[US] Is anybody else surprised that Acceleration Boost still isn’t available for the Highland Model 3?

THATS_LEGIT_BRO | 2025-12-12 13:55 | 52 views

Seems like that’s just easy money for Tesla.

Maybe once the demand for the M3P begins to fall off?

famimma 2025-12-12 14:09

Same, and why is it out for Australia for a year now?

DeterminedMidLifer 2025-12-12 14:13

Is an acceleration boost ever available for the RWD? Assuming not

net___runner 2025-12-12 14:20

Tesla invested significantly into the Highland Model 3 Performance design, but I've read the sales of the performance are not meeting Tesla's expectations. I suspect they are holding back acceleration boost from the non-performance models to drive sales of the performance model and to differentiate it from its slower brethren.

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-12-12 14:54

My guess is no. The non-Highland RWD did not get AB.

Pro_Vita1925 2025-12-12 15:24

There is no demand for the highland 3P….. which is the problem. From an antidotal perspective, I see tons of pre highland m3P’s on the road, but the vast vast majority of the highlands I see are RWD’s

AllCapNoBrake 2025-12-12 15:25

They have to be able to outrun llamas

SuccessfulCat7577 2025-12-12 15:35

Which is strange considering the highland performance is better in every way than the previous, and at a better price point too

Realityvoidx 2025-12-12 15:36

This is what I check for daily, it would be the easiest cash grab to release it. Considering it’s released in other countries I’m not sure why they are holding this back

Agile_Ad_1004 2025-12-12 15:45

It’s available on Chinese M3 Highland

OldFargoan 2025-12-12 15:48

How about a little AB for the Highland M3P? I wouldn't turn down a little more.

No tax credit

fusionvic 2025-12-12 16:17

The average person balks at performance, they'll say stuff like "I don't need that much power or performance".

Sorry-Pen1545 2025-12-12 17:40

Yeah. There’s no point waiting for this. I’m content with the power the Dual Motor. I have a feeling they’ll release this shit when we least expect it. It will be a silent update.

Zenoran 2025-12-12 17:47

Holy fk I didn’t know that?! I guess I’m not upgrading my 2020 for a while.

omaregb 2025-12-12 18:05

Which is completely reasonable. It would be insane if an average person finds value in what the performance offers over the regular models. If you don't track it or otherwise use it as a toy, it's meh, and personally i would just not get an EV for that.

dankmemer999 2025-12-12 18:06

Emus

amoeba1126 2025-12-12 18:10

Three words; lack of competition. If BYD was available in the US, we would have AB for Model 3 and the MY XL by now.

pmmeanything123 2025-12-12 18:12

Canadian owner here. Like I said in a similar thread, it’s incredibly frustrating knowing that China and Australia have had it for over a year now 🙃. It's also super frustrating that the Model Y Juniper got it immediately and they even recently released it for the Berlin-made Junipers... I don't know why they simply won't release it for the Highland. For those saying that we should just buy the Performance, we had no incentives for the Performance in Canada. The car was like 10 000$ more than the Dual Motor, and on top of that we lost the 12 000$ incentives, so that's like 22 000$ more expensive than the Dual Motor. It just wasn't an option. I keep checking and hoping it will pop up in the app soon.. lots of people are also tagging Tesla on X about this subject

Stampy_bird 2025-12-12 18:13

I don’t but a MX Plaid is still going to be my next car simply for the awe factor and because it’s badass (plus I miss my tow hitch on my 22 M3LR AWD)

Igotnonamebruh42 2025-12-12 18:14

I’m surprised there is no demand for the M3P… it’s a bargain for those who want high performance sport car, a 30k+ below M3 but with similar track capabilities. Compare to the MYP I think the M3P is a better buy.

Hot-Accountant-4425 2025-12-12 18:30

If you waned an acceleration boost in your model three, you should’ve bought a performance model…

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-12-12 18:33

Yeah I get tired of the “should have just bought a M3P”. AB is +$2000USD. And M3P is +$7500 over the M3LR.

Famous-Weight2271 2025-12-12 18:44

Not surprised. FSD makes acceleration moot. Elon knows this.

ronimaru 2025-12-12 18:47

That would be my Christmas present 🎁

LilJashy 2025-12-12 19:30

Literally an uncountable number of creatures that need to be outrun in Australia are encountered every day. If we listed them all we might break reddit

colin8651 2025-12-12 19:37

Its a shame because my Highland doesn't seem as quick as my 2021 M3 AWD was. Maybe its just perception

Bbronson123 2025-12-12 19:45

The only time you’ve been able to “boost” a RWD model 3 was with 3rd party aftermarket accessories. Some pre 2021 standard range model 3s had performance rear motors so essentially they were just unlocked and gave full power instead of the de-tuned RWD power levels.

Seansong82 2025-12-12 20:14

Yeah that’s why I literally bought a performance lol.

