Bought a new to me 2023 model 3, any tips on how to maximize the experience are welcome. I got a basic 1 motor rear wheel drive model, nothing crazy.

Nice! Congrats - but where did the rest of your legs go?

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 20:17

💀

doug12398n 2025-12-14 20:29

Why are you driving it? 😂 /s

Affectionate_Ad_3399 2025-12-14 20:36

Good choice 👍🏼

rwhe83 2025-12-14 20:45

“Maximize the experience”…that’s a new one. OP, it’s a car…half the fun is finding out stuff for yourself.

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 20:51

I’m going to be divining in this coming week.

rwhe83 2025-12-14 20:52

Perfect, you’d be surprised how much you can find on your own. I have a feeling you can maximize the experience on your own.

Neat_Welcome6203 2025-12-14 20:56

"basic 1 motor rear wheel drive model" You got the LFP one that thing is fucking *bulletproof*

King7338 2025-12-14 20:58

Congrats! You’ll enjoy it. I got mine 6 months ago and i’m still excited about it everyday ☺️

CaliDude75 2025-12-14 21:00

My favorite feature is probably sending directions to the car from my phone.

gdoggy1678 2025-12-14 21:04

I believe you. Pic only taken like 3 lights away from the service center. lol

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 21:10

😂💯

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 21:13

I’m pumped, I haven’t had a new car in 12yrs.

trackp 2025-12-14 21:16

Buy two USB joysticks for the beach buggy and other games.

BlindStark 2025-12-14 21:20

You can change the lock sound to anything you want via the usb, I like using the voice controls for directions and a lot of other stuff

Historical-Gazelle98 2025-12-14 21:22

Congrats

Neat_Welcome6203 2025-12-14 21:37

Congrats dude, you probably won't get one for another 12

in_tha_twenties 2025-12-14 21:38

On my way to get the same exact model let's go!

Cg006 2025-12-14 21:39

Amazon has the silicon cup holder inserts, screen protector and interior organizers. Also get all weather matts

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 21:47

Congratulations, it was the easiest purchase I’ve ever made.

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-14 21:48

I’m def getting all weather mats.

Cg006 2025-12-14 21:50

If range is not an issue, the wheel caps are nice too. costs about 20 bucks. pull off those hub caps. looks 1000x better.

Cg006 2025-12-14 21:53

BTW FSD on HW 3 has been amazing as well. If you do alot of boring driving, FSD is a game changer.

origosis 2025-12-14 22:11

When I do this, mine puts in the wrong address about 1/3 times. It is like it ignores the city and finds a random city with the same street address to nav to. I had to stop using it, cause I was just always double checking if it got it wrong again.

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-12-14 22:15

You have to share a specific address? What exactly are you doing on the phone side that results in a search on the car? I suspect user error here?

origosis 2025-12-14 22:19

Yup I share an exact address. I even have google map it out first so I get an idea of where I am driving. Then share it with the Tesla. Click share button in whatever app had the address, click Tesla, and then when i get in the car it often has a slightly different address. Like if I goto 300 Oak st Pittspurgh, PA. I will check it in wayze, google, or apple maps. Then go to share and click Tesla. and most of the time it gets the right address. But very often. It will have the 300 oak st, but pick a random city. I found it does something similar while searching. If you do not put in the entire address. So it seems like instead of taking the entire address and navigating to it. What the backend is actually doing is searching for the address that matches and then picking it. Obviously I have no idea what the code is doing without seeing it. But this is my job and I am pretty good at figuring out how something is failing.

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-12-14 22:21

Yeah it sounds like they’re passing some string value with a translation layer to their own nav. Probably a function of your area having shit nav data. I’m curious if you tried different addresses it would work consistently for those. Thanks for sharing detail

origosis 2025-12-14 22:26

It almost always gets local addresses right. I do not recall ever having an issue there. But anything more than 20 miles, even saved and frequented addresses. It was a crap shoot what it would get. Unrelated. Later on I found I really enjoyed tightly planned trips. Exact stops. Planning my own charging. Etc. And so it became a none issue as I just enter each exact address as I go. (Having something like waze or google maps to double check the entire trip for traffic and detours.) It is work I enjoy doing. So I have barely even thought of using the share address feature anymore.

Abject-Joke-6695 2025-12-14 22:30

westside gunn 🔥

pietrohtommasi 2025-12-14 22:36

You are saying that LFP is better in terms of battery? I have also a m3 2026 with LFP, just curious

CaliDude75 2025-12-14 22:39

I’ve rarely had issues. Most common is “Could not send to car.” If I wake up the car, almost always works fine.

[deleted] 2025-12-14 22:42

nice i got a 2023 model 3 last week. Been loving every second of it i’ll never go back

iDyanmicx91 2025-12-14 23:06

Definitely all for the suggestion someone said about figuring things out for yourself since that’s the fun in it. One thing I will recommend is to switch range from miles remaining to %. You’ll worry a lot less when you notice that your miles remaining doesn’t even come close to matching real world, but that’s expected unless you’re driving 50mph on a flat road with no wind and it’s 80f out lol. Definitely get ceramic tint, life changing when it’s hot out. Enjoy and welcome to the family!!!

