Phone Mount

gustavoboi | 2025-12-31 21:37 | 66 views

Was never really a fan of Tesla phone mounts bc of the bulky ones I’d see online. But I came across this one and I caved. Really like the simplicity and durability of it. Highly recommend if you want that hidden/sleek phone mount. 👍

I have a similar one, plugged in to USB-C so it can charge the phone as well. I only use it every so often, but glad it's there when needed, and hidden when not.

PM_VAGINA_FOR_RATING 2025-12-31 21:45

I don’t like people who mount their phones in front of their face while driving.

_______o-o_______ 2025-12-31 21:50

So you'd prefer they look further down and take their eyes off the road?

sketchyturtle91 2025-12-31 21:51

No, I prefer you pull off the road

FuzzyFr0g 2025-12-31 21:51

I’d prefer people not using their phine while driving

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 21:52

I completely agree

_______o-o_______ 2025-12-31 21:52

To use the nav app on your phone? Are you crazy?

Wowzao 2025-12-31 21:53

Genuine question, what do you need your phone for while driving that isn’t on the screen?

Wowzao 2025-12-31 21:54

This being the only other option in your mind is hilarious

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 21:54

I don’t like people who complain.

Simple_Ad_3876 2025-12-31 21:54

I have one like that too magsafe and use mine every drive.

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 21:57

Great question. Sometimes the Tesla navigation doesn’t work well and might route you to streets that literally make no sense for you to take. So I check Apple Maps to see if it’s giving me the same thing or a better route. And if Apple Maps is giving me a better route then I’ll just mount it and use it

_______o-o_______ 2025-12-31 21:58

Option A: Mount the phone closer to line of sight, so the driver can drive safely with a clear view of the screen. Option B: Place the phone in the phone chargers below the car's display, and the driver needs to take their eyes off the road to view the screen. Assuming the driver needs to view the phone screen for a navigation app, what other options are there?

cdurbin909 2025-12-31 21:59

Link?

_______o-o_______ 2025-12-31 22:00

Navigation apps, work apps (think Uber, Lyft, etc), music apps, and so on.

Affectionate_Lab7511 2025-12-31 22:05

I have the same one. Been using it for uber/ DoorDash for a few months now. Still works great.

diaperpoop_ 2025-12-31 22:05

I have something similar. Get the one with fans on it so your phone doesn’t get hot. I do rideshare every now and then and this one’s a good mount to have.

iirGHOST 2025-12-31 22:08

Check the vion door mount out. I think its alot better and not on the screen is great too

techCholly 2025-12-31 22:09

Waze, on a screen that is closer to my primary view of the road ahead while operating a motor vehicle.

bearuwu_ 2025-12-31 22:09

what’s the name of the phone mount

CJavier11 2025-12-31 22:11

Drop the link to the mount when you have a second!

lilt0210 2025-12-31 22:14

i had the same one, after a few months i realized it started making a noise when the car hits small bumps and vibrations. annoyed me so much i took it off and put one that doesn’t move

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 22:20

Hopefully that one was just a defected one and I don’t have that issue. Had it on for a couple of days and driven over bumps and haven’t heard a rattle or noise coming from it

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 22:20

Awesome !

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 22:21

Perfect. Good to know for next time!

IWantToPlayGame 2025-12-31 22:29

Do you have a link?

IWantToPlayGame 2025-12-31 22:29

Looks good OP. Looking for a mount that is hidden when not used. Do you have a link?

_______o-o_______ 2025-12-31 22:33

I purchased [this Jowua model](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GF4LPVM) on Amazon a few years ago, but it doesn't look like it's available anymore. Looks like the same brand has a similar model with active cooling, but you should be able to find similar models from other brands. It included a USB-C cable that was long enough to run from the charger, down the console, inside the center console trim, and connects a 90-degree connector to one of the USB-C ports at the rear of the center console. It's quite seamless, and is barely noticeable when installed.

cwiceman01 2025-12-31 22:38

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 22:43

I like this 🙌 very well said and explained

romayojr 2025-12-31 22:48

wireless charger too or just a mount?

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 22:49

It’s just a mount. Didn’t want to get a wireless charger one

ZeroBalance98 2025-12-31 22:52

So you don’t use FSD? Eeek

Scary-Animator-5646 2025-12-31 22:57

I use the same mount. It’s great and when I’m in bumper to bumper traffic I can watch movies without pissing off FSD.

spkn89 2025-12-31 22:58

A functioning GPS

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 23:00

I do. Just not EVERY single time.

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 23:00

😂

rwhe83 2025-12-31 23:05

Phew, not just me. I find these insanely strange, considering the huge screen shows you everything you need.

