Daily annoyances of a Model 3

insanelyhugeman8 | 2025-12-16 20:25 | 76 views

I am considering getting a Tesla M3 RWD and wanted to hear about the daily annoyances. Please share anything that bothers you about the car, no matter how small or personal you may think it is. For example… i saw a video of someone having to put their golf bag diagonally in the trunk for it to fit properly. That’s annoying! Other examples on previous cars I’ve owned are bad cup holders or no where to put my phone. Please share! \*Edit: I’m looking at a the 2025 model year highland, been asked a few times.

I find the road noise in my 23 RWD to be god awful. Drive me crazy bad. On 19” wheels.

gcjunk01 2025-12-16 20:30

The only downside is I can never go back to an ICE car!

defnotpewds 2025-12-16 20:34

Rattles, especially one that is well known on the subreddit (drivers side dash rattle) and then when you bring it to the SC, they say it's irreproducable and treat you like you're crazy when it's a well known manufacturing/design flaw.

smacman 2025-12-16 20:34

The auto wipers behave like a raccoon after a cocaine binge.

Medium_Confusion_ 2025-12-16 20:34

My daily annoyance is I don't get to use the heated steering wheel I paid for cause FSD does a great job. In all seriousness I need a spot for my sunglasses. There's no overhead sunglasses holder which is a VERY SLIGHT annoyance. Auto wipers kinda sucks NGL, it always goes way too fast and slows down too late. It's by far the worst one I've ever experienced. On a side note this probably don't apply to most but I do live in an apartment and it's a slight inconvenience to have to find charging. I am however a geek and hunting for cheap charging is somewhat fun to me, and I don't ever mind waiting at a charger for 20-30 min playing with my infotainment system to pass the time. (I know im weird) Also do note this is a midsized/compact sedan, putting stuff diagonally to fit personally is not an annoyance and should be somewhat expected when buying a smaller car.

Vox289 2025-12-16 20:34

Annoyances… it’s slow to open the glove box by finding the icon a screen deep in the menu. And they’re moved the icon a couple of times too. The auto rain sensing wipers always seem to be too fast. On the older ones (idk what year you’re getting) the center console design kind of sucked and you could lose a bowling ball down inside of it. So you had to get aftermarket bins and such for it. You can’t turn off the front passenger seat belt dinger (my dog likes to ride up there). That’s about all I can think of right now

Academic-Forever1492 2025-12-16 20:35

My LR AWD is honestly the best daily driver and I struggle constantly to fault it. Minor things - The rear windscreen takes quite a while to defog in icy conditions - The cameras get dirty often Nope that's about all I can think of

SnortingElk 2025-12-16 20:36

What year M3? Makes a huge difference. I have a 2019 M3 LR AWD and I find the seats to be a bit uncomfortable. But my teen driver has no issue with them. The Highland M3 refresh models have much more comfortable and nicer seats/interior, IMO. Also, the ride is a bit stiff on 19" wheels with the older M3 models. Back seat is quite small as well for passengers leg room. Overall ride quality in the Highland models is much improved. I'm honestly surprised how much cargo we can fit into the M3 trunk space.

spajabo 2025-12-16 20:37

Well to be fair the golf bag example you provided isn’t a fault of it being a Tesla, it’s just a sedan. Other sedans would run into the same problem. There aren’t many big annoyances but some off the top of my head: - Doors. Having to teach people how to use the doors every time someone new is in the car is annoying - Auto wipers. Still pretty bad in 2025 - Navigation. Weird directions. Non existent u-turns, doesn’t map my apartment complex correctly. Worse with the FSD 14 update for some reason Other than that everything about this car really is quite amazing. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Annoyances are annoying, but certainly don’t break the car for me

nshao 2025-12-16 20:37

24 rwd (still like the car a lot): 1. Potential rattles/creaks and other minor annoyances 2. Paint quality and how easily rock chips occur 3. Tire wear (varies on how you drive but the car is fun to accelerate with) 4. Auto wipers is not useable 5. Tesla navigation at times does silly things 6. If you sit a bit higher in your seat near the roof under sunlight it does start to get really hot

jaqueh 2025-12-16 20:38

driving on the freeway in my 2021 model 3 with the windows "closed" is almost identical to driving with them open. tesla has never been able to resolve this situation and after 75k miles, I've gotten used to it.

britboyinbay 2025-12-16 20:40

You can program it to open when you push the left scroller button

ArtInternational6485 2025-12-16 20:40

The glovebox was annoying at first but now i just hit the mic button and say open glove box and its open before I reach over to it.

CoolPrius-Nobody 2025-12-16 20:40

I have a 24 M3, I'm not a fan of getting rid of the turn signal stalk. One year later, yes I'm used to it but it's still not better than having a turn signal stalk, probably why it's back. I also don't like the button assigned to skip to next song/forward. I tend to hover my finger around there and it's by the turn signal buttons and I keep triggering a message that my finger has been in that area too long. I forget the exact wording but it's due to me putting light pressure on the turn signal buttons I guess. When using autopilot, doing things that like changing certain settings for AC/sound settings/etc I get messages to pay attention to the road way too early. I mean it would be easier to have buttons somewhere to control this kind of stuff so I don't have to look at the screen and make sure I'm pressing the right area on the screen. When I use wiper fluid it sprays from the wiper itself so it carries some of it to my driver's side window. Dumb. These are small things like you asked, obviously no deal breakers, the car is great overall. Oh yeah and the door handles suck.

HiroyukiC1296 2025-12-16 20:42

I’ve had my M3LR for a month now, but I think it’s probably the same. Having a phone holder/wireless charger is cool and all, but i hate the angle of the holder, and how narrow it is (for me anyway). I want to use a faster charging usb c cord it can’t fit in that little space, and the phone just basically hangs on by a thread. I have an iPhone 17 pro max for reference. So, I’ve just resorted to getting a magnetic phone holder. The glove box is basically nonexistent and narrow, and you practically have to pry it open (I think this was a factory defect that they acknowledge). And they picked the worst place to put the sentry mode usb, and my hands have to squeeze through. I wouldn’t use it for any type of storage anyway. It’s an annoyance for me, but I can’t find a comfortable seating position, no matter which setting I choose on the lumbar adjustment. So, it does mess with my sciatica eventually. With the presence of my other ICE cars, I can never go back to a gas car due to how it rides and handles, and the absence of turning stalks is so awkward because I’m still used to searching for a gear shifter. Then changing to my other cars feels weird because I’ll press on the gas and I’m not going anywhere lol. And FSD is a game changer for commutes.

HmmDoesItMakeSense 2025-12-16 20:42

I immediately bought a larger cupholder extension for mine because I knew that would drive me crazy. They aren’t wide enough. In general though I feel so lucky to have this car because I wasn’t even that sold on the idea, but I felt like it was the best option and now I’m just really so thrilled to have it.

HmmDoesItMakeSense 2025-12-16 20:43

I need to make a list of basic commands I need

caps_rockthered 2025-12-16 20:43

Yeah I've only ever owned sedans and all have the issue with golf bags like you've said.

ReapingFire 2025-12-16 20:45

I recommend getting one of those underscreen drawers for them, I keep all kinds of things tucked up under my screen, was like $50 on aliexpress

kojodo21 2025-12-16 20:46

The wireless charging rest on the Highland gets hot quickly, which can slow down the charging speed of your phone.

Financial-Study503 2025-12-16 20:47

You need to add wiper fluid yourself way too often.

jebidiaGA 2025-12-16 20:49

Bought a 2019 new and still love. Like my wife's model y better though

apiso 2025-12-16 20:50

Best car I’ve ever owned by a mile. Auto wipers coming on far too aggressively in situations they really shouldn’t is the biggest one. And honestly, I sort of hate the phone key thing. It’s too useful to not have the app set up for other reasons but I find since I keep my wallet in my back pocket I need to butt-check things like the trunk, and if you happen to forget a phone in the car that is a key, the car broadcasts that it is unlocked (side view mirrors stay “out”) which means anyone savvy to it can easily make off with your phone or both your phone and car. Separate from that it makes forgetting any other keys you might need that much easier to do since that won’t prevent you from driving away.

VirtuosicSound 2025-12-16 20:50

You can just use voice commands and say “Open Glove Box”

weisdrunk 2025-12-16 20:51

minor annoyance. The new model 3 steering wheel has stitching on the backside where my fingers sit and it’s kind of scratchy. Especially in the winter with dry skin. Wasn’t like that on my last model 3 (2023 pre-highland).

TowElectric 2025-12-16 20:52

Highland or older?

TowElectric 2025-12-16 20:52

Model S can take a golf bag straight across. Not really a sedan, but kinda. It's a real boat though.

Im-Just-a-King 2025-12-16 20:53

I’ve never seen a worse set of auto windshield wipers before.

defnotpewds 2025-12-16 20:54

pauligrinder 2025-12-16 20:54

I've had my Model 3 for almost half a year now, and at first my biggest annoyance was that there's no physical button for the frunk. Now that I've gotten used to opening it before stepping out of the car or through the permanent notification on my phone, it's less annoying (and a miniscule issue to begin with). Now that the winter bs started here, my new daily annoyance is the rear camera. It gets dirty immediately when I drive off, and then reversing is a blurry mess until I wipe it. It wipes of really easily, but having to do it all the time sucks. Apparently it's less of an issue on the newer models.

TemporaryConfusion7 2025-12-16 20:54

Has to be older, my highland doesn’t suffer from anything mentioned (2025)

upsndwns 2025-12-16 20:54

The only thing I can think of is the wind noise on my '23 Model 3. The weatherstripping design around the windows especially is crap. I had to adjust the window tilt and shim the seals. The car is LOW. I have to kind of fall into it. Not fun when your back hurts or you are recovering from hernia surgery (me right now). Not ideal for a family car, but I'm about done hauling kiddos around. I'd buy it all over again, I hate when I have to drive one of our other cars.

No-Distribution8112 2025-12-16 20:54

Use a voice command to open the glove box - much easier and faster.

weisdrunk 2025-12-16 20:55

2nd the wiper fluid. It smears across the side of the car window almost each time when using it just like all prior cars that didn’t.

Personal_Light_9731 2025-12-16 20:56

Same!

Ion94x 2025-12-16 20:59

I've had my LR AWD since the end of 2020. Besides some rattles which Tesla service fixed after 2 appointments, this car has been awesome. I'm 65k miles with pretty much zero maintenance besides new tires and filter changes. The minor thing for me was range anxiety but that ended after the first 3 weeks. I'm going to drive this car into the ground most likely.

runit8 2025-12-16 20:59

The vibrating of the rear speaker grills.. I need to get it fixed it’s driving me insane

CMDR_Satsuma 2025-12-16 21:00

Rattles, definitely, as well as road noise. It's not a quiet car - at least, my 2020 isn't.

Wise-Revolution-7161 2025-12-16 21:02

wipers

krenx88 2025-12-16 21:02

Not the newer models.

Spirited-Length-5891 2025-12-16 21:03

Yep, mine too, especially in cold weather. Every time I drive in freezing temperatures I have to lower and raise my window to find the perfect spot that the air doesn’t whistle. Otherwise, I love my 22 LR.

OutrageousImpress444 2025-12-16 21:03

Gets dirty annoyingly quickly Wipers in auto are bad No stalks (in mine) Very minor things, love the car. Way more than I thought I would

commanderlefty 2025-12-16 21:04

Maybe the pettiest comment here: if you don’t have a garage and you live in a cold (especially icy) location - the 1 inch the windows have to go down to open (and close) the doors since there is no upper frame- freezes sometimes and drives me nuts. I carry an old gift card to slip between the window and the seal to break it free on the worst of days. But overall best car I’ve ever had by a mile and would buy one again without hesitation.

ryencool 2025-12-16 21:04

Our 2022 model 3 has been the easiest to own and operate car in our lives, im 43, wife is 33. We have had it almost 2.5 years and in that time its requored air in the tires, and topping off the wiper fluid. Now days recalls on new models, paint issues tranmission issues, engine detonations, they all seem to occour more frequently, and we ha ent had one issue. We have the perfect set up though. We get free 24/7 charging at our office, which is 9 minutes from home. So we haven't had to pay to charge but maybe a dozen times in that 2.5 years. Thats been huge. We also get i surance for 70$/month thrpugh our work. So the czr costs less than 600$/month to drive and we share it.

shortguy91 2025-12-16 21:07

I got that cup holder you can attach to the door, with rubber insert. I throw my sun glasses in there.

WestCoastHopHead 2025-12-16 21:07

I accidentally turn the wipers on when using my turn signal.

grandslamtrain 2025-12-16 21:07

Biggie - somehow feeling and hearing every bumps in the road without feeling connected to the road. Annoying - wireless charging is near useless with iphone. Charges extremely slow and overheat quickly.

Todd6114 2025-12-16 21:08

To add to the glovebox…. You can’t add anything in there it’s so small. Took me about 30 min to get the USB out with my sausage fingers, so I could change the lock sound

AggressiveHabit9018 2025-12-16 21:09

Depreciation, and regenerative breaking gets tiring already want to get rid of it

The_Saiyann 2025-12-16 21:10

For me, LR 2022, the back seats are a bit squeaky weirdly. Made something I can fix but an annoyance! And then in the UK, autopilot is average. My previous Audi I could just put my hand on the steering wheel every so often but the Tesla demands you pull slightly on the wheel to show you’re aware. Overall however, I love the car for the money I paid.

