I bought a used tesla, still waiting for it. It's been a month. It's coming from Texas. It said 2 week transfer time. So checking the app, no updates. Yet

[deleted] 2025-11-28 21:40

Oh wow. Thats quite a wait. It said 1-2 weeks for me if I ordered.

How long did it take for delivery? Was the car in good condition?

Ekim-Grublit 2025-11-28 21:56

I did a month ago. A 2024 m3 dual motor... i sent it back within a week and got my money back. The experience was nog a good one. "Certified" yeah right. Bird shit (eaten through paint allover), think the previous owner hit EVERY SINGLE sidewalk in the entire EU. The damage on the wheels was covered up with permanent marker... i mean come on. Then the steering wheel started squeeking... brought it back, ordered a new one... delivery next week

[deleted] 2025-11-28 22:03

Well that’s a pretty terrible experience. Location?

Brandutchmen 2025-11-28 22:07

Try giving your local service center a call. Mine was able to provide additional tracking numbers + estimates that the app didn't.

crazyrabbit7500 2025-11-28 22:18

Thanks. Good idea

I bought a 2024 m3 AWD from carvana, and my experience was flawless. They offered me more than other places for my trade in vehicle, which in Texas you only pay tax on the difference. I think I spent a total of 20 minutes to hand my car over and get my new one when they delivered it to my house. All the paperwork was done online. I'm sure buying from Tesla is a similar experience and with either method you can end up with a car that has problems. It took 2 days to get my car too since it was already local.

[deleted] 2025-11-28 22:36

Tbh I personally wouldn't buy from tesla for the sole purpose of battery warranty, you can probably find a used one from a private party with a longer warranty, than what tesla can give you.

Asleep-Set6868 2025-11-28 22:40

I bought a low mileage 2024 M3P from them in early July.  Process went smoothly, but I had to have it transported to a service center near me which was a $500 non-refundable fee.  Took a cashier's check to pickup, just in case I had to refuse.  Luckily the car was in great condition.  Only real complaint I have is the key card they gave me was warped / bent, but that didn't matter as I set up the other keycards I had left over from our previous car.

How long did it take to get delivery?

soulessp4nda 2025-11-28 22:47

I did it was for a low mileage 2023 Model 3 awd. Process was smooth. On delivery day their service center found there was a problem with one of the tpms on one tire. They weren’t able to fix it till the next day. Only waited about 3-4 days for delivery since it was local. The next day when I went for pickup the sensor problem didn’t get to the service techs till I mentioned if it had been fixed before taking it. Sales guy told Techs and they were able fix it in like a few minutes. Drive home and have no issues.

[deleted] 2025-11-28 22:49

How long did the whole process take?

soulessp4nda 2025-11-28 22:55

Saturday I browsed the Tesla preowned site looked at low mileage newer models. Since most model s vehicles I saw had higher mileage than I liked. Anyway pulled the trigger after a few hours of internet searching the other sites and it was like ordering from Amazon. Pick the vehicle. Then the site asked you to pay $500 for delivery then asks you to finish the buying process on their app. Where it walks you through 9 steps from inputting your personal info, picking your financing option or cash, insurance info and requires you to upload some documentation from your insurance. You then schedule your delivery day from some options available, sign some agreements and I forget what else but that was the gist of it. Took maybe 1 hour ish since I had to stop to add the vehicle to my insurance and then upload those new documents to the app. Wasn’t able to pick up Sunday due to the sensor issue but picked it up that Monday around noon and that was it. Hell I had the option to get it that Saturday but the financing said it could take up to a day or two for approval so I chose the next day for delivery to give it time. Honestly very quick. When I went to pic it up I drove there, signed in thru a qr code. Sales guy came up to me had me sign one document and then showed me to my car. Less than 20 min there.

I did. 2022 M3 Performance. Had a smooth and positive experience. I would recommend.

exgokin 2025-11-28 23:15

I did. Fairly easy process. Submitted all my documents through the Tesla app. Waited a week for the car to be delivered. Then went to my local Tesla center, and picked for the car. Make sure you give the car a thorough once over, before accepting the car.