ReviewGuy883 2025-12-31 23:08

Looks great. What mount is this?

scohen158 2025-12-31 23:09

Some people actually enjoy driving. While FSD is cool I wouldn’t have bought a M3P if it was going to drive me around all the time with FSD.

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 23:10

It’s the Vicseed mount on Amazon!

bryyantt 2025-12-31 23:31

I prefer people don't look at their phones at all.

csbsju_guyyy 2025-12-31 23:32

Yep I do Uber and Lyft part time with my wife's model 3 and this type of mount is amazing. Super super safe relatively speaking to quick glance at offers while also being able to have eyes towards the road

gustavoboi 2025-12-31 23:32

100% agreed 👏

perfect. with FSD I can play Pokemon Go.

xtothel 2026-01-01 00:24

I got a similar setup, but with a self-cooling MagSafe changer.

Manta-Avoid 2026-01-01 00:27

You could always get a cheap pop-in case and a silicone sticky, and stick it onto the screen. pull the phone out of the case when you want to go, done. Not all the info on the screen is relevant - just place the 'mount' so that it is as close-up to the speed readout as possible, and you'll be fine. The phone won't wobble or rattle either, but you'll need to plug in a cable to charge it.

chamdad 2026-01-01 00:31

I got one on Amazon that screws into the stock bolt location behind the door handle. Best spot I’ve found so far

Wind_of_Salazar 2026-01-01 00:39

I do deliveries, and need to keep an eye on my phone screen for offers. But I found this particular placement really uncomfortable. Probably better to mount on the bottom of the Tesla screen, but idk.

MuffflnMan 2026-01-01 01:25

Just don"t use your phone while driving.

_______o-o_______ 2026-01-01 01:29

There are a lot of use cases for using phone apps while driving. Try to learn about them before being dismissive and reductive.

JaniceRossi_in_2R 2026-01-01 01:37

I got [this](https://a.co/d/29TPQgw) one and it seems identical to the Jouwa one that isn’t available

variablenyne 2026-01-01 02:04

How does the magnet work when you floor it? I used to have a magnet one that would let my phone fly at me if I ever accelerated hard.

That is exactly where mine is...and I use my phone sometimes while driving for work conferences and shit.

variablenyne 2026-01-01 03:03

Nice. Might need to revisit magnetic ones then

ForeverMinute7479 2026-01-01 03:42

I personally prefer the cleaner, low profile Magbak Tesla mount. https://magbak.com/products/phone-mount-and-charger-for-tesla?srsltid=AfmBOorQwD8Tfja47ihCrrPVgbv9bZjCqnsW5oVrZwL9zKm6ob5WvGWo

Mister_Prometheus 2026-01-01 04:57

Anyone have a mount that is on the center console? I need something within arms reach and doesn’t require me to lean forward to use. The cupholder mounts are nice but I’m trying to avoid losing a cup holder.

If you can mount the phone on the bottom left corner of the screen, I did that and it changed everything.

I was gunna say that too lmaooooo

gustavoboi 2026-01-01 10:06

Send a picture please! I would love to see

Repulsive-Touch-5532 2026-01-01 11:46

Get the one that connects to the door handle

dubl_x 2026-01-01 11:49

Does it let you use it in the cars browser while driving?

fatboi_mcfatface 2026-01-01 12:13

Waze, since we don't have fucking android auto

B1A23 2026-01-01 13:11

This one’s the best. With my arm resting on the door handle I can actually look at my phone while on FSD and it doesn’t yell at me.

ClumpOfCheese 2026-01-01 13:47

Lack of custom routes is a big problem I have with FSD. I don’t like the suggested routes sometimes and then I have to do some weird shit to get it to go the way I want. I wish I could just draw a line on the screen with the rough route I want to take.

RojerLockless 2026-01-01 13:59

gym4c 2026-01-01 13:59

I have a similar one. Loved it for my Y so I bought it for my M3P

[deleted] 2026-01-01 15:18

I got the same one. Advantage is it doesn't hide behind the steering wheel and doesn't obstruct the view or make clutter.

itkilledthekat 2026-01-01 16:08

Have you tried TesAA app that allows you to interface your phone to the tesla screen. Basically android auto.

egoomega 2026-01-01 16:37

What is the point of this vs the built in nav?

Overall_Fondant_9090 2026-01-01 16:40

Some guy developed it because it shows Waze alerts. Police. Cameras. Etc.

Certain_Low_4565 2026-01-01 18:03

Sorry, while driving?

Certain_Low_4565 2026-01-01 18:03

Ui for Spotify on tesla is horrible. Using a page format for your Playlist sucks.

