I have a m3p. I will check more in to this the next time I hop in the car, but if I remember correctly it did have something like that. You might be able to check if you download the S3XY app even if you don’t own the products yet. I have heard about disconnecting the wheel speed sensors in order to drift the car before so you’re correct in assuming that’s the only other way.

I don't have experience but I'm fairly certain they are just sending a wheel speed fault signal of some sort over CAN to effectively do the same thing as unplugging the wheel speed sensor (which is why you have to park/get out of the car to get it to reset).
The third option you didn't mention is the MPP party box which is more along the lines of the track mode in the m3p with a certain allowable slip but not full off.
I'd recommend trying unplugging the wheel speed sensor first, it's quite easy to do. The car is EXTREMELY difficult to handle without any computer assistance. The lack of gears and engine noise makes it super hard to tell what the wheel speed is and the instant torque makes it super quick to spin out. For reference, my previous daily (including winter with ice/snow) was a Miata with no ABS, Stability, or traction control.

Saving this post for later. I have a M3 also and would like to learn about drifting.
Thinking about getting the S3XY app and buttons

I remember when Elon teased they might sell a track mode upgrade for non-performance models. If such a thing existed I'd surely go OEM. But in the absence of such, definitely interested in aftermarket options

I use ingenext boost 50 on my 2022 m3lr, it has Drift mode and rwd only options on it... it works..

you press the button and it puts it on drift mode which disables every single safety measure, the car sends it quite nicely, look up tesla drift on yt and you'll find some examples

I have a 24 performance with the sexy thing and drift all the time I can even go 100 meters up the road frying the tires, I used to have a Holden VE SSV ute that had 450hp at the wheels and my model 3 does wayyyy bigger burnouts and drift better than that with this mod

Just curious, have you ever experienced the car going into limp mode and disabling the rear motor while power sliding?

Never I can drive around for hours in that mode and when I had enough at a stop light waiting for it to change you just shut the car down for only 2 seconds then turn on again and your back into normal mode, and what are you taking about disabling the rear motor? You disable the front to drift

[Not by choice lmao](https://imgur.com/a/miKZk1C) Tesla rep tried to gaslight me that I was driving the car wrong until I escalated to engineering

Wow never seen that warning before, every week at a track I'll take it over 200kmph multiple multiple times , drift around till the battery goes flat then charge it up and do it again and again till the tires wear out, iv only done about 6000km since it's new and already on my second set

I got it literally the first time I drifted around the parking lot. Probably some electronic can’t take 100% power. Delivering it in at the start of January

mine has done this a couple times, i've beaten the piss out of it in the regular drift mode and it did it, but the remote tech told me it's a known issue with no known solution

The rear motor shuts off when it senses too much wheel spin

They're really not shy at all about advertising drift mode. They have published several videos showing it off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQEiZXz1jyQ
I have the S3XY commander, and I use drift mode frequently, works exactly as advertised.
It does disable essentially every electronic aid though, including regenerative braking. So no ABS, Traction control, stability control, friction brakes only.

does "Drift Mode", or Sexy comander void the Tesla Warranty?