Extension-Shopping84 2025-11-28 23:20

Me. Best experience.

Treactor 2025-11-28 23:21

I just did a search on the Tesla site, and a 2024 AWD starts at 37k. I only paid 36k for mine on carvana.

rwrife 2025-11-28 23:26

I’ve done it twice (4 times in total. 2 new, 2 used), both used experiences were as good as a new one, but my first used car (2020) had some hidden issues like an excessive amount of dirt/mud hidden inside the water barrier, random rattles, etc. …my latest experience with a used vehicle was a 2023 MY, it was still under factory warranty, they extended the warranty one year and threw in a mobile charger. The vehicle was absolutely flawless and looked brand new and total experience took less than 24 hours to complete.

louismeierer 2025-11-28 23:27

I did last week. Went very smooth. Go on the Tesla website, go to vehicles and then the used section. Set your filters to what you want and search. Once you find what you want, click it, then scroll down to the bottom. It will give you an estimated delivery date to your closest location if you have typed in your zip code in the filters. Have any questions feel free to message me.

Calm_Mobile_5881 2025-11-28 23:38

2024 MSLR. Went off as advertised 👍

UC4ME1 2025-11-28 23:57

I bought a 2022 MY through Tesla. First time buying sight unseen, but was assured Tesla is pretty good with any issues you may find. Main reason I bought through Tesla was the additional warranty that starts when original ends.

callousparade 2025-11-28 23:58

Twice. It went basically the same as buying new from Tesla

BackwoodsRoller 2025-11-29 00:12

I did about 3 months ago. Was incredibly easy and everything went smooth!

The model 3’s are a good bit more on Carvana. I’ve looked several times.

[deleted] 2025-11-29 00:30

Nice. This is what I’m looking at. Model 3 with 20k miles for under 25k.

[deleted] 2025-11-29 00:31

How long did yours take?

louismeierer 2025-11-29 00:47

Delivery estimate said 1-2 weeks. Was delivered in 2 days to dealership. Upon receiving it they found two issues with it that they wanted to fix before they turned it over to me. They fixed one and then I asked to go ahead and take delivery. They will fix the second issue with a mobile service call later (minor issue). From the time I ordered till the time I picked up was 1.5 weeks.

Then-Object-2523 2025-11-29 01:02

We bought a used 2023 model Y, 23k miles. Did private financing through our credit union and had the car in a week. The car was located fairly close to the pick up location. I would regularly message Tesla support after uploading anything. Was extremely seamless it felt like I was missing something.

teddykon 2025-11-29 01:05

I have. Very good experience

JudgeCastle 2025-11-29 01:05

Just did this recently. Two days. I think they just match a car with similar miles and features local as the one we were looking at had more miles than the car we picked up. Could be why our turn around was so fast. Biggest complaint was everything has to be done on the app. Was very smooth when we got to the store. About an hour later my wife had her car and we were on our way. Pretty easy experience.

LoveleeChill 2025-11-29 01:31

I did about a year ago when they had the $4000 EV credit, 2021 Model 3 SR+ with 28k miles for $22800 out the door. Pretty smooth process, I went in person to check out the used car before buying with an associate at the store. Couple of cosmetic imperfections and chips on exterior but nothing major, flawless interior, ofc ymmv. The experience was night and day compared to other dealerships, as the employees weren’t pushy to sell me the car and the pricing is just just the car, registration and sales tax, no extra fees and bs. The extra year preowned warranty from Tesla is a nice to have as well, as i did have 1 repair covered under it so far. Overall great experience especially if your showroom isn’t too far and you can see the cars in person.

MarcianaMarina 2025-11-29 01:33

I did recently. It was a good experience. The car I bought was in another state. They transported it for free to the nearest Tesla dealer in my state. The original delivery ETA was like two weeks but it ended up being only a few days. The detail department did a good job prepping the vehicle.

Jason_W_Bass 2025-11-29 01:37

Did anyone have issues with the recent owner being a smoker.

