I have a 2025 Model 3 and use an Ankeway magnetic phone holder from Amazon that clips into the ac vent. I love it as it can sit behind the steering wheel and it feels like looking at a normal cars gauge cluster. No adhesive or suction cups either. If you have an iPhone, I love MagBak’s MagSafe adapter: https://magbak.com/products/phone-mount-and-charger-for-tesla?variant=42054634733649

Came here to say this. I had this on my 2019.M3 and still love it!

+1 - sits in a great position and really solid.

xapxironchef 2025-11-29 02:29

Um, the one that's under the screen?

Thirding this one!

https://a.co/d/90CiWfc I use this one for Ubering and it's quite good, especially for the price - although the green light when the phone's NOT on it at night is a bit obnoxious so I just unplug the power.

Can use with any phone that has the right case, or qi2 built in like the pixel 10 series.

mrandr01d 2025-11-29 06:10

That's what I do with mine most of the time. If it's not there I usually just leave it in my pocket!

mrandr01d 2025-11-29 06:11

Is it plugged in at all? This feels like you're either going to be messing with too many wires or letting the phone cook in the sun, or both.

Scuffedpixels 2025-11-29 10:58

If you want a clean wireless solution, this one isn't it unfortunately. It is not plugged in at all. It does sit in the sun, but it gets tons of airflow sitting in front of the AC vent. Much better than a windshield or dash mounted holder in my experience. It's never even warm to the touch. We'll see how it does this winter when I have the heat going instead of the AC, but I'm still not too worried about it. For me, the selling point was visibility, airflow and no need for suction cups or adhesive. I think the visibility is perfect since I have mine sitting where the speedometer/tach sits in a normal car. I didn't like the corner mounted holders cus I had to glance towards the center display still. Not a big deal, but I like glancing straight down and straight back up. This alone is worth it to me, but ymmv. In terms of wires, I do keep an external power bank in the center console and plug my phone in if it needs that way. So probably not your cup of tea. Charges way faster for my phone vs using the cars built in chargers tho. I drive a lot (1.5 hr commute each way with Waze for traffic reporting) and rarely ever need to plug it in, but again ymmv.

Proclip

Man your commute is like double mine, that's rough. Why use a power bank instead of the car's USB-C ports?

Scuffedpixels 2025-11-29 23:23

You'll laugh cus it's easily remedied. I haven't bothered to order a longer charger and then got in the habit haha.

People who have crappy looking phone holders should be forced to sell the car.

[deleted] 2025-11-30 03:17

Yeah! They should!

midnight_to_midnight 2025-11-30 03:34

I agree, I just wish there was a way to turn the wireless charger off/on with a switch.

pementomento 2025-11-30 09:01

Love the magbak - it’s solid and keeps the phone in the perfect spot for Waze and stuff.

nox010 2025-11-30 22:20

Same! Took me a while to realise a “workaround” was to place it there screen down.

Wiltockin 2025-12-02 18:36

It’s even at the right height for Autopilot not to ding you if you’re reading a text or typing a quick reply 👍🏾

Hot-Swan2280 2025-12-03 03:46

ORNARTO. Superior magnet and affixes well to the corner of the screen. Outside of interior camera monitoring, so I can read books on my I phone in traffic under FSD. Best gadget I’ve ever bought for my Tesla. To be clear, I do NOT read in FSD when I’m actually moving around under FSD. I pay attention. But in heavy stop n go traffic? I love being able to read without getting dinged for in attention. Not a video watcher, but you can also watch videos on your phone with this mount. Think it was $25 on amazon

Hot-Swan2280 2025-12-03 03:51

Ya I got the ORNARTO. Half the price. Great mount and magnet, and you can watch videos, text, and read under FSD. Love it
