Tesla FSD Refund Journey - Tesla Model 3 Purchased 12/2018 - FSD $6,400.00 paid on 10/2019

soldieroscar | 2025-08-26 18:19 | 286 views

6 years and still no feature that I paid for that was coming soon. Furthermore, car is no longer hardware compatible per Elon himself. 8/26/2025 - Called 3 times. 2 times the automated system failed. 3rd time after being on hold for 25 minutes someone picked up. Spoke about wanting a refund for 15 minutes then he was going to transfer me then call was disconnected. Weeeee Edit: I see this now…. “For nearly a decade Elon Musk has claimed Teslas can truly drive themselves. They can’t. Now California regulators, a Miami jury and a new class action suit are calling him on it.” Edit: Refund denied. Doesnt matter that Its not ready 6 years later. It doesnt matter that they said the hardware would be upgraded free if needed. It doesnt matter that my car is no longer compatible with the latest FSD. Guess I will wait to see what happens with Californias class action law suit. Between 12 and 40 people needed to start a class action lawsuit in florida. 39 to go.

Keep fighting the good fight!

Fun_Volume2150 2025-08-26 18:23

Time for a class-action lawsuit.

QuantumConversation 2025-08-26 18:33

As a former Tesla driver, I can confirm that it’s a shit company with zero customer service.

th3bigfatj 2025-08-26 18:33

you've been musked. Though by 2019 it was already very obvious elon was lying about FSD. He had already missed his initial, "it will drive itself across country \[by 2017\]" promise and was 4 years out of his "we consider FSD to be a solved problem, just waiting on regulators" statements.

Key-Beginning-2201 2025-08-26 18:34

One obtained a refund in USA through arbitration. One in UK using civil law. A phone call won't cut it. Are you in USA? If so, contact the lawyer that oversaw his own arbitration. His name is Marc Dobin, I think, from Washington. Reported in July: "Tesla has been forced to reimburse a customer’s Full Self-Driving package after an arbitrator determined that the automaker failed to deliver it."

dtyamada 2025-08-26 18:34

Good luck. Sounds like you'll need a lot of perseverance and patience

MarchMurky8649 2025-08-26 18:49

I just did a few minutes' research. I think you should contact Thomas J. LoSavio: [https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/Licensee/Detail/51023](https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/Licensee/Detail/51023) There's an email address on there. He seems to have been leading attempts to get a class-action lawsuit allowed, with some success. I presume he is now looking for people in your position to join him. EDIT: I now see you are in Florida, and these class-action lawsuits seem to be state by state. You might still want to contact him, though, as I expect others have, and he might be able to help find some collaborators. Good luck!

Can you reverse the charge on your credit card?

soldieroscar 2025-08-26 19:11

Iirc they have an arbitration clause

galloway188 2025-08-26 19:51

Lmao I remember all the Elon fan boys going absolutely nuts over fsd claiming he did it and look where we at now! Fucken car still attempts to merge into a turning lane when it’s supposed to drive straight for miles!!!shit is fucken bullshit!

Dch131 2025-08-26 20:26

Is it possible to seek a refund if FSD was paid for but I no longer own the car?

Intelligent-Rest-231 2025-08-26 20:28

Don’t fret now. It’s coming in 6 months. I swear to my lord & savior Elon Musk.

Schroederlaw 2025-08-26 20:46

Correction "its a shit company ***that the market values at $1.134 trillion*** with zero customer service".

Schroederlaw 2025-08-26 20:53

Very interesting write-up here: [https://dobinlaw.com/dobin-tesla-arbitration-fsd-refund/](https://dobinlaw.com/dobin-tesla-arbitration-fsd-refund/)

Key-Beginning-2201 2025-08-26 20:58

Yes. Are you a lawyer?

rbetterkids 2025-08-26 21:06

Try filing a complaint with the BBB. I know doge stripped down the government, but it's worth a try.

Key_Bother_9477 2025-08-26 21:58

Thanks for the plug. Marc You can also read more about the situation at [www.teslaarbitration.com](http://www.teslaarbitration.com)

carlivar 2025-08-26 22:07

BBB isn't government and is also useless

beekeeper1981 2025-08-26 22:08

I'd certainly try, you lost out on the service you could have used when you owned it and had a diminished resale value for something that didn't have FSD.

fastLT1 2025-08-26 22:46

All these people sign an arbitration clause during the buying process. I think that keeps a lot of them from being part of a class action. Im not a lawyer so I could be speaking BS 😂 but there definitely is an arbitration clause.

