Maxton V1 splitter

exgokin | 2025-12-01 23:07 | 82 views

Got around to installing the V1 lip. It’s a low key not super aggressive looking lip. I didn’t like that I had to drill into the bumper, but I don’t see myself removing this any time soon. I really like the ACS composite one, but don’t like it enough to pay nearly $1k after tax. Removed the bumper to install the bolts. I’ve asked some people that have this lip if they removed the bumper, and they said no. No way I’m going to use self tapping screws. Super happy with the look. It’s a super solid install. I’ve already scraped twice.🙄

Nice lip, but was it necessary to remove the bumper to install this?

Yes. If you don’t, there is no way to install the nuts and washers on the back side of the bumper. Maxton wants you to get the bolts as close to the front of the lip as possible. You can’t do that without removing the bumper. You can always use some self tapping screws, but I wanted to do it the way the manufacturer intended. I also ran double sided tape where the splitter contacts the front of the bumper and rear of the splash pan.

I have a Maxton on my Plaid and im very happy with it. Well besides i have to worry about it scraping everywhere lol I didnt remove my bumper but i used the bolts/nuts/washers that came with it. It hasnt come off at 165mph yet hahaha. Actually this is my second one... My first one broke when i hit an armadillo at 90mph one night on a dark road in the middle of nowhere. Cost me $500 to replace it.

Looks good! What wheels and suspension on the other car? Are you running suspension as well?

The Y is my cousins car. He’s running the Tein Flex Z coilovers. I have the Dinan sport springs, with 14 and 20mm wheel spacers.

Dinan springs, with stock struts? How is the ride quality compared to stock?

exgokin 2025-12-02 12:10

Rides pretty good. It's more plush than my GTI at stock height. Installed them at roughly 14,500 miles and I'm currently at 16,092 miles, so the struts are still pretty new. Its not a crazy drop. I have about a two finger gap between the tire and fender front and rear. I also installed the rear camber arms.

Stopped scrolling on image 4 because I had to appreciate the Model Y's fitment for a few moments

How did you get the black logo; what did you buy to add on?

exgokin 2025-12-02 20:56

I got it from Amazon. It’s just a cover that goes over the factory one.

xDANNISAUR 2025-12-02 20:59

oh my god... so... tastefull...

gpj004 2025-12-03 17:52

Is it glued on?

exgokin 2025-12-04 03:52

It has adhesive on the back. Just peel and stick on.

gpj004 2025-12-04 14:21

And how do you take it off afterwards?

exgokin 2025-12-04 21:35

I’m assuming you just peel it off. Do it on a warm day, or heat it up with a blow dryer. Then slowly peel off.
