Truly insane how thin this whole scam is. Just so performative with a few cars and a few select influencers hyping it. Now of course he is pivoting to robots without a single functioning prototype and the pump just keeps pumping

alphamd4 2026-02-16 15:58

I remember Tesla stans parroting "solved" a few months back lol

Tripwir62 2026-02-16 16:01

Is there literally no limit to the amount of sucker money in the world?

hippotango 2026-02-16 16:04

No one cares about robotaxis and robots any more. That's so 2025. It's all about moon bases and data centers in space. That's the future man! Worth quadrillions.

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-16 16:13

\> all of Musk's promises are missing Same shit. Different day.

Tim-in-CA 2026-02-16 16:15

Shocking!

FewCompetition1347 2026-02-16 16:15

This man says such stupid stuff that it boggles the mind how he ended up as the richest man on the planet. Non3 of the crap he spews will happen for decades. Mara colony .. nope. Moon colony nope. Robots taxis everywhere replacing human drivers Nope. Human robots replacing workers Nope. Nobody needs to work anymore Nope. It seems he says absurd stuff just so his cult buy his stock. That's it.

Inconceivable76 2026-02-16 16:20

Poor Fred. He just wants his 5 free roadsters from shilling for Tesla.

wootnootlol 2026-02-16 16:22

Few months back? You mean 10 years back?

Specman9 2026-02-16 16:23

But Headline Engineering is successful and that is what it is all about.

paulstanners 2026-02-16 16:26

It's so frigging annoying that the share price doesn't begin to reflect reality. And that Musk isn't in jail for fraud.

Every update was somehow the best ever, and then that update was found to still have glaring problems (or even new ones). Rinse and repeat when the next version came out.

MrSluggo23 2026-02-16 17:01

I’ve been in a Tesla RoboTaxi 3X in S.F. Every ride required a driver intervention. I decided my life isn’t worth the cheap fares.

jpk195 2026-02-16 17:03

There are still some true believer retail investors, but I think everyone else knows what is going on. Some of the pros are just cynical and betting on corruption.

Irishspringtime 2026-02-16 17:05

In all seriousness, if he wanted completely autonomous cars, why spend millions developing one from scratch? Just remove the pedals and steering wheel from a Model 3 or Y and have a vehicle capable of transporting more than 2 passengers. None of this cybecab shit makes sense to me.

The_Negative-One 2026-02-16 17:05

Nah, that can’t be true! He would never lie!

>Tesla’s “Robotaxi” service shuts down when it rains in Austin. The city averages over 80 days of rain per year. >Tesla’s vision-only system relies on eight cameras to navigate. Rain, fog, and sun glare obstruct those cameras.

another_awkward_brit 2026-02-16 17:13

I wonder if anyone has compiled a total list of all 'promises' that Musk has made that obviously haven't come to fruition?

RosieDear 2026-02-16 17:20

We live in a world of alternative facts. This was first expressed by "what's her name" as Trumps helper (Conway), but is now at the point where there will never be a return to anything near the truth. Honesty is NOT the best policy. Lies pay. Who is at the top of our financial heaps and able to get the most money easiest? The POTUS himself can do scams of various sorts and make vastly more than he ever did "honestly" in his life. No need to even "sell his name" any more...just grift and offer to do people Presidential Favors and get billions. Elon isn't "by accident" both the largest con man and the richest person! The two are linked closely. Not to say an honest dollar isn't possible.....but dishonest or dishonorable (Zuck, etc.) are so much easier. At least, to some degree, the Warren Buffets and the Google Dudes provided long and steady value to people and to companies. It almost seems quaint today. I don't think there is anyone in history who profited anywhere near as much from Cons as Elon. Most others, even at the top of the Capitalism Game, actually did things. If anything and everything Elon touched disappeared tomorrow, not only would nothing be changed, but the world likely would be a much better place - all in all. From getting Trump elected to the Robo-lies to the false pumps of EVs (left without Elon, we'd probably see a more honest and evolving market), he's like a shot of bad drugs into the Capitalist system.