TheLegendaryWizard 2025-11-29 01:48

It will still be covered by the HV and drivetrain warranty for 8 years/120k miles for LR, 100k for SR. Tesla also warranties their used vehicles for an additional 1 year/10k miles on top of the 4 year/50k mile warranty they offer on the vehicles when they're new. The warranty is actually one of the best parts of buying direct from Tesla

Historical_Dot8169 2025-11-29 02:10

Took two days for car to be ready for delivery, car was cleaned up and looked almost new. Provided me with a Tire Repair Kit, and a J1772 adapter, don’t regret any of it

rosujin 2025-11-29 02:12

I’m thinking about doing this now. I just bought a brand new Model Y Juniper about a month ago. I love it. I got it satin PPF wrapped over the stealth grey paint right after I took delivery. My wife likes it too, but she doesn’t want to drive *my* car because she thinks I’m super picky and doesn’t want to ding it or curb the wheels. She’d rather have her own and doesn’t care about it being used. Also, she thinks the Y is too big, so the Model 3 would be the best option.

STDemocracy 2025-11-29 02:34

Ordered mine on Carvana and got it a day later. 10/10 experience

ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks 2025-11-29 02:40

Honestly I can’t recommend it enough. On a Friday I called to ask how long pickup would take if I put down the $400 deposit on a used 2019 Model 3 I was interested in. One staff member (I won’t name him, just in case) went out of his way to coordinate with different departments and managed to get me a Saturday morning pickup—less than 24 hours later. When my family arrived for pickup on Saturday, the delivery assistant there spent plenty of time walking me through setting up my profile and pairing my phone. When I mentioned we were planning to drive home to drop off our ICE car and then head to the Gold Coast, she even offered to plug the car into the Supercharger. We were already at 78%, so I declined, but the offer was appreciated. Honestly, it was the best delivery experience I’ve had—and far more than I expected for a (relatively) inexpensive car.

Artistic-Package-178 2025-11-29 02:43

I did back in August. The process was smooth and easy for me. It delivered in 2 weeks.

Duh_Vaping 2025-11-29 03:05

I did, and had a great experience buying my first Tesla. I plan to buy another used one soon as well.

Work-Alone 2025-11-29 03:16

I ordered a model 3 in 2024 and now last month a 2023 model y, my brothers also ordered both their Ys on teslas used car menu, all where incredibly smooth and effortless, the only negative was my new to me model Y had a big scratch on the glass roof but they replaced it a couple days later for free

sjk2323 2025-11-29 03:23

Definitely the easiest car buying experience I've ever had. Had one hang up and their customer service is awful so as long as you can get through everything without having to talk to anyone it's great! My car was perfect when I got it. The whole process took maybe 30 mins once I got to the Tesla location and it was done. I kept feeling like there had to be something I was forgetting because it was so painless.

vulkany 2025-11-29 03:42

I bought two. One was great and the other is a bit troublesome as the car’s condition is far from the first one, which I realized until later. It is hit or miss.

BigGreenBillyGoat 2025-11-29 03:53

I did a long time ago. They said they had to charge me 2k to deliver the car from TX to CA. I reluctantly accepted that and when I went to pick up the car, they had forgotten to add the charge. The number they gave me in advance didn’t include it and I was prepared to pay an additional 2k at pickup. I got out of there quickly. Still have the car, still feels practically new. It came with an additional 4 year bumper to bumper warranty.

The_big_medic 2025-11-29 03:59

It wasn’t bad the finance is kind of a pain, they reverted to minimum down payment and would let me change but other than that it went very well. Car was well detailed with no major problems on pick up.

drivingaddictionchan 2025-11-29 04:05

Just did it. Car was in great condition. Some scratches under bumper, but expected for a used car.  Interior was pretty clean.

Regular-Highlight-71 2025-11-29 04:13

We bought a used 2023 M3 from Tesla and it was a super smooth process. We are very happy with it! We did not have it delivered, however. We drove from our home in Montana out to Renton, WA outside of Seattle to pick up the vehicle. It was convenient for us as we have family who live outside of Seattle. We’ve had no issues with the vehicle. I would never buy a used Tesla from a 3rd party unless I personally knew the seller.

black9light 2025-11-29 04:24

I got it in about 8 days in the US. Ordered 10th at the start of this month. Got it on 18th

StepYurGameUp 2025-11-29 04:38

Ordered a 2022.5 MSLR. Smooth and car was in great condition.

