car driving it self I’m already broke as hell 😭

firewaller 2026-01-03 06:39

It’s overpriced imo and it makes mistakes often enough for me that I wouldn’t trust it personally. Autopilot is great though, enjoy the car!

I have FSD and almost always use it. Especially in long road trips

JakeLemons 2026-01-03 07:37

Have you paid for tags/plate yet? I wasn’t expecting the 2x price lol.. I laughed when the lady at the bmv told me the total.. I really want to love the car but I’m slowly hating it honestly.. I have an mp3, 22. Everyone on a post I made said to get the mp3 as I come from other sports cars, and I’m kinda over the acceleration gimmick. Kinda just wish I didn’t have to charge every 4 days (I’m being lazy and havnt gotten a charger in my house yet, that’s my fault)

Direct_Major_1393 2026-01-03 09:48

How is it overpriced though? Its like hiring professional driver at $8000 for lifetime who does not complain

l11arcangel 2026-01-03 10:05

Tesla employees get it free when leasing via a paycheck reimbursement… if that matters at all lol

HullRipper 2026-01-03 10:30

Looks like FSD was enabled when he took the picture. He wasn't driving. You mean don't be on your phones while you're supervising.

lohmatij 2026-01-03 11:47

I heard they want to allow texting with FSD soon.

-eccentric- 2026-01-03 12:50

Saying that is an unpopular opinion here, these dudes love to be dangerous.

xxx420blaze420xxx 2026-01-03 12:53

I want to trust it- but I just can’t. Too many times on the road where I’ve had to intervene and I just feel safer driving myself. Undoubtedly cool tech though

SomegalInCa 2026-01-03 14:21

You could always text with a Tesla using voice control, but I found it was not always very accurate

SkaterDad 2026-01-03 15:14

I've charged at home with a 120v portable charger for about 4 years. You get back about 3 miles of range per hour. Only use a supercharger on road trips. Depending on your typical amount of daily driving, you can wake up with 80% nearly every morning. Maybe find a cheap used one on Facebook Marketplace.

Ok_Priority458 2026-01-03 16:05

Been using autopilot for the last 6 years..its great on the highway except for the Phantom breaking when cars drive up on the merging lane on the right(without even starting to merge)... but dont stop paying attention because the system will give you a false sense of security... Even with fsd... https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaFSD/s/iveKk4QVH4

WayneFliesPlanes 2026-01-03 16:14

I just cancelled my FSD subscription. After a recent update (forget the version # but it was the one that added the Mad Max profile) it got really indecisive with lane changes. It would start to change lanes and then halfway thru it would bail out of it, take another few seconds to decide, then bail out of it again. I even had it change lanes without using the turn signal one time. When it works, it’s amazing but when it doesn’t it’s frustrating

billyoceans 2026-01-03 16:43

You owe it to yourself to try it at least once. Your car can do something most others cant, drive itself. Oh and you'll notice that FSD handles braking and accelerating way better than Autopilot in the same situations. Its the first thing that I notice when I cancelled my FSD subscription

Pliskin01 2026-01-03 16:51

I (kinda) like FSD, but a professional driver has insurance to cover me when they make a mistake and I break my arm in a crash. Until Tesla takes on the liability of driving (and I can take my eyes off the road), it’s not a professional driver. It’s a student driver at best that I’m paying to train. Does FSD stay with the owner now?

mrroofuis 2026-01-03 18:37

It doesn't see debris in the road , either. Apparently. Just learned this lesson yesterday

kghyr8 2026-01-03 18:58

It’s true you still have to be careful, but FSD performs much differently than autopilot. Especially for things like merging traffic, phantom breaking, cars crossing lanes, etc

OBryanWoodWorks 2026-01-03 21:35

I wouldn’t own a Tesla or any electric vehicle without FSD

Nagadavida 2026-01-03 22:11

I want a robot car so very bad. Trying to get time to do a test drive. Closest location is an hour away.