PangolinEven8844 2026-02-16 17:20

that's odd, robotaxi in austin has been available to me and it's incredibly cheaper than an uber or waymo. i also have like no connection to tesla other than owning a car, so i don't think its a superficial, selective product.

irishweather5000 2026-02-16 17:21

Robo taxis WILL replace human drivers (at least human taxi drivers) - they just won’t be Teslas.

RosieDear 2026-02-16 17:26

I think that, to understand the modern world, we (you) have to go much further and understand that we live in opposite backwards world. Not just Tesla. The POTUS. The "war is good" stories. Most everything in current modernitity is built on a web of lies and PR. That is the way the reward system works. Would you rather make something from scratch for $15 or sell thousands of them from a drop-ship web site for $25 (a $10 profit) w/o moving a muscle? Most everything tends to move in the direction of the greater rewards. My neighbor was a banker and when Yahoo and Netscape went public it threw his entire worldview for a big loop. He knew what was up. He said to me "you don't understand - it takes generations to create true wealth of this type"....and he was right. If you look very closely at things - its all part of the general Fall of what we call "our system". Money is God now and how you get it means nothing. If much of it involves human trafficking (as we see now). even that does not matter. If crimes are committed - well, you make sure you buy the Attorney Generals and LE and everyone else. Sorry to be the messenger but that is what we see all around us.

RosieDear 2026-02-16 17:28

They will still believe when all the factories close. They will compete to preseve the older FSD systems (in their vehicle) and claim forevermore that these are the best. There is no logical way to look at WayMo and NOT say "Tesla is a joke".

ReSpectacular 2026-02-16 17:31

Very likely he wants to pack cybecab with radar and lidar. Inventing a dedicated model  is a way to hide that fact.

NeverVegan 2026-02-16 17:33

People will read this and think… “this thing hasn’t even popped off yet, there’s still time to dump my saving ls in and catch the rocket”

SlimDevilWarlock 2026-02-16 17:34

"Also the version before the current best ever version which I also said was the best ever wasn't very good, but now it's perfect.". - said by Stans about every FSD version in the last 4-5 years.

Aggravating-Wheel611 2026-02-16 17:34

And you think you are paying the real price? Hahaha

BionicBananas 2026-02-16 17:42

5xchamp 2026-02-16 17:47

. . . and the dump is going to bury us all.

PowerFarta 2026-02-16 17:52

Yeah they're operating at a huge loss. 50 cars to Waymos 2000 but sure "half of America next year"

happytechca 2026-02-16 17:58

My thoughts exactly whenever my wipers goes out for nothing when it's all sunny or when they don't start while it's pouring rain. As long as this simple wiper situation cannot be fixed there is no way a robotaxi can be reliable. And we all know it won't be fixed unless there are sensors added, which should have been there from the start.

dtyamada 2026-02-16 18:04

>One is an actual transportation service. The other is a proof of concept that can’t stay online 81% of the time. That's all you really need to know when comparing to Waymo

robgggr 2026-02-16 18:06

Your mind is boggled

Nickeless 2026-02-16 18:08

Well these pieces of shit have everyone’s retirement money pouring into their stock via index funds, so no. There is genuinely no limit.

Beneficial_Might_593 2026-02-16 18:11

You're joking about being cheaper Right? You for realized it is a subsidize experiment. Hope you dont invest like you think.

Hot-Activ3 2026-02-16 18:16

Yup, self driving cars are absolutely the future. Eventually human driven cars will be banned from city roads and will only be allowed on race tracks. But not in my life time.

Usual-Requirement312 2026-02-16 18:20

Reminds me of Brandolini’s Law: “the amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it.”

Hot-Activ3 2026-02-16 18:21

It’s okay to hate bad things. Trump was best friends with a child trafficker and Musk wanted to be.