St_Gabriel 2025-12-16 21:11

My main annoyance is not having to go to a petrol station, where I could get a sneaky pie without the missus knowing when I fueled up

Thomas5020 2025-12-16 21:12

2024 Highland, I've got a lot of squeaks and rattles.

Thomas5020 2025-12-16 21:13

Quite a few squeaks and rattled on my highland, pretty annoying. Half of them are really noticeable when you play music and the speakers vibrate everything.

p3dal 2025-12-16 21:14

My driver's door seals creak over every bump in the road. Auto wipers turn on every time you activate autopilot, and they go max speed at the slightest hint of rain. My mobile app frequently doesn't work for opening the frunk and the iPhone widget doesn't work at all, it just opens the app. The lack of a manual release for the glove box is annoying. The thumb button door handles confuse every passenger, they often want to open the door with the emergency release instead of the button. The trunk hinge seems very fragile. If I push down on the trunk from anywhere except for the center of the trunk lid, it will torque and flex enough that it doesn't close properly. The frunk latch is much too stiff and the manual instructs you exactly how to close the frunk so as not to bend the hood. The 20" performance wheels on the first generation are boat anchors and the performance tires can't handle the weight of the model 3 on a track, and the factory suspension supports basically no camber adjustment. 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance.

p3dal 2025-12-16 21:15

>On the older ones (idk what year you’re getting) the center console design kind of sucked and you could lose a bowling ball down inside of it. I actually picked the 2019 for exactly this reason! I love the cavernous design of this center console.

thedanishhunter 2025-12-16 21:16

Crappy suspension arms that have resulted in them needing to be changed after only 100k km. Weird rattles, and my driver's seat squeaks when I sit in it, accelerate and when I brake, and that annoys me more than it should. The depreciation in value is also substantial (bought mine used 2 days before Elon dropped all the prices by several thousand euros back in 2023) it has dropped more than 60 percent of its value from when I bought it. The suspension is very rough, I also have a performance edition, so I know it is extra stiff, but you do feel every part of the road. The "self drive" we have in Europe works perfectly on the highway, but in the city it is so weird, it does not know what to do with bicycles that share the road, and therefore breaks completely, and god forbid a car crosses the road several hundred meters away. And the thing that annoys me most is, if there is a "hazardous" situation and it happend too late for it to really do anything about it, it will break to an almost complete stop, further down the road from where it sensed danger which makes no sense at all...

p3dal 2025-12-16 21:17

I completely forgot this car has voice recognition. I'm not sure I've ever seen it work correctly. I added one of those S3XY buttons for my glove box and I'm so much happier because my passengers can open it themselves.

Wasabitacos 2025-12-16 21:18

Auto wipers and stalkless turn signals

p3dal 2025-12-16 21:18

Seems like that would be based on how much you are using it, no? I've not found this to be a problem, though I add wiper fluid on all of my cars regularly.

WhaleDonation7 2025-12-16 21:19

People will think you are rich

Oh-well100 2025-12-16 21:19

I love my car and it doesn't give me any daily annoyances other than I hate the door handle.

>The glove box is basically nonexistent and narrow, and you practically have to pry it open (I think this was a factory defect that they acknowledge). It doesn't pop open on it's own?

RevolutionaryLab654 2025-12-16 21:22

I always have a pocket knife and pens in my pockets, and the clips always seem to hit the steering wheel when I get in and out of the car. They’ve started to tear away at the leather on the wheel. I haven’t found a good fix for that yet. There’s also not much leg room for anyone sitting behind me, when I have passengers. I’m 6’2”. The car also EATS tires, but quite a bit of that is my fault for having a lead foot and a need for speed. (‘22 M3P) Spotify won’t ever seem to pick up where I left off when listening to long podcasts. I love the white seats, but I do have to scrub them down every few weeks to keep the clean. The auto wipers occasionally like to go nuts on their own, but it’s not very often. If you use the windshield washers while going down the road, it WILL coat both side windows with dirty water. There’s no drip rail to stop the water from getting blown all over the place. The fix is to try to do it while stopped, or just deal with it. All in all, these are minor gripes, and it’s still the best car I’ve ever owned!

crist_toro 2025-12-16 21:22

Paint is extremely thin. If you do a lot of highway, you’ll suffer with stone chips all over your hood and front bumper. If you care about it, consider ppf from day one. Another thing is that the car’s ground clearance is not much, so you have to be careful with bumps or roads that are not in good conditions, especially if you are carrying passengers. And well, all teslas attract a lot of attention. So be prepared to deal with notifications from sentry mode showing people touching or inspecting your car while parked in public areas. Other than that, it’s a wonderful car!

jimmy9120 2025-12-16 21:22

I wish I had a hatch lol

chessasaur 2025-12-16 21:23

2026 M3 RWD - The voice commands don’t work sometimes and the “radio” doesn’t always respond to button presses. Might need a software update but other than that no issues. Drives like a dream!

flaron86 2025-12-16 21:24

When the door won’t open until I pull my phone out of my pocket, only sometimes. Same with trunk, more often with trunk and always when my hands are full

https://a.co/d/4HISqEC Something like this

sungrad 2025-12-16 21:25

The charge cable doesn't unlock once charging is done unlike other EVs. If you're using a Tesla home charger you can push a button on the charger. If you're using anything else, you gotta open the app to release the cable.

CaliDude75 2025-12-16 21:25

Sometimes the walk-up unlock doesn’t work. I have to open the app to make it work. #firstworldproblems. 🤷🏻‍♂️

cowdog360 2025-12-16 21:26

Wind noise. I have a 2021 SR+, and the driver's side window has an annoying bit of wind noise near my head. I've had it looked at several times, they've tried adjustments, adding foam, etc.. still there. Also, the suspension.. maybe it's me but now that I'm at 50K.. it feels like I feel the roughness of the road a lot more now. Finally, rattles and creaks, and plastic misalignments. It's not a Leuxs. I knew that going in, but it's still annoying. And the AC STINK.... every year I have to replace the cabin filter and foam down the Evap coils or it smells nasty. And I've even tried the aftermarket hood gasket to help.. doesn't.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:27

This is a great one, it can be difficult to find a spot for sunglasses in a lot of cars!

admadmwd 2025-12-16 21:28

Definitely the auto wipers. They activate at random times, which is really annoying, and they tend to smudge the windshield instead of cleaning it.

DDD_db 2025-12-16 21:28

Yep. From dusk till dawn whenever I turn on autopilot the wipers randomly operate. I have to remember to turn off auto wipers every time I turn on autopilot.

cm-lawrence 2025-12-16 21:32

I honestly haven't had any issues like that in 3 years with my '23 Model 3. Haven't tried golf clubs, but the trunk is as roomy as most sedans I've owned, plus you get the frunk (which I tend to forget about). One little nit pick - the built in Spotify app won't default to shuffle on my playlists, and sometimes it seems it is not really randomly shuffling. Pretty minor annoyance. One time, I let the car do a software upgrade and it took longer than I expected and I had to wait to use my car. It was kind of my fault.

Soccermad23 2025-12-16 21:33

Lol my phone constantly goes into "Charging stopped until temperature cools down" mode when it is on the charger. However, it is currently the Australian summer, so hopefully this is no longer an issue when winter hits.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:33

Looking at a new 25 or 26 model year! I’ll update the post now

SeventyH8 2025-12-16 21:33

I have to fold my mirror cover over inside the visor to stop a rattle. Other than that, forward collision warnings are dumb and scare the shit out of you for no reason. And auto wipers dont work

I went to fill mine up last night and was surprised that it started overflowing after pouring only half a gallon into it!

PM_YOUR_STEAM_KEYS1 2025-12-16 21:36

Got my model 3 highland RWD back in June, so just about hitting the half year mark with it. Some things I noticed * major blind spots caused by the thick A pillars (though this could be a new car thing) * parallel parking cameras aren't as good as my previous car (nissan) * no wiper speed for very very light drizzle (the lowest setting is too fast half the time imo) * the pockets behind the driver/passenger seats are terrible for holding anything besides paper thin stuff * having to explain to people how to open my door, i wish there was a way to pop the doors from the screen * head rest is not the best, although the seat itself is comfy * the LED light strip reflects off the windshield pretty noticeably

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:37

This is exactly what i was looking for, thank you!

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:37

This is a good one, wouldn’t think about that

tenchi4u 2025-12-16 21:38

Cool, not just mine then.

hi_internet_friend 2025-12-16 21:38

Interior and exterior door handles. I dont mind them as the daily driver of the vehicle, but constantly explaining them to vehicle guests is a chore. Tesla maps are not as good as Google maps or waze. (Puzzling since everyone swears they just use the Google maps api). It has on occasion gotten me multiple streets away from a destination I am unfamiliar with. This is why most people want android auto. I've "fixed this" by installing a magsafe phone mount and using my phone for nav to new places. Blinker - this may have improved with the refresh/highland, but I regularly click the blinker on (to the point where I can audibly hear it) without the blinkers engaging.  2018 Model 3 owner Other than those things, car has been a dream

Extension-Shopping84 2025-12-16 21:38

Windshield wiper fluid gets all over the driver's side window. Stupid design. & Paint chips.

Tin_Can_739 2025-12-16 21:41

Cruise control/auto pilot/full self driving always enables auto wipers. Wipes every time it sees glare(always). Completely worthless function. After driving a Tesla, I forget to shut off other cars and walk away in drive. Leaving the windows open and the doors unlocked. Tesla does all this and I get used to it. Other cars are too slow. Even the base model is a lot more instantly engaging. The interior is not as nice as the price reflects.

PhysicalLibrary1681 2025-12-16 21:41

I've had mine for a few weeks. The road noise is extremely loud. Anybody have any fixes for this?

RevolutionaryLab654 2025-12-16 21:42

You can turn off the “one pedal mode” and if you want to set it to “coast” instead. I never would because it’s an amazing feature and keeps you from wearing on the brakes, but it’s an option.

SnortingElk 2025-12-16 21:43

> Looking at a new 25 or 26 model year! I’ll update the post now Ok, yes the new Highland refresh models have dramatically improved the interior build quality, seat comfort + ventilated front seats and overall ride quality with much better suspension. My biggest daily annoyance of a brand new Tesla would be knowing the depreciation rate, lol.. I'm dead serious. New values drop like a rock. If you are just leasing obviously it's a non-issue.

TheEvilBlight 2025-12-16 21:44

“Fog wipers”

LordFluffyPotato 2025-12-16 21:45

I’m agree about the wipers and doors. Disagree about navigation, I’ve never had and trouble with it. But I don’t have FSD, maybe that makes the navigation different?

MomentOriginal1490 2025-12-16 21:46

It’s not a complaint to an M3 since it actually is worse for the other models but having to pay for replacement tires. EVs create so much more torque that the threads wear out sooner so much that your tire costs essentially double compared to ICE cars.

IneedmyFFAdvice 2025-12-16 21:46

My seat doesn’t come back exactly to my programmed spot. Kind of annoying. That and I can’t see all my text history on my phone which makes texting contacts fairly annoying. 22AWD

Human-Exam-8585 2025-12-16 21:47

People complementing the car all the time. Constant smiling when you step on the throttle. Not having to lock your doors and windows each time you leave the car. Not being able to watch a complete episode of my favorite sitcoms while at the supercharger due to idle fees.

longbri4 2025-12-16 21:47

My 2023 rattles like crazy and the road noise from poor window seals is unacceptable

mutantninja001 2025-12-16 21:47

The windshield wipers go off randomly when it’s dry outside. The regenerative brakes don’t function fully when it’s freezing outside.

tombobs420 2025-12-16 21:47

Wind / road noise is awful in 2020 Performance. Lack of physical buttons sucks. Weird noises from AC / suspension / brakes. Everything else is awesome, especially acceleration and tech.

Open-Interview8966 2025-12-16 21:48

Another vote for auto wipers. Utter crap, just fit a sensor ffs.

gribson 2025-12-16 21:48

If you're like me and didn't bother getting TPMS sensors for your winter tires: your car absolutely will not stand for it. That message reminding you that you don't have pressure sensors will always be front and center on the dash, covering up more important warnings. Unless you get those all-important sensors, you won't realize your wiper fluid is low until you're driving blind on the freeway after getting splashed by a truck.

HistoricalHurry8361 2025-12-16 21:50

I think about the heated steering wheel all the time too! Would be nice to have a heated handgrip on the doors.

aranea100 2025-12-16 21:51

You may have to get your camera cleaned.

QuantumR 2025-12-16 21:51

I have a 2023 M3 RWD. Im annoyed with not having the absolutely largest battery capacity possible. I shouldnt have cheaped out on that. Im annoyed that skinny glasses bottles or canned beverages arent secured in the cup holders. Larger cups like a yeti are too big. Hydroflasks are the best fit. Im annoyed that i cant fit my cooler in the trunk. The opening isnt wide enough.

Investor02116 2025-12-16 21:51

Sirius NOT uploading. Repeatedly, need to back out of my garage and turn the car off and on again. Some days, that doesn’t work so I drive in quiet.

Tricky_Boysenberry53 2025-12-16 21:52

The amount of off gassing that happens and makes your windows look terrible makes me so mad. Also I get two random spots when it's humid all the time here in Florida where condensation builds up on the windshield. Also the seats begin to squeak after about a year which is annoying if you're driving in the city. If you're on the highways it's fine. This may have been improved with the redesigned seats.

QuantumR 2025-12-16 21:52

Yep. Theyll think you support Elon too. Like who gives a shit.

Sceptz 2025-12-16 21:53

So you're saying the Model S can take the whole thing? It can take it all? Not just the tip? Interesting...

Bizkit64 2025-12-16 21:53

Had my 24 since new. I would say overall quality. It’s not comparable to my replaced Audi S4 in terms of build quality, maybe more aligned with my wife’s Honda. But it’s been a great cheap car. 🙏🏼

gribson 2025-12-16 21:54

Your squeaks might be from the windows. Frameless windows squeak if you don't oil the seals every once in a while.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:54

The A pillar blind spot is a good one, more and more new vehicles are having this issue and it can be very annoying.

msb06c 2025-12-16 21:54

I had mine cleaned recently… autowipe is still terrible 🤭

thepeanutjelly 2025-12-16 21:54

How easily hot the interior gets. Getting windows tinted is absolutely mandatory.

postiverate1 2025-12-16 21:55

Every 8 months, I have to add windshield washer fluid

krenx88 2025-12-16 21:57

My 2019 rattles like crazy. But the highland and juniper models are really quiet.

Machineslave240 2025-12-16 21:58

It doesn’t come with a garage door opener built in. You have to pay extra for something to make that happen or get the old clicky remote out of the junk drawer like I did. It’s easily the most rattly thing in my car and I hate that. No built in sunglasses holder so I put one on my visor. It’s so much fun to dive one of the most modern and technologically advanced cars and still get to explain to passengers why you have some super ancient rattly crap from the 80’s on your visor

Spiersy1991 2025-12-16 21:58

The door thing, I do get it and its seems minor, but after saying big then grab small nearly 800x can get old, fast! Also indicators, not sure if its just mine, but sometimes it just won't cancel, at least not quickly. Can end up in a loop of left right indicators. Could just be mine though.

Gabeduhbabe 2025-12-16 21:58

Frunk doesn’t automatically open kind of annoying. I’m 5’11 and the car is low to the ground so getting in and out is annoying and sometimes I’ll kick the speakers getting out that’s annoying. With two people sometimes it forgets who’s who and my phone won’t unlock the car or my girlfriend’s phone won’t either. Range we have an AWD LR M3 21’ and while on a full charge of 100% it says 291 miles but even when babying the car a trip of 231 miles requires us to stop 2 times and charge. Just annoying. But the car is also the greatest car and it was the easiest car buying experience. All the good outweighs the bad.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 21:59

This is a great one, i wouldn’t have known otherwise

fanstoyou 2025-12-16 22:01

There is nothing an issue with the car - go ahead and enjoy. If you’ve never had a Tesla before, then be ready to slap yourself for waiting so long to get one. No car on earth is better than a Tesla No car on earth is better than a Tesla No car on earth is better than a Tesla

Rare-Lettuce8044 2025-12-16 22:02

Wow I thought I was nuts to think this was happening to me! So I'm not crazy? Lol

viacombusta 2025-12-16 22:02

I have a 2020 SR+, so I have no one to blame but myself, but the range is not enough no matter the driving conditions

mjm8218 2025-12-16 22:02

The doors & windows are badly over engineered.