JudgeCastle 2025-11-29 04:49

From what I remember, the mileage was about 2-3k less than the car we selected on their site and put money down on. We chose one out of state as it fit my wife’s wants. The car we got was the same in feature set, including the Acceleration Boost but we noticed the mileage was vastly off, in our favor, and I don’t remember if the VIN was the same. It’s certainly possible that they had the car local in less than two days. When we reserved it’s they said a week. Ordered on Wednesday, and on Thursday afternoon being told to pick the car up on Saturday was quite a surprise. As mentioned, it seemed like they “matched” the car we chose with one in the fleet that was identical in features and had different mileage.

Ive not once gotten any tesla dealer to pick up the phone. 2 local and 1 an hour away where i picked up my used m3 last year

Wo0d643 2025-11-29 10:35

That’s a long wait. You need to message your contact and tell them to call you. Might be able to just call the service center it’s supposed to ship to. Definitely call someone. That’s way too long for a used car. We had ours available in like four business days.

MoreTower7139 2025-11-29 11:30

Bought a 2022 last year, ordered on 12/25 got it 12/31 went in checked it out paid and left best car I’ve drove so far

midsize-sedan 2025-11-29 12:46

I did two years ago and it’s still going strong! They have a 100 mile / 1-2 day period called “retribution” where you can report issues, honestly don’t even leave the parking lot until they have documented ANY issues in their system and then you can schedule service to get things fixed. My car had a few plastic pieces out of alignment and they fixed it in under an hour

KiloWattMY 2025-11-29 13:22

Great experience. First Tesla ever. Did lots of research. Keep a handful of cars in your notes, the bookmarks may not work well. Check every 1-2 days, the prices are usually coming down $500 every few days, and either the cars are sold or remove from the website. 1) Check the pictures online really closely. Some listings do have pictures, and you can notice minor wear on seats or interior trim. This helps you skip some listings. 2) When you pick up the car, make sure to bring a flashlight, even if it feels sunny out. If you notice any major scratches, inform take pictures and videos. Talk to the representatives at Tesla, and schedule an appointment at collision center. I had a deep scratch that ran from rear to the front, it was keyed by someone. Tesla did a phenomenal job, took the doors off, fix the scratches, repainted the doors, and it looks brand new. Just the pictures :) you may or may not notice, but my MYLR came with PPF on the entire front area: hood, bumper, fenders.

[deleted] 2025-11-29 13:24

I notice they move prices up and down a couple hundred dollars every day. Their prices are a good bit better than local FB Marketplace and also local dealerships. You can get a 2023 model for same price as a 2021 on Tesla.com.

[deleted] 2025-11-29 13:34

I just picked one up. Ensure you thoroughly check the car immediately after delivery. I had three mismatched tires, a 6 inch gash in the bumper, and a failed driver seat sensor. The power trunk also doesn't always open the entire way. The interior is spotless and looks brand new however.

KiloWattMY 2025-11-29 13:38

Another reason to go with Tesla website, is the warranty. The car is very reliable, but it’s good to know that you have at least 1-2 years left of warranty. With the 2022 I got about 5k miles left or 6mo of original warranty (you could get from private party sellers, it should transfer), but then Tesla gives you another year extension warranty.

Its_a_wipe 2025-11-29 14:02

What does Tesla do to certify their used cars?

irrefragabl3 2025-11-29 14:23

I bought a 2022 M3P about 6 months ago. It was not great. The windshield was so scratched and scuffed up that it was hard to see clearly out of at night. The car came from Florida and had sand everywhere. Not like they didn't clean it, but sand works its way in and is apparently hard to completely remove. The body had more scratches and scuffs than I was expecting. It was super loud in the winter when the heater was on, to the point it sounded like something was wrong with it. I got Tesla to pay for a new windshield, because their used car guide says the windshield will be clear/safe. I tried to like it, because the price wasn't bad, but then the noise got to me. I sold it to Carvana for just $500 less than I paid for it. Luckily, I wasn't out sales tax because that was covered by insurance (this was a replacement for a 2023 M3P that got rear ended). It was a bummer that I had to pay sales tax on the replacement though. Edit: The process itself was great. I would do it again if I could be guaranteed the car wasn't going to suck.

