Italy, Tesla Autopilot (not FSD) correctly slows down when speed limit changes from 90 to 60 but inexplicably decides to restart accelerating when approaching the traffic light. (I

Yeah, these things are ready for use on roads with innocent bystanders. I don't like that I'm an involuntary participant in beta testing for this shit.

Was the manual max speed set to 90? Not excusing it, just checking. Cause speed behaviour seems to be the weirdest thing for me.

There's nothing Beta about Autopilot, you are ALWAYS to be ready and actively focused to take over at any given time, this isn't FSD.

NotAnAIOrAmI 2026-01-02 00:00

It's the same to me. I don't trust it either in my Model 3, or the equivalent highway assist in my Ioniq 5.

JustSayTech 2026-01-02 00:12

>It's the same to me. Well it's not about you persay, it's not the same point blank period, so you can't speak on it as the same. They are fully different with a widely different set of features.

lotrl0tr 2026-01-02 00:27

Autopilot doesn't stop at traffic lights or slows down, it is NOT FSD, if this is what you intended.

NotAnAIOrAmI 2026-01-02 01:00

They're the same to me as in they're both untrustable technology.

TozZu89 2026-01-02 05:08

Does the same for me but only on specific intersections on my commute. Always the same ones. Slows down at the 60 sign and then just before intersection slams to get to 110, which wasn't preset even before the sign. At least it's consistent with it so I'm rarely surprised anymore.

I have had both a model 3 highland and the Ioniq 5 and can confidently say the Ioniq 5 is miles better at pretty much every scenario on the motorway/highway.

aleks8134 2026-01-02 08:36

Mine never slows down or increases speed based on the signs (Switzerland). I have full “FSD”.

Comfortable_Client80 2026-01-02 09:40

Wait, it starts to slow down BEFORE the speed limit sign? Mine never does it, only slows after the sign.

You didn’t get his question

RawPeanut99 2026-01-02 16:39

Thats just Traffic Aware Cruise Control, it does weird stuff sometimes.

Instinct043 2026-01-02 23:05

If you have fsd optioned. Your autopilot will actually stop at traffic lights and stops signs.

I firmly believe teslas FSD and AP programming is 90% using google map data as the backbone while “Tesla Vision” accounts for the remaining 10% (lane lines, traffic lights, stop signs etc. etc.). I’ve notice parts of my city while using FSD that the car does things based off of old road data (due to newer construction that had the raid repainted). EG: I make a left on a street that is double lane for 1/8th of a mile and that right lane turns into a right turn only. Area had new construction last year and that right lane turn used to be the main road going straight but was turned into a right turn only. If I make FSD got the left which the newer road was made and co tongues straight FSD will fight tooth and nails to go back into the right lane. However once you get to the end of that right lane and shave no choice but to turn right FSD will freak and THEN signal to get into the left lane. Every time. I have seen this on other areas of the city as well. Just my guess though I could be wrong a or FSD is just dumb sometimes.

lotrl0tr 2026-01-03 10:06

In ita there is NO FSD.

MyrKnof 2026-01-03 10:37

It's been one and a half years since they changed the speed limit in a large part of my city. It's not corrected yet, and it just ignores city limits signs.

Instinct043 2026-01-03 11:11

You can buy the fsd package still

lotrl0tr 2026-01-03 13:31

I have it, aaand no, it's not stopping/auto starting at semaphores

Instinct043 2026-01-03 13:35

Strange, mine in Norway does and it says so on the tesla website too

EightyJay 2026-01-04 11:51

Autopilot has gotten worse/ certainly not improved for years as a strategy to force out FSD subscriptions. Period. It’s a money grab - not a user-friendly or safety measure. The Tesla mods will remove this comment because it’s too critical; but any long term user already knows this

yosoycooper 2026-01-10 15:32

Just trying to make sure it makes the light. Auto didn’t want to wait at a red light.

JimJamGo 2026-02-07 14:56

Your autopilot slows down for you? Mine just ignores speed limits? How can I get it to adapt to the speed limit?