Dolo12345 2025-12-16 22:03

yes newer models, 2025 highland here’s I have passenger side rattles on bumps

Huge-Assumption7106 2025-12-16 22:06

Only downside I’ve noticed is the build quality feels a bit lacking for the MSRP, but this is for the 2021 M3LR. I have test driven (and have been driven in) a 2025 M3 and those issues have largely been resolved. IMO the M3 is the best car on the market if you are looking at this price point, particularly if you have reliable access to charging (ideally not only super chargers).

mkbbn 2025-12-16 22:08

Some good ones already, including the damned tight cupholders. But am I really the only person upset that group texts are still not a thing?

10-mm-socket 2025-12-16 22:09

The doors man… that is super annoying lol. And auto wipers are definitely erratic.

Dawhap 2025-12-16 22:09

Rattles and and creaks. Everything else is like a regular car. I feel like not having to do oil changes/filling up gas makes it worth it in the long run. Also, only really buy if you can charge at home. I wouldn’t recommend teslas to anyone who cannot charge at home.

Outrageous-Fox-1376 2025-12-16 22:10

I also had a rattle in the parcel shelf especially with bass heavy music. Scheduled service with Tesla and they fixed it no cost. Seemed a pretty common problem with the highland models. At least with the early 24 ones which mine is.

Thomas5020 2025-12-16 22:11

It's the passenger side window control, and I think the shelf in the back with the subs on. SC said that it's normal because speakers vibrate. Okay but your premium sound system is shaking my car to pieces...

Fit_Act_1235 2025-12-16 22:12

The horn is a speaker system. If it’s raining - you have no horn basically

Ok_Description_ 2025-12-16 22:13

Thomas5020 2025-12-16 22:14

I think it's the passenger side window control and the shelf in the boot. You can stop the door rattle by putting pressure on the switch.

Supermr2 2025-12-16 22:14

Get the fucknout here?!

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 22:17

What If you could charge at work?

Ok_Description_ 2025-12-16 22:17

Cont.. Window washers built into the wipers, sooo annoying. Having to cancel the indicator twice to then indicate the other off a round about. Auto wipers in general. Stone chips.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-16 22:17

There’s a good one. Wow

dts-five 2025-12-16 22:17

Crawling in and out of the thing. Coming from trucks and jeeps. I hate how low to the ground it is. Speed bumps and getting in and out drive me crazy. And the random coming to a stop when AP is engaged. And if manages to hit every pothole. I am in a 2018 with HW2.5.

mixgasdivr 2025-12-16 22:19

Why not support Elon? He employs hundreds of thousands of American workers, has done more to combat climate change than any other person in the world, runs the most American car company of any in the world. Why in the world would you not want to support someone like this?

Cordies 2025-12-16 22:28

Having to turn shuffle on every damn time (Apple Music). Or worse. Tidal having to load my playlist every time I get back in the car

FIdelity88 2025-12-16 22:29

Can we please talk about the glovebox on the new (Highland) M3? What the f*ck is up with that. It can’t even fit my hand to remove the USB stick, that’s how narrow it is. They really couldn’t find a bit more space? Oh and the auto wipers: works great for me on the highland. Don’t know what they did, but after a certain update about a year ago, I almost never have any problems anymore.

zvisus 2025-12-16 22:30

This is not a good car for countries with real winters. I have to be careful of leaving my car out overnight because the windows love to freeze shut and make it almost impossible to safely open and close the door without preheating the car. Door handles that freeze and need to be smacked? Come on. And don’t forget the wipers. Oy vey. If there’s slushie snow the wipers will keep getting chunks of frozen ice on them while I drive which makes wiping the windshield almost impossible. To be fair, this is on a 2020 model. Maybe they added some kind of wiper heater in later years? It’s like the people that designed the car never tested it in the winter.

zvisus 2025-12-16 22:32

The card trick sounds interesting. I never thought to try that. My solution is to preheat the car on defrost mode for five minutes before I get in.

Old_Bowl1662 2025-12-16 22:33

Maybe you know this already but I didn’t. You can cancel a turn signal by pressing the stalk, assuming your car has stalks, in the same direction a second time. This avoids getting into a a left right indicator loop.

Fit_Act_1235 2025-12-16 22:33

Yeah no idea how that passed QA lol, it’s the only thing I HATE about my Highland model 3.

SirAgravaine 2025-12-16 22:34

Some gripes from my M3 (not all of these are unique or exclusive to Teslas). For context I have a 2019 that I got brand new (6 years): - Annoying turn signal actuator. - No app-based volume control, which can lead to ear-bleeding when going from an app that needs high volume levels (a call) to an app that needs relatively low volume levels (music). - Inconsistent and otherwise untrustworthy FSD (I paid for FSD when I ordered) to the point where I only engage it briefly to do something with both hands while mostly paying attention. (I see this feature as as a 'more safe than 100% distracted from wheel' bonus.) - Annoying center console lid (lower). - MicroSD failed after about 1.5 years, which is required for proper dashcam/security. - No longer an issue, but my first standard 12v car battery failed without warning. Now there is a pre-warning built in. It bricked my car, but it was covered under warranty and Tesla sent a person out to swap it at no charge. - $220 Registration fee in Georgia (to cover lost fuel tax revenue; for my annual driving it equated to the equivalent of a 10 MPG vehicle). - The bottom of the interior door material is too soft/cushioned. Over the years I have snagged it one too many times with my boots when getting out and it has caused a few sections to peel up (think small gouges on nerf/stress balls where the material is still clinging on). - Some weird and irregular issues with overheat warnings from charging/not external weather related temperatures (maybe happened 3 times in 6 years) that caused me to be concerned while away from the vehicle.  - Chipping on the front 'grillless' face of the car. While it looks great, it doesn't hold up to road wear and tear without some aftermarket protection. - Unexpected battery drain/unreliable range estimation. In the first 4 months of owning it I had a near 'brick' 0% scare because of unexpected battery drain and bad range estimation. Over the years I swapped to % view from range view on my 'fuel gauge' because like a cell phone/laptop the total battery % duration depends entirely on what you are doing. - The need for someone to keep the door open or sit in the driver's seat to goof off while away from the vehicle. Sometimes I would leave my kids in the car to hang out /play games while shopping and if they aren't in the driver's seat, don't leave the door open etc. the car tends to go to sleep/disable the entertainment features. - EDIT: One more to add - the frequency of updates is great and adds great features but it can be annoying at times. The vehicle's UI has changed more times than I can count. I miss some features/design decisions from past iterations of the interface. I feel like it's in a decent spot right now, but if the past is any indication...it will change again. I may think of more later, but that's all I can think of. A LOT of positives/opposite of gripes that counter the majority of these. It's a great car, best I have ever owned/used.

zvisus 2025-12-16 22:36

Re: the clips hitting your steering wheel, have you tried using an easy entry profile that moves the seat further back when you need to get in and out?

just_jedwards 2025-12-16 22:37

And the doors have to be explained on the way in _and_ out. I still haven't managed to get a script that reliably gets people to find the internal door open button on the first try.

RevolutionaryLab654 2025-12-16 22:40

Yes but I think it’s just where I have to get in and out of the door frame where my hip still hits the steering wheel even with it moved out of the way. It’s either my height or the way I have to roll out of the car 😂

fnbannedbymods 2025-12-16 22:43

Random slow downs / jolts in autopilot vs CC. Rattles and cabin noise Have over 100k but honestly that's about it.

dbj1986 2025-12-16 22:45

I’d say auto wipers is really my only gripe. They are utterly useless and for this to happen in such a tech focused car is a little odd. The sentry mode also leaves a lot to be desired with picture quality. Pretty awesome car other than that.

rainmaker_superb 2025-12-16 22:49

25 Highland RWD here. \- The LED lights can reflect onto the windshield when its bright outside. It doesn't block your vision, but you do spend a lot of time wondering why nobody at the factory noticed it. \- Rarely, you'll start the car and the park assist will not be available. It goes away with a restart, but it's really inconvenient. \- The defroster likes to take its sweet time. \- Having a glass roof is a cool idea, until it gets hot. I have a set of roof shades that I've never taken off since my first summer with it. The A/C being a bit weak doesn't help this cause either. \- Sometimes after an update, I'll get a random pop up telling me that Autopilot isn't available. It usually goes away with the next update, but now it makes me hesitant to promptly update. \- It's a big car with a lot of torque. If you have a heavy foot when you drive, you'll go through tires quickly. \- The brand has an unfortunate image and it can be weird to drive in certain parts of the world because of it. That being said, I like the car. It's the smoothest driving car I've ever owned, and I just hope it holds up well over the years.

Mental_Pineapple_865 2025-12-16 22:52

Fold down half the back seat and the driver fits fine.

zvisus 2025-12-16 22:52

I’m the same height as you but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed myself hitting the wheel that way. Tbh, the idea of carrying pens in my front pocket seems super uncomfortable for me

06maverick 2025-12-16 22:54

The god damn wipers. Constantly running in autopilot!!

skanderbeg_alpha 2025-12-16 23:00

- Your milage will vary(pun not intended) in terms of build quality. Mine took multiple visits to the service centre and still has rattles and squeeks. - Windscreen wipers are trash. The lack of rain sensor means that they are inconsistent at best and you end up fiddling with the speed constantly. - Rear camera gets dirty often and you have to wipe it down manually. Door pillar cameras are inconsistent at night. - Paint quality is crap. Razor thin and chips easily

NotAnAIOrAmI 2025-12-16 23:09

I find my wife's 2018 Model 3 to ride kind of rough. And the learning curve for the majority of screen-only function menus is pretty fierce. Other than that, nothing, really, it's a peppy, reliable car that's fun to drive. Her car didn't have any of the maddening defects people were reporting, and I'd guess the quality has risen since 2018? The 12v battery did die on her once after 3 years, but other than that, 120K miles and very little maintenance. She insists she'll keep it until at least 200K, before I can move her into a BMW i4. Personally, I prefer my Ioniq 5 for design, ride, comfort, features, and space but she likes her M3 a lot.

FrictionBrntAnis 2025-12-16 23:10

I absolutely fucking hate the wiper programming. Cruise on? Wipers on. FFS. I already turned them off. Why are they on auto now?  Seriously my #1 annoyance.

JAK3CAL 2025-12-16 23:13

Mostly climate based, the auto wipers can be terrible and the cameras get obscured immediately in rain or snow. Beyond that it’s an incredible vehicle and so fun to drive. I also am not a huge fan of the interior climate system overall, it is kind of annoying to need to mess with the UI when switching into camp mode or dog mode and then back. Very minor edge case complaint.

skooba83 2025-12-16 23:18

I have a 24 LR AWD Auto wipers are terrible Door handles for strangers (even inside) Driver seat rattles (have an appointment soon to get it looked at) Closing the frunk almost always leaves smudges on the hood Viability out of the rear view mirror isn’t that great, can’t see as low as I’d like Opening the glove box through the dash is stupid YouTube music sometimes gets stuck where it won’t refresh a playlist - have to use a different app for it to force close music and then relaunch Built in nav sometimes makes some bad routes, but it’s usually not an issue for me. I don’t like the glass roof. I live in south FL so it’s hot. Had to get a cover for it, problem solved. Overall I’m happy with the car and would probably buy/lease again.

sciance7 2025-12-16 23:19

Rattles annoy me still. But the car is so quiet, they sound louder than they really are. Also false forward collision warnings are super annoying since they affect my Tesla Insurance premiums. Ymmv - if you don't use safety score then it's a non issue.

captain_morgana 2025-12-16 23:20

I have a right hand drive, so this might be a r-h-d problem as I don't know if the wipers are configured differently in l-h-d vehicles. But you have to have the windows UP if you use the windows washers. Otherwise you also get a wash (unless you have a window guard), which hasn't been an issue in other vehicles I have had. The indicators can be annoying to get used to, but its a very minor issue. But it's just the best car I have ever had. I literally lived in my first Model 3. And now, in my second, I upgraded to the AWD model and I probably won't need a face-lift when I'm 50 now. The acceleration is amazing. Its comfy, easy to use, does everything I need it to (including towing my boat AND dragging people stuck in creeks and mud to safety), has inane range, has games and theatre, and looks slick. Hell, even my cat cruises around in the front seat with me and I can check on him if I need to leave him in the car. It was my dream car before I bought it. It is STILL my dream car. And I'm pretty sure my enthusiasm for it has sold several more Teslas, as I have expounded the benefits of driving one to anyone who wants to give mine a whirl.

Organic-Difficulty-7 2025-12-16 23:20

Finding the door handles on my stealth grey in the dark

sciance7 2025-12-16 23:20

This exactly

Dawhap 2025-12-16 23:25

Charging at work is fine as long as it’s consistent.

magnumopus44 2025-12-16 23:30

The on screen gear selector is probably the biggest annoyance. I have the new refresh with the front camera and indicator stalk which makes a huge difference. Its a really nice daily driver and I can't recommend it enough.

Tom_Spratt_1986 2025-12-16 23:32

Brother, I play 100+ rounds of golf a year. Putting my clubs in the trunk is FAR from an annoyance. 🙄

jamz_noodle 2025-12-16 23:35

The door handles on the outside are idiotic.

no_butseriously_guys 2025-12-16 23:37

I highly recommend steering wheel cover to address this issue. I bought an alcantara one that you stitch on yourself and it's been amazing.

charleshood 2025-12-16 23:37

They are too low and curb out often.

Bwuka 2025-12-16 23:39

This can be done automatically using the S3XY Commander

Oo_Juice_oO 2025-12-16 23:39

It can take the whole thing and then some. It can probably take two, one the regular way, and another also in the back. You can also fit two like a spitroast, if two in the back isn't awkward enough, one in the trunk and one in the frunk.

InterstellarChange 2025-12-16 23:39

wipers are a part of the passive safety and autopilot, fsd. That's why it automatically defaults to it. It must be able to automatically clear the camera view.

no_butseriously_guys 2025-12-16 23:40

Having the headrest tilted forward is a big PITA. Or neck.