ZeroBalance98 2026-01-01 18:44

Completely agree

fatboi_mcfatface 2026-01-01 20:07

I tried it but it's a bit cumbersome, nothing like a native integration

SnooSquirrels9064 2026-01-01 21:36

I'm praying they're joking, but not a shred of doubt that people do that.

SnooSquirrels9064 2026-01-01 21:37

I've never had an issue with it personally....

rcuadro 2026-01-02 00:30

AHCofNY 2026-01-02 04:39

I have one similar that also did charge the phone. Ultimately, it stop charging consistently. I still use it but plug the cable directly to the phone. Then I ran into another problem. At a certain speed the phone starts oscillating above 60 mph. The bracket was not stiff enough at the hinge. My M3’s tires needs replacing due to an imbalance with the inner foams in the tire. I tried having the tires rebalanced with no luck. The thread is still good so I stopped driving long distances especially since my range dropped a lot due to cold temperatures. Back to the mount, I had to stick some thick double sided foam between the bracket and the back of the screen. I will replace h tho e tires in the spring.

itkilledthekat 2026-01-02 06:16

Yes a bit. You have to get it up and going prior to your driving start.

tropicsun 2026-01-02 08:46

Brand?

kripsus 2026-01-02 12:46

You absolutely dont need to. You want to

Subconciously 2026-01-02 18:24

I could’ve sworn that you can actually get the uber navigation on the Tesla screen now.. could be wrong but my wife and I drive uber occasionally and feel like I remember that being released.. could be wrong though

AdTechnical8550 2026-01-02 19:26

Honestly, watching NBA.

jburnelli 2026-01-02 20:58

Specialist_Quote9127 2026-01-03 10:18

My guy probably wants to text without the tesla beeping at him. This way he can bypass the warnings.

MuffflnMan 2026-01-03 15:31

Yeah... The risk of being the reason for an accident while watching on an additional display while driving is only 50 times higher than without. But the app is really usefull

Curious_Star_948 2026-01-03 20:02

The phone mount enables you to consume media while FSD is engaged. I binged an entire season for the Apothecary’s Diaries (highly recommended anime) when “driving” from the SF to LA.

_______o-o_______ 2026-01-03 20:26

Care to back up your claim of "50 times higher?" And what exactly do you think you are doing when looking at the Tesla display map?

JenShorts 2026-01-04 06:02

Why is this such a novelty? I have had one mounted like this for years. Amazon: IPOW Long Arm Universal Magnetic... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721B4TW4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I use Waze as where I live it is much more reliable for traffic and other conditions (cops!) than the Tesla nav. It was a godsend when I was gig shopping for orders popping up on the screen. I can check whatever I want to at a stoplight without looking down.

Indpendent 2026-01-04 19:45

Yes you do since last year but you still need to see your phone for exact pickup spot, name of person, and accepting/starting/ending trip, etc.

Indpendent 2026-01-04 19:49

Does it charge? Does it shake with road vibrations? What is the name of it?

Mister_Prometheus 2026-01-04 19:51

The Vion one is nice however you can’t easily use it while charging the phone.

Subconciously 2026-01-04 20:34

Ah that makes sense then

MuffflnMan 2026-01-04 22:33

You are right, the Tesla display is as bad as a smartphone for driving attention. I drive a Tesla too and try to use it as rarely as possible. I am german and the german ADAC has conducted several studies on distracted driving. In these studies, several participants drove into oncoming traffic for several seconds while reading text on their smartphones. I don't understand what's so important about a mobile phone that you absolutely have to use it while driving.

_______o-o_______ 2026-01-04 22:47

Think of it more as a UI issue than a "distracted driving" issue. Critical information is needed by the driver at various points during operation, and that could include a speedometer, navigation direction, fuel / battery level, warning or status indicators, or any other setting for the vehicle. If the phone is providing navigation directions, in an app that is designed as a navigation app for driving, then it is far safer to have it mounted in a location that is in direct line-of-site of the driver, instead of mounted far below the driver's view. It's simply more efficient, and far less distracting.

AwarenessVirtual4453 2026-01-05 00:01

I hate it in LA traffic, and since I live in LA, I experience that a lot. It either cuts people off, or sits behind the one dude going 50. It also doesn't like to go the proper speed for our freeways, which is not the speed limit. Oh top of that, it's stupid expensive.

MuffflnMan 2026-01-05 05:23

Navigation is the only thing i can understand. But you don't need it, Tesla can navigate too. You can send the route from google maps to the Tesla before, if you are like me and trust google maps more.

Individual-State-110 2026-01-06 21:49

This is what I us as well.

Optimal-Acadia5298 2026-01-07 01:16

Does it block the view while driving?

gustavoboi 2026-01-07 01:34

Yeah it did. So I actually changed the placement to the bottom left of the screen. Really love it now. I’ll post an updated picture soon