Seansong82 2025-12-12 20:17

Think it’s the opposite, Highland Performances are extremely sought after and holding their value very well.

Academic_Release5134 2025-12-12 21:35

If they just sold a performance with the option of all season, 18 inch tires, I bet they’d be very surprised how well that would do

rsnxw 2025-12-12 23:56

Yup 100% my thoughts too. Coming from sports car background I would have loved to buy the performance, but the price difference between the LR AWD and the performance was just ridiculous, could never justify that.

[deleted] 2025-12-13 01:39

Get an Ingenext cable 😉

deeznuts69 2025-12-13 01:58

I just ordered a new m3p today 😊

NiceBench9100 2025-12-13 03:06

What is Highland?

TheDavidCall 2025-12-13 04:20

The 2024 refreshed Model 3. That was the internal code name.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-12-13 12:31

Why buy a performance with non performance tires? Might as well just get a regular dual motor and save the money

Academic_Release5134 2025-12-13 15:03

Because I want the seats, shocks, and acceleration but I also want the additional range for road trips. Maybe that isn’t what you would want, but I imagine there are others like me that don’t need summer tires. And yes I have had performance cars in the past.

NASAlove 2025-12-13 15:16

It would put the non performance to close in terms of numbers, which would/could canabalise the Performance sales.

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:15

We dont even have it in Europe where we have tons of competition. The most absurd thing is people have family centric Model Y's with AB and we don't, it makes no sense at all, especially now that a YP exists.

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:18

ok, so why does the Model Y has both AB in the LR and a performance variant? They should especially do that for the family centric Model Y, but they didn't.

[deleted] 2025-12-13 17:19

[deleted]

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:19

totally different target group

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:19

Doesn't what ? in Europe we have AB for the LR Model Y Juniper's

[deleted] 2025-12-13 17:22

[deleted]

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:22

or you could enable the option to buy AB after a set amount of time after you have bought it (like min a year later). Most of us bought the LR before the Performance Highland was even a thing, we didn't have a choice , and most people thought the AB trend would continue to more countries apart from Australia/China. Aren't the sales in these countries caniballized?

andrewchron 2025-12-13 17:44

So Tesla doesnt release AB for Model 3 but does for Model Y because of debt leverage ? Highly highly doubt that

[deleted] 2025-12-13 17:46

Igotnonamebruh42 2025-12-13 19:39

How so? Not everyone can afford 911

Present-Ad-9598 2025-12-13 20:17

The performance gets 40 less miles of range

Academic_Release5134 2025-12-13 20:48

Not in real life. Moreover, I don’t need summer tires. I live in a climate where I can get away with All Seasons all year but not summer tires And please spare me about the benefits of winter tires. I don’t have a good place to store them and have no desire to invest the money in them.

syates21 2025-12-13 22:19

Huh? What changed? https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/2686/tesla-introduces-acceleration-boost-for-refreshed-model-y

LakeSun 2025-12-14 01:21

Every time I hear of another stupid X post by Musk, I wonder what Tesla feature is not going to get implemented as he uses his "brain power" on some idiot take to draw more morons to X.

LakeSun 2025-12-14 01:22

Yeah, get a Performance but plan to buy another set of all/season or snow tires for the winter months. Apparently a lot of people do just this. Tesla offers a quad set of wheel/tires on their site.

Academic_Release5134 2025-12-14 01:57

I know you can do this, but I would prefer the option not to. The performance isn’t worth it to me for the extra $$$ involved. That’s fine. Tesla can do what it wants and I understand others will have different opinions. I just think Tesla is shooting itself in the foot. They used to have the stealth performance model 3s and they were quite popular.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-12-14 07:42

I’ve lived deep in Wisconsin, All-Seasons are great, not gonna knock you for that, I’ve never purchased winter tires

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-12-14 14:07

How often does a Tesla update disable the cable which then requires a new cable software patch?

Cordies 2025-12-15 02:28

Yup and it’s amazing on my awd LR

MrSourBalls 2025-12-15 11:01

Based on people tracking the new M3 Performance, i'd say the added value is too low. In several video's it drastically loses power in less than one nurburgring lap for example. And while i get that is not an everyday thing for most people, it just lacks cooling power to be "really good". [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tdhYevUGwM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tdhYevUGwM) And with a price difference of +- €8k (€50.000 vs €58.000) over here, i'd say there is some room for actually good performance. Comparing the IONIQ 5N on the same track for example, that seemingly can do "laps all day long" with a charge every 2 laps. alpha333omega 2026-01-05 08:13

Waiting IMpatiently for this fucker to be released. We bought the factory tune the day of release for our previous Polestar 2 lease and needing more power out of this LRAWD…

Suvi2k 2026-01-28 09:47

Only the dual motor has it but not sure if they make they make a dual motor rwd. They didn’t in 2025 for the rwd in the US.