AnyAtmosphere7149 2025-12-16 23:42

Actually my golf bag fits perfectly across the trunk. On the drivers side of the trunk there is a pocket sort of cut out. Insert the top of the bag to that side first, tucking the driver and fairway woods into that pocket and the base of the bag drops right in on the passengers side… straight across the back, not diagonal.

fatboi_mcfatface 2025-12-16 23:44

No android auto

Neffy27 2025-12-16 23:45

My only complaints about this car are 1. Rear view mirror doesn't auto adjust with seats/side mirrors 2. Only option are run flats vice fitting a spare in trunk 3. Head rests on rear seats do not come off or fold down

theOnlyDaive 2025-12-16 23:47

My only issue with this beautiful car is camping. Not the car's fault - I should have bought a Y for my purpose. I still camp in my 3, but it's a little cramped (I'm only 5'10"), but I think it would be a far better experience in a Y.

New-Additions 2025-12-16 23:47

The only problem I have is FSD, I just want to stay at a certain speed range. It does a terrible job trying to match the speed of cars around it and constantly goes under 60 a lot

nimmy283 2025-12-16 23:48

Agree rear window basically doesn’t defrost

IllustratorOne9331 2025-12-16 23:53

Uncomfortable seats compared to German cars of similar price range. Seats creak. Squeaks and rattles. Poor build quality. Technology is great though.

Todd6114 2025-12-16 23:54

Oh really? Ha well maybe I don’t have sausage fingers after all. The car just making me self conscious ;)

Conscious_Zebra_1808 2025-12-16 23:54

2026 M3RWD. I hit the wiper button all the time while turning.

Abject-Yak4457 2025-12-16 23:55

I find it annoying that there is no integrated garage door opener. Other than that it’s amazing

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-16 23:56

Very minor but rear camera gets dirty easy I have a 2021. I'm not sure if they fixed it or not. I like to use it instead of rear view mirror if you swipe up on the rear view screen it pulls up the 2 side cameras as well. I drive with those 3 cameras on always.

Where are you located? Do you ever get freezing rain or snow? I have a 2018 and every time it gets cold enough to freeze condensation, the windows stick in their door frames and the door handles get jammed to the point you have to beat on them to break it loose. Now presently, the door handles get stuck in the “open” position under regular use, causing the door not to latch when it shuts. One has to manually flip the handle back to the closed position in order for the door to latch as expected. The wing mirrors have similar problems where they fold in, get frozen, and fail to open completely. You then have to toggle them a few times. The “remember location” mechanism only applies to automatically folding the mirrors in at a location, but there isn’t an equivalent for “don’t fold at home” for example, so this means in the winter, I encounter this nonsense constantly. I call these California Problems because these designers clearly didn’t do a good job thinking through or experiencing problems involving moisture, especially freezing variety). Another good example: vision-based automatic wipers. There is a reason automatic wipers use percussion sensors in other cars where this feature works well. Vision? My wipers go frantically in sunny weather.

Counting-Tiles4567 2025-12-17 00:06

1) Auto climate control ONLY blows on your hands/face. Hate it. 2) auto wipers are hot garbage. 3) interior noise+rattles+creaks. 4) I hate the glass roof. When the warranty expires she's getting the hammer.

kftnyc 2025-12-17 00:06

No Waze. That is all.

SizeLegitimate9 2025-12-17 00:07

Can’t see the door handles in dark environment. Wiper goes automatic mode in autopilot or FSD.

midnight_to_midnight 2025-12-17 00:08

These are all for my 2019 Model 3 Wind noise The fact it's not a fastback/hatchback. No instrument cluster The fact that the 18" aero wheels won't clear the Performance's brakes The fact they're leaving older models behind in software updates (meaning there are less advancements for HW3 cars as opposed to HW4 vehicles) No black headliner Not much sound deadening Squeaks & rattles Edit - most of these were known to me going into, but I still find them annoying anyway. Lol

kftnyc 2025-12-17 00:08

Why wouldn’t you want to support Elon? He’s doing more to advance the human race than any man in history.

Weary_Face_7815 2025-12-17 00:09

Some random rattling sounds here and there. Whatever. Onscreen interface annoys me sometimes too. My commonly used apps aren’t always on the quick panel when I expect them to be and when you want to adjust the temperature it blocks the backup cam. So the missus and me often get in arguments because the driver is trying to backup with can but the passenger wants to neither enter a target address or change temp but both block the camera. Small things but annoying no less.

ReasonableFox7992 2025-12-17 00:10

This one isn’t really a daily annoyance, but be prepared for your door handles to be frozen shut in cold weather. Also if you’re looking at a 2025 at some point you will need to schedule service to have the inside of the windshield cleaned. I believe it has something to do with the plastic around the dash cam/front camera. I started getting the alert about it after 5 months.

[deleted] 2025-12-17 00:10

zero chanche i could ever drive another car and be more happy in it. Annoying is the squeaking when the windows move up and down when wet.

Firm_Ad3131 2025-12-17 00:16

If you don’t plan to charge at home, the amount of time spent charging is a PITA EV thing that gets annoying. Rather gas up once a week.

CousinEddysMotorHome 2025-12-17 00:20

It drives me to worrk at 430am. What else do you need to know?

Careless-Lobster-814 2025-12-17 00:25

Agree with all of these also add 7. The wireless phone charger is more a phone heater. My iPhone gets hot ass hell.

Cementhead70 2025-12-17 00:25

‘25 LR RWD Diamond Black owner. I agree with all the wiper comments. Everything else is great except for the paint. It chips so easily. I’d choose another color for sure. No rattles yet either and the frunk is a little small but I’m used to always using my wife’s Model Y frunk. I hardly use the 3’s and end up using the trunk instead. Buy one you’ll love it.

bshell99 2025-12-17 00:29

You WILL curb your wheel rims. Super annoying.

htdwps 2025-12-17 00:33

Getting used to the turn signals being touch buttons. Sometimes they don’t respond other times I forget which is left vs right.

Todd6114 2025-12-17 00:36

Lol IF you put them side by side and not on top of each other. Ohh or you mean a glove as in singular? 😂

Vegetable-Hold9182 2025-12-17 00:40

1) going to your car to grab something but forgot your phone 🤦‍♂️ 2) squeaky window when you roll it down 🤦‍♂️ Main ones for me

NewDayNewBurner 2025-12-17 00:46

I dislike the small-ish trunk opening.

hobz462 2025-12-17 00:50

I can’t actually see anything through the rear view window, so have to rely on the camera. I struggle to fit my bike in the boot with the seats folded down.

Additional-Ad-2173 2025-12-17 00:51

Nothing is annoying. Love my Model 3 Highland!!!

Famous-Weight2271 2025-12-17 00:57

The cup holders are pretty lame. They hold a soda way too tight, and good luck getting anything else in there. There are no convenient USB ports. Grok now does navigation with the latest update, but still can't control the rest of the car. You can't click on the map and say drive here. I tried that the other day because I know where my friend lives but I actually don't know their address. When you're on autopilot, you can't influence it to make it turn with the blinker system. I don't get this. I hit autopilot coming out of my driveway, and the car always wants to turn left leaving the neighborhood, even though I want it to go right. Speaking of, seems like I fumble with turning the blinkers off. Mine has the blinker buttons on the steering wheel. No stalk. I can't figure out how to get car wash mode into the free Wheels mode. I have to hit the neutral button up top. And when the car is done with a car wash, I always fumble getting it into drive. It's weird, like it goes drive back to park, but the third time is the charm. Some settings are hard to find. I have to ask AI to tell me where to find them, and half the time the AI is wrong in the sense that it's given me out-of-date information. I work in a small building in town, and I park in the back, wear an alley is. I can't get the car to go there, let alone. Remember that's where I park every single dang day. These aren't in any order, but one of my biggest complaints is actually just with Tesla navigation. It's pretty bad, in ways that I don't think Google would ever mess up. For instance, on my way home from the local strip mall where I literally do all my grocery shopping and everything else, home to me is straight through a couple of stop lights. However, the car wants to navigate a left turn and go about a mile out of the way. This means I can't use FSD. My wife has Spotify and I have YouTube music. The car doesn't do the best switching between us. When she's in the car I feel like we should be able to use her Spotify account through her phone. But we have to keep switching back. Since we alternate who's using the car, it's almost like a guarantee that the first thing you have to do is launch the music service. The car will be dumb enough that if you just ask it to play music, it'll say something like" I can't connect to Spotify".

mother_fkn_crackk 2025-12-17 00:57

Auto wipers are completely inaccurate. Also don’t have your windows down when you have the windshield wipers on because all the water will come swishing in the car. Paint chips easily.

fiddlerwoaroof 2025-12-17 01:01

Yeah, I’ve never had issues with auto wipers unless the glass in front of the camera was dirty

Temporary_Feeling_54 2025-12-17 01:04

- Windshield vapors up while you’re charging your car at a supercharger (weirdly doesn’t happen when I charge overnight at the garage I park in) - As others said, the automatic wipers - since I live in an apartment, getting the SOTA updates are a pain. A select few superchargers and Whole Foods outlets do the job when it comes to downloading - The sheer amount of charge Sentry mode consumes

tbogaert 2025-12-17 01:04

No daily annoyances

ConstipatedGibbon 2025-12-17 01:09

One of my biggest gripes is the window wipers. When set to auto, they will just randomly go off when the window is not wet at all. It can be a perfectly sunny clear day and im just driving along and the fucking window wipers start screeching against the dry windscreen. Another major annoyance is that if any water gets on the windscreen and moves off to the side (i.e. window washers), it will immediately start dripping onto the armrest inside the car if you don't have the window fully closed. Most cars have little plastic lips over the tops of the doors that prevent any water running off the roof or side of the windscreen from immediately entering the car. Also, the doors. Why the hell they decided to make these confusing door handles such that you have to teach every single person who hasn't got into a tesla before how to open just seems so stupid and unnecessary to me. I also still hate the fact that the indicators are buttons on the steering wheel, making it almost impossible to quickly indicate if you are at a roundabout or sharp turn or something where the steering wheel is already turned over.

Greg19931 2025-12-17 01:11

I have the exact car you've mentioned for about a week and a half now. Only annoyances for me ATM are: - sentry mode being a huge battery drain but also want to have my car protected - not being able to set times for when sentry mode is on or off (you can with third party apps but those cost money) - lower range when it's cold. Have about 435km of range on a full charge, around 5 to 10c here. Was hoping to consistently get around 500km. Which should be the case when it gets warmer here. All in all, no regrets and I'll be driving this thing for at least 8 years, preferably longer since they keep adding new features.

beansruns 2025-12-17 01:15

Daily annoyances? None I once had a situation where I couldn’t drive on a trip because of the lack of charging, that was annoying. Beyond that, my issues were with it just being a sedan. I needed something bigger and more practical, so I sold it

Muffstic 2025-12-17 01:18

My phone is connected over Bluetooth as shown in the menu, but I still need to use my card to drive once in awhile. My phone is connected over Bluetooth as shown in the menu and the phone log. Trying to text someone or look at contacts and it says connect your phone to see contacts.

Kristosh 2025-12-17 01:19

wdym? This is how every single frameless door has worked on almost every car for the past 30+ years. This is not unique to Tesla. By removing the door frame, engineers can build a beefier, stronger fixed frame (like the B-pillar) for better side-impact and rollover protection without sacrificing interior space. They can also be easier and more flexible to manufacture and fit on the assembly line.

ScaredWrench 2025-12-17 01:23

Before I got my Tesla, I read a lot about this, and expected the worst. After driving it in rain, snow, clear days etc, I must say its not nearly as bad as expected. Some times I might have to push the button to give an extra wipe, and it has the occasional dry wipe, but its not much worse than other brands I have driven.

ScaredWrench 2025-12-17 01:27

Its a bingo game

somethingClever246 2025-12-17 01:35

Only thing that bugs me is the adaptive high beams, also resting my hands on the steering wheel in certain spots causes a message to pop up

Tomnw62 2025-12-17 01:37

Are you talking about Uranus?

altro16 2025-12-17 01:39

The Christmas update lets you turn off the wireless charger

Pale_Candidate_390 2025-12-17 01:39

The wipers sometimes just turn on when I don’t want them to. High beams when your in autopilot My heat is no longer working properly. If I set it to highest heat setting it works but anything below that blows cold air . Only solution is to change it to auto mode. Ever since I got an iPhone 17 my Bluetooth is randomly disconnecting And the latest one I refresh the app and turn on my heat and it didn’t actually turn on

Bumbalard 2025-12-17 01:43

I can do that 20x sometimes and it still won't stop signaling.

The pockets being unable to hold something like a small umbrella is so annoying

ZealousidealExam640 2025-12-17 01:43

Re: golf clubs. I just put one rear seat down, although I can fit them diagonally in trunk too. Re: wipers. I drove several times today with FSD 14.2.1.25. Salt on windshield. A few times spray. Wipers didn’t auto come on once. Not having a front bumper camera (2024). Should have been made with a frunk that auto opens and closes like the trunk. Basic Autopilot not stopping at red lights and stop signs when no other vehicles are ahead of me. Glove compartment is too small, although plenty of storage in center consoles. FSD - blinkers come on too early and too often. Annoying in traffic circles. It’s annoying trying to convince people it’s the greatest car ever when they are ICE owners and have never driven a Tesla. It’s annoying never having to spend $50 for a tank of gas every week. Lol. Finally, it’s annoying to have to get out of the car and have to stop driving it. It’s so much fun.

ZealousidealExam640 2025-12-17 01:45

Use FSD and never need to touch it.

engwish 2025-12-17 01:47

The golf bag issue is slightly annoying, but you can't fight physics. However, you have two options: 1. Since the rear foot area is completely flat, you can lay a golf bag there. 2. You can remove the woods out of your bag and then you are able to lay a bag completely straight in the trunk. You can then just lay the woods on top. You can easily fit 4 bags this way. As for things that annoy me in my M3 Highland, I don't have major issues at all. Here are some minor things: * No grab handles. I really don't understand why Tesla doesn't add these to any of their vehicles. * The wireless chargers are nice to have, but they're slow. * Rear leg room isn't the greatest. I'm 5' 11" and whoever is behind me is going to have a tough time. * Door handles — no matter what, people seem to easily find the manual release and pull that every time. * No sunroof cover. I get you can buy third party stuff, but I have yet to find anything I really liked and there are days when I just don't want a sunroof. * Manual hood release for the frunk. I've been using Teslas for years and while I know how to properly open the frunk, I tend to just not use it because I don't want to bother with the manual door. First world problems, I know. * Perforated seats in the rear row are useless and just end up getting debris stuck in them. * Auto wipers are so finicky. I find that the "steam" from gas cars on cold days can trigger the auto wipers nearly every damn time when using FSD. * I have a Long Range RWD which has the "base" stereo. It isn't bad, but my MY has the premium stereo so I know what it could be. * Lack of V2H or outlets. You do get some decent USB-C outlets, but we know that Tesla can do this yet doesn't bother. * Not really something that bothers me, but be aware that while Tesla's software is really good compared to other automakers, they are very opinionated with some of their decisions. If you aren't onboard with that, you might get frustrated.