Topgun127 2026-01-03 23:15

That’s why they give the free month. I don’t even have a Tesla yet…but I’ve experienced FSD and I want it.

EastEgg74 2026-01-04 01:59

FSD is pretty amazing and I might do a subscription after this free trial is up. Wish they would make smart summon equally as awesome

watergoesdownhill 2026-01-04 03:28

That’s fixed now.

WayneFliesPlanes 2026-01-04 03:53

Since when?

King_Drew96 2026-01-04 04:13

Bought my 19 M3 back in November, and FSD was unusable the whole first month. Every time I would engage FSD, it would instantly start veering to the left, and wouldn’t stop until I took every. Gave up trying to use after a few weeks and only used Auto-Steer. Randomly cut FSD on a couple days ago, and it now works flawlessly. Auto Steer was cool, but got tired of the nag every few minutes.

watergoesdownhill 2026-01-04 04:19

14.2.2.2

WayneFliesPlanes 2026-01-04 04:21

I don’t know off the top of my head when that was released but if it wasn’t within the last week then it still happens

Loud-Scale9153 2026-01-04 06:11

Should be 50$ a month

Ataiatek 2026-01-04 16:06

Phantom breaking is the main reason why I have full self-driving. Even in the standard traffic aware cruise control it phantom breaks. And it's honestly the most annoying thing ever. I wish there was a way to have like a blend between full self-driving and you just steer the car.

watergoesdownhill 2026-01-04 18:46

It was last week

lohmatij 2026-01-04 18:46

And it doesn’t understand other languages, so when it reads my messages all I hear is messy gibberish * also can’t call half of my contacts because of that, it just doesn’t recognize them.

steve93446 2026-01-04 21:56

I’ve got a 450 mi RT drive in the rain tomorrow. Looking forward to FSD in my ‘26 MY so I can relax for about 7 hrs, listen to some podcasts.

kghyr8 2026-01-04 22:32

I like it when a car crosses your lane 250 feet ahead and autopilot slams on the brakes like you’re inches away.

Ataiatek 2026-01-04 22:33

Ive had it happen when someone as merging on the highway and we weren't even close to each other.. or there was a dedicated lane for them to enter. And it is it slams it thinking we are going to crash

rktecct 2026-01-05 01:52

Mine sees debris and limbs and avoids them and drives around them all. It works well on my car.

G70FanBoy 2026-01-05 04:40

Lol. FSD is horrendous in the city and is OK on the interstate. My biggest complaint is that it misses turns and exits all the time because it's constantly changing lanes so it can be going as fast as possible. It'll get over in the furthest left lane when it needs to be going right in less than a mile and then what do you know, you've missed your turn because there is heavy traffic and it waited to change lanes with half a mile to your turn.. I am not a fan of it whatsoever. It almost got me into several wrecks because it'll randomly slam it's brakes on thinking someone in front you was gonna stop or something. I quit using it after it tried to drive me off the road and turn right when there was no right turn to be had... It put it's blinker on and started turning the steering wheel right to try and jump the curb... I was like what in the crap... After I was done with it. I didn't feel safe. It's a blessing I wasn't ever rear ended from the car stopping either in the middle of the road for no reason. I also got sick and tired of always missing my exits on the highway. It's a neat concept and I applaud other people for being Guinea pigs and using it all the time.

PrestigiousShift134 2026-01-05 04:40

Do it bro

G70FanBoy 2026-01-05 04:43

Get a Genesis. They have the best side view cameras in the auto industry. Cameras that show exactly where your front and rear tires are. Idk why that feature is not on every car. I call them the anti curb rash cameras 😂😂. I can't stand driving a tesla because the parking cameras are non existent.

ItzDarc 2026-01-05 09:18

Non issue on 14.2.2.2. I like it better than 13.x again now.

