I was aware, I took precautions and it still happened to me :(

Puzzleheaded_Form480 | 2025-12-13 17:53 | 42 views

I just got my 3P a couple months ago and I read on here how easy it is to get curb rash. I have no idea how I’m a really careful driver, I always told myself it wouldn’t happen to me. Welp, It ruined my morning to see this tbh. Seems small enough to cover up right?

Doesn’t look like curb rash to me, more like rock chip.

SLI_GUY 2025-12-13 17:58

those look like chips from rocks or debris, not curb rash

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-12-13 17:58

Hey, chin up. I've done that with my long range. I hear the scrape and hopped out all mad. Could be worse, this could be touched up. But you're lucky, no gashes or anything.

ZeroBalance98 2025-12-13 18:04

Don’t dwell on it it’s not a big deal

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-12-13 18:07

Hmmm you may be right. Especially if OP doesn't remember making contact with a curb. Its normally pretty obvious 😆

Seoul_T_Seattle 2025-12-13 18:10

What’s good kit to get this take care of. Is powder coating good option?

luxurychase1007 2025-12-13 18:21

Happened to me on the second day of ownership. I was so mad! Haha

tennisproA 2025-12-13 18:27

There is likely a tire and wheel repair shop near you that can fix it relatively cheap.

CampfireJr 2025-12-13 18:33

One thing that bothers me is it doesn't matter if you try your hardest to keep a vehicle in perfect condition; it's not going to happen. A little curb rash isn't going to make you car look worse than someone has there bumper removed or smashed in.

ExpensiveFish9277 2025-12-13 18:34

I want to put those little antenna things from the 80s on mine but all of my rims are already trashed (thanks tire rotations)

dragonovus 2025-12-13 18:48

That is not from a curb.

TipOld7007 2025-12-13 18:49

its totalled. straight to junk yard.

FamousStore150 2025-12-13 18:52

This unfortunately is going to happen. But there are minimally invasive measures you can take to protect the rims. MagBak makes a rim guard, and so does Rimz on Amazon.

1337new 2025-12-13 18:59

i have the same chip on the same wheel, it wasn’t from curb rash.

Drovich74 2025-12-13 19:21

These rims are fragile.

pietrohtommasi 2025-12-13 19:21

It happened to me the first time i parked the car, idk feels like the wheels are way distant from what i think, the better way i think is to look at the screen and park.

DameLasNalgas 2025-12-13 19:35

That looks like a chip. You can just leave it as is or get a paint that has the same color to fill it. I personally would just leave it. This is why I have the Tesla wheel and tire plan on my M3P, if it ever had a curb rash or worse, Tesla would have to replace it.

LectricOldman 2025-12-13 19:38

the only way to keep your car as pristine, as possible, as we all want, is to not drive the damn thing, She is still gorgeous and fun AF to drive. have a liquid attitude adjuster and you'll be fine. cheers🥃

SharpenAgency 2025-12-13 19:45

That's not curb rash step bro

brsmr123 2025-12-13 20:28

Too high and too small to be a curb rash. You can do touch up on them and you should be all good. They are so tiny.

thadude3 2025-12-13 20:30

Is Tesla making the rims out of cake? Why does everything on this car chip so easily.

Stampy_bird 2025-12-13 20:55

Same here lol At least we got it out of the way early

Stampy_bird 2025-12-13 20:56

I just cover up my road rash with a paint pen

Otherwise-Ad-9534 2025-12-13 21:17

Just get some repair paint for it

rjcarr 2025-12-13 21:53

Two of my wheels had rash when I got the car used. Not extreme but you don’t have to look hard to see it. It’s been a few months and I don’t think about it anymore.  It’s a car not a museum piece, ha.

dinnae-fash 2025-12-13 22:05

Because then people pay Tesla $$$ to fix it.

unamatadora 2025-12-13 22:49

Use the sensors. Pull into the area slowly to allow the cameras to get accurate measurements, and do not let the car icon make contact with the edges on the surrounding areas (walls, curbs, objects, etc).

First-Guide 2025-12-13 22:52

Don't worry, you'll get more to match it in no time.;) As much as I love keeping my '25 LRAWD pristine, I've come to realize you can only do so much and it's impossible to keep it from getting messed up. As a daily driver, consider it more as a tool.

joeblow133 2025-12-13 23:17

💯

Any_Series_648 2025-12-13 23:22

That's nothing. My rims are completely trashed.

Cyka_Blyat_47-74 2025-12-13 23:55

Quit driving on gravel roads, lol. J/k

DependentPositive496 2025-12-14 00:05

It’s ok these are battle scars, can’t expect a car to be in showroom condition right. After two years you’ll probably not bother.

huh_say_what_now_ 2025-12-14 00:37

Obviously that's not kerb rash I don't think you know what curb rash is

HmmDoesItMakeSense 2025-12-14 00:45

Amateur. I curbed mine much worse on day 3.

chumpyduck000 2025-12-14 01:24

Silver sharpie

Expensive-Match4402 2025-12-14 01:34

Yeah.... no matter how cautious it happens to all of us. You will be on first name bases with refurbishe team

avebelle 2025-12-14 01:57

That’s from road debris. Kind of hard to avoid unless you only drive local roads at low speeds.

glm409 2025-12-14 03:17

That’s why touch-up paint was invented.

el_pato_grande 2025-12-14 03:44

After some touch up paint and a tire rotation you won't even remember which rim it was. After all, that's what happened to me after my first chip. Now I have wheel covers that extend past the rim, but not sure if you have that option.

jaysonic0215 2025-12-14 04:23

Any painted surface on the car is fragile. I find a new chip every time I wash it. And cover them up and more appear.

