Ironically my M3LR is most efficient during winter. Gotta love California “Winters”

My M3LR is like 375-400 Wh/mi. That heater eats up the battery like crazy! We do love to preheat the car tho. Likely not helping anything.

I honesty still don’t know the point of these posts.

About 280ish with my 22 rwd and 19s with winter tires. Was about that 320-330 when it was below zero last weekend. It's about 210 in the summer

Me in Texas enjoying the 80 degree weather we’re having help my efficiency today haha

Precondition while plugged in so that it only needs the heat pump.

I have a 2026 model y and a 2024 model y. The juniper model y is noticeably better in the winter. During summer it’s the same.

Cruising at high speeds, 80+ mph, will do that to your wh/mi. Just going up to 75mph causes my consumption to increase to around 300wh/mi, so you must go 85+ frequently for long stretches. Preheating the car doesn't affect your wh/mi, as Tesla's software only tracks energy used during driving for your wh/mi. I preheat my car all the time and its never affected the wh/mi, but I always stay at or under 70 mph and I'm at 255wh/mi after 40k miles in a 21 M3LR

About the same or a bit worse in the cold for my Juniper in Michigan

Maaaan. What year is it? Cuz my 2020 Model 3 LR AWD gets 300-310 Wh/mi in winter in California. The PVC heater chews through the battery. Even when I turn off the heat it still consumes way more than advertised.

2022 I almost never use the heater seat warmers suffice enough in my climate

Key-Willingness4563 2025-12-21 06:43

i have a 2020 too and the heater drains a lot of energy compared to a/c

mogur86 2025-12-21 16:56

I've gotten roughly the same in my 25 M3LR in SE MN. All time average is 233 over 11k miles. Only had it since late August though.

It’s gotta be the heater tho. We were at 240ish Wh/mi in the summer. Don’t drive differently, if anything we drive slower in the winter. We don’t go 80+. 75 max usually.

LBGW_experiment 2025-12-21 23:00

Lots of headwinds and rain in winter months really increases drag, too. So could be that. How cold/wet is your area?

You're right, it's the heater, but more so it's the car heating up your battery to increase its efficiency and available energy