Schnitzhole 2025-11-29 14:29

Interesting. Very similar tesla location near me in colorado. I had no problem getting on the phone with someone the 3-4 times i tried.

tscurry531 2025-11-29 15:07

I’ve done two. So easy

arcticmischief 2025-11-29 15:24

Ordered mine in July of 2024 for pick-up in St. Louis. The car was shipped from Kissimmee, FL. It actually came a little bit quicker than I expected – just about a week. My experience was fantastic, but there’s a little bit of a potentially interesting backstory. I had very specific parameters I was looking for (model year, color, trim, wheel size, FSD, etc.) and so I had a bookmarked search filter on Tesla.com that I would literally check every day. I ended up creating a spreadsheet to track the prices of the various options that came up. For used cars, Tesla.com works on a Dutch auction process where they list the car at a higher price and then drop the price a little bit every day ($200-400) until either somebody buys it or it gets low enough that they take it out of inventory. Over the course of two months of data tracking, I discovered the price floor at which the options I was looking at would sell or be de-listed at, and so I knew what price I wanted to hit the Buy button at. One of the options that I was looking at was located in Kissimmee, and I actually had a preplanned trip to Orlando right about the time the car was going to hit the price floor. I actually went into the Kissimmee showroom and asked about that car, and they let me take it on a test drive. Then when I asked about buying it then and there to avoid the transportation fee, they said that because I was not a resident of Florida, I had to order it online for pick up in my home state. So I did that right from their iPad in their showroom. Then, a week after I got home, I got the notification that my car was ready for pick up. The pick up process was smooth – the car wasn’t quite ready when I got there, so it was just a matter of waiting about 45 minutes for them to finish inspections and detailing and what not, and then I got to do a look-over of the car before signing off on the delivery. Right after I left the parking lot, I discovered a color tint flaw with one of the cameras, but it was easy to just request service in the app and have it fixed a few weeks later. I timed it quite well – prices through 2023 and the first part of 2024 were quite high as everything used was riding on the tail of the chip shortage, but I watched prices fall almost $15,000 from their peak before things started to flatten out. I bought right as the curve was flattening. Of course for my exact year and trim, prices have continued to decline, but they have done so at a much slower rate, so I’m quite happy with the timing of my purchase.

Arthroplaster 2025-11-29 15:43

Bought one 2 weeks ago. It was a great experience. I placed the order at 2AM Friday night/Saturday morning-ish and got the option to pick up on Saturday (same day)

honkyharris 2025-11-29 16:22

I received my new to me 24’ M3 LR-AWD a couple of weeks ago. Buying experience was easy. I took a checklist even though it wasn’t new which definitely helped. Their tech buffed a few poor spots out, but there are some small chips and such….which should be expected. The one thing I’m unhappy with is they generally didn’t prep the car. It was not washed well, not swept on the inside, front camera needs serviced (which I’m taking it back in for next week), and the cabin air filters needed replaced (which I already did myself). Overall, if you’re not expecting a new car you won’t be disappointed. Just keep that in mind going into the whole deal. At the end of the day I paid $15k less than a new model for a car that only had 13k miles on it. Can’t ask for a much better outcome.

trailruns 2025-11-29 18:59

Did they let you test drive the car before you bought it?

Longjumping-Mango831 2025-11-29 19:30

I have done it twice 1 new model 3 and 1 used model s plaid. Model 3 wasn’t too bad I had to wait longer for the VIN but I was able to view the process on the app. What took the longest was the final payment their system went down. It took about 2-3 hours longer. Everything on the car was good though I think they had to buff out a rust spot on the paint. I just bought the model s. It was different encause I live 45 mins from a service center but they couldn’t ship it there. I had to drive 3 1/2 hours to pick up the car. I just did a one way rental but still it was a hassle. I found out the service center close to me wasn’t qualified to certify the performance vehicles. Still didn’t understand why they couldn’t just ship it after the certification was done. Everything has been good so far no issues. The 2nd purchase was smoother. I had the financing all done before I got there all I had to do is sign a few documents walk around the car a few times check the inside out then drive off the lot.

