TSportline TPMS not working

haiderellixx | 2026-01-02 21:42 | 36 views

I purchased a set of TSportline wheels that are pre mounted. They look great but I’m having an issue with TPMS not connecting. I have driven over 100 miles, did the TPMS reset and took it to a shop but they said that they are not active. I thought they should automatically connect to my vehicle but now it seems that I need to replace them with OEM ones. Let me know if someone had a similar issue

Aftermarket wheels break the tpms. You won’t have it for as long as you have these wheels on.

What sensor did you install on the wheel before mounting the tire?

Did your wheels have at least the sensors?

Could just be a faulty sensor or they forgot to install. Mine worked straight after being delivered. Automatically connected. Didn't have to do anything.

There’s two different kinds of TPMS tech. Sounds like the tires have the wrong tech for your vehicle. Older Teslas use Continental 433Mhz TPMS, newer Teslas use OEM BT/BLE TPMS. The changeover happened from late 2021 to mid 2023. Y’s first then 3s after. Service mode will tell you which receiver you have installed/enabled. While the software stack seems capable of both, there is no back-compatibility hardware installed (at least in my vehicle). From experience, both types usually quickly start/detect automatically without needing extra reprogramming/reset equipment. My 2018 winter TSportline have Continental TPMS in them (used to have an ‘18 M3P). When I got my ‘24 M3P never got round to changing the tire sensors, irrItating warning nag but not a deal breaker. I’ll likely switch them to OEM BT TPMS this summer as they approach end of battery life.

This is it. Hopefully OP bought the right ones since they aren't interchangable.

stephbu 2026-01-02 23:33

> aren’t interchangeable careful wording here. “changeable only by skilled tire technician with the right equipment and parts”

Sfkn123 2026-01-02 23:34

Ah yes. I meant that the newer cars cannot use the older 433mhz sensors.

stephbu 2026-01-02 23:36

Exactly that…. Good news is the OEM BLE TPMS are purchaseable on the Tesla Store, and reasonable knockoffs are available on Amazon and other tire vendors.

Yes they came with the TPMS sensors

Thank you for this info. So those wheels probably have the older Continental ones. In service mode, I see that I can switch to continental. Is that something that will make it connect or I need to replace the sensors to the newer ones ?

stephbu 2026-01-03 04:58

The software supports both and it looks like at some point you could switch, but the new models only have BT/BLE TPMS readers and don’t have the hardware for reading Continental TPMS. You’ll need new sensors

Okay. I will purchase new ones. Thank you for the help

I was surprised when the Tesla service center offered to switch my 2024 m3lr to use 433mhz for a winter set of tires I had... Apparently, it's a firmware option that service centers can change. Though,I opted to just swap tpms to bluetooth.