5acrefarmer 2025-12-17 01:49

A slightly different take for me. I drive a Model 3 for my daily commute to work, and had the occasion to switch back to the Toyota Landcruiser we own. I couldn’t believe how fiddly that was to drive and how used I’d become to the conveniences of driving the Tesla. Eg I kept on forgetting to turn the Land Cruiser off! (Not to mention locking/unlocking doors. The one annoyance for the Tesla is pretty specific. We need to open our gate - the passenger gets out, opens it, I drive through, they close it and get back in / but it automatically locks the doors once I drive through - having to remember to unlock the doors again is an annoyance - I mean I’m sure I could go through the settings and change it - but…

Fluffy-The-Panda 2025-12-17 01:52

Also wiper fluid anywhere except where I want it to go :(

Oo_Juice_oO 2025-12-17 01:52

I think the stock side view mirrors are too small and the B-pillar is too wide, which makes checking the driver side blind spot a little awkward. Especially if FSD wants to change lanes and you want to confirm that the blind spot is clear before it does, by the time I crank my neck over to look, FSD is already halfway over the line. So I bought wide angle side mirrors and it shrinks the blind spot down to half a door panel over my left shoulder. Now when FSD changes lanes I can quickly glance at the mirror to double check that it actually is clear.

7ipofmytongue 2025-12-17 01:59

I have a bunch small ones, but my big 2 is: Doors. Hard to use, and having to teach people how to use the doors every time someone new to the car Navigation: No way points so if you do not like the drive route it is hard to change the route. May not be issue for you: Also I wish I can get large font, my vision is not as good as it used to be.

Enjoy_The_Ride413 2025-12-17 02:01

Talk dirty to me!

Oo_Juice_oO 2025-12-17 02:03

The door handles require two motions... 1. Thumb push. 2. Fingers pull. Normally not an issue. That is until you're leaving Costco, successfully NOT buying a cart full of things, and you only have 2 hands full of things, but no free thumb to push the handle. Those are the times that I miss the regular car door handles, where you only need to pull with your fingers. I'm considering auto-presenting door handles because of this.

ckmonster 2025-12-17 02:14

It’s quite dark at night where I live and I can’t see the door handles on my vehicle most nights. I poke at my door until I get lucky and it pops open

callousparade 2025-12-17 02:15

The door handles are the only real annoyance for me. It's not really a big deal, but having to tell passengers how to get into your car is always a weird first impression conversation. Generally speaking it's as "drive it and forget it" as you can get in a vehicle with nearly no maintenance, no trips to wawa, not even keys to accidentally leave in the house. But definitely don't get the standard rwd highland.

Furiousaf 2025-12-17 02:16

The annoyances I have are things I didn't buy the car for. Everyone always asks me about how the FSD is. I live in SC, have a 30ish minute commute to work. Potholes/messed up roads are all over. I know where to position myself in the lane to avoid what's there. FSD will ride in the center of the lane and hit every single one them. I like driving, so I'm not nor did I plan using it. Did do well on a 300 mile vacation when I did use it though. The cruise control is god awful. Ive had issues of it randomly stopping hard in certain situations where people pull out into the opposite lane. Auto wipers are terrible. Have my car scheduled to defrost/warm up in the morning. Ive had to scrape my headlights every morning due to them icing up. Overall, my 22 M3p is a great car, Have had no major issues in the time that I have had it. Looking to upgrade to a plaid soon.

Desperate-Review-727 2025-12-17 02:17

Is there a known fix for the dash rattle? Mine only happens sometimes, and I have to smack my dash pretty hard to get it to stop lol.

MysteriousSandwich45 2025-12-17 02:18

Auto wipers come on automatically on cruise control, I just cancel them everytime I start a journey, other than that I find very little to gripe about and much to appreciate.

Weird so many wiper complaints I've been very happy with mine, I totally leave it alone. 2023 RWD 8/23 build HW3

money_scg_22 2025-12-17 02:26

Have 2022 m3 performance. The air conditioning takes a few seconds to really ramp up the fan speed. Sucks when it’s really warm. I wish mine had seat coolers in addition to seat warmers.

e36drver510 2025-12-17 02:28

Why does nobody bring up the fact that it is very difficult and awkward to reach your hand into the middle console? The one near the dash is great but the other one is so badly designed and I thought they would have fixed it for the new line of cars

Itsjarod_ 2025-12-17 02:29

No sunglass holder and no grab handles

Ariarikta_sb7 2025-12-17 02:31

I drive M3 LR RWD and I love it from all the aspects. Got Tow package installed. Sometimes the hitch scratches on extreme uneven surfaces such as entering/exiting driveways with bumps. But this does not harm the body. Rest everything is amazing. Enjoying my ride.

Financial_Table_1848 2025-12-17 02:31

Just chiming in on the golf bag thing.. several friends have the model 3 pre 2024 and that was a big deal, they had to fold down a rear seat. That was a big deal for me too golfing regularly during the summer. I was very happy to test out the new “highland” M3 design in 2024 and found out my golf bag fit snugly, but comfortably diagonally in the larger trunk space. And yes- I’m that guy that went to a Tesla dealership with 3 kids, two car seats, and my golf bag to see all they all would fit lol.

Giorgist 2025-12-17 02:33

Drop the seats and you could probably fit three golf bags but the third person will have to make his own way to the golf club.

Sufficient-Ad9979 2025-12-17 02:34

The radio/ Sirius. I hate that I cannot set a favorite button and consistently get that station everytime. It moves with whatever I’ve listened too. Super trivial though.

What if we are no American. What if Elon has an opinion about the existence of the EU, what if he was instrumental in the election of Trump. Irrespective of what you think of Trump, he may have had a definitive influence of the outcome of elections. Why bother voting if that is the case. Of all the hypotheticals above ... I have an opinion if they have happened which shapes my opinion on Elon. I love my M3 and am planning on going for the MY.

drivingaddictionchan 2025-12-17 02:54

losing range when the car is parked is a bit annoying

dchizzlefoshizzle 2025-12-17 02:54

I have only minor grievances 1. The auto wipers have become such a meme but it honestly is extremely annoying if you live in an area that has 4 seasons and rains. Doesn't help its a button to access them and not a stalk. 2. My auto high beams never worked either. It's always on for the highway but dimly lit streets/areas the opposite. 3. Controversial on Reddit, but the Blinker buttons on my 2024 M3. I did the retro install of the stalks, imo a much safer and ergonomic option. Not sure if they did that standard in the 2025. 4. I think the ride is still too hard compared to my old 2013 Accord. 5. Its very low to the ground. If you have joint issues or are tall it can be tough. My mom has a hard time getting in.

gotohellfellas 2025-12-17 03:00

Be careful while using FSD especially in the rains at night . Steered me onto oncoming traffic a couple of times. Also FSD seems to disengage at the worst possible minute leaving you with very little reaction time. This is true at speeds excess of 100 mph.

djwhite077 2025-12-17 03:03

If you live in a hot climate and the car is not touched in more than 12 hours, overheat protection-an otherwise GREAT feature-will not come on again unless you open a door or the car moves or you manually turn the a/c on. I try to never be in this position, but I've seen the inside cabin temperature on mine as high as 170 F when the outside ambient temperature was only in the upper 80's, lower 90's. Inside temperatures that high are terribly hard on all inside components--from the electronics to the upholstery. Tesla could easily fix this if they wanted to and enough people complained about it.

canine06 2025-12-17 03:21

Til this day my biggest annoyance is other drivers. Although I drive in the right lane and mind my business there's always some asshole with an agenda fucking with me because of the car I drive. 🙄 The car itself is solid imo. The 3 seems to have less issues than other models. I'm going on 3.5 years with mine, no major issues, and absolutely love it.

connly33 2025-12-17 03:25

Here’s some . Keep in mind most of them are stupid and don’t matter with one exception or two. -Auto wipers still suck, there is absolute no excuse to not have a rain sensor like a European vehicle would with auto wipers. I’d much rather have a dial to control wiper speed. Cameras do not work well for rain accumulation detection. -thin paint means easy rock chips. On to less important ones: - auto lock is sometimes too sensitive when walking away. I close my driver door, plug my car in, then open the back door to grab my lunch bag, the door locks when I grab my charger cord don’t puts extra wear on the auto folding mirrors unnecessarily when I come home from work. I could change the order of my routine though 🤷‍♂️ - I actively avoid ice vehicles and less automated EVs. Cars that must be shut off with a button or key feel like a major annoyance now. All EVs should use passive entry / brake confirm to start and door close with no weight in the driver seat to shut off. Driving a Kia EV bugs the crap out of me because I get out lock the door and it beeps at me angrily to get back in and turn the car off. - occasionally cleaning cameras is annoying but I also hate washing cars so 🤷‍♂️ I do it anyway because I like having a clean car and care enough about the paint to not run it through an auto car wash. - I no longer can relate to coworkers and family members about gas prices. And on the same note if I want to grab something from a convenience store now I have to go out of my way instead of doing it while I get gas. - I’m a spoiled princess because my car is warm and comfortable when I get into it in the morning and after work because I schedule cabin preconditioning. There are certainly little annoyances while you get use to it especially if your new to EVs when it comes to charging, charging station etiquette, people commenting about your car and asking you stupid questions etc but I’ve never drive another car that’s a better daily driver.

Oo_Juice_oO 2025-12-17 03:25

Sometimes after a long drive, I like to reach over the read end of my Tesla and use my middle finger to rub that little nub. The car loves it when I do that! ... to clean the rear view camera.

Jaded-Rock-3125 2025-12-17 03:28

I have a 2018 m3 and have no issues with golf bags at all. Maybe this is different with other models/years, but mine has inside pocket on the left that I can fit one golf bag horizontally at the end of the trunk. I also have a huge bottle of wiper fluid in that space so I think even the longest drivers/shafts can fit comfortably in there. Putting in and taking out are easy too. Phone/cup holder can be annoying, I’ve tried four different phone holders and finally got a MagSafe one that works great. And I’ve been using the cup holder wo an insert and it’s annoying to clean up in case of spilling incidents

JxK_1 2025-12-17 03:30

My easy entry NEVER goes back to normal driving position when I get in and put it into drive. And yes I did a seat calibration

My easy entry NEVER goes back to normal driving position when I get in and put it into drive. And yes I did a seat calibration

FerN_RSA 2025-12-17 03:37

The Tesla boot (trunk) is larger than most sedans so the golf bag is probably coming from a suv or ute. 1. Indicator stalks although I heard they might be coming back. I live in a place with many roundabouts and this is probably my biggest gripe. 2. Auto wipers randomly comes on 3. Navigation updates are only twice a year in a place where google maps already normally struggle to keep up. 4. Opening the glove compartment is too cumbersome. 5. Seating and steering wheel feels less premium than for a car of this price range Saying all of these things though, I still think this is a better driving experience than my 330i I had just before this.

No-Wallaby-8218 2025-12-17 03:42

We love our Mach E GT. The handling and comfort driving beat the M3. The navigation, efficiency and range estimates are better in the M3.

Mexkan 2025-12-17 03:52

I actually think the trunk is pretty big for a sedan.

lylethelion 2025-12-17 04:01

Most people don’t close the door hard enough so I always gotta tell them to shut it harder. When I’m backing out of my garage I usually get my seatbelt on while I’m backing up, but if I shift my weight the wrong way it slams on the emergency brake and throws it into park. Hate that.

[deleted] 2025-12-17 04:10

Per my charging passport it runs me $27.88 a month on home charging . Love my car

gentlehurricane 2025-12-17 04:22

I love telling people I paid $15.5K for mine :)

Dull_Support_4919 2025-12-17 04:22

22 M3P. 41k miles. - Creaks and rattles are annoying as hell and it seems that these cars get them absolutely randomly. Its like every change frequency from road textures or bumps causes a new rattle somewhere else. Im pissed about it having bought it second hand for half the price. Id be REALLY pissed about it if I bought it at full sticker price. Its currently at the shop getting rattles addressed. - Battery degredation. Ran a battery health test a couple weeks ago. It showed 84%. 84% on a 3 year old car. I remember tesla releasing a study saying that the average model 3/y had 12% degredation after like 200k miles. I would love to have 12%. Then I see the newer models getting 370+ miles of real world highway range and it kinda sucks knowing my car can barely do 250 on a good day. Around 200 in the winter if im lucky. And my job requires me to travel often so it does make a big difference for me. And those range numbers are after switching to 18 inch wheels and 225 width tires. -the door handles. Stupid as hell. We had flush mechanical door handles in the 90s. Why the hell do we need these? It would have likely been cheaper just to add an extra kw to the battery to offset effeciency losses. - the frame less windows. Wind noise is already a major noise factor in these cars. This just makes it worse and is directly responsible for atleast 1 of my rattles. - insurance. Finding good affordable insurance is so fucking hard. I quoted out a new mustang gt with a performance pack. It was 3 times less than my model 3. And often it completely offsets the savings from not buying gas. Which supposed to be a huge bonus of driving electric.

IllustriousPart3803 2025-12-17 04:27

TIL! Thank you. Edited to add: it works! Why didn't I know this?

No-Preparation5211 2025-12-17 04:41

The auto wipers are absolute trash. And I am so sick of the dry wipe every time I turn on FSD. It inevitably streaks my windshield.

Dense-Sail1008 2025-12-17 04:41

I have a full size golf bag and have not had to put my clubs in diagonally. It has to be at the back side so the long woods fit in the left cutout, but they fit fine. Annoyances hmmm… it is annoying that it doesn’t seem possible to get the range that the guessometer predicts. I have a 16 mile commute to work. When I arrive at work (summer temps, dry roads) it will say that I had an efficiency of 205 wh/mi which is awesome. But my range has dropped 20 miles in a 16 mile drive. I would think that I could easily achieve the rated range with that kind of efficiency. Just seems like they are cheating somewhere, to publish numbers they want. This doesn’t really cause me any problems. I have no issues with range anxiety…just feels dishonest.

gentlehurricane 2025-12-17 04:47

I’ve noticed that when a new group chat message comes in responding through the car sends the reply only to the person who last texted the group chat, not the group chat itself.

