FSD lane changing hesitation

Yeah that sounds like v14s new hesitation they introduced. It improves over v13 in a lot of ways, but the hesitation is a known issue.

I think FSD 14, in its attempt to be more "aware" is a bit more cautious than 13, hence the hesitation. But yeah in 13 it was a non issue. Previously, the car would switch lanes with full confidence, to the point that sometimes I would even get a bit scared because sometimes it would do so without me even expecting it.

Thanks for the info. It was driving me nuts. Suprised I didn't get honked at multiple times. The car would sit in the lane with it's directional on for quite a while. Now I just cancel FSD and lane change myself. Everything else seems pretty smooth.

I was wanted to make a post about this, it’s so bad. It’s wide open in the lane and it hesitates like 2-3 times and sometimes even cancels the lane change. Very frustrating and my wife even said FSD is worse than when we had the trial from purchasing it a few months ago.

It's a 14.2 issue. I've noticed it as well, but only on the highways. I think the next iteration should fix it. Some people have claimed that Standard mode has less hesitation than Hurry or Mad max, oddly enough.

In standard mode my car didn't make many attempts to pass. It just slowed down.

Yeah it could be that it's just changing lanes less and is content to stay put in standard, so you don't notice the general highway lane hesitation.

yes, I experience this often on HW4 FSD 14.2.1. same as you described.
