It should be DIY-able. Or for 600 bucks Tesla will do it for you and it includes a new steering wheel without the turn signal buttons. Or you can buy a SEXY stalk with commander from enhance auto for I think \~400 and that includes a commander that lets u do other things too. It also comes with the shift stalk but it's stick on.

I've been using the SEXY stalks since I got my Highland and its pretty decent: [https://www.enhauto.com/pages/stalks](https://www.enhauto.com/pages/stalks) You can get one or both. The installation of the commander and the stalks themselves are easy. There are no concerns about the stalks detaching (I guess if you tried to you could rip the adhesive off). I have mine configured to behave just like my old 2018. The main thing they lack are the horizontal "push" movements of them EOM stalks, so I don't have the high beam setup, but the app let's you remap a ton of controls if you want to change things up. They even added additional states like during self driving and in reverse to make things behave like OEM. A few times they've failed to connect right away at the start of a drive, which is frustrating, but I've found that keeping them updated reduces issues. Regardless, I still highly recommend them.

Wow, I didn't realize this was being offered by Tesla in the US: [https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-3-turn-signal-stalk-retrofit](https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-3-turn-signal-stalk-retrofit) Unfortunately, its only the left turn signal. Hopefully its a sign they'll re-add the stalk moving forward. I think the new Y comes with one now. Edit: it also doesn't have high beam control, so the retrofit seems pretty steep imo

I upgraded with the Tesla stalks, mostly because we bought a Juniper and now both have the same controls and steering wheel. For me, it was worth it. If I didn’t have a Model Y, I wouldn’t have upgraded.

No none of the new tesla has the shift stalk. Honestly that isn't that much of an issue, the auto shift and the swipe does just fine. It's not like ur shifting a lot during a drive anyways.

Tesla’s stalk conversion also includes an SCCM replacement and some column trim. If you have Tesla do the installation then you can ask them to return the original parts, and then you could switch back if you ever felt the need, keep as spares, sell to recoup costs, or give to the next owner.

Isn’t one of the terms of the stalk retro that you must surrender the old wheel and parts? I could have misread but I think I saw that the price quoted is under the expectation of Tesla keeping everything they swap out.

GoBlues1 2025-12-04 00:29

Why? How long have you had the 3. After 4 months, I am totally used to the buttons on the steering wheel.

Do you not have the auto shift? Works great for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Strong_Foundation227 2025-12-04 02:05

I don’t recall seeing terms like that. I can verify that the SC gave me my original parts on request after doing the swap.

Ok_Excitement725 2025-12-04 02:15

Nice! Maybe it was another country offering the retro that required it all back. That’s cool if they let you keep it. Might even have a bit of resale value

windrip 2025-12-04 02:57

So you can’t have both the buttons and a stalk? That’s unfortunate. I like the buttons most of the time, except when mid-turn.

EatMeerkats 2025-12-04 03:20

Here is a report from someone who did it: https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaSupport/comments/1pa7a54/model_3_turn_signal_stalk_retrofit_worth_it/ They damaged something else in the process and had to fix it, so it took a while.

rosujin 2025-12-04 03:40

I thought it would be weird to drive with no physical stalks when I bought my MY Juniper. I got used to it in one day.

Grow_money 2025-12-04 03:55

Don’t do it

Cyka_Blyat_47-74 2025-12-04 04:00

I bought the aftermarket twin stalk off Amazon. I had to return the first one because of faulty switch and ordered another. It works really well and has the aesthetics of the original one. Only about $180 or so and easy to install.

itstotti 2025-12-04 06:26

I did it and have no regrets.

Bluelimes8 2025-12-04 06:31

S3XY Stalks are so good. Had since launch and they’re perfect. 10% off with code “FrozenTesla” too!

Ok_Priority458 2025-12-04 08:37

Until you want to make fast 3 point turns /exit parking with crossing traffic..

adtrix101 2025-12-04 11:25

The new model 3's come with a stalk too now

adtrix101 2025-12-04 11:25

Yes? all Model Y's and Model 3's come with stalks now

ZealousidealExam640 2025-12-04 12:00

I’m not doing it. I like the buttons. They set us apart.

Medium_Confusion_ 2025-12-04 14:23

Not with shift stalk, just turn signal stalk, which is what I said "none of the new Tesla has SHIFT stalk"

adtrix101 2025-12-04 14:41

I’m stupid I see…my apologies

Medium_Confusion_ 2025-12-04 14:55

U technically can if you buy the stalk urself and install it urself. If you give it to tesla to do the install they will replace the steering wheel. Or again you can get the SEXY stalk and you don't have to replace ur steering wheel.

firewaller 2025-12-04 16:12

Really? I'm glad to hear it after they added the left stalk back to the new Y. Do you know if they come with high beam control?

SmokeySFW 2025-12-04 20:45

Yea I don't like wondering if it's going to shift correctly and quickly. I prefer to have complete control over the shifts, it's not much/any trouble at all anyways.

christcc2 2025-12-22 03:39

Exact reason why screen controlled swipe shifting is ridiculous - when you need to do the 3 point turns on a busy street.
