24 M3P -> Cybertruck -> 26 M3P

Ebarron0125 | 2025-11-26 16:53 | 290 views

Picked up one of the first highland m3p in Kansas back in 24’ , loved the crap out of it. December came around and things lined up for me to jump into a Cybertruck, I’d been wanting one since they announced it and it would be useful for my side gig. Well side gig switched from hauling to delivery so I didn’t need the truck as much and started missing the go kart feel of the m3p. So I ended up trading the truck in last week to Tesla and am back in a m3p, this time quicksilver on white 😮‍💨 Delivery was smooth, no issues with car unlike the 3 door dings and crap paint spots my Ultra red 24’ had. List of mods I have ready to install for her at home! -Adro spoiler -Adro diffuser -enhance auto commander -rally armor mudflaps -abstract ocean ultra bright lights -Tesla oem frunk light kit -ultra wide rear view mirrors -18/20mm spacers - yellow Drl boards -3w liners floor mats -breakers stereo performance 12” sub kit -apex ml10rt wheels in Motorsport gold She’s in the shop right now getting window film. God I missed this platform, so much more customization than the Cybertruck. Only thing I miss is steer by wire. It’s good to be back with you guys!!!

Any big differences for you between the 24 and 26?

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 17:03

Front camera has come in handy for parking closer to curb or making sure I don’t run over anything in the garage, and the ambient lighting is actually flush all around, on my 24 it was misaligned pretty bad. Turn stalk works good but I actually like the buttons more. If they ever do a reverse retrofit I’d do it in a heartbeat. Besides that not much tbh , just a lot more mods out there for it now. Back when I had mine it didn’t even have the matrix light functionality enabled.

Voidfang_Investments 2025-11-26 17:04

I’m looking to pick up P, but wondering if they will put the Y’s 16 inch screen in at some point.

Pro_Vita1925 2025-11-26 17:12

I don’t want to know how much $$ you lost trading back and forth

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 17:14

Yeah I keep that thought locked up in the back of my head 🤢 luckily had enough equity in the truck to pick this car up paid off and will be getting a small refund check to boot. I’ll make the money back somehow 🥲

Pro_Vita1925 2025-11-26 17:15

Fair enough lol. I definitely lost a chunk of change when I went from my 2020 AWD (bought used during the post COVID bubble) to my 2025 P

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-11-26 17:30

Im curious how much. Only because I have a 23 LR and wanted a used plaid. Just can't stomach the loss 😪

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-26 17:30

Congrats! I went from an M3P to an S Plaid and im considering the CT beast next. I do miss the 3P though it was like a go cart and more fun to drive than the Plaid even with less power. I wish i could have all 3 haha.

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 17:41

Man you and me both lol I’d love a plaid but it’s out of my price range since I’d want the refresh. Maybe a roadster some day!

Legitimate-Space-279 2025-11-26 17:52

Greatest decision of your life!

mrbluesky654 2025-11-26 17:53

Beautiful car

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 17:58

That depends on if you have hw3 or hw4

UTBrown 2025-11-26 18:18

Been thinking of going to an S Plaid from my 2021 M3P. Is the driving experience really much worse? TBH I rarely get out of about 5 mile radius from house so I’m looking for a bit more comfort in the S, but keeping the power with Plaid for the times I wanna be irresponsible. Would love to hear more about your experience with both and the differences!

laterghy 2025-11-26 18:19

I’m curious about this too. Specifically with build quality and sounds/rattles. Do you notice any difference there between the 24 and 26?

[deleted] 2025-11-26 18:20

Post pics of the wheels when you get them installed please. Interested to see them on QS

rjcarr 2025-11-26 18:25

If you bought a turn signal steering wheel seems like it would “just work”, but you’d need to confirm first.

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 18:27

I saw some pictures somewhere, it’s a steering wheel, the little cover behind the steering wheel and some little box

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-11-26 18:31

HW3 😢 😭

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 18:31

Will do!

big-haam 2025-11-26 18:36

I would be curious too. I have a ‘22 lr with boost and my goal is to have a plaid by the time I graduate college. I didn’t consider that the 3p would be more tied to the ground but I definitely get a lot of excitement out of the straight line pulls

kids-See-Gh0sts 2025-11-26 18:49

Love my M3P but that’s a crazy downgrade

cheddarcat16 2025-11-26 18:49

That's the best option. The CT is weird.

Responsible-Quote318 2025-11-26 18:51

Funny you should mention the reverse retrofit kit…. I got the stalk retrofit on my 25 highland and kept the original steering wheel, trim, and steering wheel controller. If you could get the service center to install the parts for you, or have access to reprogram the car for it, you can PM me if interested in the parts. Maybe there will be a market for the parts as more people do the stalk retrofit.

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 18:51

Gonna dm you!