InterstellarChange 2025-12-15 00:05

LFP advantages: Twice as many charge cycles, charge to 100% at least once a week-ok even every time- means you have equal or more usable range on tap all the time (all other teslas show max 80% daily and 100% only when you need it), slower charging but smaller battery means it still charges very fast to full, less potential fire hazard. The smaller, lighter rwd model 3 is one of the most efficient production ev's.

Few-Client9285 2025-12-15 00:34

Got the same last July, it’s been great! Got the single motor mainly for the LFP battery, and I don’t care if it’s not super quick lol

leviveladia 2025-12-15 01:11

Im new the US, how did you buy one? I want to pay mine in one payment in cash. do I need to insure it first? then for the payment did you call the bank? sorry if my question seems dumb

PromisePlastic5149 2025-12-15 01:28

Congrats I also have a 2023 telsa model 3 I just wish it came with hw4 though but I am happy it has the AMD Ryzen chip

Tamapttl 2025-12-15 01:31

Did you just start a new trend? Everyone has to pick up their Teslas in camouflage shorts now? 😀

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-15 01:43

So I literally just walked in and asked about their used inventory, we found one that fit my needs. It’s easier to finance with them and it’s quick and easy, Tesla also offers their own insurance (which I hear is really good), I kept my own insurance because I have a classic car that needs to be insured a certain way. They do offer a straight cash purchase, which also changes and lowers the price of the car. It’s all done through the Tesla app, super easy and self explanatory.

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-15 02:39

That would be hilarious.

hmspain 2025-12-15 03:25

Take the extra steps of checking the address and routing (from inside the car), click on the destination icon, save it as a favorite, and name it something memorable.

hmspain 2025-12-15 03:26

I thought you were showing off hands free driving, perhaps you are. I'm curious though. What do we do with our hands if they are not on the wheel? Mine go to a "The Thinker" pose LOL.

hmspain 2025-12-15 03:28

One cold morning, I "discovered" that my TM3 Highland wheel was HEATED! I didn't know! LOL

pillowmite 2025-12-15 06:27

The LFP controller needs a little help. What you want to do charge it to 100 once a week or even less often to reset the computer. The range calculation is based on metering the kwh consumed and extrapolating the probable condition of the battery with the total kwh the battery holds when full, minus all the kwh spent since the last time it was full, plus all the kwh charged. The battery voltage is flat throughout its range except at full/ near-empty so it's not possible to figure out the battery state of charge in the middles. NMC voltage has a ramp from empty to full so it's easy to know by simple sample. This goes both ways, discharge and charge. Thus, if you charge only to "80" all the time, the calculation will be off farther and farther - what is 80 percent? How accurate is the metering? How much is left??? Hence, the 100 reset once a week - fail to do so and stranding is possible! A definite drawback to LFP. If you were to compare a LFP charged to 100 always and one with careful management, anal rituals, I would expect IMO a noticeable but small payoff. Myself I just play around with it, as it's kind of fun discharging down and charging it a bit back down back up etc. Play what ifs with range. I just keep in mind that the computer loses track, I imagine just a little, as I do these up and downs until I top it off.

InflationAwkward5576 2025-12-15 07:55

Never forget, leg day🥳

RedBandsblu 2025-12-15 12:48

Also works with YouTube videos as well

longbri4 2025-12-15 13:38

Try and use your wiper fluid with your driver window down ;)

farmyohoho 2025-12-15 14:04

Oh, if it's your first EV it's crazy enough. Very few cars can keep up with it if you floor it.

ohpuhpoh1 2025-12-15 14:38

Congrats! Enjoy.

rjs1956 2025-12-15 14:56

Was it heavy?

RelationshipWhich390 2025-12-15 15:44

Self driving rocks.

Todd6114 2025-12-15 16:00

Or when you have an event (with an address) in your phone calendar. Get in the car and it already has the address in the nav route all ready to go!

LegendOfZachh 2025-12-15 16:19

It’s clean, congratulations! I got the same exact model three months ago, but in white! I absolutely love it; it’s my first Tesla, and it’s a dream car for me! Half of the experience is just driving it! The quick acceleration and instant torque are simply exhilarating! FSD is also enjoyable to use; it’s not as advanced as the latest models, but it’s still a very useful tool. The only thing I recommend is to charge it to 100% once a week and then the rest to 80%. Technically, you can charge it to 100% all the time because it’s a LFP battery, but I believe charging it to 100% once a week maximizes its lifespan more than charging it to 100% all the time.

Attention_Imaginary 2025-12-15 16:46

Don't put "Open Trunk" on your four (5) controls for your home page on your Tesla phone ap. Some day by butt call, you'll arrive to find your trunk open in the parking lot. I had this happen when I went to the shooting range and had all my shooting gear and firearms in the trunk exposed... I had this happen more than once!

BLITZandKILL 2025-12-15 16:53

Now learn about Tesla camping

O2L 2025-12-15 17:49

FSD is absolutely worth it! I rarely drive myself anywhere anymore.

Famous_Ad7312 2025-12-15 18:27

Drive it like you stole it, super fun car!

