Modification Suggestions

ehem05 | 2025-12-12 20:39 | 29 views

So I’ve owned my M3P for over 3 years now, 103k miles and I have not made a single modification except for buying a set of 18” Tsportline wheels and Michelin Cross Climate. Any mod suggestions to make the car feel a bit better, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Only thing I've added so far was carpet floor mats. They helped a bit with road noise. I was wondering what you thought about the cross climates?

IWantToPlayGame 2025-12-12 21:07

Audio system upgrade, dash camera, sound proofing are all good suggestions.

What does "feel better" mean to you? Comfort? Performance? Handling?

kynde 2025-12-12 21:37

All I've modded where the under door lamps. I switched to those that show Tesla logo. I really like them. Very cheap, got them from Amazon and trivial installation as it's just a bulb swap pretty much.

Threeofnine000 2025-12-12 21:53

What are you looking to do? For looks, comfort or do you want to turn it into a track capable car?

MeasurementMother579 2025-12-12 22:28

"Better" is subjective. Honestly I haven't felt the 'need' to modify the car unlike I did with my previous cars. Maybe I am older now or maybe it is just 'that good' that one doesn't need to do anything, or maybe there isn't much you *can* do. I've done the 3D mats, door lights that show "TESLA", and .... POSSIBLY getting he CCS adapter / upgrade since mine doesn't have the support.

The audio system is already great and it has a built in dash cam?

IWantToPlayGame 2025-12-12 23:22

The audio system could be better and there are a lot of lackluster functions of the OEM sentry mode in terms of dash camera duties.

RevolutionaryLab654 2025-12-12 23:23

That’s a bot. All my homies hate bots.

ehem05 2025-12-13 00:03

Honestly just looks!

I recently got new floor mats too! Cross Climates was the best decision I’ve made financially. I took deliver in LA and I have to move to Boston, so I drove crossed country. By the time I reached New York, one of the tire gave out. And with Boston’s road, I had 3 popped tires before switching to smaller wheels. Never had any issues with tires since then!

A lot of aftermarket interior ambient lighting kits look really good when done correctly. Possibly a wrap if you don’t mind the upkeep.

I’ve been contemplating the sound reducing door wedge. I did debadge the front and back but then I hit a deer and the Tesla collision folk put a new one back on lol

You can swap out the stock suspension for something a little more compliant. Unplugged performance has a luxury set of coilovers which is said to really improve comfort and ride quality. And its something im planning on getting. I want the speed of the performance I dont actually give a shit about the super stiff handling. In fact its one of the things I really dislike about the car. It also has the advantage to slightly lower the car by a think a half inch in its highest setting so it tightens up the look a bit. And the drop will improve effeciency ever so slightly. So you can gain back a few miles you lost from degredation. Aside from that there isnt much else you can do. Other than interior mods. I mostly just did protective stuff. A dash mat. Center arm rest cover. All weather floor mats. Stuff like that but there's a million different accessories for the interior. The S3XY knob is pretty cool. But I dont feel like pulling trim pieces off to install it so I haven't bought it. It would be really cool if aftermarket battery options became available in the future. Or more powerful motor retrofit. But none of that is available as a plug and play option.

What year? If it’s pre 2021 you can do what I did and swap the center console. It’s about $800 from Tesla brand new but I got mine for $200 from a pick a part in like new condition. It took about 3 hrs and the only real modification you need to make is to splice in the old usb controller if you want sentry. I hid mine in the center console. Other than that a tilt screen kit is very handy for glare.

ehem05 2025-12-13 05:18

“Looks” mostly. Visual upgrades.

ehem05 2025-12-13 05:18

I had a friend who had one of those Amazon under door lamps and the window didn’t go down when he tried to close the door… cost him $600 to change the driver’s side window 🥶

ehem05 2025-12-13 05:22

An aftermarket battery would be GREAT loll I know my degradation isn’t horrible but I lost 4% driving 10 miles the other day… mind u I have 18” wheels I might invest in one of those S3XY button tho

ehem05 2025-12-13 05:22

loll so did u debadge again?

ehem05 2025-12-13 05:23

it’s a late 2021. I’ve been looking at tilt screen kits for awhile. Looking for one that’s incredibly easy for a diy job

thiccest-boi-here 2025-12-13 05:25

Pretty much all of them are the same process and they take about 20 mins to install

kynde 2025-12-13 05:42

Ouch, that's unfortunate. I suppose some of those lamps are not as good as others. Cheap Amazon shit is always a bit of a gamble. I haven't had any issues at all. The image is crisp and I like it. But yeah, probably worth it to buy from a more reputable source with some form of warranty and such.

northernguy 2025-12-13 12:01

Too cold this week. Will try again in the spring time. I like the smooth look

FixyFixy 2025-12-13 19:13

I did also pick up a spare tire kit. Not having a spare freaks me out

p3dal 2025-12-14 07:30

lol, so nothing to do with how it feels at all then?

Outrageous-Report-74 2025-12-14 09:08

Some ambient lights, a tilt screen and a second Waze screen in front of you

ehem05 2025-12-14 16:23

yeah… more about how i feel tbh loll

ehem05 2025-12-15 23:41

Do you have any suggestions on what screen to get? There are so many options.

Outrageous-Report-74 2025-12-17 05:53

I got a satonic - skinny, doesn’t impede your aircon flow, unobtrusive, great features
