I love my M3!

hasbigdog | 2025-12-07 21:04 | 99 views

I love my new M3LR AWD! It is such a joy. Today I had to make my monthly trip to BJ’s to stock up on stuff. The car was preconditioned and warm when I entered. I instructed it to take me to BJs using FSD. It handles the trip perfectly, driving 100% of the way there including parking. The whole shopping area was extremely congested - long traffic lines, cars going every direction, traffic light mayhem, pedestrians everywhere not watching where they were walking. Toddlers, shopping carts. It backed in the first open parking slot. After shopping and leaving the store, approaching the M3, I realized I couldn’t get to the trunk - cars parked too close to me. So I decided to use Actually Smart Summon to have it come to me. It worked perfectly, even patiently waiting for another driver and a parade of shoppers with loaded carts to leave the area. A woman in the car next to me watched the magic closely, grinning ear to ear. The ride home was equally perfect. I could really enjoy the terrific sound system listening to the station customized just for me. FSD noticed heavy traffic at a roundabout and quickly chose an alternate path. As I approached home, the garage door opened automatically and the mirrors folded in, all without my having to do anything. This car is spoiling me. I love it. Well done, Tesla!

Get used to it because you’ll never go back! 🤣

whoitis 2025-12-07 21:54

They really are amazing cars and they’re only getting better with advancements in FSD. 14.2.1 is incredible!

thidwig 2025-12-07 22:45

Nice post. How do you get the garage door to open automatically?

spyan_ 2025-12-07 22:56

Lazy car didn’t unload your groceries. ;)

hasbigdog 2025-12-07 23:16

It’s done through MyQ which is built in (2025 M3) and needs to pair with a MyQ compatible garage door opener. It’s great and easy to set up. I got my Chamberlain at Lowe’s. Let me know if you want details.

hasbigdog 2025-12-07 23:17

😂

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-07 23:37

What year is it? I tried a subscription on a trip and the city driving was terrifying. It merged right in front of a car luckily equipped with ABS or it would have been a serious accident. To be fair I think the guy was going way over speed limit. Parking lots it was useless there must have been serious advances in the past 2 years or you have something newer than a 2021.

texrygo 2025-12-07 23:54

Optimist will do that maybe as soon as next year.

royblair 2025-12-08 00:34

I feel the same way. 24 M3 AWD. 35,000 miles and 13 months and way over half has just been joyriding. Only maintenance. Adding windshield wiper fluid and I changed the tires at 30,000 miles.

royblair 2025-12-08 00:36

We have it too$45 per year. Including as many Teslas as you have for the same price.

royblair 2025-12-08 00:37

Starting with the 24 model island they use HW4. Huge difference

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 00:40

It’s a 2025 Highland M3.

nontoxicdude 2025-12-08 01:03

Fsd 15 may unload groceries

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-08 01:06

Ok I was wondering the older models city driving was terrible. I'm glad I never bought it after trying subscription. I couldn't wait for it to go back off when they forced it on everyone about a year ago.

royblair 2025-12-08 01:08

Yes, I have a friend with a 21 model three and he says it almost killed him one time on the highway using FSD. My 24 M3 AWD. On the other hand is absolutely amazing, much safer than driving manually.

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-08 01:10

I might need to trade mine then if it's improved that much. When I bought mine they were saying it would be making me money in 2 years as a robotaxi obviously that will never happen with mine.

HmmDoesItMakeSense 2025-12-08 01:39

I went to a fair this summer and it was in a hot parking lot. Over 100 out but when I got in it was a nice 70° in side. Wonderful.

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 02:42

It’s a 2025 Highland, HW4. FSD 14.2.1.

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 02:45

Do it! It’s truly amazing.

IWantToPlayGame 2025-12-08 03:58

There’s a fee for that, right?

dragonovus 2025-12-08 09:05

I would love to buy FSD BUT then I can’t use normal cruise control anymore I think? Also I don’t know if I can transfer FSD to a new car

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 11:54

There’s a fee for extra features, but mine is basic with no fees.