Human-Exam-8585 2025-12-15 18:28

I open the address up in Google Maps or Apple Maps first then I share to the car and it’s 100% accurate all the time.

origosis 2025-12-15 18:30

Sadly, not for me. Happy to hear it is working well for you.

Oseerabo 2025-12-15 19:48

You can do everything online at Tesla.com just select that you’re paying cash. It’s as easy and buying a shoe online, then go pick up.

Oseerabo 2025-12-15 19:49

Same here

Nearby_Sport_1002 2025-12-15 20:40

Ah, HW3, I’m very sorry for you!

Better-Reason1345 2025-12-15 23:06

Yes, just enjoy. Look at the manual, figure out what the 2 scroll wheels do ( glove box for sure), love Easy Entry, think about a mechanical or electric roof sun shade, automatic Frunk operator, possibly new mats and flaps, new wheel covers (many are as aerodynamic as originals), thousands of interior upgrades to suit your style.

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-15 23:24

I don’t need wheel covers, it came with v spoke wheels.

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-15 23:25

lol.

SpongeYaDig 2025-12-16 03:47

Congrats, cover that wood trim. Lmao

Sudden-Help 2025-12-16 11:39

I’ve got the same car in white. I’d say if you live anywhere south or gets a lot of sunlight, ceramic tint your windows. The Model 3s are basically fishbowls and you’ll be cooked in the sun. Second is purchase a roof shade. This does help a lot with heating when parked and helps keep the car cool when driving. Before I did both of these things my efficiency was pretty bad cause of the car trying to keep cool. Now it’s much better Another thing, and this is personal preference but try to hand wash the car whenever possible. The Tesla paint atleast as of 2023 was pretty soft and you could notice the scratches.

themonsteryucreated 2025-12-17 21:52

Preheat the cabin with your phone before you get in when it's cold!

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-18 00:21

I’m in SoCal, it’s been in the 70’s. 😆

Krioyo_custom 2025-12-18 07:30

Go put some pants on! 🥸

Remote_Wave_7786 2025-12-18 09:46

Congrats! I just got a '23 as well. Hows the sound system on yours? I found out the hard way that they downgraded the audio on newer standard models- not all the speakers are outputting sound and im not sure if i should get new speakers or somehow just need to 'turn on' or activate the ones that aren't working..

fleagal1973 2025-12-18 22:00

I bought a 2022 M3 AWD 10 days ago. Absolutely blown away. I'm in the UK so FSD is not a thing but compared to previous cars this is a space ship. It's amazing. One pedal driving is so under rated. I've had autos before but mainly manuals/stick shift. The Tesla is smooth as you like. My bro hates Elon but was totally impressed with the M3 😂

No_Worldliness4390 2025-12-18 22:19

Get fsd

Playful_Job_4407 2025-12-19 00:47

I just got the new update which is a Christmas update and it disable my right camera and autopilot fsd on my Tesla is non-functional anymore. Is someone else having this issue?

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2025-12-19 01:21

Def not, I did mine and it’s fine.

pretzelgreg317 2025-12-19 02:29

My first tesla was this, a 2023 Model 3 RWD. Its a blast to drive has great LFP batteries that hold their capacity really well (I have 30K miles in 2 years on mine and have had 2% loss of total range) It's very efficient I often go under 200 wh/mile ( summer and light foot). I literally have done zero maintenance (umm washer fluid) in two years until this week when I replaced the OEM tires with Hankook Ion EV AS (amazing) I still look forward to every single time I drive the car.

pretzelgreg317 2025-12-19 02:35

Im curious - as FSD dev has all been focused on HW4 have there been any improvements to the version for HW3 cars? I have a HW4 Model y and have loved FSD V13+, but last time i tried FSD on my 2023 model 3 it was V12 and was way too problematic for me to continue subscribing.

pretzelgreg317 2025-12-19 02:41

It's a nimble little car and honestly no one needs the neck snapping acceleration even at 5.8 sec 0-60 it's better than every RAV4, Outback, or similar ameri-car on the road. I sometimes think the M3P would be wonderful then realize that Im cheap and don't want to pay higher insurance premiums for a car that I'm personally never driving more than 85 mph, ever.

lipfung 2025-12-19 05:23

Congratz!!!! I am sure you will enjoy it for a good long time! BTW, You are somewhat close to Legoland! \^\_\^ We sold our Model 3 and upgraded to the refreshed Model Y a few months back.

Famous-Weight2271 2025-12-21 13:58

Those shorts say Cybertruck. :)

Famous-Weight2271 2025-12-21 13:59

Beach buggy uses the steering wheel and brake pedal.

Tall_Win3251 2025-12-27 06:45

I recently found out the change the temperature just press and slider left or right! No need to bring the menu up or press those little arrows!

DallasTX2025 2026-01-31 19:54

How much did you get it for?

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2026-01-31 20:05

24,7$.

DallasTX2025 2026-01-31 20:40

Out the door? Mind sharing how many miles?

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2026-01-31 22:19

18k

XJAMAICAGOLDX 2026-01-31 22:19

Total was 24,7$ 18k ml out the door.