Ok_Pay3643 2025-12-14 05:29

You’ll be ok

Necessary-End8647 2025-12-14 05:51

The tires don't stick out on the sides, which helps gas cars protect their rims. Unfortunately, ev tires are made to not bow out on the sides, which means if you so much as lightly brush a curb, it's all wheel and no tire.

dux_____ 2025-12-14 06:27

Welcome to the club ❤️ I got a 2 buck black pen and I swear you can't notice a thing unless you look really up close. (2021 m3p uberturbines)

kftnyc 2025-12-14 10:02

The wheels on my ‘24 M3P are still pristine, but this stuff worked very well to touch up the wheels on my ‘18 LRRWD. They look about the same color: https://a.co/d/29HM0XU

lakerskb248 2025-12-14 13:27

Yeah that's what I think it is too

themonsteryucreated 2025-12-14 15:43

We did it to ours like the second day

Backsideexposed56 2025-12-14 17:18

Welcome to the club. The only person who will see it is you. And it will bother you.

refrainblue 2025-12-14 18:12

I never hit any curbs and definitely have a few rock chips. Learned to live with having a bottle of touch up paint. I've had to touch up both of my cars over five years.

AcidKarp 2025-12-14 21:36

Bro its not a big deal. Just drive the damn thing

SortSwimming5449 2025-12-14 22:03

This is nothing. Let us know what your car looks like in a year from now… You’ll probably be crying with the rest of us. 😭

bullishmarket19 2025-12-14 23:50

LMFAO

VA_STI 2025-12-15 01:50

Rock

VA_STI 2025-12-15 01:51

Do they fit the M3P rims?

Key_Astronomer9924 2025-12-15 04:45

I did it on back to back days and I’ve never had curb rash on my previous cars before 🥲

Recent-Try5406 2025-12-15 05:04

Like taking out a motorcycle for the first time. Drive into the nearest parking lot, drop it on one side, then the other. Then drive away knowing you need not worry about pristine. The rock chips will happen.

FamousStore150 2025-12-15 07:37

If you have 20s, then your only option is Rimz.

DrCHIVES 2025-12-15 13:19

This doesn't look like curb rash. Either rock chips or someone/something nicked your wheel in passing while parked. There would be a "grain" or rash lines on a curb rash and very difficult to happen to such a small location on a tire when the tire is rotating.

Drewpost19 2025-12-15 14:37

That’s not curb rash

Grandmasterjord 2025-12-15 15:02

I think you were maybe trying to be too careful making you overcorrect? I gotta be honest, I’ve never understood how someone could do this. I’ve had two Teslas and driven thousands more because I worked at Tesla and this has never happened to me. (Knock on wood)

viper4774 2025-12-15 17:52

Happens to everyone sooner or later don't feel bad.

aenima1991 2025-12-15 17:55

Lol it’s a car wheel brother

armarcu 2025-12-15 18:48

I have a 21 model y and I did the same thing and I went on TEMU app. and bought 4 new hup caps for $15 apiece and have 19" wheels and they look great they are all black

ReviewGuy883 2025-12-15 19:54

This isn’t that bad. I’d keep driving it and if it gets worse find a rim refinished in your area. That’s normal wear and tear unfortuniatley.

Famous_Ad7312 2025-12-15 20:35

This is going to be a 5% decrease in mileage.

Todd6114 2025-12-15 21:04

It was the liquid attitude adjuster that caused this 😜 /jk

LectricOldman 2025-12-15 21:36

Between that and the front lower bumper, it’s so damn easy to to do…..

Capable-Cup-9641 2025-12-15 22:01

I mean look at the plastic pieces. Definitely rubbed up against something

Ornery_Climate1056 2025-12-16 04:38

Zink wheels repair kit....cheap and easy!

d3br34k5 2025-12-16 21:14

It’s a Tesla, not a Bugatti. Keep it clean and don’t obsess. 🍻

Narrow_Ad_8347 2025-12-17 02:20

Same here. Prior to that was 6 cars ago when I was first learning to drive. Now I don't care. The paint on the hood is all chipped from highway driving. I don't drive behind leaking dump trucks ect. I accept that normal wear and tear on a Tesla looks like paint chips and rim rash, at least with the 20".

Tmobile_013 2025-12-17 02:45

If you didn’t feel it in your soul, it’s not curb rash

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-12-17 03:12

100% always that sinking feeling 😂

Successful_Point_44 2025-12-18 01:50

Dude you look wrong at these cars and they get damaged