DifferenceStatus2983 2025-12-17 04:50

I bought a velcro sunglass holder that sticks to the carpetted side of the center console area near your knees, works great!

einsteinsviolin 2025-12-17 04:53

I daily drive a 2018 Model 3 and am original owner, so everything I say I hope they have improved, but I would say I hate these things: range estimator is always 10-30% overestimated error off and charging destination changes over highway time, the plastic creaks due to temperature and vibrations more often than you would think but not terrible, when it rains water can fall into your trunk if enough collects above the truck area, FSD is still supervised, supercharging destinations have gotten way more expensive, not a specific model 3 issue but watch out for the service bulletins on your car because Tesla won’t notify you about parts to replace for free while you can get them for free, cabin noise can always be better, interior is prone to scratches easily. Parts that have failed in mine include a PCS board in 7 years for $2.6k, upper controls arms on the front shocks at $100 each, and in areas with lots of pollen the ac filter has to be changed once a year instead of every 2 years. Best vehicle I’ve owned, but continuous improvements are there. Hoping they honor hw4 upgrades too.

ChampionshipAgile263 2025-12-17 04:56

Auto wipers are weird, some odd routes on driving, but admittedly some of my routes are ingrained. Handles, not ideal. Got over the lack of turn signal stock after 8 months. Can get a full size golf bag and clicgear cart in trunk no problem ( and a second bag). Frunk should open automatically. Overall big learning curve but , love it

seltzerslut69 2025-12-17 05:01

The biggest annoyance is that Tesla Vision (camera based) is worse than any standard car on the market that has basic proximity sensors. Cameras are getting better, but still not 100% reliable.

kirawin 2025-12-17 05:07

Frunk looks to be big enough to transport take out/fast food so your car doesn’t smell

sc0ttyman 2025-12-17 05:08

The door handles? Naw. It’s just an ask and show them how. Wipers hell yeah. It seems to fix and go bad every other release.

Plenty-Permission182 2025-12-17 05:08

I have a 2021 M3 LR. It's fast, very fast but I personally feel that it has no soul. Feels very robotic overall and the steering feels very digital. As someone else pointed out, the door handles are a nuisance, and the rear seats are not as comfortable in my personal opinion, recline angle is not great. No manual latch on the glovebox, no grab handles anywhere is crap too.

itkilledthekat 2025-12-17 05:09

The Model 3 has one of the large trunk space for a compact sedan. If your golf bag won't fit it like won't fit in any of the compacts.

european_web 2025-12-17 05:13

Model 3 is a great car lots of room for a car of its size. Autopilot tacc and wipers are the big disappointments. Cost savings like no rubbers seals in outer door sills and seals to control water flow from windshield are other factors

mjohnsimon 2025-12-17 05:20

It rattles. A lot.

Working-Active 2025-12-17 05:28

I've had my Model 3 for 6 years and the only real complaint is that some parking garages can be very steep inside the city of Barcelona and I've heard it scrape the plastic bottom a few times with a very unpleasant sound. Air shocks like the Model S has that would allow you to raise the car would be great for these situations.

DrBob01 2025-12-17 05:29

The car sits very low. It can be a challenge to get in and out. My wife and I are older. I loved the Model 3, but I needed something better suited for us and I traded it in on a Y.

hmills619 2025-12-17 05:40

My biggest compaint is how low it is.

hmills619 2025-12-17 05:41

Yes! It's such a weird thing. Literally had this conversation with a group of acquaintances making comments that I must be rich.

Darshadow6 2025-12-17 05:50

Weak paint i recommend at least doing half the front in ppf the day you get it. Telling people constantly not to use the emergency door handles. Also I have homelink and some garage doors it just wont open which is annoying. Also barely use the trunk since it requires opening it via the app or car sometimes wish there was a button. Otherwise absolutely love my m3 rwd. I hate driving anything else now lol

Darshadow6 2025-12-17 05:51

Why not just set a departure time so it melts the snow before you get in?

Darshadow6 2025-12-17 05:55

Why didn't you take it in? All my rattles were fixed and its basically silent now. Also tires make a big difference. Mines also a late 2023

Darshadow6 2025-12-17 05:57

Apartment hunting sucks with an ev. Always try to find something with a cheap garage to use 110 and occasionally have to use a supercharger

AWildDragon 2025-12-17 06:05

I have a wide mouth hydroflask. If I have a boot on it won’t fit in the cup holder. Without the boot it’s just fine.

tekstical 2025-12-17 06:13

2023.model y and the cup holders are absolute garbage. Zero thought put into something so easy.

lisatheshrimp 2025-12-17 06:29

There are no grab bars. It’s weird. Trying to find the exterior handles in the dark. When moving into a turning lane sometimes the indicator stays on until you make the turn from the turning lane and sometimes it does not. Autopilot takes way too long to get back up to speed when you’ve slowed because of the car in front but someone is passing you and you have to wait to change lanes. As others have stated, the auto wipers are ridiculous.

akeniscool 2025-12-17 06:29

'22 Performance. I use traffic-aware cruise control constantly (*not* autopilot). It has a bad habit of suddenly changing the cruise speed because it thinks I'm on a different road. Happens most often in the far right lane of the freeway, when it thinks I'm exiting or on a frontage road or something. I also get "Curvature Assist" warnings that do the same thing randomly, most often on straight roads. 🤷🏼‍♂️ That's the only thing that makes me suddenly question why I own this car. Everything else is either a minor tradeoff (the auto wipers are indeed ridiculous still but I can live with that) or something I knew wasn't gonna be perfect from the beginning (the cheap minimalist interior is underwhelming).

electriclandscape 2025-12-17 06:34

Traffic aware cruise control phantom braking!

NurseLoca 2025-12-17 06:36

The heat/ac automatically turning on when you click to open up the ac/heat settings to turn on the heated seats. The interior lights sucks ass. I always have to use my phone flashlight. Probably other but I can’t think of any at the moment. GPS sucks bad.

NurseLoca 2025-12-17 06:37

Battery not lasting as long as it says it does..

Leej-xxx 2025-12-17 07:17

If the golf clubs thing is a deal breaker by a mode Y you can fit a driving range in that boot.

C0lDsp4c3 2025-12-17 07:22

Regarding the first one, I've been to the service center twice, at first what they did didn't fix it, second visit, returned on the same day, left the car overnight, they managed to fix it, they tightened all the screws they could find and checked everything that seemed slightly loose and since then it hasn't happened

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 07:36

So does this mean when you get in the car, it automatically turns the shuffle option off on Apple Music?

Busy_Art_829 2025-12-17 07:39

The only thing I hate in Tesla is auto wipers switching on when autopilot is enabled that's it.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 07:39

Great write up, thanks!

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 07:48

That’s great to hear! Do you ever try to put 2 bags in the trunk? My Fiancé plays with me very often but her bag is a bit smaller

choicemeats 2025-12-17 07:56

I started keeping a rag in my last car bc for whatever reason my car and not the others in my lot collects dew (maybe it’s the spot idk) but would take a while to clear so I’d wipe everything down so I’ve taken this habit to the Tesla lol. Usually preheat eill take care of the rest

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 07:58

I live in Michigan so this is definitely a possible issue!

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 08:00

Can you expand on the auto climate control issue? I tend to have dry eyes so I NEVER have vents pointed at my face… if that is the only way to set climate to “Auto” then I would be very upset

choicemeats 2025-12-17 08:01

It’s crazy that I’m leasing for the same amount monthly as the mazda3 I gave up. But yeah I guess the perception was that the cars were 60-70k+? Up to 135k? Or maybe they think everything is the model s? A model3 standard is pretty close to a Honda accord. But no one would say “that dude is driving a Honda accord sport he must have money”

choicemeats 2025-12-17 08:04

The pockets thing is so funny to me bc I’ve never used the pockets in my cars. Then again I don’t have kids

ClumpOfCheese 2025-12-17 08:06

Navigation routes have been awful. For some reason it refuses to show me my preferred route I always take. Now it shows me three or four other routes and there isn’t usually anything wrong with my preferred route and they are usually the same time. Now I always have to doublecheck with Apple Maps, which just added the preferred route. Tesla needs to make some route options for FSD. Let me just draw a line for a route I want.

Cordies 2025-12-17 08:17

It does for me.

PrimeXtime11 2025-12-17 08:31

I can't sleep on my commute to work 😭

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 08:34

Great stuff, thanks for writing this out

anonhoneybadger 2025-12-17 08:37

2024 Model 3 Performance. When playing music, even with bass and sub turned way down, the rear shelf rattles at certain frequencies. Been there since I took delivery. Drives me crazy. Tesla service has been unable to fix it. Also have a friend with the exact same issue.

yungcaligrower 2025-12-17 08:46

For the golf bag thing, I have a 2021 model 3 SR+ and my bag fits horizontally in the driver heads put in the little compartment cutout? And if I bring 2 I fold a seat down and could fit 2 more bags

AdonaiGarm 2025-12-17 08:49

Well that's because they removed the separate rain sensors that it used to have most cars have now. It used to work like any other car and better than the one tied to Tesla Vision.

word-dragon 2025-12-17 08:51

In fairness, you can start the car defrosting with your phone. So unless you have an unplanned exit on an icy day, the windows should be OK when you get into the car.

melvladimir 2025-12-17 08:56

Other drivers

word-dragon 2025-12-17 09:00

I generally defrost in advance, and that generally handles most icy problems. Not always the door handles. They improved this with the black handles - the instructions for the silver handles are basically to bash them and hope it doesn’t break the car, but the black handles can be reverse pulled a little which so far, seems to break the ice.

gkanai 2025-12-17 09:01

The floormats suck, especially drivers.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 09:08

I like the way you think!

SummerInPhilly 2025-12-17 09:30

His work with DOGE has been a waste of money at best and catastrophic to certain government functions at worst

word-dragon 2025-12-17 09:38

I’m on my second M3, so obviously no deal breakers. If you’d asked me when I got my first M3, it would have been a long (and somewhat petty) list. The cool thing, though, is that they fixed most of those with over-the-air updates by the time I got rid of it. So by 2023, my 2020 was more or less a more used version of the 2023. (I was going to note that leaving your phone in the car was an annoying problem because it left the car unlocked with the key in it, but reading the release notes on tonight’s update, they added a warning when you leave the phone in the unattended car.) Agree with comments here on the auto-wipers. The door handle thing is a bit petty. It does baffle adults seeing it for the first time, but I can certify that a three year old can learn to do it in about 2 minutes. The amazing thing is how much you will realize you put up with daily in whatever ICE machine you are driving now that you didn’t even realize were annoying. Carrying key fobs, having to press buttons to lock and unlock, start and turn off your car. Cars that don’t preheat (or if they do, fill your garage with poison gas). Features that never change because you have to buy next years model to get them. Windows that stay open when the car locks. No dog mode to keep your groceries cool while you are in your next stop. Not being able to press “start self driving” in your driveway and having it head to the next stop on your calendar. Going to gas stations. Doing the whole dealer dance when you buy the car. Oil changes… It’s a very long list. I like the M3, but if your golf clubs don’t fit, get an MY or give up golf. Ditch the Beamer or whatever. You won’t regret it. And if you’re the kind of person that just enjoys griping, there’s always Reddit!

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-17 10:14

Great write up, thank you!

rriicckk 2025-12-17 10:30

My 2001 Audi TT had this - not an issue at all.

rriicckk 2025-12-17 10:33

I have my seat up quite high for entry and exit while my driving position is lower.

word-dragon 2025-12-17 10:40

Did I mention car wash mode? Lol

NorrinRSS 2025-12-17 11:11

When exiting the vehicle or driver side it's difficult to push the door all the way open so it stays open instead of always bouncing back. It requires just the right amount of force and that is annoying...

garretts228 2025-12-17 11:15

The fit and finish could use some work. The fit: Car is very quiet so the economy sedan interior build quality is very prominent when things start rattling. The finish: Interior holds up very well. Have a 2019 with 120,000 miles and the interior still looks great. Auto wipers are the worst implementation to ever exist. At the end of it all, I couldn’t imagine daily driving any other vehicle. I love both of our Teslas.

JaniceRossi_in_2R 2025-12-17 11:29

Not being able to drive it every minute of everyday due to responsibilities like feeding my kids and such

JaniceRossi_in_2R 2025-12-17 11:34

Or a case and put it in the arm rest

[deleted] 2025-12-17 11:43

Hmmm annoyances with my Model 3: -The car is too fast -The nav display is too good -The audio system is mind blowing -FSD makes driving boring -The app integration will make all other cars seems like they’re from the Stone Age In all honesty though my only complaint with my car is the auto wipers. 😅

Forsaken_Treacle_407 2025-12-17 12:17

I hate that sometimes when I drive my wife’s car I forget that I have to shut it off by pressing a button. Then I get out and walk away and I forget that I have to lock it. I have left her car running and unlocked multiple times. I also hate that her car is not the perfect when I get into it after running errands. The damn thing doesn’t drive itself either. Her car is a Chevy. I love my Tesla and miss it after trips when I’m driving a rental as well. I don’t understand why people say that Tesla’s are not luxury vehicles.

herr_akkar 2025-12-17 12:23

My daily annoyances: 1. Damned *PING*! every time I activate or deactivate cruise control. 2. USB player not remembering what was playing or autoresuming 3. Auto wipers not as good as on other cars

Weak_Moment6408 2025-12-17 12:33

I don’t have a lot of annoyances. The back seats are not comfortable. And like the other person said, have to teach everyone how to use the doors. Also range sucks when it is below 0f, I would have thought preconditioning the battery would fix that problem, it doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I’d buy it all over again. Actually I plan to buy a used model s in the next couple of years to replace one of my other cars.

Anything_Normal 2025-12-17 12:52

The wipers coming on whenever they feel like it. basic function of cruise control not working on direct sunlight or adverse conditions. That’s about it. Wipers and cruise control are abysmal on this rig. Oh and the fact that cooled seats aren’t standard on a 60k car new in’23 is shocking to me

SmokeySFW 2025-12-17 12:56

I kind of like it for the extra grip, personally, but I can see how it could annoy other people. It's very pronounced stitching for sure.

KosherMitch 2025-12-17 13:02

Lots of good ones on this list, all true. I’ll add one I haven’t seen yet: Auto turn signals - love them but annoying on traffic circles and switching into left or right turning lanes does not always stay on and you have to reengage. When in manual, the “click” is not like any other car I’ve driven so it annoys me.

Syzygy_Blast 2025-12-17 13:04

This

Maj0r_Sarcasm 2025-12-17 13:06

I've found by setting the seat slightly further forward than I'd like, the next time the seat moves from easy access to my programed position, it's bang on and stays that way for a while.