ForeverMinute7479 2025-11-29 19:34

Dec 2022 I bought a just-off-lease 2020 M3 LR Dual Motor. 17k mi. Black w/white interior, sport wheels, acceleration boost, and FSD, plus an extra 12-mo warranty after the original expired in Dec 2023. Had to pay Tesla $1000 to get it shipped from Phoenix (wish they gave an option to pick it up in place:/). Transit took a week then a couple more days for the Tesla service center to prep. Overall car was immaculate and the process was seamless, no-headache, no DB salesman or finance JA upselling pre-paid maintenance or overpriced extended warranties. It made the decision easy to this Fall buy a new Tesla through Tesla.com and enjoyed the superior direct-to-consumer experience all over again. Also got to transfer FSD to the new rig (transfer was instantaneous as soon as I hit “accept” on the new car) and started a subscription on the M3.

I ordered a used 2019 M3 roughly 2 years ago now. Transported to my local SC in 4 days and pickup only took 20 mins with a trade in.

ForeverMinute7479 2025-11-29 21:17

Except it’s not a dealership. And that’s a beautiful thing.

ForeverMinute7479 2025-11-29 21:19

No there’s a VIN involved and you purchase a specific vehicle (if you’re paying attention anyhow).

howdidigethere_bb 2025-11-29 21:24

I bought a 2021 M3 LR with about 20k miles on it, shipped from CA to OH and picked it up from the Tesla Lyndhurst (Cleveland) location, also traded in a Jeep Wrangler. It sounds like it varies a lot by which dealership you go to and of course the car you buy. Personally mine was immaculate when it arrived and would go through Tesla.com again. I think it delivered a couple days earlier than expected too.

SarcasticNotes 2025-11-29 22:13

Yea I did. They even fixed a cosmetic issue for free that was not supposed to be fixed

BeepBoopBeep1FE 2025-11-30 00:52

I did. The way to go.

Background-Virus-129 2025-11-30 01:13

I did it’s been a nightmare thus far purchased in April customer service at pickup was the worst. Post customer service…. Let’s just say I still don’t have my permanent license plates after 100s of calls 100s of text messages and 100s of emails….. currently have the department of motor vehicle running an investigation as my vin doesn’t exist. Good luck

I've never had an easier, simpler experience buying a car ever! I specifically wanted a 2024 M3 LR AWD. One owner, with under 6000 miles on it. I didn't qualify for the tax credit, so if I could find one with even such low miles, someone else still ate a lot of the initial price compared to new. Only about 10 in the whole country last April. And most were on the east coast with a $1500 transport fee. But I got lucky and one popped up with only a $150 transport fee and I grabbed it. 2024 M3 LR AWD with only 4,000 miles on it. Exactly what I wanted. Was a corp leased car (not a fleet vehicle like a rental car...) And seriously, how much is someone going to wear it out in 4000 miles? Paid $35,600, which was roughly the same if I had bought a 2026 M3 and had the tax credit. And I did my research. The 2025 M3 had no changes really, and it was HW4. I searched it's VIN, and it rolled off the line in Nov 2024. At the time the new 2025's for sale rolled off the line in March 2025. So it was only 4 months older than the new 2025s for sale. You don't get to see it in advance, but you can always reject it if there are any issues you don't like. And with the extra year of full warranty that's added when you buy Tesla used. My 2024 M3 has a warranty that's 8 months longer than if I had bought a new 2025 model! Loved not having to talk to anyone at all. Put the reservation cost and $150 transport fee on my credit card. Done! Entered all my info in the app as prompted. Uploaded a photo of my ID and put the car on my insurance. And I paid cash, so didn't have to deal with any financing. Probably would have been just as easy if I had. But it couldn't be simpler to transfer the balance due from my bank using Plaid. It was in CA, but I'm in AZ. So $150 to transport it at least 500 miles was cheap. About 6 days later was sent a delivery date and scheduled to pick it up that day. Got to the SC, I had downloaded the inspection sheet with a checklist of all the things to look closely on when buying a used Tesla, everything on the checklist was like new, it was flawless. Tapped on the Tesla app to accept the car, and that was it! Drove away and haven't had a single issue. Did take it to the SC two months ago as it briefly kicked up a camera obscured message when I turned straight into the sun. And since a recent SW update it "felt" like it was making adjustments too quickly to stay centered in the lane on autopilot where you could feel it instead of a smooth minor adjustment. Only a week to get an appointment, they found nothing wrong, but the tech checked the camera alignment, and it was "barely" out of spec. So he aligned it to spec. And that resolved it. They also cleaned the glass in front of the forward cameras. Really easy on 2024+ M3's. I could have done it, but the SC does it free the first time. Like $50 to have them do it otherwise. I'll clean it myself as needed from now on. Still like new! No errors, no problems, not even a squeak when driving it. Just tires on the road, which is almost nothing. Just no loud engine to cover the road noise. lol Took me several months to realize I had no idea what the price of gas was anymore. Just stopped looking! Was a 5 star experience for me. And the only visit to my local SC was also a perfect experience.