Carribean-Diver 2025-08-26 22:56

>is also useless Can we leave a review for the BBB on Yelp?

Fun_Volume2150 2025-08-26 23:17

It’s a heavy lift, but arbitration clauses can be invalidated. This might be one of those cases.

IdiocracyNOTSURE 2025-08-26 23:59

Just buy a new tesla like the other lemmings

CryRepresentative992 2025-08-27 01:03

Yeah I know it’s a while ago but maybe you can get someone on the phone at the credit card company that wants to join you on the adventure!

your_fathers_beard 2025-08-27 01:19

Pretty cool that moron Musk was allowed to swoop in and destroy any agency that might hold him accountable for this.

matt2001 2025-08-27 01:24

Last week I leased an Ioniq 5. Prior to this, my last three cars were Teslas. I bought FSD three times, thinking the feature was just around the corner. After all, that’s what they claimed. I’m amazed at how full-featured the cruise control is in the I5. The ride is smoother and quieter too (and no phantom braking). Oh, and since it’s hurricane season where I live, I have V2L hooked up from the I5. This is another feature Tesla promised but never delivered. My Tesla experience wasn’t horrible - it’s just that they have some serious competition now. As a once-loyal Tesla customer, I don’t see myself ever going back.

rbetterkids 2025-08-27 04:52

Haha.

rbetterkids 2025-08-27 05:04

Not sure. I mean I filed a complaint a while back about seeing worms in my salad with the BBB. They then contacted the restaurant to get me a refund. At that point, it was up to the restaurant if they wanted to pay or get a bad rating for the public to see.

89Hopper 2025-08-27 09:04

Also, if enough people.go to arbitration for the same thing, the company may allow a class action as it could cost them less in the long run. It's the difference between paying for 1000 individual tribunals and 1 bigger court case.

Informal_Tell78 2025-08-27 10:15

"FSD will be out next week" "Free beer tomorrow"

Dommccabe 2025-08-27 10:30

Fraud.. I dont understand how hes not in jail.

ScoobyGDSTi 2025-08-27 10:55

>Last week I leased an Ioniq 5. Prior to this, my last three cars were Teslas. I bought FSD three times, thinking the feature was just around the corner Wow... You didn't learn the first time?

matt2001 2025-08-27 11:04

True believer = slow learner...

Big_footed_hobbit 2025-08-27 18:45

I understand and I fear for the worst outcome. I don’t even dare to write down my exact thoughts. But by evading jail he puts everyone else in misery.

Irishspringtime 2025-08-27 19:13

Here's the thing, it's always being updated so all the "once we get it unsupervised we'll update older hardware vehicles". It will never be unsupervised. Ever.

EmbarrassedGanache68 2025-08-27 19:59

You have more money than sense!

[deleted] 2025-08-28 03:03

I’m sorry, but if you’re a Tesla owner who paid anything for an “FSD” feature that didn’t yet exist….you’re an idiot…….and you’re now surprised you won’t be refunded voluntarily? LMAO!

[deleted] 2025-08-28 10:17

I bought mine in 2019 after fElon told us the cars were driving themselves already at the first AI day. 12k with taxes. I’m ready to sue.

soldieroscar 2025-08-28 10:31

In florida?

DeliciousAges 2025-08-28 11:54

There are at least some lawyers taking up Tesla on their false FSD and Autopilot promises.. https://www.theverge.com/tesla/720157/tesla-death-lawsuit-verdict-lawyer-brett-schreiber-interview

chrispix99 2025-08-29 02:36

Small claims

scohen158 2025-08-29 04:39

The Ioniq 5 has FSD? Loving FSD on my new Tesla but didn’t realize others had it as well. Getting driven from home to dinner city and highway is amazing though.

HillsNDales 2025-08-29 06:34

Precisely.

No_Atmosphere_1995 2025-08-30 08:08

1 Thing u did wrong was buying that terrible car, and now u double down thinking Elon will refund u lol