Counting-Tiles4567 2025-12-17 13:14

I truly hope to learn something here and admit sometimes I'm a dummy, but to my knowledge there is NO WAY TO ADJUST WHICH VENT is used when in auto. Truly stupid. You CAN adjust them in manual, but in Auto mode you can only swizzle the vent (adjust left/right/pitch)--it still blows towards your face/hands no matter what. In manual mode you can have it blow at your feet or at the windshield or at your face or combos thereof. I just drive around with the fan on low all the time. These cars fog the windshield like a mofo, too, so you NEED CC.

Aggressive_Review142 2025-12-17 13:20

Phantom breaking when auto pilot is on , hatchback for boot space would be nice for daily use. Doors only occasionally when it’s frosty, you can heat up the cabin and steering wheel nicely but still when you’re trying to get in the door handle is frozen solid and you can damage the soft close mechanism for the windows. Surprisingly got used to lack of stalks very quickly. Overall the car is 9/10. I’m driving M3 highland 👍

dfjkldfjkl 2025-12-17 13:53

Seriously annoying. Esp. if you forget to put uour window up. It just ends up inside.

dfjkldfjkl 2025-12-17 13:55

These things don’t have anything to do with each other. Having a door frame would not matter to the frame of the car or interior space.

GoBlues1 2025-12-17 13:56

I agree with your 3 complaints. Also, it uses alot of energy in cold weather and charges much slower on Level 1 charger. Other than those, it's a great car.

dfjkldfjkl 2025-12-17 13:56

LOL. That’s a funny one.

dfjkldfjkl 2025-12-17 14:00

Ah yes. …and seat squeaks. The service center solution to my squeaky driver seat was “don’t put it all the way back” …….

LarryHoover44 2025-12-17 14:03

I love my model 3 but the paint SUCKS. Worst quality paint of any vehicle I have ever owned.

ASMRekulaar 2025-12-17 14:03

The new manual door handles release in the back seats is under a hidden compartment in the door pocket. Its the same material as the pocket so it blends in and is a cable now.

dfjkldfjkl 2025-12-17 14:04

All of the above, and BRIGHTS. The auto brights for headlights sucks (and is the only option). Going downhill in a neighborhood that has an upward incline on the opposite side with street lights and the brights refuse to engage. I have to hold the stalk back to keep them on there. I assume it is thinking the street lights are super dim headlights anyway. That is the most annoying thing I encounter regularly. Finding the door handle on a 3 in a dark place, also terrible.

dub_soda 2025-12-17 14:05

Auto wipers. FSD somehow getting better and worse. Weird nav directions. Can’t drive 85mph and expect even decent range. Everything else is great, still worth it

jawg201 2025-12-17 14:51

I hate the way when you go to nav you have to set it to rotate with you every time. Iove summon. But it can be hit or miss sometimes, cameras get dirty often depending on where, when, and how much you drive. Frunk not being power. Moving the turn signal camera pop up every other time you get in Washer fluid comes out the wipers so its kind of not efficient. It also runs down the side of the car and leaves like water stains so I run through th ecsr wash often I wish the skip next song button was thicker or a button, its very inconvenient when youre skipping multiple times Also I hate the way that it keeps putting nav back into the corner I wish when you open more things it could display nav info along the top/ return to half screen nav I do flex ! When I leave my mom in the back seat watching something it always locks down the car. IT doesnt matter if I leave it in dog or camp mode phone in the car keyboard it always locks it down unless someone's in the driver's seat. The only exception is if I close the door enough to close but not fully latch. Wind noise also WHEN I WANT HEATED/COOLED SEATS BUT NO AIR. IF YOU CLICK CLIMATE IT WILL JUST TURN IT ON SO TO EDIT IT OR ANY WARMING I HAVE TO TURN IT RIGHT BACK OFF My windows are CONSTANTLY fogged up.

jawg201 2025-12-17 14:58

I like the buttons more!

jawg201 2025-12-17 15:10

Extension-Shopping84 2025-12-17 15:26

Chris_Apex_NC 2025-12-17 15:29

The door handles are difficult to operate in the dark. You have to feel around to find the spot to press. Seat headrest too far forward. Bothers me but not most. Auto wipers. Overall, best car out there.

Dismal_Skill_268 2025-12-17 15:39

THATS WHAT SHE SAID

Puzzleheaded-Emu9913 2025-12-17 15:45

Only thing annoys me is that I don’t have the highland model

SirAgravaine 2025-12-17 15:59

Layout choices mostly. The regenerative breaking bar used to be in a better/more intuitive location (now it is very easy to miss). The menu tray used to be in a different location/function slightly differently. The driving/car visualization used to function differently/not stay zoomed in. I have probably forgotten more than I remember, but I recall feeling a slight sense of loss every time something I was accustomed to was replaced by something I liked less.

Jairbmwmthree 2025-12-17 16:08

I’m struggling with my doors not locking when I walk away sometimes. Yes, I’ve reset the Bluetooth connection etc. Perhaps it’s a seat sensor. 3.5 yrs strong at 48k miles Wind noise from drivers window when it’s extremely cold. Steering wheel starting to peel on the bottom a little bit. Still waiting for my rear fog light to come in an update.

Kilo_Juliett 2025-12-17 16:16

Probably the auto wipers. Technically it's software, so it should be able to be fixed...eventually. As far as things that aren't software related, I can't really think of any. It's probably the closest thing to a perfect car. I guess the window switches could be better. They feel really cheap. A powered frunk would be nice. It doesn't seem like its a big deal until you own one and realize how annoying it is that it's not powered. Since there is no engine, snow builds up really easily on the hood since there is nothing to melt it off. It would be nice if there was a way to heat it just enough to melt snow. The cameras get dirty pretty easily in the winter with all the salt. I wish all the cameras had washer fluid pumped to them, well not all of them. Just the rear and blind spot cameras. It's annoying to have to teach every person that rides with you how to open the doors. I really wish it was a hatchback. It's a really good car overall. It's really hard to find faults with it. The interior is pretty good. Cupholder are good, and there is a place for your phone. I actually like not having a gauge cluster because I can lower my steering wheel and not have to worry about blocking anything.

Dry_Weekend_7075 2025-12-17 16:21

No spare. Buy a spare, practice putting it on in your driveway. Don’t get caught lacking

Silvoan 2025-12-17 16:28

I sort of wish the standard cruise control was a little 'dumber'. When you're just on standard cruise control and it reduces your speed on the highway around a corner. Doesn't happen very often but it's annoying when it does

Financial-Art-368 2025-12-17 16:44

Overall, wouldn't go back to an ICE car. I have a 2024 Highland but I do have some annoyances set aside just for posts like this: 1. Forward Collision Warning (should really be FALSE Collision Warning) sucks so hard. The Warning in my case is false 98% of the time. If you get Tesla Insurance, be prepared to have your premium go up by $5 every time you get this Warning. It doesn't sound like much, but the car will find a way to keep dinging you for it. Get outside insurance if you can. Progressive, Foremost, and Country had the lowest rates for me. Also safety score 2.2 sounds like it's just getting worse. Look into the Excessive Speeding for safety score 2.2, if you're interested. 2. If you get the white seats, they're easy to keep clean, but you'll be worrying about them when you take the car into a non-tesla service center. I learned this the hard way. Only use a magic eraser if you're desperate, which I was. But keep baby wipes on hand. 3. The frunk. This is more of a slight annoyance compared to the others. If your hands are full, you've gotta do arm gymnastics to get out your phone to open it, or juggle everything while you lean in to tap the screen to hit the button. I'm considering DIY installing an aftermarket powered frunk, but am a bit overwhelmed at the process.

koskenjuho 2025-12-17 16:46

Would add to the doors that if you live where it's snowy and cold in winter, the doors can be pain in the ass to deal with. Especially if you don't have a garage. Ice blocking the whole handle (especially here in Finland when it's been changing between +5 Celsius and -10 Celsius for like 2 times a week now). You can get the driver door open with the app, but if you need to open the other doors it can be painful. Also the windows freezing and won't go down when you open the door. Having defrost mode on for 15min usually helps with this but it is very power consuming. Other than that, I haven't had any problems and especially during summer I've enjoyed it every single day!

Redrix_ 2025-12-17 16:59

I have a 2018 so my input is probably worthless lol

Scraping on speed bumps

Rapppps 2025-12-17 18:04

\* Adding an destination in navigation is always at the end (instead of between start and final destination). So you need to fiddle through menus to put destinations into right order. \* Muting nav speech also requires entering a sub menu \* Chill mode is cool but firmly flooring the pedal should optionally override it \* Map zooms in and out unwantedly when trying to find a charger. Unecessarily difficult to change from one suggested charger to another one. \* The small trunk door is almost a show stopper for the M3. It should have the same opening like model Y. \* I hate the plastic leather \* Joe mode does not really work (lowering system sound noises) \* Auto-wiper dysfunction is an offense to 2025 \* Wireless charger is making iphone running hot \* Suspension still not up to date IMHO Other than that awesome car.

ReadBig5086 2025-12-17 18:14

wipers are the lowest quality item on the tesla they could have put lights on the handles so we can see them at night. seat cushioning I find a bit cheap but as car is newish I cant say how long it will last till it falls apart the big ipad could have been titled at a slight angle towards the driver opening the frunk by the app and then cannot close it from the app, I think this functionality needs to me disabled unless person is near the car

eengie 2025-12-17 18:21

Especially if you park outside (as I do)! My wife has a model Y (24) and it’s all similar if not identical problems, unfortunately. So in 6 years of being produced this way, they did not see fit to just have a normal door handle, for example. And of course the latest X and Y have the same design for handles, mirrors and frameless doors still too so it’s not like things will be better until they start taking into consideration the climate isn’t always sunny. 😂 It’s a real shame. Both have been good cars otherwise. But the winter really sucks.

hmills619 2025-12-17 18:48

I dont know. A lady last night told me she thought they were like 100k. I was like um, I paid less than 30k for a 2023.

Inevitable_Car9916 2025-12-17 18:50

Same though. I just treat it like my car waving

Careless-Lobster-814 2025-12-17 19:17

Yeah I saw that, now I have a fancy build in phone holder🤣🤣🤣 but better than overheating it

defnotpewds 2025-12-17 19:37

I have stuffed a squishy piece of foam at the bottom of the windshield and it appears to work.

[deleted] 2025-12-17 19:46

There isnt. It is stupid. Also cant wait to get rid of mine.

hidrafish 2025-12-17 19:51

I got a model 2025, besides the weird way FSD behaves on regular streets, summon mode sometimes works, others it doesnt. Dash sometimes rattles. Other than that, car is great.

Ok-Arm-8412 2025-12-17 21:28

I’ve got a 2025 model 3 AWD long range from new and currently on 17,000 miles. No particular order. 1. Auto wipers are awful and far too slow. 2. Wiper speed adjustment isn’t natural 3. Temperature gauge always wildly inaccurate in the winter. 4. Controls on the steering wheel is form over function 5. Dome lights develop a mind of their own. One in particular in my case. Had it replaced once before. Literally my only issues. Positives out weigh the negatives by a very large margin.

LycheeSweaty5372 2025-12-17 21:30

Former model3 rwd owner here, I agree with the others about teaching people how to use the doors and the navigation being terrible. I had a lot of rattles inside the car, had to replace the door check straps twice in less than 2 years. It was just too small and I’m not a big guy lol

LycheeSweaty5372 2025-12-17 21:33

Build quality was the biggest annoyance, had a couple of brutal rattles inside the car that drove me insane, they are a very rough ride, navigation routing sucks, auto wipers weren’t the greatest. It’s just a small car, fun to drive around town

[deleted] 2025-12-17 21:46

markymarc610 2025-12-17 21:49

Sometimes the 2025 Model 3 just puts itself in park while you are in drive and sitting still, pretty annoying at an intersection when the light turns green and your car doesn't move til you put it back in drive 🤷‍♂️ Thought about bringing it in for service but work a pretty rough schedule so I've just been dealing with it since I'm pretty aware of my surroundings and can put it back in drive pretty quick. I don't see much of anyone else really reporting this either so I just chalk it up to my bad luck or not understanding how the car functions. Definitely pretty concerning though.

markymarc610 2025-12-17 21:50

Easily the worst flaw of the car, especially in northeast US

arnoldit 2025-12-17 21:52

Teaching people how to use the doors is actually really annoying! Even though I saw new Ys with some sort of stickers showing the correct door button and what’s the emergency handle.

No-Wallaby-8218 2025-12-17 21:59

For what it's worth, we've had the Mach E for one year with no issues or glitches. Our experience with the 2020 model 3 was with poor build quality I.e. seat vinyl delamination and rattles that would crop up. If you want the latest tech, the Mach E would not be it. It is however a solid car.

Sum__Guy73 2025-12-17 22:12

The goddamn beeping and general interference of the safety features. The related and absolutely terrible cruise control that freaks out at absolutely nothing

Capable-Cup-9641 2025-12-17 22:28

For such an advanced car the auto wipers are absolutely garbage 😂 I just manually set it, not a huge deal since you can adjust them with the scroll on the wheel

Glittering-Class3520 2025-12-17 22:47

Only annoyance I have is some small creaks and rattles but now that I pay attention I notice them in our Kia too. Everything else is flawless - 30k miles mp3 2024

YayAnimals 2025-12-17 23:50

I still have a this random clunk that annoys the shit out of me - whenever I press and release the accelerator. They told me it’s only on the rwd version and is normal.. how idk Besides that it’s bee all right - it’s really nice not having to go to gas station and charging overnight at home Paint is very soft , teaching ppl how to open the door is a bit annoying as well

Low-Imagination8692 2025-12-18 00:04

My biggest complaint is with how tiny the visors are (2020 M3). They don't come down far enough to block the sun when it's low in the sky. Also...the auto wipers.