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 11:55

I should have included the year in my post. It’s a 2025 meaning it has HW4.

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 11:59

Traffic Aware Cruise Control does still work. I’m not sure about transferring FSD to a new car.

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-08 12:08

Are the insurance rates coming down yet for the newer ones? The news I'm waiting for is, they are the safest cars on the road. I will only believe it if insurance rates reflect it.

redwon9plus 2025-12-08 16:39

John at Tesla Sales, is that you? Hah, it was that good. Btw, what do you mean the station customized for you? It can detect which sound setting to adjust to? Don't know if there's an option to do that.

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 16:46

Hi Redwon. Haha, I’m retired and not in Tesla sales! Anyway what I meant is that I enabled Apple Music and Amazon Prime audio. Apple Music built a station based on the music I listen to and it’s accurate too. I think Amazon prime does something similar.

redwon9plus 2025-12-08 16:50

Should be a setting where you switch from autopilot to normal. I just read that FSD is transferable only once. No way I'm purchasing that 2x lol.

redwon9plus 2025-12-08 17:29

Yep was a joke lol. Cool. I have Prime too- need to look into that 👍

Notmeleg 2025-12-08 20:57

Absolutely love my M3. Driving anything else now feels wrong but I do get range anxiety from time to time. With an extra 100 miles this car would be near perfect. But the range does make you feel more limited in comparison to ICE vehicles. If you got a good at home charging set up then it’s probably a non issue

hasbigdog 2025-12-08 21:17

I have a basic 120V home charger setup in my garage and it works fine for my needs. I don’t drive many miles daily. But I did recently take a 2100 mile road trip, and using FSD made the trip free of anxiety. FSD determined where and when to stop to recharge, and it drove me right to the Tesla Superchargers. Very impressive!

Obligation-MomLife 2025-12-09 05:48

I agree. We bought one for my daughter and I’ve been driving it (she won’t start driving until the summer) I’ve already told my husband I’m getting one. I love it.

Obligation-MomLife 2025-12-09 05:53

We have full coverage on three vehicles and the Tesla has the cheapest rate for liability but what kills us on it is the collision. Our agent says it’s because it’s expensive to repair. We pay $276 a month for 4 vehicles. Full coverage on 3 and liability on an old full size truck.

dragonovus 2025-12-09 12:05

I don’t know about it in Europe. I hope it is transferable haha

unkreddit 2025-12-09 15:38

Yep, with a solid all weather for sure 400 miles per charge sales would explode. Range anxiety would be a thing of the [past.So](http://past.So) close.....yet so far.....

RabbitGullible8722 2025-12-09 15:55

Wow I think we were paying that much for one when ours was new. They are expensive to repair. We backed into a poll when ours was new $6500 is what insurance paid for a dent the size of a salad plate. Of course they jacked up our rates after that claim. I haven't heard yet if FSD has surpassed human control.

Signatureshot2932 2025-12-10 12:25

How easy it is to replace current garage door opener with MyQ?

Incorrect_Version 2025-12-10 17:19

I feel it’s one of the greatest cars ever made and is definitely THE best car i’ve owned in my lifetime (and i’ve owned a lot of cars)

hasbigdog 2025-12-10 17:33

I bought my Chamberlain opener at Lowe’s and hired them to do the installation which was only $175. The installer really knew his stuff.

hasbigdog 2025-12-10 22:30

Oh, one more thing. I was skeptical at first but now I’m a believer in Tesla’s cabin temperature control. It just works and it’s invisible with no annoying drafts or blasts of air. It’s just subtle. And there’s no need for constant fiddling with the vents. Not to mention that it works so quickly to heat the cabin - there’s no dreaded wait for the gas engine to heat up before providing some comfortable warm air. With the heat pump (yes the newer models use a heat pump) heat is provided before I even leave my neighborhood. I live in New England and this is a big plus.

Stampy_bird 2025-12-11 18:25

I have a 22M3LR AWD AB and that’s the only reason I don’t want to get FSD… I know I’ll never get rid of it 😅
