They tried. The DMV blocked the judges order to halt sales for 30 days. The real penalty will come if Tesla owners bring a class action against the company - they now have ample evidence to show Tesla deceived them.

Let see they have two choices 1. Come into compliance 2. Ignore the court and sell cars for 90 days then sit out their 30 days while Elon panders to the right wing nuts that the gubermint is at fault then go back to selling cars after the 30 day time out. Somehow I suspect #2 will be the route they will take.