Cynocius 2025-11-26 18:52

It’s definitely not as tight but at this point I value the much better comfort and usability of the larger car (plus absolutely brutal acceleration on demand). I think it’s worth the trade off unless you live for carving up canyon roads.

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-26 19:00

Refresh like 2026 or like 22+ Mine is a late 22 refresh with matrix lights etc. I got it in march from Tesla as a lease turn in with 28K miles on it. I Paid $52k. Theres already people doing the 26 bumper swaps on the 22-25s

VicAltman 2025-11-26 19:18

Quicksilver gang!!

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 19:25

The 26’ although I do like that the bumper is swappable. But that’s nice man, first thing I look for is those taillights when seeing a plaid, I’m glad they removed that chrome bar that cut into both taillights and shortened it down

UTBrown 2025-11-26 19:27

Your feedback definitely aligns with my line of thinking. Thank you!

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-26 19:34

There are pros and cons of both. Some are personal preference and subjective. The Plaid looks better (Subjective) and the power is insane but its so fast you cant really use it most of the time. Also the standard brakes on the Plaid are BAD like scary under sized for the power. The 3P brakes are much better. You're doing 0-150mph in 9 seconds in a car that weighs 5000 lbs. The Plaid MPH is higher in the 1/8 mile than the 3P is in the 1/4 mile. The trunk/hatchback on the S is much better than the 3. However... ALL of the user interfaces on the 3 are better imo. The single screen info display of the 3/Y/CT is far superior. The small screen is virtually useless and contains mostly redundant information thats unnecessary and its not configurable at all. I dont need 2 clocks, 2 outside temp displays, 3 different nav displays etc. The stalks are better as well. I HATE the buttons on the steering wheel and having to swipe to go into drive or reverse. It requires taking my eyes off what im doing vs using the stalks by feel. The turn signal controls shouldnt be a moving target especially if you are driving around a traffic circle and trying to exit with traffic and the wheel turned at an angle. The soft pillow seats in the 3 were more comfortable. The ones in the Plaid are hard due to the ventilation feature. The Plaid is big with a long nose and its harder to park in tight spaces than the 3. The Plaid handles like an old man boat compared to the 3. Nobody wants to play around or race the Plaid on the street because they already know they will get gapped. I trolled so many more people in the 3P.

Malacasts 2025-11-26 19:44

This reddit is the best place to see financial mistakes 😂🤣

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 19:45

Ain’t that the truth. Thankfully the cars are paid for with side gig money. Otherwise I’d just drive a beat up Altima

Malacasts 2025-11-26 19:46

Is it? If you go to cities often like SF good luck in a cybertruck

kids-See-Gh0sts 2025-11-26 19:46

Works great, plenty of CTs in Sf

Malacasts 2025-11-26 19:47

I'm rocking my 2020 M3P until it's battery falls out and the axles give way, hopefully there's an actual Tesla competitor around then 😂 but Tesla did offer me $25k to trade it in.

Malacasts 2025-11-26 19:49

Parking must suck, already sucks for my 3 in residential

kids-See-Gh0sts 2025-11-26 19:56

??? How is a 3 hard to park 😂😂😂

Malacasts 2025-11-26 19:59

Just making a point how little parking there is, and when there is parking it's an extremely tight fit. USS comes in handy for that. In SF I rarely see CT and im there weekly. I sure see them a lot in Oregon, more than I saw a 3. Edit: look at you downvoting every comment 😂

Cynocius 2025-11-26 20:00

I understand where you’re coming from, but personally I like the extra screen so much more (bar auto park). It frees the main screen up for things I need to interact with (music, nav, settings). I didn’t like how my car visualization took up so much of my screen in the 3. I do really wish we could customize the second screen like the old S/X. Edit: As for the breaks, I find them perfectly acceptable for non-track use. Not sure if you have a Plaid after they upgraded the stock brakes (I think 2023) but I have had 0 issues. Have yet to overheat them on the street.

gym4c 2025-11-26 20:00

Any differences between the 24 and 26 M3P? I have a 24 M3P myself

MountainManGuy 2025-11-26 20:06

Wholeheartedly agree. I prefer the M3P over the Model S plaid. Personally I'd take the M3P or the MYP over the S plaid, CT, or X plaid, which is kind of funny considering the 3 and Y are the cheaper variants. I just like that nimble feel and have never cared for big luxury cars.

laterghy 2025-11-26 20:07

I’m curious about that as well especially with build quality and rattles. My ‘24 has been at the service center 7 times with those issues. About to get my 3rd seat replacement for squeaking lol

bluebuury 2025-11-26 21:15

How is it compared to the 2024?

gym4c 2025-11-26 21:16

Ouch. I haven’t had any issues but I am beginning to notice things. Almost a year of ownership here

reneofficial 2025-11-26 22:33

I do gig delivery as well in my 2025 M3 LR RWD. Wouldn’t the CYBERTRUCK have more space in the bed for packages?

