Just hot breath air. My used one came dirty so I had them remove the camera and clean it for free. But if it comes back I’m not sure what to do. I might look up if there’s a safe way to clean it myself

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 17:45

Thanks for the reply and yes I just don’t wanna call Tesla to charge me just to clean it but I can’t even clean it from the outside….so did you contact Tesla??

Zer01South 2025-12-01 17:46

I have them clean it any time I have service. Never seen it this extreme though.

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 17:48

So should a request a service to have them clean it and how much do they charge?

unpluggedcord 2025-12-01 17:53

THey wont charge you, its a known issue. Just open a ticket

Zer01South 2025-12-01 17:58

I'd start a service just to see. Checked my old invoice and it said $0 but I think it may have just been included with my other maintenance so not sure what it'd be for just the cleaning.

I got several messages for the 1st time driving around this morning on my 2024 Mod 3 that the front camera was impaired then finally one that there was internal moisture and I should set up a service appointment. I guess it \*is\* a known problem.

timestudies4meandu 2025-12-01 19:01

I cleaned mine recently, and although it looked clean i took a alcohol lens wipe to the glass and i could hear it taking off an invisible crust lol, it is easy to do i followed cybrlyft tesla frontcamera cleaning on youtube, https://youtu.be/O_x5wFTLjFg?si=dRbCOWHDQazgsH5h

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 19:02

Yeah I booked a service

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 19:02

I scheduled a appointment

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 19:07

This gonna be my first service appointment for the vehicle

gheldean 2025-12-01 19:22

Only the 1st time is free (per what they said when I got mine cleaned the first time). I'm already getting the occasional camera visibility warnings again after only a bit more than a month :(

unpluggedcord 2025-12-01 19:25

Ive had it done twice and not been charged

FailedPause 2025-12-01 20:07

I just scheduled and the charge is $60. I have a 2018 M3LR so perhaps the age factors into the cost?

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:08

Oh okay yeah I have a service appointment to I just wanted to know if they charge just do clean that

HouseConcentrate 2025-12-01 20:09

Please remember to respond if they charged anything

FailedPause 2025-12-01 20:09

If you have a service appt then don’t you already have the estimated price? I’m not able to book an appt until I have reviewed the cost and approved in the app first.

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:10

Yeah will do

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:10

Yeah I approved it so it’s good now

Khelics 2025-12-01 20:11

they def charge you a few dollars but I guess if they see an issue with it they maybe free. My car has that too but not that extreme

FailedPause 2025-12-01 20:11

And the cost shown to you was??

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:26

Yeah this is extreme so I have a service appointment I needed to ask ppl what they think thanks for the feed back

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:26

Yeah they showed me the price but that’s for other services

phobos_664 2025-12-01 20:28

I made an appointment for it last month. No charge. Not sure if its covered under warranty or if its a one time thing. They'll let you know in the estimate if they are charging or not.

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 20:29

Yeah I think mine covered by warranty I have a survive appointment for it

gheldean 2025-12-01 20:31

Well, that's great news for the next time I'm likely to go in! Just reporting what I was told :)

Khelics 2025-12-01 20:58

yea im in Canada and it snowed and i used the defrost feature and it started to happen when it was defrosting the camera. before that I had no issues

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-01 22:26

So you think by defrosting the car will help it??

Bandosj15 2025-12-01 23:03

Got mines cleaned today. They came to my house and did it for free.

cr4sh_bandicoot 2025-12-01 23:48

Just cleaned mine yesterday. Watched a couple YouTube videos beforehand. The only part that made me nervous was removing the black plate cover. Required slight force.

Khelics 2025-12-02 01:02

Oh no I’m saying mine happened because I defrosted it lol

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-02 01:05

Oooh okay yeah that makes sense lol but I needa fix mine for sure hahaha

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-02 04:36

Oh really yeah see that’s sick

strokeskid 2025-12-02 07:04

This has been happening to me recently as well. Car is only a couple of months old. I'm going to book a service appointment as well

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-02 19:06

Yeah I would I did it

CruelRage 2025-12-03 03:21

What car brand and model is this?

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-03 03:22

This is a 2024 model 3

SnowMuted5200 2025-12-03 03:57

My M3 over last 3 months says my front camera view is degraded and make appt for free cleaning. Every time I go into service to look at it, ok maybe a little foggy, but no rush.

PermanentUsername101 2025-12-03 05:14

We bought a used M3 from Tesla a few years back and when it rained it would get moisture in there. I took it apart and noticed that on the black cover there was a screw missing because there was a broken tab. I put in a service ticket to buy a new plastic cover for like $5 and replaced it. No issues since then.

Deep_Elderberry_6277 2025-12-03 06:10

I manually cleaned mine (24 m3p) after continually getting the service recommended notice (it was free), but before that message if I went into the service options and selected that as the service they would charge $60.

Dependent-Fortune839 2025-12-03 10:08

It’s called off gassing.

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-03 15:31

Yeah, I have a service appointment to get it cleaned

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-03 15:32

Yeah, this is my first year having a model three so I don’t know what this issue is, but I guess that Tesla will fix it for free bringing it for a service

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-03 15:33

Hmm interesting

PermanentUsername101 2025-12-03 16:06

I’m sure they will fix it for free, but it’s also really easy to just take the mirror down, unclip the housing and take a look and see if anything seems off. Depending on your location would be a lot easier than waiting for a service appointment. It really should only take a couple minutes.

Ar-556 2025-12-05 08:44

U can do that or do it ur self to save time realistically and the drive

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-05 18:30

Yea that’s true just don’t wanna break something by accident

shuacore 2025-12-06 18:27

I think what I’ll do is add it for service on the app and then message them in the app asking if they can waive the charge.

Positive_Ad_7694 2025-12-07 00:22

Yeah I am about to do that

shuacore 2025-12-07 03:37

Let me know if you have success !

GreekUPS 2025-12-08 00:28

I just did this today myself. Usually pretty handy but now I’m getting a “Cabin Camera Unavailable” prompt. And now no FSD.

timestudies4meandu 2025-12-08 00:31

did you unplug the cabin camera

GreekUPS 2025-12-08 00:34

Def not. I even went back in to make sure everything was connected and no wires pinched. I opened up a service ticket. Let’s see if maybe it’ll sort itself out my tmr morning drive to work.

Emanuelran 2025-12-18 00:37

I am thinking this is a software bug. ‘18 M3: I have never had this issue before this winter. All mornings below freezing I’m having the fog in front of each camera, as if the camera is “projecting“ fog onto the windshield. I brought it into service - they were going to charge $60, but I mentioned this is a replacement windshield they did 5 months ago and this is a new issue, so they didn’t charge me. They cleaned the camera space. Next day, the same issue appeared. I can’t use FSD with this fog issue. I think the camera heaters are not working and it is a software glitch. Tesla service said they would research and get back to me. Instead they closed the ticket over the weekend. Anyone else?