DeliciousAges 2026-02-16 18:23

Embarrassing. Highly embarrassing even (for Elon and his minions). When will the house of cards collapse? FSD doesn’t work as advertised and Optimus is most likely MANY years away from even going on sale as a real product. But Tesla’s entire BUBBLE valuation rests on these two vaporware products (FSD and Optimus). The Tesla bubble pop will have epic proportions.

ewiley24 2026-02-16 18:26

"Meanwhile, in the same city, Waymo runs over 100 vehicles, fully driverless, 24/7, across 90 square miles, with a 4.9-star rider rating. The two services are not comparable. One is an actual transportation service. The other is a proof of concept that can’t stay online 81% of the time."

rdu3y6 2026-02-16 18:52

Tesla shills claim humanoid robots are a "solved problem" as well thanks to Elon's great genius.

rdu3y6 2026-02-16 18:54

The funniest Robotaxi fail has to be that they can't operate in the rain. Here in the UK it's rained every day so far this year!

Chippopotanuse 2026-02-16 19:05

This is so much more bullish than I thought they would be at this point. Stock will only rise. Strong buy. $3000 price target. Oh wait, I thought I was Dan Ives for a second. Theranos had more viable technology than this.

GlumExternal 2026-02-16 19:30

Wow, the 'The person in the driver's seat is only there for legal reasons. He is not doing anything. The car is driving itself.' video really was 10 years ago huh

torokunai 2026-02-16 19:41

that's what I was thinking in 2021-23. I was able to escape the cult in late 2024 at least.

torokunai 2026-02-16 19:42

you need a redesign to support unattended operations. Less crevices for crap to get lodged in, that sort of thing

daveo18 2026-02-16 19:47

Still geofenced to a tiny premapped area. And they bin it when it rains. Color me surprised.

okokokoyeahright 2026-02-16 19:49

As understand the article and its numbers, it maths out as 4.5 hours per day of availability with 8 cars on the road. Worse than I expected.

PourSomeSugar69_420 2026-02-16 19:51

The reason CNBC doesn't ask questions like "If Waymo was valued like Tesla, wouldn't Google stock price be 3x ?" is because of one thing. The Saudi's. The Saudi's are the single biggest threat to the Western way of life, balance of power, and order in these modern times. They have all the energy, and all the wealth. China realized this and has been aiming for energy independence since. the US has enough oil, for now, but it's expensive to get out, refine and get into the system. The Saudi's have the best crude, the cheapest crude and the entire system is built on Petro Dollars, thank god. But that means Saudi must pump them back into American Banks, European banks etc. But they are already FULL . So now they are buying Sports teams, Media Networks, Real estate and the money is still coming in. Saudi grosses $2 billion per day. read it again. Saudi wealth funds are the real owners of Twitter/X. They wanted the data, they got the data and Musk gave them even more. Trump kisses their shoes because he's compromised and has been laundering Russian money and Saudi gold for years. Trump just gave Saudi the F-35. Which was promised to NEVER leave American hands because of the massive tech nology gap it has over all others.

HighMountain85 2026-02-16 20:06

I know it’s off topic, but since we’re talking about it: WHY ARE MY AUTO WIPERS IN BETA?! Toyota had this dialed 38 years ago. And why does the intermittent speed increase every time I do a single wipe?!

readit145 2026-02-16 20:07

That’s what the goyim are for. They work and you reap the rewards on the computer. This allowing you free time to diddle kids.

readit145 2026-02-16 20:07

It’s called a bait and switch. You make the product seem really affordable until it actually comes out.

PrivacyIsDemocracy 2026-02-16 20:28

> Which was promised to NEVER leave American hands Ehh, all sorts of countries have F-35s now. The USA just - in theory - doesn't sell them to its enemies. Or they sell the entities that are borderline enemies crippled ones. The real question is whether SA is an actual ally or an enemy. The only reason they were ever considered an ally was because of the oil relationship. Other than that, their government embodies almost all of the principles that the US founders decided were no longer acceptable back in the 1700s. (Then again, the current US leadership has a lot in common these days with such dictatorships)

timjflores 2026-02-16 21:42

The fact that he’s boot on the ground with his Robotaxi project is good thing, now its just a matter of time the blueprint is there already.