Schnitzhole 2026-01-05 14:15

Newer FSD versions are getting much better at dodging potholes since v14.1. They still manage to hit one every now and then (just like humans) but it is nice to see it working better. I will say it will dodge the same pothole and then one out of 15-20 times just randomly hit it again when lighting conditions are poor

jennercr7 2026-01-05 19:59

If you get a used autopilot comes included for basically free lol, then again it’s a used one. I got mine with 30k miles barely like new and free autopilot, I just pay for the 10 dollars a month for satellite:)

Bananamilk40 2026-01-05 20:00

Same here got my 2019 m3 with 42k miles and it came with autopilot

raddigging 2026-01-05 20:09

Have you tried FSD yet?

Bananamilk40 2026-01-05 20:09

Not yet I really want to though

raddigging 2026-01-05 20:15

Did you not get the free trial?

Bananamilk40 2026-01-05 20:16

No, I bought my m3 used it’s from 2019 unless there’s a way for me to get a trial as a new owner of a Tesla

raddigging 2026-01-05 20:19

Ah yeah I don’t think they’re doing free trials on HW3

Waste_Mountain_1829 2026-01-06 06:53

My son just got a 2018 model 3 and he has a 3 month fsd trial, BUT he got it from Tesla...

Right_Worry7030 2026-01-06 17:45

Just got the 14.2.2.2 in my 26 model Y update, and my work address and home address has been deleted, did this happen to anyone else.?

always_searching2023 2026-01-06 22:13

I personally don't mind it for freeways but not necessarily for in the city. But for me so far, autopilot/auto steer where I still have to break at stop signs or red lights if I choose to use it in the city when the traffic is stop and go is not the end of the world for me for autosteer

rcuadro 2026-01-06 23:34

Subscribe vs buy. You will save money

Bananamilk40 2026-01-06 23:35

What I’m thinking of doing soon

BraveEyeball 2026-01-07 00:44

Go do a test drive. My local will give me a car for 2 or 3 hours, I used a performance Y for 4 hours one time and took it up in the mountains. All the demo cars have fsd but they won’t let you try track mode

GlitteringResort9111 2026-01-07 02:25

I thought I saw it did. Worth rechecking.

InternationalAd8643 2026-01-07 15:04

Pay the $100 for the month to try it. I love it especially on the highways

Ouija81 2026-01-07 15:59

It sucks bad in most towns where I live and has definitely almost killed me like four or five times in under a month of owning my M3

IllSwan2081 2026-01-07 18:15

I couldn’t imagine owning one and not having it. It’s the whole reason I’m attracted to Tesla. .

IllSwan2081 2026-01-07 18:18

Don’t! Unless u got 8k or 100 a month 😂

IllSwan2081 2026-01-07 18:18

Just do it! The test drive that is

Bananamilk40 2026-01-07 18:19

I didn’t really care for FSD when I first got my Tesla, the main thing that attracted me was the fast acceleration, minimal interior design & over all look of the car, the main thing was getting the car I wanted when my 2013 Altima gave out on me lol but after using autopilot now I can see why so many owners swear by it.

InterstellarAtom 2026-01-07 20:10

I have two 2022 Model 3's (Long Range and Performance), and I do not use AutoPilot. Every roadtrip my wife and I have ever taken, the car abruptly slowed down without warning while using AutoPilot on the highway. Nothing ahead of us (other than tree shadows) and thankfully no one behind us. Reported the issues once back from the trip, with to-the-minute specifics of when the slowdown occurred, and was told each time that we would need to report at the time of the incident. Seriously?! Tesla is telling me the only way to troubleshoot is at the exact moment the issue occurs?? What in the world?? Love both cars...But I miss having a cruise control option that actually works and doesn't stress me out.

ASlimyAvocado 2026-01-07 21:08

still happening on my highland on 14.2.2.2.

VastConcern54 2026-01-07 22:27

Every 4 days you must to be barely driving I charge my TMY performance every day

Medical-Frame2180 2026-01-08 05:13

It is so nice. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.

Defiant-Opposite-501 2026-01-13 01:22

\>Does FSD stay with the owner now? I subscribe, but if they did this I would buy.