WA-typical 2025-11-30 02:09

If you smell cig smoke (or anything), get an Ozone Generator. Like $50 on Amazon. Put it in the car with everything closed up, and run the Ozone gen for 15-20 mins outside where it can easily be ventilated. And an hour later, open all the doors and rear hatch to ventilate it for 30 mins or so until all the Ozone is out so you don't choke breathing in Ozone. Any smell will be gone, you certainly won't smell cig smoke anymore. Pretty much the best way to get cig smell out of a car, room, or a whole house, just have to be able to fully ventilate the Ozone afterwards. I smoke and I do it twice a year myself! lol

I did earlier this year. Purchased a used 2019 M3 LR AWD with about 40k miles. Was a little hesitant at first to order a used car online sight-unseen but I wasn’t finding anything I wanted locally (overpriced, poor condition, etc.) and the majority of others experience was positive. Found a used M3 that was several states away and pulled the trigger. It was $1k shipping fee and took about 2 weeks total from the day I ordered until pickup. One of the best used vehicle buying experiences I’ve ever had. And that is saying a lot in my 40 years driving and many cars owned. The Tesla arrived like new condition. I mean just about spotless with new tires. Couldn’t have been happier. Car has been awesome!

SUPREMEISDEAD 2025-11-30 15:32

I got my used order canceled because they said I took over a week to do delivery. Their scheduled times were off by my available time due to work. It was so hard to speak to somebody and they tried to keep my $500 deposit. Used my credit card so I charged it back.

otgixxer 2025-11-30 18:45

I bought mine from tesla used. I just selected cars within 50 miles of me, and was able to see all the ones close by. Drove up and looked at it, made the deposit, and I picked it up like 5 days later after it was detailed. We paid cash so all in all it was a very quick easy process.

masterblaster9669 2025-11-30 19:00

It was outstanding. Although my state doesn’t allow manufacturer direct purchasing so I had to travel to a different state to pick up my car

Marviluck 2025-11-30 19:09

Mind sharing some more details about this? I didn't known it was a thing, just very recently I've been researching about the model 3 and still getting used to things.

Ekim-Grublit 2025-11-30 20:01

Sure what do you want to know? I bought it via the website it was a certified occasion. 17.000 km on it. So you would say brand New. Only factory photo's available and if you read the certified occasion checklist you would think the car would be in outstanding condition. Immediatly on pick-up i noticed the paint burn-ins and the rimms. The delivery guy also said this was absolutely not normal and did his best to provide me with details about how it would be repainted within 3 months etc... when making the necessary apointments to get the bodywork done i was notified the planning already was way beyond 3 months and when the steering wheel also started squeeking on the second day of ownership i was pretty much done with it. Out here you have a law when you buy something from the internet (anything) you can bring it back within 14 days, no questions asked. Then there was a deal for a new one... trade in a car (seriously any car) and get 5000 off. So i bought a car for 500 to get the 5000 off. And so i get a new car for cheaper then a certified occasion... so in the end it had to be

trailruns 2025-12-01 04:16

Did they let you test drive it before you put your deposit?

otgixxer 2025-12-01 04:17

we didn’t ask to as we’d already driven a new and another used car.

