I mean, I don’t think it’s “must have” unless you have bad peripheral vision and have to physically move your head to watch navigation and see the speedometer.
For me must have. Install one then you will see the difference.
For me it is an absolute MUST **NOT** HAVE based on the photo. I'd be smacking my knee on it constantly. It puts the screen over your knee.
Did you do this yourself? Link to product?
Which one did you get?
I have this on my model 3 and Model Y. Sitting in a car without one seems strange.

This is such a good mod!
not sure what brand OP's is, I got mine from Tech Forum

Got from Tesstudio
I’m 6’3” and had one of these in my old Model 3. It definitely lowers the screen from its stock position but I don’t recall it ever being an issue in terms of hitting my knee, as a reference point. The one issue I did have is that it made the phone slightly harder to place in and out of the charging station. Will obviously depend on your height and seating position but I’d absolutely get one of these again if I got another Model 3. My Model S has built-in swivel functionality, but I actually kind of preferred the aftermarket swivel mount on my 3 because I could fine tune it and get it in the exact position I wanted. It helped that the Model 3’s steering wheel is considerably smaller than the S, but the wheel in the S blocks the lower left portion of the screen which can be annoying if you have your Spotify or other media player placed there.
Yeah I installed one on my MY before got my M3P. Immediate difference when I installed in M3P.
Um when changing music or changing a setting while driving it helps
It's not a peripheral vision thing, the screen is at a terrible angle by default. I swear, whenever I see a stock one, it almost looks like it's slightly angled towards the passenger. Both Tesla's I've had got the swivel treatment. I agree with OP, it should be included by default (or at least, optional).
definitely!
disagree - I dont have that issue with seeing it and dont want the screen pushed farther from the dash
How much did it cost in total?
Phone's not an issue for me. I have magnetic cables. (the hands don't work so good any more) Different symptom of the same problem (bad joints). I love auto drive because it lets me rest the knee and move it around. I'm 6'3" as well. I am so far back (long legs for our height) that the screen is in easy vision.
Would it work with a hidden tray accessory under the screen
Is it hard to install?
Maybe because I'm not a delivery driver or don't sit at superchargers I don't use the screen for much of anything besides radio and HVAC. This would be useless for me.
>Helps keep eyes on the road when looking at the screen. Uh, I don't think you know what keeping your eyes on the road means.
How am I supposed to see the always-blinking-blue-because-Tessie-can’t-feel-my-hand-in-the-wheel?
What? How do you use navigation, or know your speed? What a idiotic comment. Obviously you shouldnt be glued to your screen, and safe driving dictates you dont look away from the road for longer than two seconds. But the displays purpose is to give information for you to reference as you drive. Obviously all the information on the screen is ment for the driver, surley the passanger doesnt need to know the speed limit and where to turn. And naturally if the screen is pointed to the driver it makes it easier to glance at, without removing your peripherals from the road.
Then yeah, I wouldn’t expect it to bump into your knee given we’re the same height. While it does lower the screen from its stock position, the fact that it’s angled away from you (i.e., the left side of the screen is pushed back towards the dash) offsets that. You may bump your knee getting in the car if you had the screen swiveled toward the passenger though. I’d buy one again in a heartbeat, but it’s ultimately a “nice to have,” not a “must have,” especially if you’re happy with the screen’s default position. In my S, though, having the screen in the centered position feels like it’s angled away from me. I’m very much used to it being angled towards me lol.
The updated version doesn’t lower the screen like before (at least that’s what it says on the website)
Tesstudio
Seems it should
15-20 minutes
might be the OG swivel

Yes I have them on both of my Tesla a Y and 3. Missed my 23 MXLR with auto swivel screen. Does yours tilt? Mine does tilt and swivel
Get it from Amazon, tilt and swivel for less than $100
