Sounds like an issue with the driver's door window switch assembly

Probably the door light. It’s part of the door opening detection system

Maybe got wet? I mean it wasn’t pouring but chance of drips accumulating . But when went there was not water in the area so don’t think that’s it

Are you talking about the puddle below the door? Does it need like a wipe or read the light needs replacing then possible reason
Just odd that overnight vent was on with light rain (but no rain around window seat and carpet etc ) and it happens must be some sensor though

Call service and find out the issue and let them fix it. It’s a window issue it’s not a huge deal.

2023 Model 3 here. I've had the mobile over three or four times to look at my windows which don't work correctly if I'm going around a turn. It's super bizarre, they've adjusted it a couple times. It seems to be better for a while and then it does it again. Basically, if I'm rolling up a window while say getting on the freeway, on one of those loop onramps, which is when you might want to roll up a window, then it rolls three quarter of the way up and then back down. They've done this calibration they said it'll be fixed in the next software update I think every time they visited. I started to do a lemon law swap but the attorney said this was too minor. It is pretty minor but damn annoying.

Are teslas known to have lot of window issues?

Damn seems your in similar situation? Should I start taking video and documenting all this cause seems like 3-4 times I don’t think I can drive comfortably and always afraid to use the window. Wish I know about all there before making a purchase. Is Tesla mobile service only free until the warranty expires (and applies to extended warranty) or is it just free perks till you own the car (which I doubt is is lol)
1.When they adjusted it, what they exactly due? Just same thing I did or open up panel etc or Lube stuff or check sensors ?
If this doesn’t apply to lemon law this is disappointing if it keeps happening . 3-4 times is not acceptable for just a window.
2. What did you do yourself and do they know what you did also? I have feeling Tesla knows when I went into service mode etc
So I’m being careful not to touch anything other then recommended here and doesn’t work get it serviced
3. If you got mobile to come in how come you didn’t go to service center.. was it too far or long wait?

I’ve had mine since new in 2018. No window issues. Not common

Forgot to add did you have anything that might’ve triggered this or just randomly happened? I’m glad you have the same year and model as me so kind of makes it feel like this is some kind of recall or something perhaps. Did your vent windows ever just randomly turn on on itself also when you’re sleeping, etc..

I agree, but let’s see if I’m driving in the winter 20 30° weather and even though you have the heater on and this kinda happens randomly in the freeway, it really would suck. Meaning if they fix it and occurs some other time, it can really pinch that nerve. One of the guys on you just mentioned it got serviced three or four times alreadyhopefully does not occur after they find out what it is.

I bought the car new. this started a couple weeks in. I’ve had a bunch of visits to Tesla . When I picked the car up, there was a crack in the top glass so they fix that. The back cover on the seat would fall off. I had the phantom braking issue. The car was also pulling to one side, but that somehow fixed itself. It’s been quite a journey.
regarding the windows, I believe it might be seasonal. I would have to go back and look, but I think it was when the got colder here in California. It’s obviously not freezing, but it does get close. Timewise it was the generally the afternoon. But I think I would discount that because I don’t roll down my windows in the morning. my behaviors have also changed. I don’t roll down the windows much anymore in general, As my commute changed from country to city driving.
you asked what I did myself to fix the problem.I didn’t do anything myself. I paid them like 30 grand for a brand new car and they better make it work. at least that was my attitude at the beginning. i’ve slowly transitioned from car consumer to thinking this is more like tech a tech gadget which turns on all the time, but does what I want about 90% of the time. don’t get me wrong drives great 100% of the but has its own attitude about certain things. like the guy who programmed the windows was someone they found on Fiver.
you also asked why it was mobile. I would just open the app and put in the ticket. They would tell me if they’re sending somebody or if I should bring it by.

Does it have aftermarket puddle lights?
Seoul_Seattle
2025-11-30 04:29
Whoa if I was on Reddit and did my homework on Tesla I would not get this. I’m hoping car gets steady and gives me at least 3 solid years.
Phantom breaking issue… they have name for these issues lol I better find out what that is.
Do you think I accidentally hit the vent on the app and the drizzle caused this or just coiencidence and just a model 3 issue
Appreciate your reply regarding this and the fact it’s same year. Your car does well now? No window issue

I screwed up my window regulator once, Tesla replaced it via mobile service no questions asked.

Check on your Tesla app if there has been any 3rd party app interference. It’s a little hard to find but it will tell you at least if it’s a vehicle or app issue. Also, do you have a widget installed that shows on your Lock Screen? People sometimes accidentally press things when their phone is in their pocket.
Also, don’t forget time stamps. If you don’t remember when it happened and Service can’t duplicate it, they’ll send you on your merry way!

How did you screw it up? Do you think what I mentioned is related to the regulator? Both windows have issues on mine

I messaged them through the app since my first service ever I had tail light fly off , and asked if they can see the windows acting wierd. Wouldn’t this be timestamp? I should try to get video also tomorrow in case suddenly it doesn’t have any symptoms .. like going to doctor and suddenly you feel fine

The reason the puddle lights are mentioned is if they have a bad connection and the light doesn't light up, the car thinks the door is open and pulls the window down a little.
I had a loose connection cause it for me. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in.
You can also swap the lights with the back door just to be safe. They just pop out so it's a quick test. It's also common for the aftermarket ones to crap out early, but the stock ones can do it too.