Due-University5222 2026-02-16 22:15

Uber did this in the beginning and drove nearly everyone out of business. One reason I bought my 25 M3LRAWD was because I was spending nearly 100/day on Uber just to get my to/from train station. That is 3x the train costs. That is bait and switch.

OhSillyDays 2026-02-16 22:18

It's just rich people's gambling money. They'd rather risk a few million dollars than miss out on the chance to get a 10-1 return. They have nothing better to do with their money. Rich people really are trash.

SpaceDesignWarehouse 2026-02-16 22:38

My father in law has a brand new model Y and uses full self driving all the time and loves it... And got in an accident on the freeway like a week ago while on full self driving; his Tesla rear ended some car that hit its breaks real fast. AND HE STILL USES IT! Now it's possible, probable even, that he would have gotten into that accident also.

gotkube 2026-02-16 22:50

Of course! Because Musk isn’t a “GeNiUs”, he’s a hack with a lot of money

FlipZip69 2026-02-16 23:36

Try posting this to TeslaInvestorClub. They will suggest is all a lie but will not repute a single thing in there. If you want to make a difference and actually make some money, make sure any of your EFTs and if you have retirement plans with companies, you should question it if they have that as part of the portfolios. All the money in Tesla stock has been made already. Now it is just at the same levels as 2022 and likely will be a dog for a century. (If it does not crash before then)

FlipZip69 2026-02-16 23:40

Robotics is horse shit. Everyone knows that. Maybe in 50 years. Now they can not even wipe a counter without some complex programming and a very predictable counter.

Ok_Resolution8814 2026-02-17 01:57

It turns out that giving $300 million to re-relect the Orange Troll buys you a free fraud pass. Who would've guessed. OTOH the joke is on Elon: It only cost Trevor Milton (convicted of fraud for the Nikola scam) $1.8 million to buy a pardon and be forgiven the $180 million in restitution he owed his defrauded shareholders. Elon could have gotten more for less.

readit145 2026-02-17 03:14

Opcn 2026-02-17 04:00

It sounds very much like you are saying that this is a jewish conspiracy and that non-jews (goyim) are being used as wage slaves to keep it running. If this is a reference to someone else making that kind of slanderous claim then you've been too subtle about it and are falling victim to Poe's Law.

Busy-Explanation4339 2026-02-17 04:34

That is so 2025 bro. Now he is spreading rumors about merging Tesla with SpaceX. So now the cult are pivoting from robots and taxis to obsessing about moon bases and data centers in space. I don't think we will hear much talk from Elmo about a merger until after SpaceX goes public. It would negatively affect the IPO price too much.

I’m saying Tesla employees are treated like slaves. From experience by the way. But sure! It should be dually noted people legitimately feel that way about the working class as stated in emails. Just something to be aware of.

Dapper-Lab-9285 2026-02-17 09:04

>Money is God now  Money has always been God. Do you think the merchants of Britain where worried about the slaves that made them rich or the Pope was worried about the poor of Rome when the Last Supper was been painted? That's why Governments broke up monopolies and fought business cartels. Government was looking after the little people, because they voted them in. Government has been bought by the big people so it's looking after them now, because they paid to get them elected!

morbiiq 2026-02-17 11:50

It should have been impossible in an automated car without a hydroplane or being cut off severely. If they aren’t following with enough brake distance that’s a serious issue.

SpaceDesignWarehouse 2026-02-17 14:02

I totally agree. It should have been. The car lets you decide how far back it will follow a car and they literally have a setting called “Mad Max” mode where it will drive a bit more aggressively and follow pretty close.

henlochimken 2026-02-17 15:20

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2026-02-17 16:08

The people in the musk Tesla cult have got to be overlapping behaviorally with the Trump maga cult.  The telsa stand who still think Tesla is going to turn the crank one day and suddenly boom there are  a million paid robotaxi rides a week with no precursor are hard to take seriously but they seem to be serious.

No-Somewhere-3888 2026-02-17 16:37