Mission-Pound-8329 2025-12-18 00:34

Had the car since September and still cant get used to the indicators. Its fine if its a planned turn but when you go round one roundabout and on to another its impossible to indicate you are leaving the roundabout. I also hate the high beam. A few times I've had my steering wheel turned and I'm flashed from the driver coming the other way to allow me to go in front of them. Especially when turning into my work as its a busy road coming the other way so folk flash you to go before them if the roads quiet. A few times ive been unable to find my full beam button because the wheel has been turned so unable to acknowledge them. The entrance is dark so they wouldn't see a wave. I never thought these things would bother me but they do now

Crawdaddy-MktgGenius 2025-12-18 01:29

With other cars that have rain sensors embedded in windshield the dealerships charge up to $1000 to recalibrate after a windshield replacement.

big-metal-bird 2025-12-18 01:30

What’s funny is they could easily improve this. I recently upgraded to an S and no longer have this issue. The S outputs a lot less fluid and it is just as effective without getting everywhere

Etow1234 2025-12-18 01:57

My biggest annoyance is probably the handles, I love them in the summer time I hate them in the winter, I live in Canada where it gets icey and there are times I have to punch the handle until it finally opens haha. I have a 2024 highland and I love it otherwise

Holiday-Property1474 2025-12-18 02:07

24' M3 RWD LR -people complain about the turn signal on the wheel but that's fine and easy to use after 1 day, the shifting being on the screen is the absolute worst part of this car and the only thing I would genuinely want changed. Auto shift helps but not for fast maneuvers. There's been plenty of times I thought I put it back in drive but it didn't go all the way through or I missed because I'm paying attention to my surroundings. It should be required to be able to use a shifter without having to look at it. -no safety handles/oh shit handles. I didn't even realize the car didn't come with it until one day I went up to grab it and there was nothing. It does come with the coat holder hook though. -The doors, especially rear ones, are harder to close than average. In between average and a wrangler. -rear wheels tread went out in under a year -center console squeak (you can fix it pretty cheap diy) -whistling if you opt to get the Tesla roof rack -dust and dirt build up on the trunk/back because of the high torque or maybe it's just design idk. Mudflaps prob help -back windows only go down halfway These may make the car sound bad but I wouldn't choose any other daily driver and the pros outweigh the cons many times over.

thenitram24 2025-12-18 02:13

Mine weren’t too bad for the first year maybe, but a few software updates made it immediately and noticeably worse. I have a S3XY button on the back of my screen that I hit to set it to off instantly when it decides to wipe on a perfectly sunny day.

freakroach 2025-12-18 02:31

Regarding doors. Even though I'm used to of them now, but it's still annoying to try and find the door handle when it's dark. All it needs is some lighting on the door handle.

SleepingAndKissing 2025-12-18 02:34

you can put ur phone on the charging dock and turn off wireless charging.

Major_Region_400 2025-12-18 03:10

Open windows in rain. It’s a flood.

IcyOriginal3053 2025-12-18 03:35

This actually really bothered me when I had mine. I have my windows open often and I always had to close them whether I was moving or not but definitely while moving! Only car out of 7 that I’ve had to do that with

samzplourde 2025-12-18 03:39

In freezing and ice conditions, sometimes the charge port door gets frozen shut and need to be pryed open, but it's a somewhat flimsy piece of plastic and I feel like it could break. Maybe passing a credit card in the seam would help, but I haven't tried that.

GrandElectronic6850 2025-12-18 04:50

1. I get annoyed when I want to sit in my car and and just have everything turn off . With the Tesla (and I might be doing this the wrong way ) I have to turn off sentry mode , go to safety and scroll all the way down to turn off the car after locking the doors. If I leave sentry mode on , the car will detect me and turn back on. 2. The sound the car makes in reverse…. It lets everyone know you’re outside backing up to park or leave . So annoying 😝😝😝

GrandElectronic6850 2025-12-18 04:53

In mine it’s the sunvisor clip thing has gotten a bit loose and it rattles so I don’t connect the visor to clip anymore and it stays quiet .

GrandElectronic6850 2025-12-18 04:56

Urghh! I feel you on this one … used to feel like an idiot fumbling for my phone and the door not opening so I just got the key fob car remote . Now I can open it from afar and have open mostly 100 percent of the time . Also don’t have to worry about my cell phone dying and being left out ( I don’t like carrying the card - keep those at home )

GrandElectronic6850 2025-12-18 04:58

You can use the voice command to open. The gloves box lol surprise ! 😮 now you know

Vox289 2025-12-18 05:04

Usually I’m reaching in from the passenger side to grab something or swap a flash drive, not sitting in the drivers seat to use voice commands.

GrandElectronic6850 2025-12-18 05:07

I see how that could be annoying . I don’t keep much in my glovebox except for registration and insurance paperwork . My flash drive is 1 tb and I save and delete from my Tesla app

marseli80 2025-12-18 08:42

I am a primary driver and I have a secondary driver as well on my Tesla Model 3 Highland. Both with own driver profiles and phone connections. My phone is set to primary device. When the other person sits in the car, Tesla Model 3 still connects to MY phone if I’m in the house even though the other person just sat in the car!!! If I’m watching a video or am on a call, audio transfers to Tesla 🤦‍♂️ This is a huge problem and even a privacy issue! The other day a video thumbnail was shown on the car screen when the secondary user sat in the car (I don’t even know when I watched it - I wasn’t watching it). How in the world do we have this issue in 2025?!?! I can understand when both people are in the car. But when I’m not even near the car, how is it still connecting to my phone? I have read that for most people it recognizes the driver properly but not me.

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-18 08:43

Efficient_Garbage659 2025-12-18 10:05

Paint quality is shocking. Both chips and marks that rub out

dmaurice11 2025-12-18 13:56

My trunk is typically loaded with gear so when I golf, I lay my bag across my back seat. Not a horrible compromise, maybe when I eventually have a car seat in back I’ll reorganize my gear or figure out some type of solution but that’s a personal issue. One small complaint for the build of the car is the center console/glove compartment. The (lockable) glove compartment is a hair too small for most anything other than paperwork/cash. Both center consoles feel almost too deep. If something can’t fit in the little shelves made for them, I don’t store it in there. The other is the mechanical frunk. I know that there’s a kit for it, and after 3 years owning this car I plan to get it, but it just feels like something that someone should’ve thought of before they made the car. “Hey, we’re making the trunk motorized and remote, let’s make one of the more unique features of this car mechanical” Last is a double edge sword, it’s low. I love the look of it, but I drove a truck my entire life so instead of climbing in and falling out, I fall in climb out. From a practicality standpoint I wish I got the Y, but from an appreciation standpoint I love the way the 3 looks and don’t mind how low it is. Other than those, I see some auto wiper complaints which I agree with, personally I just click the button if I need it or use the 1 2 3 settings. And road noise(which with no music can be annoying). I love this car, and I’m driving it until I have to buy a new one. And RIP your inbox, I’m sure you have a million new messages about codes, if you need one let me know ;)

Low-Branch-8380 2025-12-18 14:56

My biggest annoyance is the placing of the manual door opener. My mother already used it multiple times by mistake, and I have to keep telling people where they should press to open the door safely

AdonaiGarm 2025-12-18 15:31

Any car with a camera used for LKAS and other safety features can already cost up to 2000 or more for a replacement and calibration. In fact, it is done any time the windshield gets replaced. it is just not the rain sensor.

AdonaiGarm 2025-12-18 15:49

I have the Y and test drove the Juniper Y and it has fixed the two biggest issues the gen 1 Ys have: road noise and stiff suspension. I'd imagine the gen 1 3s have the same issues.

shortguy91 2025-12-18 16:20

From where? Picture?

Ok-Tourist-1011 2025-12-18 16:48

The cup holders can be annoying because there’s little thingys that come out to hold things like water bottles in place really well 🤣😂 but when you have a styrofoam cup it’s a little nerve wracking, especially when it’s Dr Pepper next to my white seats 🤣 I know it’ll wipe off but the anxiety is still there

insanelyhugeman8 2025-12-18 16:59

Haha yes i do!

pretzelgreg317 2025-12-18 17:56

I have a 2023 M3 and a 2024 MY and I love both cars, maybe the 3 a little more ;-). There are some adjustments to the EV life but its been wonderful and honestly Tesla has had it all figured out for years (Non supercharger public charging systems are mostly terrible) I will never buy a dealer business model, ICE car ever again. No f'ing way.

defnotpewds 2025-12-18 19:27

I have that one too!!

hamburgernet 2025-12-18 19:45

- Constantly some camera being blocked or blinded and having no form of cruise control due to it. - auto wipers turning on pretty much everytime FSD is activated. Camera and glass were just cleaned byTesla - FSD keeps trying to change lanes even after the signal is canceled. Should have a cooldown. - Windshield fluid going on the driver window. - The screen and aux devices turn off the instant the door closes. I use the rear passenger door for my bag and I wish it would wait a few seconds before turning everything off. - 12v outlet not being 12v causing faults in most inverters. - Stock with powered frunk. - Not in my car but being in a car without a turn signal stock is annoying. - Finding the right seat position to not cause pain from one pedal driving.

Crawdaddy-MktgGenius 2025-12-18 19:57

Oh yeah! Fortunately, Tesla windshields are surprisingly gadget-free.🤓

The auto wipers are a minor annoyance. When I got mine, there was wind noise at the drivers window. However, Tesla service fixed it for free. Everything else has been awesome. I love driving this car!

shortguy91 2025-12-18 22:59

Cool thanks

jonranssj 2025-12-19 00:48

This is the most annoying post I’ve seen on Reddit

captdunsel721 2025-12-19 05:27

Edit: occasional not daily. Handles in frigid cold freeze shut… need to pound them open with the end of scrapper. Maybe if I preheated more? Other than annoying wiper set up - I love it. My elderly lady passengers forget how to open the doors

gentledominantperv 2025-12-19 08:42

To add, door handles can be impossible to find in the dark, same does for the charge socket once the flap has opened. And I hate the stupid motorised flap,it's pointless a d is prone to trying to shut when pissi g around trying to plug in in the dark!

Pretend_Chain_7925 2025-12-19 11:04

For me it’s the squeaky seats. I have a service scheduled with Tesla so hopefully they’ll fix it. I wonder if other had the gas same issue

mhoydis 2025-12-19 14:08

The worst part is the freakin’ auto wipers and the wiper fluid distribution shnozzles. Aside from that everything’s great.

GeneralHoliday5401 2025-12-19 17:38

The automatic windshield wipers are abysmal. They hardly activate in the rain, except when I put the car in reverse. Then they go full hurricane. My car is a 2019 with 2.5 hardware. 3.0 and 4.0 cars might be better.

coolbudliterally 2025-12-19 17:50

My M3 has been amazing. Annoyances - 6/7 year old kinds find it difficult to buckle up. The booster seat slides over. They dont have this issue with my currect and previous non-tesla cars. Also, they feel nausia in long drive, despite me being careful with regen braking. (I dont want to disable it altogether).

MemberOfOneBody 2025-12-19 19:16

When I first got I had tons of rattles, but after a year they all went away which is nice. So be aware of that. I have virtually no complaints. I golf and having my box bag diagonally is a sedan issue not an M3 issue. Id say the only one is early crash detection is obnoxious at times and unnecessary, but its not a big deal.

Agitated_Whereas_608 2025-12-20 01:10

There are not enough usb ports . only one in the console

staggarelli 2025-12-20 03:04

Had my M3 2023 for almost 3 years now and the single worst thing is the auto wipers. Everything else is manageable/negligible

l_martin97 2025-12-20 08:01

It gets curbed everywhere. Also, if your knees hurt, you probably don’t want it cause it’s pretty low to the ground. Aside from that, I love that car more than myself.

Castro96 2025-12-20 20:51

If you are tall you can’t fold the rear seats. Adaptive headlights almost never disable in cities. The button for activating adaptive cruise control, doesn’t register half the time. In Europe the tow hitch is really annoying. Almost impossible to connect the wiring without getting on your knees. You can’t wipe the windshield on highways without the washer fluid getting everywhere. The range at 150 kph is only 250-300 km.

Jointome1 2025-12-21 00:01

For the door problem, I just added one of those stickers from aliexpress in orange, since I like orange color in details, anda everytime they ask, I just reply - press the orange button. - It works well

Jointome1 2025-12-21 00:11

Oppening the doors when my daughter os sleeping just wakes her UP. I noticed that I can first open the Windows and then I can open the door without waking her. The mats need to be replaced. I can't see the wheels on the mirrors ir câmera, só parking is a bit anoying, even the lines in the câmera does not do much. Até least I cant use them to Park.

talldark604guy 2025-12-21 15:45

Mine is a leaker. Very annoying in rainy climes. Heater and heated seats don't heat as well as an ICE. Range isn't great for me these days because I don't have a home charger and I'm driving 200km per day. But other than these, it's been a total game changer and I've been able to overlook these things for everything else it affords me: economy, speed, luxury, environmental improvements

charchilly 2025-12-21 17:23

None

Sam_1_am_1228 2025-12-21 22:31

I'm seeing a LOT of people bitching about the auto wipers, and I gotta say, I have no idea what they're talking about. My 2022 M3P will on rare occasion start repeatedly wiping nothing off the windshield but generally it's because the sun hit the camera just right or the glass is slightly foggy still, which is a problem any car with auto wipers will have. In general, it is leaps and bounds far above the auto wipers on my Lincoln MKT I got out of, which was way, WAY more susceptible to both of those issues even though it used a separate rain sensor instead of a single camera like Tesla Vision. However, while most people I have driven are perfectly capable of figuring out how to use the exterior door handle, I have to explain to EVERY SINGLE NEW PERSON that they should hit the electronic button to get out, rather than pull the manual handle that Jack's up the weather seal. That has admittedly gotten old fast. Another issue I have is that trying to do anything on the touch screen, especially if you're currently driving, is an outright nuisance at the best of times. Far from exclusive to Tesla, but still very worth mentioning. I do my very best to use the scroll wheels on the steering wheel or voice commands for everything I can while in motion. My final complaint is that they do not have built-in sunglasses holders, which was important to me as I have major issues with eye sensitivity. I have to wear my sunglasses even on heavily overcast days, so I'm routinely having to grab them before driving, but I've found that keeping them in their little carry pouch to prevent scratches and keeping them in the little cubby by the wireless chargers is fine enough. There are easily installed aftermarket options if you want to go that route, but in my opinion, all the options I could find either had their own drawbacks, were butt-ugly, or both. But overall, while I'll admit I'm still a relatively new owner as I just bought the car used this year, I would argue that it's a very practical, very convenient car with no major drawbacks that I couldn't find solutions for. In my opinion, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

I have no issues with my M3 LR. Occasionally, it takes a moment to wake up or load features like Sentry Mode in the app.

I would say the cruise settings can be frustrating. Have FSD but can’t set the speed, just the driving styles. And I don’t believe I can switch from FSD to the other autopilot option without going into park. Live in a rural area with little traffic so no need to “flow” with traffic. Would prefer to set my number so FSD doesn’t get me a speeding a ticket. 24M3P

My only pet-peeve is the location of cabin air filter In my previous gas cars, it was always easily accessible and replaceable, usually from the glove box, no tools needed. Whereas for Model 3 *(and Model Y)*, you need tools to take out trim pieces, disconnect some wires, hang on to the said wire because it has a tendency to disappear into the car, only then you even see the cabin air filter Definitely not designed by someone who has ever owned a car!

The only other annoyance for me is the lack of a rear windshield wiper. Sure it has defrost, but there have been times when I've needed it clean **NOW** not 7 minutes later

How is a door frame _(or the lack of it)_ stopping the engineers from designing a stronger B-Pillar?
