You can also host RomM at home and use a reverse proxy or VPN to connect to it on any display with a browser.

They’re just saying you can install the program to your home computer, change some settings in your router, and log in to your computer in the Model 3 browser to play from your car. Probably would take 15 minutes if you need to look up instructions and then it works forever!

what do you need the VPN or proxy for?
GoofyGills
2025-12-03 16:15
So you can access it when you're not on your home wifi.
jburnelli
2025-12-03 16:40
yeah, i just port forward for stuff like that.
GoofyGills
2025-12-03 16:42
With a reverse proxy you only port forward 80 and 443 rather poking holes all over your network.
So when you remote access things are you just using Public IP:Port?
If so, that's pretty awful from a security perspective.
jburnelli
2025-12-03 17:18
yeah, it's a home network dawg, it'll be fine. Reverse proxy setup at home is a lot of overkill for 95% of the use cases. It's really more about efficiency and more tools available.
For this case, just a port forward to a docker is fine, simpler to use on the client side overall way less headache.

does it run well in the tesla browser? I tried the ROMM demo site but it doesn't run well, audio stutters and it lags a lot, maybe there's some settings im missing.