ReadBig5086 2025-12-01 10:04

From uk and I ordered it 21 June and got it 29 June. All thru the app. You can do so much thru the website and then they push you to the app. Even all the financing pick up dates all thru the app. Didn’t speak to anyone.

ReadBig5086 2025-12-01 10:05

It was a brand new RWD basic one no add ons

Marviluck 2025-12-01 11:31

That's very interesting to know. I'm also living in the Netherlands, although not from here originally. But I had no idea it was possible to buy used ones online, was wondering if it would be a good deal. But now that you mentioned the 5000 off, I'm also interested in that. Where did you see it?

Pair-Immediate 2025-12-01 18:44

I ordered a used 2022 model x plaid . Very happy delivered the next day

Ekim-Grublit 2025-12-01 19:47

For me it was below the vehicle pictures when you order. Where it also says what the expected savings are if you would have a fuel car. I think some select models still have this if its in inventory

mcwbike 2025-12-01 20:26

Twice, in 2018 and recently. Incredibly easy! The additional year of warranty is a big plus.

LoveleeChill 2025-12-01 20:59

Yup, they just get a photo of your license and you are free to go out on the road with it for 30-60 mins

Aggressive_Salad3297 2025-12-02 03:24

I did. Even paid the 1000 for shipping from a different city. It took a total of 10 days to get delivery, everything included. Once i was in the showroom, the experience was nothing but fantastic, smooth, and fast. Even got a 10 minute explainer ride in the parking lot to familiarize myself with the car. This was in the peak of the pre Sep 30 rush for tax breaks, so your experience may be even better.

leviveladia 2025-12-02 06:12

do you pay first before it can be delivered and check thorough? or you can check before you pay?

Ok_Line_6534 2025-12-02 08:02

We bought a 19 Model Y 48k miles back in July. Chose to pick up (5hrs away, took the train and drove home) vs paying $500 to have it deliver. Process was easier than going in person if you have a laptop. Picking up was also easy, they have you check the car all around for any discrepancies. Only thing so far was the suspension making noise after a month, Tesla covered that under warranty.

exgokin 2025-12-02 09:39

I made a $500 deposit online. Then I paid with a bank check when I picked up the car. I was able to look at the car before I paid. There was a card with my name on the dash, so I knew which one was mine.

Chris_Apex_NC 2025-12-02 15:54

I got one in Raleigh. First time Tesla buyer. Very different experience. Unnerving to place a deposit on a vehicle before you've seen or driven it. Couldn't even take it for a test drive before full purchase. That said, it worked out okay. Biggest gripe was interior wasn't cleaned properly and some stains. New wheels and tires, car drove great. The Raleigh on Glenwood location is a disaster so that played into it. No parking, way too busy. Employees assume you already understand their process. They don't reply to messages through the app.

shuvham103 2025-12-02 17:32

Ordered at night around 8pm delivered next day at 3pm. Super fast

Dependent_Rice2362 2025-12-02 18:18

I bought mine in August, was super easy. When pick up day came went to the dealership and just had to sign a few papers and I was good to go

leviveladia 2025-12-02 18:34

then if you dont like it you can choose another one within the day right? or you still need to wait for the car to be ready for you?

[deleted] 2025-12-02 18:38

How long did the process take to get the car?

Dependent_Rice2362 2025-12-02 18:49

Bought it August 22nd and drove it home August 29th, had to get it delivered to my local Tesla store

exgokin 2025-12-02 20:57

I’m not sure.

No_Scarcity_7165 2025-12-03 00:59

Worst experience of my life. Will never do it again!

[deleted] 2025-12-03 02:50

Care to explain?

SoCal_SurfDad 2025-12-03 17:57

I did....surprisingly smooth. Car was inspected and had no flaws. Nobody tried to sell me any BS add-ons. 10/10 for me. Does anyone know where I can purchase aftermarket TrueCoat? I heard its really good.

chamdad 2025-12-05 03:46

Just got one last week, took 6 days to deliver across the country. Was impressed!
