[Modern spare](https://amzn.to/3MRCyGi) is what you are thinking of for a spare tire solution.

$450 for what SHULD be included with a 50k car!
Over 45% of new cars do NOT have spare tires on board. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired. Period. It’s just cost cutting measure that make us owners have to spend more money for towing and other crap when we get a flat.
Two nights ago I got flat in my 3. I plugged it and I’m driving it. But that wasn’t easy, 32 degrees out, crappy angle, laying on the ground at Wawa trying to push that plug in. What a pity for manufacturers to save few bucks so owners have to struggle with this bs

That’s cool. But it should be included WITH the car

Was it not a flat that a tire pump would have solved?

very few cars today come with a spare, most just ship an inflator and a can of fix a flat.

It's been a while since most cars came with a spare. My 2015 Acura TLX didn't come with one. Most people today have roadside with insurance (gone are the days when AAA was your Ace in the hole). And most people don't want to be bothered to change a flat.
I ordered a modern spare to have on some of the longer trips I take, but it doesn't stay in the trunk all the time. I agree that they should have engineered the sub trunk to have room for a spare.

Valuespare.com. It's the same company as modern spare but cheaper.

“It’s just a cost cutting measure that makes us owners have to spend more…”
That gets executives paid bonuses, not fired.

Hey! I just had a flat the other day. My second cars spare fit the Tesla so I was able to limp along. As others have stated there is no option to store an even a compact spare in the trunk or subtrunk.
Also, when you get a tow, thankfully you had a Tesla center nearby as my tire centers don’t regularly keep ev tires in stock.
The car is also too low to the ground to jack up if you have a flat. You’ll need a 2x4 or something to drive over to lift it a little. Careful you don’t smash the TPMS like I did.
I personally think it is a real shame they don’t include a spare. There are plenty of modern situations still where having a spare is a better option than roadside. Since I had one, I was able to order ev tires from Costco and wait a minute, saving a decent amount of money and being able to get the tire I wanted. . What if you have a road hazard warranty for your tires? That also generally takes time. Relying on roadside assistance just isn’t good enough

Once I changed a tire on a highway. Thought for sure I was going to die. Will never do that again! I’ve had two flats in the last year - after two flats the previous 30 years. Both times I was able to drive the car to Firestone to get them fixed (both were uncomplicated nail holes). Please don’t ask Tesla to include things that add weight and cost. Just grab a small spare (and hope the Tesla dynamics don’t get a nervous breakdown!-) if you want one.

But that would reduce the range and further adding range anxiety to people who drive or thinking about getting an EV. I agree a spare would be nice, but how often do you get a flat tire?

Also shaves a good 40-50lbs off the car

. Bet plugging was quicker and easier than changing the tire.

The best option is a rechargeable air pump, and a patch kit.

Weight doesn’t affect range as much. Aging wheels did the towing test with electric truck and aerodynamics have way higher effect than weight

Actually it was really hard. Rubber was cold and stiff. And pushing that plug in was a bitch

You must have received a different jack in the package. The puck has to be seated in the mounting hole, then the jack fits. Not much room left over, but it fits.

A tire shop won’t patch it. But you can patch it to get to a nearby tire shop.

Got this set of plastic plug spikes that screw into the tire for a puncture flat. Have yet to use one, but keep them in the trunk along with a battery powered air pump.

There are no spare tires that will fit in the frunk or sub-trunk while inflated. There is a type of spare that collapses when deflated, but I don't know if it will fit in either the frunk on sub-trunk. I'm also not sure if these are rated for the weight of a Tesla.
After FSD blowing out a sidewall on a rock, and then having to wait a week for the correct tires to arrive, I bought a modern spare, and keep it in the trunk.

There are ppl cutting the tray under the trunk floor to fit it in the sub trunk google or youtube it.

Nope, no spare options!
You want to get you a patching kit to keep in the car with you, for small stuff like nails/screws!
Some like this:

Make sure that you have an air pump as well!

Got a link? I’m down to try other options. I do have a portable compressor/jump starter in the frunk

I bought mine in a hardware store (possibly Home Depot, it’s been a while), but here’s an example product link:

I wonder how well these work. Since it’s plastic, not pliable rubbery sticky plug. Interesting. I’ll look more into those. Thanks

I won’t be without a spare. I put the Modern Spare standing behind one of the front seats, takes up the least a mound of space, or usable space in my model X or model X. No one one can sit in that seat but u can put stuff on the seat. Used it too, several times the last few years.

I bought run-flat tires from Costco. I am under the impression when I get a flat I can just keep driving slower to a tire store. Haven’t had to try it yet