Ebarron0125 2025-11-26 22:34

I meant I went from picking up stuff in my truck to just having it shipped to my house instead lol

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-26 22:36

If you take the speed off the small screen it literally doesnt do anything though its all redundant info. It just has the same nav info on it thats on the big screen. I thought the speed was easier to see in the tip corner of the big screen. The 3/Y screen has the little box at the bottom where the music info is that you can swipe sideways and it shows you other things like trip milage and tire pressure but the S doesnt let you do that you have to go into the main menu. You can also touch the battery % and and instantly see the estimated milage on the 3/Y but again you have to go into the main menu on the X/S. Also it would be ideal if the audio info and power info was on the small screen like the old S/X has. Why cant it be configurable?? Its all just software. They could have an option to have my big screen in my S be the same as the 3/Y/CT for people like me. Also to choose what info you want on the small screen would be super easy.

Trevorz101 2025-11-26 22:53

Anyone know if the 26 M3P have new higher density batteries like MYP?

AJHenderson 2025-11-26 23:53

Lol, you bought an M3P, took the depreciation hit and got a cybertruck, took the depreciation hit again and then bought a 26 M3P. At this point you could have just bought an MSP from the money you've been throwing away.

Financial-Football61 2025-11-27 01:30

Wow ultra wide rear view mirrors mod but no air freshener scent listed?

soggy_mattress 2025-11-27 01:45

I have a 2024 with some damage to the bumper paint that I'd love to replace with a '26 plaid bumper. Can't imagine they're easy to find, though..?

VA_STI 2025-11-27 02:30

Do you have a link for the ultra wide rear view mirrors?

Pro_Vita1925 2025-11-27 02:47

I paid $40,000 for it in 2022 with 18k miles, sold it in march with 50k miles for $24,000

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-11-27 03:59

I feel that pain. I got mine for $36k and its worth $22k. I have about 40,000 miles. I'll keep it until the battery dies.

brayjr 2025-11-27 04:05

Are you sure Adro makes a diffuser for the M3P? I wanted to buy one as well but they only offered it on the standard and AWD models

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-27 04:29

You can just order a new one from Tesla

Stoned-Sapien 2025-11-27 06:27

Hopefully you didn’t also take a 179 tax deduction on the truck and now have a massive recapture.

RipeKanga 2025-11-27 12:46

Got any more pics? Would like to see new badges

MS49SF 2025-11-27 13:36

Moronic financial decisions

dynamite647 2025-11-27 14:21

$ > more $ > even more $

Ebarron0125 2025-11-27 15:12

The one on their site fits the m3p since it involves removing the diffuser that’s in place already

brayjr 2025-11-27 15:22

Please post an update if you get it installed. Would love if it actually fits

Ebarron0125 2025-11-27 15:24

Will do. Here’s a YouTube short of them install them on a m3p https://youtube.com/shorts/-eK5dHuyiEQ?si=BInZB0vY7wju_kvc

Ebarron0125 2025-11-27 15:27

Not till the new car small is gone

Puzzleheaded-Ad4769 2025-11-27 16:51

Sweet car, best combo. Look forward to seeing those mods installed. I went cybertruck preorder- Rivian preorder, bought model 3 for meanwhile, then ranger raptor, when cybertruck price doubled on launch. Now considering your exact model 3 again.

soggy_mattress 2025-11-27 19:21

Huh, well I didn't realize it was that easy or that they'd even sell those parts direct

IRACEMYCOPCAR 2025-11-27 19:34

DM sent.

onyxgaurd 2025-11-28 00:33

How did you like the truck? I’m thinking about getting one..would look nice next to my M3P

beansruns 2025-11-28 07:15

My 7 month ownership of a ‘24 M3 LRAWD cost me $9000 in depreciation

Z-Rock 2025-11-28 22:56

Congrats... I've got a quicksilver M3P on order... couldn't make up my mind on interior color and stuck with black even though white is free right now. I'm sure that white will be much prettier but I don't want increased maintenance or headaches. I've already ordered a 18" tire and wheel package - I just can't stand the big-wheel rubberband tire look and our place is up a steep rutted quarter-mile road so need any lift and bounce I can get! BUT... I don't want a tucked-in look so I may end up getting spacers. Are you using spacers with the stock 20's?

Ebarron0125 2025-11-28 22:58

In the picture it is no spacers but now that’s it home in threw spacers on there! Needs them lol looks way better. I feel you on the white interior , my last 2 teslas were black interior while my first one was white. It was time to go back. Maintenance isn’t that bad tbh

Z-Rock 2025-11-28 23:08

Right on... enjoy that beautiful white interior! Will you be throwing rocks/gravel with the spacers and chipping up paint? That's one concern I've got but I've never run spacers.

Ebarron0125 2025-11-28 23:09

Yes , a little more than stock but that’s what the rallyarmor guards are for

printingstuffdude 2025-12-03 03:41

Ah yes taxes.
