Who here use the EVGlass from EVinsulate?

We have a new to us 292k 2020 M3LR AWD. I had my first really cold driving experience last night, -22°C. The car performed flawlessly, but I noticed a TON of cold air coming down off the roof. I had to put my hood up. I also learned that Auto climate control doesn't really work well in those temps, the heat set to 25 just wasn't hot, I think it had the AC on trying to defog. Changing to manual mode worked much better. It got me thinking that there must be some sort of product to add an insulation layer up there on the glass ceiling, and after searching I found EVGlass. But it doesn't seem like many people have tried it, and those that have weren't exactly stoked about it after install, but that was mostly aesthetics. Any feedback? It's $270 CAD for the M3 kit, which I'm not keen to shell out if it isn't effective. I'd say I care less about aesthetics and more about not freezing this winter.

Sorry, I can't get past this. Did you just buy Tesla with 292,000 miles on it? That's nearly 60k per year. I'm intrigued....

I'm assuming it's km using Canadian currency figures. But still 181k miles is no small feat.

Purchased with 279k km on it at the end of September. Put 12k km on it since then. I had a few bits here and there maintenance wise (door handle, tail light, service center visit for front diff oil pump and harness replacement, etc). Purchased the car for $16k CDN, certified, with a new windshield and new brakes all around. Bought it as a beater to take km off my work truck and family-hauling Suburban. We've used the Suburban twice since we bought the M3. We absolutely love it.

Battery health test came back at 81%  Full charge shows 425km, 80% gives us 335km. We are not averaging 150wh/km though, more like 160-225.

Smart. Enjoy. I have no advice for you about the EVGlass. I would likely just move. 🤣 I live in Phoenix and it’s 41° out and I’m freezing.

That’s 41F not C for our Canadian op btw. Though I do think Phoenix hits 40C as well in summer lol. A possible solution is getting the roof covers. Here in the southwest we use them for the blazing sun but it might provide some slight improvement in insulation on cold weather too op.

Haha. Whoops. I used the freedom units. It’s about 5° C right now in Phoenix and that is cold to me. In the summer we can get up to almost 49° C but that usually only happens one or two days a year. Usually we are around 43° for a couple months.

We've installed a sunshade and it for sure makes some difference in the winter as well. Not massive but noticeable. Never really been a big issue for us but you got me thinking, if you added some double bubble insulation on top of the sun shade.....I bet you'd get a decent improvement. That stuff is light enough it might not sag the shade down.
